Just got one for a father's day gift and I've been using the watch for the past week. Love it, but can't stop feeling that I'm not using it to its full potential. Thought maybe if I got some questions answered here, I would feel better.
1. what's the GPS, Wifi options for on the watch? I don't have GPS on right now, but Wifi is enabled. Not sure what app uses it, but I thought everything was connected to the phone through BT, so didn't need additional connections on the watch. Can someone clarify?
2. The weather app that's pre-installed is slow to refresh...meaning when I travel from city to city, I want to know what the weather is like in the next city (current temp, etc.), but can't for the life of me figure out how to manually refresh current location?
3. I only can read the last message in a string of text messages....is there no way to look at all unread on the watch?
Thanks in advance for your help guys!
Gps: use for workout apps, tracking distance, Mapping, directions. Wifi in case you don't have phone nearby-can use Wi-Fi service where you are. The Gear S3 can operate on its own, without having to be connected to the phone.
Weather app- well you can manually refresh it and it should update when you so that. Also many weather apps available for it.
Messages - you should be able to scroll up once you click on the person, to see previous messages.
It can be a stand alone phone-if you left your phone at home and it's on, you can use the watch as a phone and receive and make calls on it, as long as it was Bluetooth connected to the cell phone before you left.

For multiple message...I always see the number of unread message in a Circular icon at the bottom of the notification...I click on it...and all the messages are scroll-able.

I'm new to Tasker and have an idea which might be useful to those of us who worry about battery life (i.e. most Evo owners).
Here's the background. I use JuiceDefender to save battery life and it works okay. But I hate having to wait for JD to turn data on every 15 minutes to get emails (or even 5 minutes). While I don't always get multiple emails every 15 minutes, there are times when I do and with JD, the possibility of a delayed urgent message is a major drawback.
So my Tasker idea is this: 1) Set up gmail to forward new messages to my Evo via SMS (using [email protected]). 2) Create Tasker profile to turn off mobile data except when the screen is on. 3) Have Tasker watch for new texts from my gmail account. Upon receipt of such texts, turn data back on for long enough so that the Evo's gmail app has time to grab the new messages and then turn off.
Ideally, I'd like to have this profile set to silence new text notifications from my gmail account, so that I am not flooded with extraneous texts when the Tasker profile is not enabled.
If you think this is doable and potentially useful, and especially if you could help me create such a profile, please let me know.

AFAIK Tasker cannot turn off Mobile Data on CDMA phones. I have been unable to so far and I have not heard of anyone else being able to either. But, if you figure it out please let me know because I would love to do this also.

This has been added back in with the newest beta, available at http://tasker.dinglisch.net/beta
Been using tasker to toggle data on and off for awhile now. It works great

So now the question is whether we can use SMS to trigger data on.
EDIT: figured out how to get this to work, I guess tasker cant initially turn on 3g.
Hi everyone!
Today I've created a mockup of my own idea: A Quick Settings interface for Wear!
As lots of other users out there, I hate to scroll 5-6 times to finally turn on airplane mode when I want to use my smartwatch as a watch only. This would be a much better and of course, faster option to turn settings on- and off quickly with only one slide...
Maybe we could add Location and theather mode to the bottom line, but as I see, three icons would do the job.

I hope if we create a bit of a hype Google will consider creating something like this in the M edition of Android Wear...
Anyway... Do you like the idea?
Looks cool. Doesnt 5.1.1 already have something similar?
No, it does not. This is especially annoying because you cannot use WiFi directly without putting the device in airplane mode first.
This is awesome and would be incredibly useful for me.

Thanks! Feel free to repost on other forums! I hope if we reach out enough users Google would implement it in the next update

Why would you want to do this? Airplane mode disables interaction in the google apps. If you want to force wifi, better to turn bluetooth off on your phone.
The reason is if you want to use an app online. For instance, if you need a web browser or es file explorer on your watch. Bluetooth has no bearing. The system does not allow user apps to go online. There are two solutions (not one like I said before).
1, enable airplane mode, and then enable and connect to WiFi.
2, Put the app you want to have WiFi access in the system folder (I think both priv-app and app work).
Of course both have drawbacks, but that is the way it is right?

Apparently, like a lot of other solutions that have been found in android wear, there's an unofficial way to do things.
See web browser for a.w.
Looks awesome, maybe I'm slowly considering to get one of these petting watches
Yes please.
I like it ? should really be in it
yes please! I don't understand why google insists on coming up with a more "watch specific" interface for Wear, when scaling down vanilla android would have been a more familiar experience: pull down for toggles, swipe left/right to access your screens where you can deploy icons for quick launch apps, or one screen dedicated to notifications ala samsungs' touchwiz widgets page? I would pay for a mini version of Nova launcher on my watch.
Hi,
I'm deciding between the Samsung Gallaxy Gear S3 and Garmin Fenix 5.
I had the Fenix 5 for the weekend, and was quite happy with it. Lot of Sport activity function (more than I needed) good gps tracking (GPS+glonass) watterproof, and very good battery life.
Only problems was the price ($799) and I was missing some smart function like canned replies, notification about calendar appointments, dismiss call with automatic message, and the display was not that good (mainly indoors). Also there are not that many good appls for it.
So Now I'm looking for the SGG S3, but I have some questions and I found nowhere answers for it:
1.) How is the integration with Endomondo?
1.1) Is the endomondo app working offline? (I don't have to carry my phone with me)
1.2) If not, are there some posibilities to sync data s Health -> Endomondo? (automated, not manual)
2.) What is the watch GPS accuracy? I saw somewhere, that there were in 6miles a 1 mile deviation between S3 and GPS tracked by phone.
3.) what about the HR monitor? I saw some cases, that the HeartRate went above 200+ - was it fixed already?
4.) are you happy with the amount of applications for the S3?
That's all for now.
Thank you in advance
Endomondo works great on S3. But Ive found ypu need yo make sure that when you are ready to load that app to the watch, that it's NOT on the phone at that time. After it's on the watch, follow the watch prompts to add to the phone.

The heart rate monitor works well for me. On longer bike rides I ranged probably 120 to 175 bpm.

No problems with Endomondo. The GPS accuracy is good too. I don´t own a compatible HR strap, so I don´t know how that works.
I am more than satisfied with my S3 I use it everyday for sports, work, listening to music, phone calls, messaging and finding my way around (I can recommend Gear Navigation for that!).
Comfy band I got from Amazon

Hi all,
I'm deaf and recently had a newborn baby - the existing baby monitors for deaf people aren't very effective and due to the massively thick walls of our house, the monitor range only reaches less than 15% of our house and have no coverage in the kitchen & living rooms, the two most important rooms. So I'm looking into using an old smartphone with a baby monitor app. I've found Dormi which seems to work OK, and it shows up notifications in my phone's notification bar, however, nothing comes into the Gear, it keeps saying "No notifications received". I tried a test Whatsapp message and the notification comes up OK, and all other notifications works fine. I've double checked the settings and it shows that the baby monitor app notification for the Gear is enabled?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hey,
I noticed that the notification sync is not always that good and not all notifications are supported.
Notification cannot have the "Ongoing" status (ex. charging your phone) and need to be cancellable (be able to swipe the notification in order to close it).
It seems that the app you are using does not comply with those rules.
You could contact the developers and ask to support the gear OR you could create a flow or task in something like "Automate" to listen for the notification and automatically create a new notification that does sync to the watch.
Regards,
Davey

Thanks for this! I've already double checked this - it's already enabled and working. Tried turning it off and on again, no change. Thanks for your reply!

Hi there! My wife bought Versa 2 and paired with Huawei P30 Lite, according to Fitbit phone is supported.
It's working..... until is not. Sometimes seems not to sync. And not sure why.
I changed Fitbit app battery configuration several times, when doing watch is working perfectly, but time after time, watch just doesn't received any notificacion.
- Is there any way watch to advise user sync is not working?
I.e. I have an Amazfit Bip 1st gen and there is an icon for missing bluetooth (it depends of the watchface sure).
- Same from phone side, is there any way for APP to be always alive?
Again, Amazfit App has an option to be always in notificacion zone, to avoid being closed by OS.
Do someone has any app to look out for bluetooth connection? I want to be sure if bluetooth is the problem (maybe no). Other possibility is Huawei battery behavior, maybe close app even if I try not to do it.
To see if it works correctly I look at the weather app and see the update time, if it is more than 1 hours sync stopped and need force close phone app. Of course you need to exclude the Fitbit phone app from battery phone optimization
Nice. Also just "block" Fitbit app to not to be closed. Just slide to do it.
Seems to do the work.

Hi, sorry for late response, but have been extremely busy lately with other things. Problems between Huawei and Fitbit are very well know, supported or not. You can try this fix: Sync Fix for Fitbit and Huawei/Honor phones - Apps op Google Play . Kind regards, kuzibri
Hi,
I have one Versa 2 but i cant pair it with samsung galaxy S7 or S9.
Any ideia how to solve this ?
