using aTrackdog I see that facebook has a new app version.
Seems like the Facebook 1.1 is on the droid phone.
See that SizzledCore has the apk for the 1.1 to try it.
I tried to install but getting force close.. any advice?

I uninstalled the current facebook first, then installed the one from the droid. Worked fine except the onscreen keyboard does not popup when you touch a text box.
Any noticeable changes other than the broken keyboard that would even make this a worthwhile update?
Nic
I assume that it's the same as this:
Droid Facebook App
I love it. I put it on my phone and it's one notch below the iPhone facebook app. Still not there, but pretty close!
Works fine for me aside from the notifications though. They just don't come through like they did on the older version. Keyboard works fine for me.
Anybody else not getting notifications?
I haven't been getting notifications either.

Yep, I dont get notifications either.
I also dont like a refresh rate of 30 minutes as a min. I cant shake to refresh, which is fun and quick.
In the notifications screen, I need to manually refresh to get those.
Its great in some respects, but iffy in others. Im on the fence.
Has anyone had any issue with their gallery not loading pictures or taking an extreme amount of time for just a few to show up at a time?
Mine has been doing this since I've had gallery.

The 3d gallery? That's because it was made for a phone with a snapdragon processor and the right gpu. Our phone is slower, and it doesn't have the graphical hardware to handle it fully.
The 3d gallery is crap... even on the better phones. Use the regular photos app.
That app is a little laggy the first time you run it but is works better after it has loaded all the photos.
Thank you. That answers everything!!

I've noticed the same thing.
For me it will stop loading eventually even the some of the thumbnails are still blank. The ones that it does load, load faster the next time I open the app, there are still a bunch that never load. Are there any gallery replacement apps?
That's weird though, on my current ROM the Gallery doesn't work, however I've used the 3dGallery on other ROMs before and it's worked flawlessly. Its hard to believe that its a hardware thing considering I've used it before with no issues.
Gallery3d has worked fine for me on every ROM from:
DC 2.0.7->2.0.8.1
Fresh 2.11
Fresh 2.12
Fresh Toast 2.1
No issues with lag, no issues with thumbnails not loading.
I am totally jealous of the photo gallery app on Galaxy S phones. The Droid X gallery is horribly slow and clunky. Could zooming in and out be any worse?
Is there a way to replace it with the Galaxy S app or a 3rd party alternative?
I use Gallery3DMT.apk It's very smooth and works quite well on the X. I believe it's from the nexus. Just be sure to scroll through your pic folders slowly the first time you open it so that it can cache the pics properly for fast loading in the future. Hope this helps.
This app is decent. It's def. the Nexus One app as it ties into my Piccasa account. It's better but still not great. Surprised there aren't better alternatives out there that are faster.
Also ....... wish I could remove the stock Gallery app which blows. Seems if I try to launch the camera from Gallery3DMT.apk it FCs.
I use the WJDgallerymod takes the background pic from the gallery off to load up a tad quicker. other than that it does load quite slow.
here is a link to that, maybe it will help in the slowness. GL

It's not even the slowness on that screen that bothers me. The pinch to zoom and scrolling it so pathetic. If a 1st gen iPhone can do it butter smooth, why not a 1ghz Android phone released in 2010?
I use auto upload when WiFi+charging, great for our phones with limited storage, So I rely a lot on Google+ auto backup photos. I delete pictures from my local album to free space, but...
When I am browsing my photos through Google+, I CANNOT swipe left or right to go previous/next picture. If I do that, when I leave the app, my phone gets extreme lag, especially in home screen and notification drawer. I even thought this was some CleanRom related bug, but I'm using stock rooted and the problem is still there. I also thought this could be a Sense Launcher bug, but even with Nova launcher it happens.
Anyone else having this issue? I bet there a lot of people experiencing this.. It took me a while to figure out what was causing it, but it's very simple: Just open a photo on Google+ and swipe left or right to go the next/previous pic. Your phone should lag like crazy until you reboot it.

I get the lag too. I usually get it after closing YouTube, I also did the photo swiping you mentioned and was affected as well. Are you using the elementalx or bulletproof kernels?
Using stock rooted rom and kernel. I used to get similar slowdowns on ElementalX kernel, but I could never find the source. In this case I was able to nail it down, and I haven't experienced lag from other apps.

Honestly unless your a huge fan of Google plus I would recommend using drop box (which has the same feature) .
(Especially since it seems like Google plus failed to take off)
+ drop has integration to backup stuff from quite a few apps (fuelio & tibu for example)

I have used dropbox and box extensively before trying Google+ photos. What makes Google+ more attractive to me is that uploads at standard(but still high) resolution are unlimited. It also uploads my videos in HD, also unlimited.
It's not all about storage(I have a 50gb box account). When I actually want to view or download my photos , Google+ is much, much MUCH faster to load. Dropbox and Box are super slow to load, and they also don't sort my pictures by date. Google+ even highlights what it thinks are the best pictures from any given day, enhances them to make them look better and it even creates animations out of my burst shots.
For photo storage, Google+ is so much better, there's just no contest.
I'm so disappointed by chrome , I've been using it for quite a while ,it was unusable on my galaxy nexus ,then it got almost OK on the nexus 4 and now I have my nexus 5 and the performance is still poor , the scrolling is not smooth , its choppy ,sometimes the websites stop responding , the app feels ... Heavy
Ive been using Firefox for a few months and although the scrolling is noticeably better than chrome's it still has its issues , sometimes the text looks blurry and until it fixes itself you can't click on links on the browser , I attached a picture so you guys can see , pay attention to the "next page"button (on the bottom with the rest background ) ,it became unclickable , Firefox crashes sometimes too .
To make things even worse the aosp browser which performance was light years ahead of Chrome's now shares Chrome's poor performance because Google made some changes and now it uses the chromium engine
I don't know what to do ,I become so upset when I use the browser on iOS /windows phone , I love kit Kat but seriously Google make chrome on android just as good as chrome on desktop :banghead:
You tried chrome beta, it's actually a lot better

I didn't notice a big difference vs the regular chrome ,all I knew is that it had more features and with the features side I'm really satisfied ,I'm upset is with the poor scrolling performance and the lack of smoothness :'(

I'm giving chrome beta a chance , maybe it's placebo effect but I feel it is a bit more responsive than the stable version , something I don't understand is why does the browser refreshes every time I switch to another app and then come back to the browser , it doesn't even remember my scrolling position ,very annoying , I don't understand 2 GB should be enough to keep the browser in memory :/

Use Next browser, been using it since I got the Nexus, works really well and the start screen looks really professional, you can open it up and google search something straight away, really handy
Try Dolphin
I have tried various browsers including Chrome, Opera, Opera Mini, and Maxthon, but settled on Dolphin on my One S and, now that they've fixed some KitKat bugs, on the Nexus 5.
Dolphin is fast and smooth (ver. 10.2.1) although the UI is a bit awkward. Not as bad as Chrome's though. Unfortunately Dolphin doesn't even have a way to import bookmarks from other Dolphins on the same device. Nevertheless, it does seem very good, and much better than Chrome.

Mine doesn't do this - mine doesn't auto refresh or lose it's place. Have you installed a custom ROM or kernel on your Nexus 5 or running stock? Is Chome up-to-date? (an annoyingly stupid question but has to be asked)
Try Boat browser. You won't be dissapointed.
You might like Mercury.

no need to use chrome anymore, theres 'boat' loads of browsers! pardon the pun! waiting for a ported AOSP browser for n5

I tried, i like it haha but damn the UI it's a complete ripoff from IOS' safari, i didn't see a big difference regarding scrolling performance (vs Chrome) but at least it never froze like Chrome does
UPDATE: I take it all back; I accepted an update for Jetpack and now none of the Dolphin browsers I have--Dolphin, Dolphin Beta, Jetpack--will play html or flash videos. I am trying UC Browser which is really fast, even compared to Dolphin, but doesn't seem to respond automatically to links from other apps--e.g., google's gmail app or the google search app that came on the N5; you have to copy and paste the url manually into the browser. Obviously unacceptable.
The stock browser.

Puffin browser is next on your list to try.
Other option, UC Browser. to me they both are some of the fastest.

Forgot to mention that native flash is also supported.
Just grab a apk from adobe
Have you checked out opera beta? If you haven't but decide to, make sure you visit opera:flags There are some options that can improve the experience.
koeASOP 4.4.2 w/ Franco kernel
Anything, but chrome.

If you're going to use the stock browser I suggested extracting apk from a Cyanogenmod ROM and installing it in your rom. All its option works including Private browsing. It works perfectly well compared to the one you download from play store.
