Galaxy S8+ WiFi Issues - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi Everyone,
I have seen a few posts relating to WiFi Coverage and WiFi not re-connecting back to wifi automatically but my issue is a little different. I can be happily using my phone and surfing the net when an exclamation mark appears against the wifi symbol and i loose all internet access... but it is not just limited to internet access as when this occurs my access to my philips hue system goes as well.. i keep having to borrow my wifes iphone to turn the lights off...
Anyway, I have been into the samsung repair shop and they want to rip the phone apart and put in a new motherboard... seems a little extreme (and they couldnt do it on friday due to not having the parts, so its going in tomorrow) but i wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this??
Just to add, this happens when connected to other WiFi Hotspots and i have no issues with any of the other devices i have connected to my network
Cheers

Data Connection issues?

I've done a little searching, but I'm trying to get a definitive answer.
Does anyone else notice that the Nexus S (ATT), or any model for that matter, have an issue with connecting to networks, both WiFi and 3G/Edge?
I've never had a device take 30 - 60 seconds to connect to my wireless network at home until I bought this phone. I'm seriously considering taking it back due to this. I've had two samsung phones and both seem to have the same issue. I can see the devices find my wireless, as the signal meter comes up, but it stays gray and white. It takes it up to a full minute to turn green, indicating that it has received an IP address. Is this common? Are there roms out there that may resolve this issue?
If not, I think the Nexus will be going back soon and I will replace it with a device that will gather a signal much more quickly. My A500, NookColor, iPhone, iPod Touch, and any PC I have available take about 1/10 the time to have an IP address. I don't think it's anything with my network, as both the Nexus and the Infuse I had previously did this.
I am rooted and the bootloader is unlocked, so I can try a different ROM if there is one that will gather a connection faster.
Thanks.
No problem here in the UK on 3 network. If I switch my wifi on it connects to my router in seconds. Perhaps try NSCollab?

[Q] "other" WiFi issue??

Ok so it seems many people have some complaints about the WiFi on the One X but from what I have found, no one has the same problem as me.
When using WiFi after around an hour or so (seems to vary) of not being used the WiFi seems to loose connection, but it still says its connected and the only way you can tell it really isn't working is by trying to use the net in some way.
I turned on the "best WiFi performance" option and that seemed to stop the connection loss but really eats up the battery. So that is not a full time option.
I wonder if i should be taking this phone back and exchanging it (once they leave customs)
I also have an issue where when I put the phone in the car dock (unfortunately not the nice one that connects with the back contacts like I thought I had ordered but one that uses USB) when I take it out my lock screen no longer shows the weather when you hit the power button, I have to go back into the personalize settings and change it to another lock screen and then change it back.
Some detail: when connection is lost the phone is sitting in the same spot which is only about 3 feet away from the router. My previous TC Aria running CM7 would also lose connection occasionally but it was no where near as often as this. I thought that maybe it was my router seeing that its an old Linksys WRT54G Ver2 but no other devices that use WiFi have this issue. I updated to the leaked 1.82?? version but I still have all the same problems.
Anyone else have this issue? Think I should exchange?

[Q] Help with Dead Wifi all of a sudden

Hi guys-
I lurk here alot but don't post often- however today I am in dire straits.. hoping someone can help me.
I have an HTC Amaze (I know I know- I'm literally days away from a Galaxy Note3)
and although its old, its been a trooper for me- that is, until last night.
All of a sudden, the phone started going wacky when trying to connect to my home wifi network(s)
Every other device in the house connected fine, but the Amaze is having endless issues.
When I'm in the Wifi Networks display, it keeps jumping various networks up and down on the list, once in a while it might connect to one, but not for long. Again, these networks are working fine.
I've pulled the battery numerous times, but this issue persists.
Then today, I was out using 4G (which seems to work OK) and needed to tether my laptop. I turn on wifi tethering and my lap is now showing a "poor" to no signal from the phone. Its spotty getting it to connect to the HTC network.
This is def. different- it used to have full bars, especially with the phone close by, and it was literally right next to the laptop.
I fear that my wifi radio has died, or perhaps its software/driver related?
I'm posting here as an act of deperation, hoping perhaps there is a radio update I can download that someone knows about that may help me out..
Thanks for your time!:crying:

Please help!!! On 3rd Nexus 5, having same issues. Phone support is abysmal :(

I am having ongoing issues with the wifi on my Nexus 5. To the point I've received my 3rd one from RMA, but still have the exact same issue. At first I thought it may have been a hardware issue with the phone, so I RMA'd it. When I got my second and had the same problem, I started to not think it was a physical defect with the phone. The odds of getting two phones with the same issues would be astronomical. Now, on my 3rd, and still have the same issue. Every time I try calling and speak to phone service reps, they really don't know anything, and based on the questions they ask, or troubleshooting steps they suggest, lead me to believe they don't even understand the issue I'm trying to explain.
The wifi on my phone seems to "freeze", or stop working, stop scanning, something throughout the day. My day starts with my phone connected to my home wifi network. I leave for work, and I can watch my phone picking up random wifi signals on my drive. I get to work, and it picks up 8 wifi networks. None of which I've connected to. When I leave work 8 hours later, my phone is no longer picking up wifi signals, and won't scan for new ones. I get home, and it still says the 8 networks from work are in range, even though I'm miles away.
This is how my wifi list should look sitting in my living room. It has my network that it is connected to, as well as it picks up 4 of my neighbors networks.
This is how it looks sitting in my living room after getting home from work. Those are the 8 work wifi networks, which are miles away. It still says they're in range. You can see the last one cut off on the bottom, is my home one that says it's out of range.
I can hit the 3 dot option button, and choose "Scan", and it won't rescan. If the only issue was that it didn't pick up my network, I could see it possibly being an issue with my home network. But the fact that it still shows 8 networks that are out of range, as well as the fact it won't detect any network, mine or my neighbors, kind of rules out that it's an issue with my network.
Turning wifi on and off won't fix it. However, power cycling the phone will, or if I toggle airplane mode. But I shouldn't have to do that every day when I come home.
With my most recent Nexus 5, when I took it out of the box I didn't do a single thing to it, aside from turn it on, and manually put in the info to connect to my home network. Not a single app was downloaded, just to rule out it wasn't something I was installing on the phone. I absolutely love the Nexus 5, it's probably the best phone I've owned. But I am at my wits end with this issue.
Its probably not an actual fix, but I was having the same problems with mine, and I hate sending stuff back and play the waiting game over and over. So I got pissed off with wifi and just left it on LTE for a week or so and went back to wifi just to check up on the issue and it was gone.
Its been almost 3 weeks now and no problem, everything is working perfectly fine. LTE draining my battery was a pain thou but it paid off in the end somehow.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'd be happy with just about any fix, as long as it fixes the issue. LTE draining my battery wouldn't be an issue, I'd be more worried about my data. While I have "unlimited" data from AT&T, I get throttled after 5GB. Since I stream large amounts of music, I can blow through that rather fast. So I try to keep my phone connected to wifi as much as possible. But it definitely is something to suck up and try if I don't get a better solution. I have this cross posted just about everywhere I could think of.

Major wifi issue in pixel

Everything is smooth and perfect except Wifi.
I can found close wifi networks (Mobile hotspots created by other phones) but if I try to connect it just saves them, cannot connect to any wifi networks.
And the strength is too low. It is unable to find my room's wifi ...!!
So I am just totally unable to use wifi in my Pixel :/
Also I turn on Hotspot on my Pixel, it turns on but I cannot find it from other devices.
Also upgraded from 8.1.0 to 9.0 but still same issue.
Without Wifi its so miserable experience Any Solution?????
Yeah, same issue. It's a hardware thing. If you've dropped your phone either the cable came loose or the PCB board is off. I threw mine before (long story) but can't use wifi nor Bluetooth without being close to what I'm connected to.
I just don't feel like fixing it considering the pixel can break by repair. Plus, my 6p is my DD anyway
Dang, I gave my sister this phone and this problem just appeared. Time to look for a new phone for her.
Ok, being real for a second, this worked and I know it is a VERY BAD workaround but can help in a pinch.
I bought a refurb pixel on woot. Took a while to get it because it was sent to a friend's PO box and then brought to mexico, ergo no warranty.
Unboxed it and had this exact same issue; little to no signal on very few wifi hotspots and just "saving"
Seeing as this might be hardware related as @creep138 mentioned, I tried the following:
PRESS considerably hard on the point that the antenna connector should be.
After a couple of seconds of force and massaging, wifi came on and connected.
I KNOW this is a bad idea, I KNOW this might cause several issues on the long run, but if you have it sitting in a drawer doing nothing because of this issue, give it a try.
For reference this was done on a Verizon Black Pixel. The small one. and the point to apply pressure to is about half an inch below the camera and flash module.
Hope this helps

Status update:
After doing what I have already described, that helped to connect to the wifi at my workplace. Nonetheless I didn't have suck luck with my home wifi.
After reading here and there, some users reported the device connecting to 5Ghz wifi no problem. My work is indeed 5Ghz and my home is 2.4
After unpacking and installing a 5Ghz capable router, the pixel connected no problem to it (after applying the aforementioned pressure)
Hope this helps
