Mate 8 won't start charging until reboot - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've started to run into an issue with my Huawei Mate 8: sometimes it will stop charging before 100% (most of times it happened during calls) and wont start again until rebooted. Unplugging and plugging the cord back doesn't seem to help. The only way to make the phone to charge again is to reboot it. It all started a week after the battery was replaced at service (old one got damaged over time and was holding power for like 1 hour of use). I already tested with a different charger to eliminate the possibility that the charger has issues. I've been wondering if someone else ran into this issue and was able to fix it, and if it might be a hardware issue (has to do with the battery change)?
Thanks

i have the same problem here but for me i started facing this problem after i replaced my battery and also updated my Android to Nougat 7.0 back to back. for me even rebooting don't help fix the issue. whenever i try to charge my phone with wall charger it doesn't respond but when i use USB cable to charge it via my laptop it's charging but my phone have to be shut down to keep charging . i really hope someone can help us.
Thanks

i have been facing the exact same problem. i rolled back to Marshmallow and it is charging fine but when i upgraded to Nougut it will not charge again. so it is the problem with update. i replaced my battery too by the way.
it is really annoying since i want to keep Nougut. did not like Marshmallow.

Same problem here, started after changing the battery

I faced the same problem, what helped for me:
Discharge the phone ~5%. Turn off the phone. Recharge to 100%. Boot the phone.
Use the phone till ~5% and redo the procedure once.
After that phone also allows me to recharge it while it was still turned on (without reboot).

[Q] Nexus 5 charging only when it is turned off

Hey there!
My Nexus 5, after updating it to 4.4.3, is having a issue: the device is charging only when it is turned off. When I turn the phone on, while charging, it will remain charging. But if I connect the charger, when the phone is already turned on, it will not charge.
I have tested 2 different cables, same issue.
Is anyone else having the same problem? How to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Just for clarification: I'm using Kit Kat 4.4.3, rooted, Xposed.
what are you charging from? ac or pc?
AC!

Another question, are you using the stock wall wart? Some aftermarket chargers don't put out enough amperage. Another possibility is that you've got some rogue processes keeping your phone awake so it's using battery as quickly (or quicker) than it can take in a charge.
I'm using the AC charger that came with my Nexus 5.
Updated to 4.4.4. Problem not solved.
I think it might be a hardware issue. I have the same problem with my pebble. I have tried multiple cables/chargers and it only charges when it's off. When it's on I get the charging notification but it doesn't actually charge
Nothing. The devide is still charging only when it is turned off.
Having the same issue since update 2 weeks ago. Already wiped phone and problem still exist. Start to think it's hardware but tried 2 different charger same issue.
So guys I am almost the same problem since this morning. I went on a 3 day trip to the Netherlands on Friday and charged my phone in the car for the last time on friday. I died on me this morning. While I was on the way back today and my N5 was in it's last percents of battery I noticed it wouldnt charge anymore. I thought fastcharging might have killed my car radio. Now back home I tried to charge it. For some reason the charging while off screen reapeared as soon as it turned off. Whenn I turned it on again it stopped charging. Tried rebooting multiple times. My phone now only charges while being in Fastboot or Recovery mode. Anybody having any ideas what might have caused this an how to fix this? Cleaning the charger didn't help me.

Hi. Also had this problem a few days now. Alot of headscraching is done
N5 won`t charge when on. Tried my N10 charger, but still the same. With my wireless charger it register the phone when off, but cannot charge it at all. I've also done a factory reset, and even changed the battery. Still no solution. Wondering if the charging port is damaged somehow. It doesn't cost much so maybe I`ll order a new and replace it to. I remember draining the battery more than usual right before this issue acurred. I was hiking, and din`t bring my portable charger. Also it could be some kind of water damage. Had the phone in my pocket all the time, it was not raining, but I got pretty sweaty:-9 Never had any issue with my stock Nexus 5 up till now. Don`t think this i a common problem, when this is the only place I've found others with this issue I`ll order the charging port, keep on searching on forums, and take it from there.
Good luck
I'm having the same problem on my Nexus 5 now as well. When on, it won't charge via micro-usb (via original charger or USB-to-PC), nor will it charge wirelessly. When turned completely off, it charges, but at GREATLY GREATLY reduced speed. It seems to be stuck in a loop as it it's just been plugged in. It cycles continuously through the lightning-bolt battery image, followed by the charge percentage graphic. The screen blinks, then it starts again. I suspect that it only charges for a moment or two before each reset. For example, it only charged about 20% over the span of six hours last night.
I've tried four chargers and four USB cables, and of course both wireless and wired charging. It's something with the hardware I suspect.
Anyone have any suggestions? It looks the the factory wipe upthread didn't help...
Charging spare part
I am having same problem too. I'm guessing it's because of water damage. Where did you find the charging part? I'm thinking of ordering one for myself to see if the problem is fixed!

Did anyone come up with a resolution?

[Q] Charger Problems on Lollipop

Hey guys,
I've noticed in the past days I'm having a weird issue on my Moto G GPE running Lollipop 5.0.1.
In order to the phone starts charging I have to reboot it everytime, unless battery level is above 60%. So basically, I've ruled out other possible causes, tried different chargers, I've cleaned the microusb port several times and nothing seems to work. Everytime the battery is below 60% charge and I plug in the charger port, nothing happens, so, I turn off the phone and immediately the screen lights up with the charging battery logo. I turn on the phone again and it is still charging. Could this be a bug or hardware related stuff? I would really appreciate any help on this because it's really annoying having to restart the phone everytime I need to charge it.
Thanks for your time lads!
Cheers!

MT7 - TL10 Charging issue when phone switched off

Dear all,
I have the MT7-TL10 Chinese Version Gold, Rom MT7-TL10V100R001CHNC00B123SP03. The phone is rooted, unlocked bootloader, CWM. I have a problem when the phone is switched off and I want to charge it.
I plug the switched off phone into the original Huawei Charger but then it won't charge correctly. It seems to hang and I also can't switch it on. Only when I unplug the charger and wait for a minute then I will be able to start the phone again.
Also when I don't switch it on and leave the phone connected to the charger , the battery gets warm but it isn't charged. Also there is no charging animation. It shows only the big battery symbol with the green flash inside.
When I charge the phone while it is on or switch it on without having it connected to charger it is no problem at all. Any idea? Software Issue?
Thank you very much for any help pointing me in the right direction.
Have you tried reflashing original stock recovery?
I tried this way and worked for me...

It is because CWM recovery.
When you rooted flash original recovery back
I was charging P7 switched off and had CWM recovery and it always went after 10 mins. to bootloader from no reason (yes while switched off) and phone didn't charge just 40% was there ..
I flashed original recovery .. and problem solved..

phone dead, or is it? PLEASE HELP

i have an xperia z3 that has been working fine for five moths now on lollipop , however today i noticed that the battery indicator changed from 17 percent to 50 percent to 7 percent every couple of minutes, i looked up online and somewhere it said to let it discharge completely then recharge
in all stupidity i used m phone till it suddenly blacked out, i was like step 1: check
step 2 however wasnt working as when i plugged the charger it put up the charging battery screen with the red light, then it blacked out again and it just keeps on turning it self on and off from black screen to battery screen
id like to let it survive for a while till i can afford a new battery or something, can i do that? or is it hopeless.
i will let it charge for the night, however i need the phone in 3 days and cant afford a new battery WHAT DO I DO???????? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
if you do know the cause of the problem enlighten me , many thanks
Check your charger and charging cable. Might not be charging properly. And that may have damaged your battery and charging related circuitry on your main board.

update: this is one hell of an issue
it appears this is a very common issue among phones and xperia phones specifically ,NEVER let your phone discharge
i found that i can get to fastboot mode and flash mode , but thats it cant reboot normally
i changed cables and chargers and even switched to magnetic charger, charged other devices using my charger to make sure, forced shut down using power+volume up and using the killswitch
but its all in vain and the problem is just the same, many people who had this problem got it fixed by forcing shut down and changing chargers but i let it for hours and hours to charge
i also updated from lollipop 5.0 to 5.1 via flashtools since i got to flash mode, i erased user data and everything and it installed perfectly
but still when i disconnected and pressed power button it showed the low battery icon and it still wont charge
is there anyway to chrge it from fastboot or flashmode and boot it from there cuz they work

I have no idea on that. I'm still New to this phone but yes, never let your phone fully drain. It's the characteristics of lithium ion battery.

Phone not charging above 0%

Hey guys,
I am having the issue that my OPO is not charging. It remains at 0% when plugged in indefinitely. As soon as I unplug the charger it will turn off immediately. When plugged in, however, it functions perfectly fine. I reset the phone and also tried different ROMS but I am assuming some hardware issue because switching ROMS or using a different charger and cable did not help. I assumed a faulty battery, so, I replaced the original battery but also that does not fix the issue. Did you experience a similar issue? I know that some hardware part is very likely not working properly but which one is it? Thanks in advance. I am hoping someone can help!
No idea dude..
My OPO works fine with the stock battery even after 4 & half years also gives 4.15hrs of screen on time.
