Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Xiaomi Mi 6, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Xiaomi Mi 6 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Despite some problems with ROM , kernel and source releases.... it's a damn good phone (by its price) !!!!
Even though Mi6 hardware is a beast MIUI is lacking a lot so until there are kernel sources and decent AOSP based ROMs it's not the best Android experience you can get.

Flash Epic ROM
i will get it tommorow cant wait it so exited
Considering getting this phone as a lower cost alternative to the Galaxy S8 Plus, for many of the same reasons I got a Motorola Moto x Pure rather than a Samsung Galaxy S5 back in 2014. It's cheaper, I am not a phone audiophile, don't really care about perfect screen resolution or color, But I do need good picture quality, speed, and the ability to give it voice commands.
Nearly a year has passed, has the MIUI stabilized or been improved since these comments were posted?
Thanks!

I really like some of the reviews with blue color on youtube, but in all the sales site photos, that color blue looks way lightwer and I prefer a darker midnight blue like in the videos.
Yes, last update fixed notifications and other little theme bugs in Miui Oreo. It's fine and stable. I feel battery is going a bit faster, but maybe is because i have allot of apps and didn't do any factory reset at upgrades. However, for me it last about two days, and i use phone a bit.. . It's still the same in have games as PUBG.
Perfect and nice

You guys already have a mod like this...kind of:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/take-control-of-your-htc-one-x-cores-with-corecontrol/
While it's not a mod per say, it's essentially the same concept: turn the cores off and on at will. The mod for the EVO LTE is simply turning on the 2nd core and leaving it on...pretty sure this gives you the same power.
I posted in vipers thread about getting it to work with the One X. I posted the file from our phone that needs to be modded for him to look at, when he gets back to me I'm going to post it over here.

yeah i looked in to it but was confused. Original OP said he added two lines. When i searched it i found like 3 instances of the same line so i was unsure about just changing something, didnt think that would work... but i have no expertise to base it on, just assumption.
Check the DEV section. This has been ported over.
Coming from a Oneplus One, I was very unhappy with the SD808 performance. Even with no wakelocks, no apps running in the backround, on stock rom and on Truepure MM, on stock kernel and on Frankenkernel, there was always lag.
I did some reading and came across this, which I think may be useful to a lot of people on here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557
I'm currently running the "Nexus 5x Butterfly" profile from this post with EX Kernel Manager:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64645746&postcount=900
To do this, you'll need:
-Bootloader unlocked + TWRP + Root
-Frankenkernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/kernel-frankenclark-t3289939
-ElementalX Kernel Manager or your favorite kernel manager if you don't mind entering manually. (DO NOT USE KERNEL ADIUTOR, latest version has governor-tuning related bugs that reset values when trying to tweak other values. If anyone knows of a free kernel-tuning app that doesn't have this bug, let me know so I can add to this post.)
Phone is fast, animations are buttery smooth at x0.75, no longer heats up during long gaming sessions, and battery life seems much better than stock. Would love to hear feedback from others who have tried this!
I can't run stock MM on mine due to the lag. But on Lollipop it's pretty smooth. As smooth as any phone I've had (but considering it's also the newest phone, I also expected more leaps and bounds better performance). I suggest trying a custom ROM or switching back to LP and just using GravityBox. AICP appears ready for DD. Some builds are better than others though. So if you get a laggy build, try another.
Just checked out the links. Sounds like KTKernel and how you could install profiles, or make your own. Darnit...now that I just got all set up on stock LP and I'm happy with my phone, now I want to update to MM again to see if these profiles help with the scrolling through mud lag.

I'll try to record a before and after video tonight and add it to the OP. It's a pretty huge difference.
I might just use a flashable zip, if we have one. That way I'll keep my LP bootloader so I can always restore my backup if I don't like it. I loved the layers support for MM.
Afaik all the stock roms lag. I'm having no issues on AICP. Thanks for the settings though, if I ever go stock again I'll make sure to use it.
The files format extention is txt, should I just rename it? When searching through the sd card with ex kernel manager it doesn't find the settings
I believe the instructions say what you need to do with .txt part. In fact I know they do lol.

Curious. Where are you experiencing the lag? I've only found it unbearable in Chrome with sites running heavy Javascript code.
Care to be more descriptive of this "lag" you are talking about. I also had a OnePlus One and I would say performance is about the same.

Try scrolling and watch the screen. Notice it can't keep up with your thumb, it's all stuttering and jittery, trailing behind. And when you open a menu or pop up, the moves in with 3 steps, instead of seemlessly and smoothly moving in.
You can open titanium and try to scroll, or open settings and click "apps", or even scrolling in the settings. Scrolling in TT is unbearable. Chrome is not as bad, but still can't keep up, and stutters while scrolling.

What ROM are you on? Have you used FrankenKernel before (if not, maybe a bad download)? What exactly did you do? The EX Kernel Manager wouldn't stop you from booting, since there's a delay between finishing booting and when settings get applied. Betting this is related to flashing FrankenKernel.

Well, that's what I was afraid of. But then I hear other users say they have noticeable lag since MM and I know it's not me. On LP it's pretty smooth. But on MM it's garbage.
I don't think I could send it in for a replacement. I'd be without a phone for too long. Plus it's unlocked.

The EX kernel manager's CPU settings never keep when I load up a profile, very odd.
I might just stick with the kernel auditor or whatever the hell it's called.
I did a quick search in the other thread and I can't find the answer. I can't seem to find the gov_profiles folder to put the profile you recommend into. Any ideas?

Hi,
Every KitKat Rom that I tried was affected by some kind of battery draining bug which has to do sth with Google Play services. Can you recommend a fix which works by doing it a single time? Uninstalling/stopping Google play services fixes the problem for a few hours only.
However, I would prefer a rom which is not affected By the bug out of the box.
I'm testing Racpu_ cm11s. Was having Google Play service wakelock, but learned somewhere on Oneplus forum about this: Install Disable Service from play store, switch to system tab, check SystemUpdateService. That somehow eliminates the wakelock. Today is 2nd cycle, 4hr screen on for youtube netflix under wifi, still rocking 48% of battery.
Cool, Ty, didn't know about this Bugfix, will try it. Why are you testing kitkat Roms in 2016?

Since I opened this thread, I am on Karbon kitkat which seems to be a fork of Slimxxxx
Fortunately, I did not get an always active bug until now, so I didn't try your Bugfix.
How much SoT do you get with your roms and which configuration.?
Most times I get 4 hours with the following config
- brightness static 50%
- sync, tapToWake and offscreen gestures off ( just in case...)
With following usage profile:
- no 3d
- no video (out of short clips)
- chrome, messenger, quora, Google news
- telephone 45min
- 75% WiFi, 25% 3G

With Racpu's cm11s and Slimsaber KK build, I didn't get to use the battery all the way to like 1%, but I already got 5hr SOT before that. Here are more details.
Racpu's:
- auto brightness
- youtube and netflix a lot, some xda and chrome, abou 30min phone call
- always on wifi
- greenify in exposed mode
Slimsaber KK:
- auto brightness
- 3hr LTE, rest on wifi
- about 2hrs of youtube and netflix
- 40min navigation with google maps
- a few camera shots
Don't think this is scientific enough, but hope it gives some idea on my usage.

YouTube, video in general does really really impact SOT measurements. You get about 1,5 to 1,8 times more, I measured it a lot. Navigation is the other extreme : 3d, GPS and most times a high brightness because you are outside (on daylight)

Ah OK, that seems right. I didn't do such detailed research
Now I'm leaning towards what most people say: Battery life depends on how you use the phone.
Also, I think OPO has an amazing developer community and all roms are of high quality and yet retain their own unique qualities like functions etc.

Hey guys … we've had quite a bit of development in a very short amount of time since release. There are some very talented developers out there and a dedicated number of people making our already great phone even better.
So, I was curious to see at this point what Rom\Kernel Combo everybody is running to get the most out of the battery while maintaining performance!
Sound off on which rom\kernel combo you're using and post battery life screenshots if you have them!

SOT varies and depends on your usage.
Xxx+cleanslate
If you want a balanced kernel with a really good battery life, you should go with franco kernel. I achieved very good stand by and screen on time, even on the currently battrry-buggy OxygenOS 5.1.8. And if you want a light customizable ROM with quiet a few goodies, go with Renovate 3.2.

Is that stock options with Franco?
If I pick up my phone and use it all day in bed when I'm under the weather or when I'm home for the day with nothing to do I can get 7 hours of screen on time with constant usage at half brightness. When I am at work and have the phone with me and do a little gps etc I can get about 6 hours. It all depends on your usage and also your cell signal. The worse your signal is the faster it drains the battery. The more GPS you use the faster your battery dies. It doesn't matter which kernel I am running, (I'm currently on stock 5.1.8 with Magisk, Xposed & ElementalX) battery life is pretty much the same.

if you won't stop to believe that rom and kernel are responsible for SOT and standby drain you will never be able to 99.9 control and manage your battery usage.
it's all in user space as long as there is no know battery hog (know bug) in either rom or kernel.

Yep. Stock /w Franco.
If I'm looking for a lightweight and stable ROM that improves my battery life (this one is very important), which one is the best?
I don't care about extra features and customization. I just want stability, smooth experience and battery life.
No choice
Stock rom!
Lineage OS 16 night mode true black + magisk universal gsm doze module and L module in battery save mode + ex kernel manager and turn down one big cpu = 7, 8 SOT
Hilarious response

Official Lineage 17 is pretty good. Smooth and most importantly STABLE.
4h+ SOT from a full charge on (underclocked) ElementalX.
BlissRom for sure, 5h sot from full charge on stock kernel. Stable, ota updates and lots of features
If you have an european pixel, you need to flash the special kernel, otherwise no sound in calls

You don't need a guide, it's all in the ElementalX zip
Flash in TWRP and the installer will start automatically, there you can select the max frequencies for the little and big clusters.
Will this phone still last a day, even with the original battery, planning to buy one for $60?

Those estimations totally depend on usage, but in my experience it would last a day, with below 10% left at the end of the day. So the battery does not offer a usage time anything better than average.
e/ foundation I will say

Mine is like brand new when I bought it at Craigslist, lasted a day and a half, not a heavy user, not a gamer too... frequent YouTube's and Twitter
