No, because the SoC doesn't support 5G.

Mate 10 will do

I think Mate 9 and Mate 8 will not support 5G network.

mate 9 is almost 2 years old model and 2 years ago chinese operators are not supported 5g standard yet. now some of them are upgraded and newest phones like mate 10 and honor 10 will support 5g.
but I think mate 9 is still great for 4g because it has dual sim dual active option (DSDA). so you can call using first sim and second sim card will be active and data will work so if you need to be always online, this is the great solution.
anyone know mate 10 will be DSDA too or only one sim card will be active ?

Mate 9 is Only 10 months old and Not 2 years, it doesn't support full active 2 Sims as you mentioned, and the last device from huawei was the P9 with DSDA.
FUTURE devicew will not support it as well.

I heard that asus is still producing devices with DSDA function (like zenfone 3 or smth).
huawei was great with mate 8, but this is old device already.

不支持。It won't support,because the Balong 750 only support 2G/3G/4G LTE Category 12/13.

Since the standards for 5G have not even been finalized by the ITU yet there are NO phones yet that support it. Even Qualcomm has yet to put their 5G into any SoC yet (late 2018 supposedly) let alone that there is no network infrastructure yet in place

From what I understand the 600 Mhz is just a uhf channel (which was used for TVs back in the days) and its only advantage is that it could be used in rural areas. 5G is completely a different animal.

How to check if Mate 9 Pro really supports LTE ?

ebay LON-L29C636B156, t-mobile USA. (upgrade to B156 yesterday, did not change anything in respect to this issue).
I can get the 4G on the home screen, but never the 4G LTE symbol. And i do not get the VoLTE menu option. I called up t-mobile support and they said that whether or not its a phone bought from them or not, LTE would get enabled if the phone supports it. So i am starting to suspect that my phone (or rather the 636 taiwanese firmware ?) does not really support/enable LTE.
My t-mobile SIM does give me 4G LTE symbol in a colleagues Honor 8 from Best Buy, T-mobile USA does not sell that. Which seems to support what t-mobile support told me. His ATT SIM does also not give me 4G LTE indication on my phone.
Given how the specs of the HW all claim LTE support for the mate 9 pro, i wonder what my best diagnostics are to determine whether or not the firmware actually enables it.
Reboot phone without any SIM inserted: "LTE cell info" app: "3G mobile technologies": Yes, "4G mobile technologies: No", "Max speeds": HSPA - aka: seems to indicate that phone does not support LTE. Same with SIM inserted, no change whether i enable/disable 4G in the system.
"AntennaPict" app, with SIM inserted, 4G enabled says LTE: -106 dbm, with 4G disabled, it says HSPA+.
*sigh*. So the diagnostics apps are inconsistent.
Was wondering what others with Mate 9 pro see.
Not sure what else i could try. Go to european firmware via Funky and see if thats any better ? (whats the number for european firmware ?).
Thanks!
Its part of the upcoming software update. Same was enabled in the mate 9.
It absolutely supports LTE. 4G is synonymous with LTE outside of the US. It won't attach to LTE networks without a SIM inserted because of the way authentication onto those networks is performed. The second app is correct.
You can check network info in about phone.
Bumping here as I have the same issue as the OP.
Anyone figured how to get LTE and VoLTE enabled on LON-L29 on T-Mobile USA...
Also, how do we get OTA update while in the US as I believe my Mate 9 Pro is an Asian Model (LON-L29636) ?
Any help here guys/gals would be super helpful. I love the Mate 9 Pro, but without these 2 **important** features it is going to collect dust on my shelf.
Thanx

Problem is you have a C636 model, which is for Asia region, not for USA. Unfortunately there is no model available under US? This was the same issue I face here in Australia - there is no AU model sold here.
From what I have seen there are only these models for the Mate 9 Pro:
Mate 9 Pro, Europe Version (LON-L29C432)
Mate 9 Pro, Asia Version (LON-L29C636)
Mate 9 Pro, Middle East Version (LON-L29C185)
Mate 9 Pro, Non-Region-Branded (LON-L29C900)
Mate 9 Pro, China Version (LON-AL00C00)
And from what I have read on XDA - there is a "cust" partition, which contains the VOLTE configuration files, which are specific to that regions Telco providers, so not having any USA configuration - the VOLTE options do not work or display to enable them... This is a major flaw with how Huawei have configured the mobile device, from what I read on forums these files are under 1mb in size, so why they have not included all regional files on each device no matter the location is beyond me.... I am stuck without VOLTE option here in Australia due to this fact, and will most likely never get it since they are not selling the device here.
The C900 being "Non-Region-Branded", sounds like this may (or may not) be a winner to rebrand to.. i'm wondering if it contains configuration for all regions!
LTE here tho is called "4G" and I am connecting with 4G and 4G+, and get the data speeds of that, but not calling (it drops down to HSPA+ when I make a call).
I have read on here that Mate 9 owners have been able to backup the cust partition and then restore it using TWRP on other devices, or most people have re-branded to their correct region.. this not possible since there is no USA or AU region build for M9 Pro.

Which Custom Rom support dual VOLTE standby support?

I am using Oneplus 3, I have 2 Jio sim. but one sim have network coverage at a time. Same thing i do it in nokia 6.1 plus mobile. which mobile support dual volte. that is both sim have network coverage at a time. Whether the oneplus 3 support dual volte standby option or not? and whether this support can provide by software level?
If there is any rom having this dual volte standby support for oneplus 3 , Let me share that rom link.

Sorry to say but the Dual VoLTE is a feature that needs to be supported by the SoC. It's not something that you can get via just Software. The newer Snapdragon chips support Dual VoLTE but the 820/821 do not. Even the 835 do not support it, while the 845 & some other newer SoC's do.
So, in layman terms, OP3/33T do not support Dual VoLTE & never will.

Since we are already off-topic here, I am curious to know, why do you think OnePlus 3 will have that support too if 6.1 has that? 820 and 635 are two completely different SoCs so I don't understand how would you relate one to the other?
S*rew dual VoLTE, this phone called OnePlus 3 doesn't support even dual 4G. One sim connects to 4G, another one to 3/2G. So this is an impossible claim.

Actually our phone/SoC doesn't even support active-active, only active-passive mode as the modem doesn't have multiple lines/channels. That's why you can't surf when you get a phone call over 3G when phone is in 4G-mode, as it can't downgrade data-stream down to 3G while phone call is active.

Oneplus 3 have dual 4G stand-by and not dual-active mode. That means both slots can support 4G when you make it the primary data sim. Dual-Active phones can have two 4G networks active at the same time. Nokia 6.1 plus probably have dual-active support due to being newer chipset. And yes it cannnot be added via software update.

[Q] OnePlus 7 Pro - Does it have 5G

I'm very confused about this point. I'm guessing the answer is NO because I'm sure it would be displayed pretty prominently on the official OnePlus website if it was 5G compatible. I thought that the OnePlus 7 Pro was going to have 5G included and the OnePlus 7 wasn't going to have the 5G?
Can someone please clarify this
No, it doesn't have 5G support, there will be another version of the 7 Pro released later this year (possibly only in selected markets) that will have a 5G modem.

FWIW, judging by the LTE roll-out, by the time 5G hits NYC, 1+8 or 1+9 might be out already...

No clue and I don't really care. As duncanbyy said: If you buy a 5G phone now, you'll probably want to buy a new phone again before 5G actually becomes viable. Instead, it's probably going to have worse battery life because the 5G modem couldn't be integrated in the Snapdragon 855 SoC but is an extra chip...
The 5G variant should be released around the time that the 7T would have been released, but there won't be a 7T. T-Mobile's 5G launch should be some time this fall. For anyone wanting a OnePlus 5G device, the 7 and 7 Pro are not it.

Because no providers offer 5G for at least a year no matter what they claim. At&t lies. They don't deliver 5G and neither does VZW. The other two don't claim to even be working on it right now.

The 5G the OnePlus 7 Pro supports is for Europe and Asia only. Not North America!
I believe this identifies the phone as either the unlocked or carrier version.

It's a firmware difference. Nothing more. The hardware is the same outside of the T-Mobile version having the second SIM tray filled in, but flashing it will enable the second SIM slot.
That is not true

There is no 5G phone specifically for any region. It will work with 5G (OnePlus 7 Pro variant) . And real 5G is not coming to TMO for years from what rumor has it. It will need to be a firmware update more than likely as the antenna in the phone are all the same! I asked the rep and he told me that it was ready for 5G. You do not wanna believe a guy that works for the company and said he goes to pop up events in cities like LA and NYC then dont. Buy something else. The rumors that they would make two different phones were incorrect. There is no such model as OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. That is because all the 7 Pros are 5G capable. So do not want to trust me, fine. Buy a crap Samsung 10+ that supposedly is 5G ready. I would bet that the antenna in it is no different than OP7Pro.
The teardowns have been definitive. There are no 5G mmwave antennas or Snapdragon X50 inside.
Is there undisclosed 3.5 GHz 5G capability? Maybe. The firmware has hints of it. But again, no identifiable hardware to use it.

Correct, OnePlus confirmed the 5G version have slightly different insides to fit the 5G modem. So standard Pro wont work with 5G.
5G is a No go with the current Pro...

Is the OP7 pro 5g worth it?

Hi everyone,
From my understanding, the 5G version (EE) is more expensive and has 5G, but: a) does not support dual sim, and b) receives updates much slower than both OP7Pro (4G) and OP7 (the 5G version seems to lack the camera improvements in the 4G versiom)
It seems the other 5G versions don't support dual sim as well (because of the 5G modem) but given the poor firmware update support, is it worth it to get the 5G version (esp if it will be your phone for next two years) or to just wait for 7T pro 5G (hopefully with dual sim) or for other phone manufacturers to release 5G phones with dual sim?
Thank you

No.
Not worth the money. Current 5G phones use 4G to establish network connectivity and only upload at 4G speeds.
Waste of money to get a 5G phone before 2021.
yeah waste of time. My mate has a 5g one plus 7 and hes still back on .4
Still too early for 5G...
Coming from a 5G owner, it's definitely not worth it because development is non-existent...

[Question] Unlocking additional LTE bands on K30 Pro Chinese version

I'm wondering if we can unlock additional LTE bands in k30 Pro chinese variant for people who bought the Zoom version. I read it can be done on old devices and bands are not removed by hardware, only locked. Here you can read some examples:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-note-pro/how-to-unlock-lte-frequency-bands-mi-t3215880
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/guide-how-to-unlock-additional-lte-bands-on-chinese-us-variants-of-oneplus-3.479445/
I hope an expert can throw some light about this and if it can be done on modern devices.
Not having band 20 on vodafone or virgin makes no difference in the U.K. This was an issue years ago as Europe only used band 20, Europe also use band 1,3 and 7 so really isn't a problem anymore. Please search what bands your country uses, it will more than likely use 20 still but the others will also be available. I'm using the zoom model.

Well, if you're living in Germany band 20 is essential. Otherwise you won't have signal on the countryside.
So I'm also quite curious about unlocking different lte bands especially on the k30 pro zoom edition.

the above link was posted 5 years ago, I'm not an expert but I tried every means possible on the OnePlus 3t, I was also told by people that knew more about it than me that it couldn't be done.
I tried on my old galaxy S4 never been successful
Looks like it's impossible on our phones - QPST sees the phone, but can't do anything with modem memory. Maybe because it's encrypted.
I don't really need band 20, but LTE-A band 7+7 or 7+3 is very needed. In Chinese 2020 models Xiaomi cuts off CA 7+7 support for some reason. My Redmi K20 holds LTE-A CA 7+7 easily.
