WiFi strength, range, and throughput - Samsung Galaxy S8 Real Life Review

Rate this thread to express how you think the Samsung Galaxy S8's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?

the range actually is pretty good vs s7
but the speed is huge compared to s7 on a Linksys wrt3200acm router

I find the range to be lacking compared to my old LG V10 but the throughput is great.

Bluetooth issues
Dualshock 4 connects but no inpuit, when Bluetooth speaker is enabled the audio causes controls to be slow on gear vr

This thread is about Wi-Fi not bluetooth.

On the review section there is communications like radios but no section for Bluetooth. So I posted it here as it's the closest thing

I got an S8 today and tested it out and it was like maxed out at 39 Mbps when i have Gig internet, so dunno if there is something I gotta turn on or off, or just test it again later once its on network for awhile

Bluetooth antenna issues with the S7

I have a UK Galaxy S7 and I am wondering if anyone has had any issues with the bluetooth being perhaps a bit low powered. I have a Bose QC35 bluetooth headset and it works perfectly with my iPhone 6. I recently bought an S7 and the range seems to be awful with it cutting out anything more than a meter away. I have tried different orientations and it starts to stutter with my hand over the top of the phone (I assume the antennas location) specifically with it on my left side. I assume this is because the antenna in the Bose Headset is on the right ear cup. I don't have this issue with the iPhone so it must be a problem with the Galaxy S7. I returned the one I bought as I wondered whether my phone was specifically faulty and the issue is just as apparent on the new one. I have rooted my phone so I cant send it back and just wondered if anyone here had any ideas on what might solve it (can I lower the bitrate of the bluetooth compression some how?).
This video demonstrates how awful the stuttering problem is. The phone is within 1m range at all times and this cut out is obviously not acceptable. Here's a demo if it isn't clear.
The youtube embed doesn't seem to work so here: https://youtu.be/4m1G0YXRkLI
same issue still can't find a solution...
i do have the same issue, post about it here :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/galaxy-s7-europe-exynos-bluetooth-range-t3588047
my wifi reception is also bad, i get max 50 mbps on a 1gb fiber connexion, my old s4 is doing everything better and faster than the S7, i don't get it...

Ref the WiFi & cell signal I did notice my previous A5 2016 was reporting slightly stronger signals than my new S7. Tried another & it was the same. Weird.
I remember it was worse when I had a back case on it which I later lost getting into the Gear VR & that not accepting one. Not sure what you could use as a reference point though as the 'bar' system is frequently criticised for it's inaccuracies & there are a lot of signal apps out there to choose from.
Ref the WiFi do you have your router transmitting 5Ghz A/C? Only that's where the best speeds would be to be had with the S7 supporting A/C. Using my TP-Link VR600 transmitting a 5Ghz A/C 80 MHz signal referencing the Network Cell Info app I get about -40dBm with 866 Mbps link speed which gives me access to the full 80/20 offering of my fibre. With Wireless N rather than AC & on a 20Mhz 2.4Mhz channel I would be looking at a Link Speed somewhere in the region of 54Mbps. I wonder if that's where you are?

Cellular strength and throughput

We know how much you like to stream, ahem, "videos", and so cellular data is mega-important. Rate this thread to express how you think the Samsung Galaxy Note FE's LTE performs. A higher rating indicates that it's fantastic: throughput is excellent and signal strength is top-notch.

Right now the internet service is great but to call someone it's really hard even if they are right in front of you. I have t mobile.

Right now the phone call to someone is great, but the internet service is sluggish it's really hard to get stable upstream even if you are outdoors. I have at&t.
also, long range mobile data connection is fantastic, went to deep sea fishing during the weekend. got stable LTE signal and speed a few miles from the coast, what kind of modification reduce short distance but boost long range connection.

That's funny I have great internet service but no calling yours is exactly the opposite LOL!
Hi, I was having a problem too, it would mostly be connected to 3G instead of LTE, I'm on AT&T. I restarted the phone and it's working for a few days. I'll write again if it changes.

What is 3G for you AT&T and how did you do it? send screenshots if you can thanks.
sometimes will easily get disconnected from mobile network. not sure is the coverage or phone.

It's garbage. Sat next to the router it's normal speed but one room away it's unusable and I switch to mobile data.

I have the exact same problem with the WiFi.
We have a 50 mb connection. When I'm near the router it's ok. But like you said, move any bit away and it's so slow. If I go to the kitchen I get 0mb.
A couple of feet away and it's gone. All the other phones in the house are perfect.
Bad coverage and speeds.
Any fix for this?
What the hell? I just noticed that too, WiFi download performance is completely bull****! If I change room or get a few meters away from my router the bandwith gets to less than 100*kB/s (on a 2*MB/s connection!).
What can I do with that poor performance? Never seen anything that bad before, if I knew that before I wouldn't have bought it.
Wifi still shows a perfect signal strength (all the bars on WiFi icon). Also when I put my hand above the top right of the phone, there the WiFi is completely dead and I receive nothing at all.

Thanks for the link but how changing MAC address and IMEI number can help with WiFi issues?
So this problem comes from the antenna because the reception is really affected by the phone's position and angle. When I*turn 180° or when I tilt the phone upwards it starts getting better, but not as my old Ulefone Paris. Can't get over 1*MB/s at all with the Speedtest.net app.

Maybe to clear the cache and dalvik cache
Wiping cache and dalvik cache did nothing. Sadly I’m returning the phone, as I can’t live with a malfunctionning WiFi.
I think I’m gonna go with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 instead: better support, better ROM, better cameras, better performances, better battery life… It’s only not as pretty as the Elephone S8, has a micro-USB plug and the fingerprint scanner is on the back but hey, the advantages are quite big… =)
If you still have the option, you should return it

[Q] Note 10 Plus - Wifi Issues

So I have a brand new Note Plus that in two locations will connect to wifi, but I am experiencing significant packet loss (30-70%) if I ping from my phone to the router. Both locations use a Cambium E410 Wireless Access Point. I have taken it to 2 other places and experience no wireless issues.. I was trying to see if it was a 2.4 or 5Ghz issue potentially, but I can't see where in this version of android to force the Note to use 5Ghz vs 2.4ghz. Also trying to determine what other troubleshooting I could perform...
I have to problem with Wifi. Realy bad reception and when BT is on it's even worse. ???

Is the router wireless too? Then switch off the access point and try to connect to the router directly and check. For the best speeds, every wireless access point should be connected to the router with an Ethernet cable. Put all the above - both wireless access points and the router - all on the same ssid and password but different channels so they don't step on each other (which might also be the problem). Then, your devices will automatically connect to the one with the strongest signal and not even know or care about it. You will have to set the channels in use rather than leaving the devices on "auto". You can use "WiFi Analyzer" and "WiFi Tool" - both free downloads on the play store. Don't hide the ssid's - unless it is all working flawlessly - later .

Yes you are right, note 9 the range is better than note 10 plus, this is what disappointed me most.
The rest is ok, I had read note 10 only catch the signal is strong, if its weak it doesn't show in WiFi scanning.
Hope they can fix this.

WiFi strength, range, and throughput

Greetings from Greece. My name is Babis. I just bought Nokia 7.2. It's a very nice phone, although the Galaxy S6 Edge i had is better an some points. Anyway, i write this message to tell you about a problem that occured. I have 2 bluetooth headsets. One for outdoor activities (AWEI) and one for indoor as handsfree (SONY MDR-ZX220BT). The problem is that Nokia doesn't see the Sony headset. Although it recognises immidiately the AWEI headset. Also, it sees devices on other appartments. Amazing. I tried to switch off both and switch on again without any result. I also did a soft reset to Nokia and tried to connect again. No result to. Do you have any idea what's going wrong ? Or do you know who should i ask? Thanks in advance.
