Few questions about S3 - Samsung Gear S3

Hi,
I'm deciding between the Samsung Gallaxy Gear S3 and Garmin Fenix 5.
I had the Fenix 5 for the weekend, and was quite happy with it. Lot of Sport activity function (more than I needed) good gps tracking (GPS+glonass) watterproof, and very good battery life.
Only problems was the price ($799) and I was missing some smart function like canned replies, notification about calendar appointments, dismiss call with automatic message, and the display was not that good (mainly indoors). Also there are not that many good appls for it.
So Now I'm looking for the SGG S3, but I have some questions and I found nowhere answers for it:
1.) How is the integration with Endomondo?
1.1) Is the endomondo app working offline? (I don't have to carry my phone with me)
1.2) If not, are there some posibilities to sync data s Health -> Endomondo? (automated, not manual)
2.) What is the watch GPS accuracy? I saw somewhere, that there were in 6miles a 1 mile deviation between S3 and GPS tracked by phone.
3.) what about the HR monitor? I saw some cases, that the HeartRate went above 200+ - was it fixed already?
4.) are you happy with the amount of applications for the S3?
That's all for now.
Thank you in advance

Endomondo works great on S3. But Ive found ypu need yo make sure that when you are ready to load that app to the watch, that it's NOT on the phone at that time. After it's on the watch, follow the watch prompts to add to the phone.

The heart rate monitor works well for me. On longer bike rides I ranged probably 120 to 175 bpm.

No problems with Endomondo. The GPS accuracy is good too. I don´t own a compatible HR strap, so I don´t know how that works.
I am more than satisfied with my S3 I use it everyday for sports, work, listening to music, phone calls, messaging and finding my way around (I can recommend Gear Navigation for that!).

Comfy band I got from Amazon

[APP] [2.2+] PhoneLeash:SMS,missed call to email/SMS; SMS reply; GPS

[Post updated to point to latest version on Android Market]
Hi XDA community!
Our first app PhoneLeash is on the Android Market (free).

I like to call it the "misplaced phone app" since its meant for the more common occurrence of your phone simply not being near you, rather than being stolen.
PhoneLeash has features for finding your lost phone (or at least confirming where you think you left it) while also letting you know who is calling/texting meanwhile. Its not trigger happy (yet!) about wanting to wipe all the data the minute you see your phone isn't with you
We are trying to get the right balance of features, here is what we have now:
GPS locating
SMS/missed call forwarding to email or phone
Reply to SMS
Low battery alert
Remote ring
Privacy (no website tracking your phone)
Battery life -- after all you won't be using these features much of the time, so why have features that constantly drain your battery.
Unique feature - With PhoneLeash you can (remotely) reply to an SMS, and it goes out from your phone - the other side simply cannot tell the difference. While new and unique, we want to make sure we keep it simple to use. Speaking of simplicity, all of PhoneLeash fits in 1-2 spartan screens.
We've tested with Go SMS, Handcent to make sure PhoneLeash works with their default settings. PhoneLeash can also forward to HeyWire SMS numbers as well.
We found out that some tablets (Galaxy 8.9) do SMS but no telephony, so those are supported now as well.
If you can give it a try, we'll be very thankful. And ask for features - maybe they'll happen!
Thanks!

Here is a link and some screencaps of the new features in v 1.5
I am not a Twitter-user (tweeter?) but just used PhoneLeash to send in my first tweet from my phone. Sent this SMS from Google Voice to my PhoneLeash-ed phone-- "40404 here's a random tweet"--and by magic it showed up in my Twitter account!
on i 9000?
Is it available on samsung galaxy i 9000?
Very cool. I will test it out soon.

Weather Station app uses the 3 fancy sensors of the S4

I made this post on the AT&T S4 section, but thought you guys would be interested in it too! There's also a post about this app in the international S4 Themes and Apps section, but I decided to make a new one here with my findings on the Weather Station app that utilizes the thermometer, barometer, and hygrometer sensors found in the S4. Enjoy....
I was showing off the device the other day and remembered that it had those sensors, so I quickly searched for this app, downloaded it, and had to keep reminding the people I was with that this wasn't network data it was polling, it was actual sensor data found right from the device! Pretty cool stuff.... it gets better though!
I have a pretty awesome desktop weather station that displays indoor and outdoor temp and relative humidity, and decided to compare findings - obviously, I'm not trying to claim that either one is 100% accurate, just wanted to compare between the two. Here are my results:

}
Note the labels above and below the desktop weather station to designate the outdoor and indoor sensors (there is a physical, wireless sensor outside the house that transmits the temp and RH to this station, so this too doesn't poll network data just like the S4 does not). While holding it for a few seconds to get a good, focused shot with my point-and-shoot Samsung CL65, the temp went up on the S4, pictured left, with the Weather Station app running, giving me temp, pressure, and relative humidity in my preferred units of measure. Pretty good, huh?
If you're wondering, yes, I live in FL, and yes, outdoor RH is always crazy high! By the way.... How crazy is it that my PHONE has more sensors than this singular purpose desktop weather station? If you're looking for the best place to get this desktop weather station I have, try Sam's Club.
Excellent. I downloaded it and will give it a shot. Thanks for mentioning it!
I too want to say thank you. I havnt really played with it yet. But my friend has like 50 digital and non-digital thermometers lol i will test it at his house haha., Either way this is a pretty sweet way to use the phone.
Thx for posting this...as a weather forecaster by trade I think its awesome this phone has a sensor that measures temp and pressure.
Something I will for sure brag about to my co-workers who are iphone users.

Gear S3 to sensitive?

Hi!
I've been using te Gear S3 for 5 days now. And I feel the acelerometer or something could be a little too sensitive.
I had the wrist gesture turned on and I turned it off since que it was all the time turning the screen on. While sitting at my desk, or while driving, it keep turning on.
One other thing that i'm starting to notice is that it seems to over register things. Just the other day I went to the gym, and it says I've climbed 66 floors!
One other thing is that I work sitting a look and it barely seems to register that I'm sitted. It seems only when I'm very still, watching TV, that it register that I'm sitted.
Do you have similar behavior? See the picture for the activity. Does this seems normal for someone that works at a desk?

Could I have hardware malfunction?
Your stair climbing numbers seem to be just the opposite of what most people are experiencing. Like mine, it seems like most people complain about it not registering stair climbs instead of what you're seeing. I have to pick my arm up and make a good turn before my face turns on. You could try resetting it, but I guess that would mean seeing it up again. It does seem like yours is too sensitive though.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm returning it today. Just last night it registered I've been up 4 times, while I was sleeping! And stills indicates I've been 12h standing everyday!
I have a Polar M400, is not equally good looking has the Gear S3, but sure is a lot more accurate. I'll try to trade it for another unit. If I get the same result, I'll look for other brands. What good is for a smartwatch if is not that smart?

Other than the stair climbing being off, I've found all the other sensors very accurate. I've compared all the other sensors against multiple other devices and all seem to be right on.

Just got a gear S3 and got some questions!

Just got one for a father's day gift and I've been using the watch for the past week. Love it, but can't stop feeling that I'm not using it to its full potential. Thought maybe if I got some questions answered here, I would feel better.
1. what's the GPS, Wifi options for on the watch? I don't have GPS on right now, but Wifi is enabled. Not sure what app uses it, but I thought everything was connected to the phone through BT, so didn't need additional connections on the watch. Can someone clarify?
2. The weather app that's pre-installed is slow to refresh...meaning when I travel from city to city, I want to know what the weather is like in the next city (current temp, etc.), but can't for the life of me figure out how to manually refresh current location?
3. I only can read the last message in a string of text messages....is there no way to look at all unread on the watch?
Thanks in advance for your help guys!
Gps: use for workout apps, tracking distance, Mapping, directions. Wifi in case you don't have phone nearby-can use Wi-Fi service where you are. The Gear S3 can operate on its own, without having to be connected to the phone.
Weather app- well you can manually refresh it and it should update when you so that. Also many weather apps available for it.
Messages - you should be able to scroll up once you click on the person, to see previous messages.
It can be a stand alone phone-if you left your phone at home and it's on, you can use the watch as a phone and receive and make calls on it, as long as it was Bluetooth connected to the cell phone before you left.

Question Alti-Barometer app with Tile on Watch4?

I have had the Watch4 Classic now for almost a week and I have to say I'm liking it very much. Coming from a Galaxy Watch (1). One omission that really bothers me is that they did not include an app like Alti-Barometer on the watch4. I used this app a lot for both the altimeter and barometer. It was very helpful. I have spent a fair amount of time looking for a similar Wear app with no success. I have found similar altimeter app that I'm using but struggling to find a barometer app that has graph and trend. Does anyone have a suggestion?
This is tile for app:

This is the altimeter and Barometer:
calugij did create a Wear app but apparently in order to use the automatic calibration, the app needs to access weather data from an API service. The API service is not free so the development of this app is suspended.

Here's a prior thread with some info:
Alti-Barometer
Guys how can I find an Alti-Barometer application for my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic ? Anyone have any ideas, I would like to install the original one from the samsung store.

Thanks galaxys. Should have done search. Interesting the bit about compass app though really looking for chart for both and trend in Barometer. I find it odd that there is not a good barometer Wear app. Hopeful that will be addressed at some point but not hopeful given how long Wear has been out. It is really a shame calugj's app development was suspended. That app looked perfect.
As you mentioned, it's a shame there is no chart or trend in the Galaxy watch 4 like previous Tizen watches all had....
