Is there a way to force Samsung Internet browser (via ADB?) to stay in desktop mode? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Even though you have desktop mode selected, clicking on a link on that same page and same site opens up a new tab in mobile. So, every time you open a new tab, you have to keep requesting desktop site, which is BS. There is no good reason for Chrome or Samsung Internet browser to force mobile sites on us if we don't want to use them.

I used the desktop user agent in the options. Google automatically forcing this option from their search engine.
So, I can no longer download files from mediafire as hosters.
Thank you for your help.

Are you using the stock browser which came with your device? If so, ist's easy to get the "classic" view back for pages redirected by google search:
- open the Internet browser
- go to www.google.com
- at the end of the page you see the following (hope its called like that, mine is in German):
Show Google: Mobile | Classic
When you click on Classic all the pages are opend in the standard view, not optimized for mobile devices. You can download files from filehosters.
I just checked it, works
Thanks for your reply but i've corrected the problem
It's on Maxthon Browser, i've selected Wap browsing instead of "www".
Now it works perfectly !

App Idea: Chrome to Phone to 'Comb

I have an idea that would combine Chrome to Phone, Phone 2 Chrome, and also allow for a tablet to be used independently.
When installed, you give your device a name (Phone, Tablet, EVO etc)
It would operate just like the other two apps mentioned:
On Google Chrome:
Press an extension button and a drop down menu would allow you to select the device to send the page to.
On an Android device:
Press share while on the browser and choose the device or browser which you would like to open the page on.
The page would automatically load on that selected device or browser.
Nice and simple, and only one app is needed!
Can somebody please make this for me (or help)? It would be greatly appreciated
Sam

[Q] Method to view Market in browser ONLY?

Phone Stats: rooted, s-off, stock, BusyBox 1.17.1, Superuser 3.0.7
I've done a number of Google searches and searches here in the XDA forums, but I keep coming up empty for a targeted answer. So, new thread time, hoping a forum member has the needed info.
What I would like to do is view the Market in my browser (running Dolphin HD), without it cutting to the Market app when I perform a search, or choose a specific app to view. The webpage version has more info not shown through the app view, and I'd like to view this on my phone at times, rather than having to resort to PC or laptop. Putting Dolphin in desktop mode doesn't accomplish my goal, so there must be another mechanism by which the view gets punted from Dolphin to the Market app.
Note: I'm using the latest MVPS hosts file, and am unsure what effect that may be having on processes.
TIA for any thoughts or pawpoints in the right direction --

Addendum: Dolphin's tab feature is playing a role in this, in that a Google search for an app will shunt to the Market app view if I open the link in a new tab. Opening that same link in the current tab presents the webpage view of the app.
However, this doesn't explain why searches via the Market webpage shunt to the app view...

How do I automatically skip prompts for websites that want to install mobile apps?

I hate when a website interrupts my browsing experience, forcing me to install their stupid mobile app. How can I tell Android, iPhone, and/or Windows Phone to automatically ignore such requests and continue browsing normally?

Use a decent Mobile Web browser that allows you to make it look like you are browsing from a computer, not from a phone.
e.g. On Dolphin you can change the User Agent.
Xscope pro great browser, ics+ also good to go.

How can I un-app-ify a website on Chrome for Android?

Hi folks...
So some websites do things to Chrome on Android that I don't like.
In particular:
1. Some sites, when launched from a link on the Home Screen, launch into a mode without any browser controls
2. Some sites don't let me add a link to the Home Screen, but only let me run it "as an app"
Is there any way around these sorts of things?
That is, I want to add a link to the Home Screen that will ALWAYS launch in full browser mode.
Or I want to add a link to the Home Screen for sites that seem to force Chrome to favor running "as an app".
Some news sites I frequent do the 1st thing.
outlook.com (which I use for work) does the 2nd thing.
I'd like them to behave like regular websites, and launch in full browser mode in Chrome from a Home Screen icon/link. Is there any way to force this, does anyone know?
If I'm using the wrong terminology, please let me know. I'm not sure if these sites are running a Chrome App, or an Instant App, or somehow otherwise force Chrome to behave differently.
Thanks much!
- Tim
