1. With a SM-G955F device you WON'T get SM-G955T (T-Mobile USA) updates and you CAN'T install this via Odin because the -T- device has a different processor
2. You CAN'T get Bixby-voice on your device, because:
a. you DON'T have a US or Korean phonbe (where Bixby is released)
b. your CSC is of an international device
c. your Samsung-account is NOT US-model related
Just wondering: you live in the USA, why you bought the "international" -F- model?
In the USA you can buy the "unlocked" -U- version of the S8+...
By the way: you don't have to SHOUT in a message: normal text is better read!
It was a gift so no type of rooting or XDA MAGIC CAN GET BIXBY VOICE AT ALL can we change the Software to us version some how?

Basically flashing means just loading something custom into your android phone (which must not be done without proper knowledge about it)
Apkmirror is just websites where you get android package files (apk) (applications).
You can change your csc to usa but you have to flash a custom recovery then proceed further, which will trip your knox and you would lose WARRANTY, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TO DO THIS WITHOUT PROPER EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE
Hit thanks if it helped you:good::good:

This is not entirely true. You can get Bixby by flashing a ported CSC file (risky, backup EFS).
THIS WILL TRIP KNOX.
Download and Install TWRP on your device. (ODIN). [at this step, knox is tripped].
Use the CSC switcher here and select the ported XAA unbranded USA CSC. (You will get a warning that this is risky, but it works).
Reboot, and download all the latest 6 apks of Bixby from apkmirror.
Go to Samsung Apps and install all updates.
Opening Bixby will prompt you to configure Bixby Voice.
PS: Your Samsung account has to be set to the USA, create another one if not.
Hey, can we get one more thread today asking if we can get Bixby on an international S8+. It's only been asked about three or four times a day in different threads everyday since Bixby was released.
NO you can NOT get Bixby without rooting and tripping Knox. Yes, flashing a custom recovery and CSC will trip Knox. No, Bixby is not worth it.
Bixby voice will come out eventually for the exynos versions. The US gets all services first just be patient

im sorry if this is in the wrong section but ,ok so i bought an open box galaxy s6 from becetech online and it would not let me update the firmware past 5.1.1 which made me a bit suss, downloaded root checker app and it came too me rooted. apart from not being able to update the firmware past 5.1.1 as far as im aware the phone has no issues and works perfectly fine. i downloaded the *samsung* phone info app, in general under manufacturer it says Samsung/verizon so im assuming that is part of the reason they rooted the phone as it needed to be unlocked from verizon to be refurbished? so what i want to know is how do i find out exactly what becetech have done to the phone and is there an easy way for me to update the firmware to nougat or at least marshmallow without stuffing the phone, like i said the phones running fine its just really bugging me not being to update. obviously im not able to work it out myself but i can follow instructions so any help from someone would be greatly appreciated so thank you in advance.

Could someone with a bit more knowledge please tell me if the reason I can't update the firmware is because the firmware csc is TGY when I'm in Australia or just because it's rooted or what? I'm getting no answers from the company who I bought it off

Are you trying to update via the phone update feature? If so this won't work as rooting disabled the ability Update using ota
First I tried OTA then downloaded samsung smart switch and gave that a go both no good. What I want to know is, if they had to root the phone to refurbish it will it brick it if I try to update? Won't it reset all the company I bought it off has done to it to refurbish it? Which I'm guessing is quite a process as when I look at the open source licenses there's a long list of files that have been changed. It just sucks that it's locked to a three year old version of the firmware that I'm worried apps will start to stop supporting in the near future? Apart from that I can not fault the phone there's been no problems, maybe I'm asking a bit much for a $400 phone?

From what I can tell you have a g920v variant if the phone Shows Verizon but the sure fire way to know what variant you have is turn the phone off once off hold home-power-volume down, this will take you to download mode but should tell you your variant. You don't need to root a phone to refurbish It, you can flash Stock firmwares via Odin. I really don't know why they would have Rooted It tbh, you'd need to contact them, but I know for sure you can manually download the latest Verizon firmware and the phone should work. Maybe they Rooted it as part of making it network unlocked, o really can't say
Ok I tried that and a bright blue screen came up warning about custom OS then press up volume for download and down volume for reset? I just pressed down as there was no other info on the screen but it does say it's a sm-g920v in the settings as well as the root checker app. Another thing was I did ring samsung support gave them the serial number and IMEI and they said an authorized modification had been done on the phone but could offer no other support as it wasn't an Australian phone. I'll keep trying to get some info out of the company I bought it off and try to sort it out thanks for your help :good:
Solved
Used patched version of odin to flash the samsung unlocked firmware (G955U1) from the firmware servers. No more Verizon Splashscreen and spay/bixby work fine
I've been using android devices all my life and have rooted every single device I've owned in the past (probably 4-5 devices). I know the risks and I know how to flash my device and such but I got my S8+ from verizon about 3 months ago before the international unlocked version was released. I only bought it from verizon because their phones are carrier unlocked by default. I use google's project fi.
Verizon is somewhat good with bloatware I can disable or uninstall all of their applications and I haven't found my device to be slowed or burdened by their addons so I never felt the need to root my device which was nice but I got the Bixby update today and I cannot use it unless I update my system software. Tried to update it and it attempts to connect via verizon and ultimately fails saying it cannot connect to the update server. I expected this -- I think it's due to me not using verizon and not having the phone registered with their service.
Want to use Bixby and also would like to flash a stock updated (latest stock version) ROM as I don't care for any new features or custom ROMs because this phone is perfect as it is so far.
Phone software/model specs:
model is SAMSUNG-SM-G955U
kernel version 4.4.16 march 11th, 2017
sev 8.1
android 7.0
aspv march 1st, 2017
knox 2.8
If I follow my usual rooting route properly is it safe to root my phone? Asking because S8+ root is relatively new. I won't ever sell the phone so I don't care if the warranty goes void or something like that.
Essentially looking to turn my Verizon version into a completely US unlocked phone with a stock clean ROM. Is there any possible way I can perform this and still be able to use Samsung Pay? Not a necessity but I do enjoy it.

Alright, If I flash the newest version of the samsung firmware onto my device (force update it) will SPay and Bixby still work? And my Knox will be fine?
Both should be intact and working as far as my knowledge goes Bixby for sure spay shouldn't be affected. Let me get this straight you have a Verizon s8+ flashing the unlocked firmware correct?

I have the S8+ G955U. It's verzion and has the ****ty verzion startup screen and sound it's just annoying. I really want to use Bixby voice as I just got the update from samsung but it says I have to have the newest samsung firmware to use it. I cannot update my phone normally because I don't use verizon I use google fi. So I want to try to flash the standard US carrier unlocked firmware onto my phone from sammobile (not the verizon variant). Is this safe?
the firmware list I'm choosing from: (spaces added so because account is not old enough to post links)
www . sammobile . com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G955U/
Which one on that list should I use? Obviously I'd choose the first one which is the Verizon firmware but I really would like to just have pure Samsung unlocked stock firmware so I don't have verizon apps & the verizon startup screen.
That's a tough decision I too have a Verizon s8 and it was plagued with the bloat and the splash screen when booting but I used a package disabler to get rid of many if the unwanted and unnecessary packages I didn't like as for using Bixby and getting rid of the splash screen.... It is safe to flash unlocked firmware many people have done this and there is a thread here on xda somewhere all about carrier switching the s8+ to the unlocked firm I could find it if you'd like?

If you could get that thread for me that'd be perfect. Thanks for the help. Really wishing I waited the extra 3 weeks and bought the unlocked version instead.
Updating because I was able to solve it myself. I used a patched version of Odin to bypass the model mismatch error and flashed a new system image and csc (G955U1 model image) that wasn't for my G955U Verizon model.
Bixby works, KNOX is fine, SPay is solid. Verizon splash screen is gone and the phone (from the settings point of view) has no carrier and is fully unlocked and void of bloatware.
Hi guys,
I was hoping someone could help me out. I have rooted before (long time ago) but I can't seem to find a lot of information on this specific phone (SM-J727S). I have been searching online (and across many dodgy looking websites, thanks No Script!) and this is about all that I have found:
The Galaxy J7 is also known as the Galaxy Wide 2 in South Korea
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=device&id=11601&c=samsung_sm-j727s_galaxy_wide_2
It was released on May 2017, runs Android 7.0 (Nougat) and uses the Exynos chipset
TWRP has a release for the J700 series but I'm not sure if it would work on the J727S
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxyj7exynos.html
The source code for the system has been released, but I couldn't find a stock ROM (which made me reluctant to try TWRP)
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=j727s
This is the closest I got to a Stock ROM but I don't trust the site, is this site trustworthy? (again, I came across too many dodgy sites to just download anything)
https://stockromupdate.com/2017/07/26/stock-rom-sm-j727s-samsung-galaxy-wide-2/
The KingRoot method currently will not work and is asking me to wait for an update (phone is probably too new to root?)
The closest thing I can find on this forum are these posts (but none reference the J727S model)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/development/root-sm-j727p-galaxy-j7-perx-td-lte-t3611202
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/help/root-sm-j727p-galaxy-j7-perx-galaxy-j7-t3598117
So, I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance
I'd thought I'd mention that the bootloader is unlockable in this phone. I had read elsewhere that other people cannot access the 'OEM Unlock' option on their version of the J7. It isn't the case with this phone
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/help/galaxy-j7-pop-galaxy-halo-t3647805/page2
I also got a message from Google talking about my accounts being accessed by a 'J7 Pop'. I guess the Galaxy Wide 2 is also known as the J7 Pop?
So, I'm still on the track of rooting this device. I'm just gonna update any relevant stuff here.
The closest TWRP that I can find is for the 2016 version of this phone, it has the same Exynos chipset.
I'm thinking of trying this, but are there any problems with flashing the wrong version of TWRP? (Will I brick the phone? Or will it just error-out on recovery and boot normally?)
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxyj72016exynos.html
I also found (what I believe to be) the Stock ROM for this type of phone, you have to sign up to the site in order to download it. It is specific to SK Telecom (Korean telecommunications provider)
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/samsung-galaxy/SM-J727S/SKC/download/J727SKSU1AQD6/172065/
If someone can advise about going forward with the similar TWRP version I'd appreciate it. Cheers!
EDIT: Kinda answered my own question, from the TWRP download page https://dl.twrp.me/j7xelte/
Downloading an image for a different device, no matter how similar, usually does not work.

Hi.. I've this model also.. tried to downgrade..but it can't..always failed
My friend was installing the twrp to root a J7 metal.
Now the cell phone does not restart, and I do not know what the **** it did KKkkkkkkkkkk
It wants to remove the twrp without formatting the device.
If installing the original rom by Odin using home_csc does it return to normal without formatting?

Tripped knox is forever. There is a fuse that blows on the phone. That said, there are workarounds on rooted phones (you might as well stay rooted). Try looking for edits for the build.prop to restore functionality to Samsung Health and other affected apps. Dr Ketan still makes ROMs I believe and should have something for you.

I don't want to be rude, but your question was answered already. You can't untrip the know counter. It's an actual fuse, that physically becomes blown. This isn't a software setting, but an actual, physical fuse.
It goes back to the days of people using exploits, and in rare cases would damage their phone in the process, but the phone worked enough to relock the bootloader. Then the person would send their phone back and blame it on the manufacturer. So now Samsung decided to put in an actual fuse so that if you decide to unlock it, your warrenty is permanently void.
Bottom line, your out of luck. I know any unlock would have given a warning that it is PERMANENT and that it would VOID YOUR WARRENTY. Wether you read it and ignored the warning, or didn't bother to read it, it's on you for unlocking your bootloader.

Yea I remember those days... Well truth is I haven't rooted.. I was considering it until I read the warranty part... My point is, the reason I want it rooted is because I want to use some modded applications. I researched further and found out I could use some without even rooting. So i tried downloading Spotify mod app, but unfortunately it didn't work. I couldn't get recent application for it, what I kept getting was an outdated mod app. In all it didn't work. So am asking if there's a way to use mod apps without rooting the phone. Thank you

You'll have to wait until someone mods the latest app. Or, you could just pay for Spotify. For the record, I used to use a modded Spotify, and they typically patch within a day or two of a modded apk being released. They may have finally switched to server side authentication which is why your likely not seeing an updated version. I stopped bothering because it's just a cat and mouse game. I didn't feel like Spotify was worth it, so I moved on.
I find Google Play Music is a better deal. I get add-free YouTube, and all the same music as Spotify, for the same price.
On a side note, I don't believe Xda allows modded apks that bypass paid features. There are sites that cater to such things, but I'm pretty sure it's a no-no here. They tend to support devs / companies as opposed to cheating them out of money.

Hi, you can flash the U1 firmware on the Sprint 965U. You need to use the patched Odin linked in the OP. The CSC file included is for multiple carriers. When flashing it will read your sim and setup accordingly.
Umm what's new? The "I" September patch Odin's have been out since mid September.

The thread provides detailed instructions and the most current firmware. The instructions are new to the thread and so are the links. Didn't realize I was required to explain what was new to you.
Uploading G965USQS3ARIB firmware now.
Hi, Q. If I install the ARIB version in my U1 under att, I still can use another carrier sim right?
I'm traveling to Argentina soon and I want to know that.
Thanks
Should be fine , your U1 is unlocked. The sim card in Argentina might not set up the APN for you regardless of what firmware you're on. Personally, I would use the U1 firmware though.

I don't use the "B" revision firmwares, but there was at least one listed as a BOYD firmware. Since your already on U1 and loosing wifi-calling, HD voice, volte, etc, that might give you the best luck. Might be something to look into.

Sorry, didn't understood your response. Is that an yes besides regaining the features of HDVoice, volte and Wifi Calling?
Thanks

You asked about sim swapping for traveling. The BYOD firmware makes for easier sim swapping. It's designed to populate the carrier settings when you insert a sim instead of needing to wipe your device.
As for ATT features, I believe those firmware are for the U firmware, so yes, you'd regain those features, but you'd get the ATT bloat. I don't mind the bloat personally. I just remove the junk I don't need.
Hi,
I have a S7 (Canadian) with the following firmware: G930W8VLS4CRH1_G930W8OYA4CRH1_XAC (Oreo 8.0.0)
I need to remove the FRP lock on it, but I am not managing to get the correct combination file for it. All the ones I am getting are FA60 instead of FA70 OR FA80 and the wrong binary.
Can someone help with the right combination file or what can be done to remove the FRP on this.
Thanks
GC
Hello Im waiting on my samsung S7 in the mail. Im very familiar with rooting and android. I own 2 samsung tablets the Tab A and the S2. Ive never heard of a combination file. I have the G930F international unlocked coming I don't know what region or firmware it's on. It's supposed to be new returned condition. I have had them lie before on eBay and say it was new and when I get it there's already been a firmware update like my S2 tablet was on nougat so I'm thinking it'll probably be the same thing this time. Im hoping it's still on marshmallow firmware when I get it. Can I update with different region firmware? I'm American so I was going to flash Oreo BTU United kingdom. But thanks for the help. Yes help me out I
What's the u1 and he mean also?
On 8.0 you cannot use combination to reset frp anymore must use service box
