Samsung Galaxy j7 2015 charging port fail - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

I recently have this failure in my Samsung galaxy j7 2015 mobile wherein it cannot be charged by usb chord and because its very expensive to have it repaired and change, I bought a universal charger and a new battery. But then, at night, when I started playing games in my phone, it suddenly tripped off and cannot be opened. I just thought it was overheated but then after cooling it down for a vouple of minutes, i opened it and it goes to recovery opening wherein it states that recovery failure(or something like that) i started experimenting like going to recovery by adb or recovery by phone/ sd card but unfortunately none of them works. And lastly i tried restore factory settings and when then I have opened my phone again. But this time, I discovered something. I can now charge again my phone using the chord. So then I presumed that it is not the charging port which is defective but the syatem itself. If I had just reformat it from the start,I would not have bought a battery or a univ. Charger. Thats it. Hope it can help you if you encounter samw problem.
By the way, in our country they charge changing the charging port of atleast $30 usd. Its expensive for me.

N8013 Charging stuck at 0% - motherboard problem?

I've had this 8013 for a while and have hardly used it. Softbricked my Nexus 7 (bootloop, cant get to fastboot mode, but thats another story), so started up my 8013.
Somehow the screen on the 8013 stayed on and discharged the battery.
After connecting the charger (Samsung OEM charger and OEM cable) the status was: 0% Charging.
Have read (most) of the charging related posts on XDA and have not been able to revive my tablet.
I requested the Samsung Service Center to replace the battery, but they claim this is a motherboard problem.
I factory reset it - didn't help.
I used a rooting app and wiped the battery stats but that didn't help either.
So, is there any hope of fixing the 8013 (its out of warranty as I bought it from the US (refurbished) and the local Service Center will have nothing to do with it).
Solved / Workaround
I noticed the charger was getting warm, but cooled down after a while.
I left the charger connected for a day.
My guess was that the OS was seeing the battery charge at 0% and shutting the system down.
I fixed this by using
[MOD][XPOSED][2.3+] DisableCriticalBatteryShutdown - v1.0 [ABANDONED]
to disable the shutdown feature. With this installed the tablet has worked for more than 30 minutes now. Hopefully I can recalibrate the battery, if not, I'll just have to use it as long as I think it would be safe without killing it.

Can Android OS cause charging malfunctions?

Hi,
My phone suddenly won't charge the battery any longer unless I plug the cable into a Laptop/PC (USB). I bought a new battery, I tried 3 wall chargers, 3 cables and different mains sockets (all tested on different devices and all working).
I wonder if this problem could, in theory, be caused by the Android OS and not by the hardware. Does Android OS regulate the charging (not discharging or use) of the battery? Or is charging only a hardware function?
If the OS were to be involved, what would be the quickest way to fix such an issue?
FYI:
------------------------
Samsung SM-N9005 Note 3
4.4.2
Kernel 3.4.0-340325
Root on stock XXUENA2 ROM
------------------------
When I use wall chargers, while the device is OFF, the phone starts vibrating every 3 seconds until I disconnect the unit (but won't charge).
When I use wall chargers, while the device is ON, the charging red light and he symbol inside the battery icon appear (but won't charge) and will stay on even if I disconnect the unit.

i doubt its a software issue, if you want you could factory reset (remove all your files off your computer, there is a file transfer app in the play store if you cant get usb storage. or if you want you could odin factory reset, pretty much re installs the Stock OS otherwise i would try to get a new one.

I already did FR from device but nothing changed.
I can't do FR from Odin because the PC won't see the device ("USB device is not recognized") and I already deleted and reinstalled all the drivers twice plus, the third time, I installed Kies - nothing! Still can't connect.

Yep... BUT... Samsung won't recognize any warranty as the unit was purchsed online from HK www.imobilephonex.com (beware!)... so, any other idea before I go ahead and get a new one?
--------------------------------------
but... on a happy note, I just discovered that here, in Japan, American Express offers me 3 AMAZING FREE warranties:
1. Warranty plus (extends the original warranty by an extra 2 years regardless of original period);
2. Homeware protection (accidental damage, loss, theft, fire, flood, etc - up to 100% refund or replacement within 6 months, 90% within 1 year, 80% within second year, 70% 3rd year and so on);
3. Shopping protection (total replacement - no questions asked - within 90 days: damage, loss, theft, pretty much anything)!
WOOOOOOOOOOW! So it's my choice if I chose to have it repaired, replaced or refunded. Japan is an honest and amazing country... this would never work in Italy where I'm from!
Only 2 conditions/limitation: not valid for mobile phones (Note 3 considered "tablet" so ok) and I must show damaged unit (unless theft or loss in which case I must prove purchase).

Samsung Galaxy S6 is telling me it is overheating, it is cold. How Backup?

Dear Androidpeople,
Since November, I am the glad owner of the Samsung Galaxy S6. I am a really Samsung fan, I have had the S2, S3, S4 and now the S6. The previous two weeks I had some charging issues. In particular, sometimes I had to plug in the cable three times before it really 'connected' and started charging. I tried it after that with another Samsung cable and this problem was solved. The day before yesterday I was planning to charge my phone and when I attached the cable to the phone it only started to charge after the phone was already 10 minutes connected.
Till this issues I didn't see that much problems. Every morning my phone was with al my problems, fully charged. Since yesterday, the big problem started. My phone was complete dead/0% battery. I wanted to charge my phone and I got this error: (I got the error in Dutch and tried to translate it, as best as I could)
Cannot charge phone
"The device is stopped charging. De battery temperature is too high. Be careful with disconnecting your charger. It could be very hot."
"When you disconnect the charger and reconnect is afterwards, you could possibly proceed charging your phone. If this overheating issue keeps existing, please contact our customer service because of risk of fire and injuries."

I have never had a problem of this kind. My phone and charger were both fully cold. I spoke with a guy at Vodafone and he told me this should be a case of warranty of Samsung/Vodafone. The problem now is, back-up.
The device is 0% charged, I could not charge it anymore and when I turned my phone on, it directly turned off. Now did I try to charge it yesterday and last night with multiple chargers. This morning it suddenly was 13% charged. So i quickly ran to my laptop to connect my device with it and start back-upping photos. But after connecting it tries to charge and I get the same error as i mentioned above. If I just look on the device itself every app is blocked for 'safety reasons' except 'Phone' and 'Contacts'. I cannot look into the Gallery, Dropbox or Onedrive. The device connecting with the laptop was not helpful. The laptop does not recognize any phone connected to it. So copying files from the laptop and the phone are not working. It looks the end of the possible solutions but maybe I forgot something.
Things tried tot fix it:
- Three different chargers
- Two different laptops
- Two different data cables
- Connecting via power, via laptop via the power bank.
- Cleared Dalvik Cache.
When I let him pick up by Vodafone they will try to fix the issue, but I will lose every photo from it. I know I should make a backup earlier. But that is talking now. Is there maybe one solution, one clever thing, one special tweak I could do to save my photo? Or should I start my grieving process?

phone won't charge !! (only with samsung s7 charger when he is turned off) crazy !!!

so... I encountered this crazy problem that I never seen in any other phone and I had a lot
I've got this one plus 1 (stock operating system, unrooted and locked) and he wont charge at all (when he off or on), my charger and cable are original and they do charge other one plus one (I've got 2 of them).
he wont charge with other chargers and cables.... except Samsung s7 charger when the phone turned off.
I've tried resetting the phone and it didn't help, I cant unlock and flash because the computer don't recognize it (even in fastboot mode).
I even took it a part and tested the battery... it seems ok.
I've run out of ideas :silly::silly::silly:
so if any one of u encountered this problem or have an idea ill love 2 here it

Help with galaxy s7

I posted this on the tmobile site but can't seem to get an answer. I have no idea what to do.
So I've had my phone on for at least 7 days. A notification from Samsung's plus app told me to reboot it because blah blah it helps or something.
So I turned it off.
Now it wont turn back on. Tired holding power plus volume down. Tried booting into recovery. Don't have a Windows PC irght now to plug into and try things , but will install windows on a mac via bootcamp.
When I plug it into any charger. Nothing.
When I set it atop a wireless charger. The wireless charger detects it, meaning it lights up. But the phone itself doesn't give any LED notification.
Phone gets warm while on wireless charging pad also. So it may be charging.
What is going on? Any advice?
Plug it into a charger, hold the vol down and power button for like 30 seconds then the screen should turn on saying its charging, then just power it it on.
Nothing. It gets warm when charging. But nothing.
Am I pressing it wrong maybe?
Strange that usually worked for me when i couldn't turn on my phone normally, can you get into download mode? Vol up + home + power.
Well this sucks i can't turn my phone on now, the battery was depleting somewhat rapidly so i rebooted the phone, once it got to the unlock screen it froze. Now no matter what i try i can't get it to turn on.
Today it managed to start charging, but when I turn it on when it's charging the screen freezes into a garbled mess, without charging it manages to boot.

Same charging from PC?
Tried a different cable?
I have a Lumia 535 that messes up touch if I use my Sammy charger, same if I use my Raspberry Pi charger on my Windows tablet, the touch screen goes mental
Try a different charger / USB lead
I used various cables/chargers so that wasn't it. I went to a Samsung repair center and they suggested that... I have too many apps installed and that's causing the issue? Oooooook, granted this was just a rep and not someone doing the actual repairs.
Again my battery was low and I decided to reboot it and I can't start it again, very strange. If I get it working again it seems easy to duplicate if I goto Samsung again.
Called my credit card company and they have extended warranty on all purchases so i'm safe, the samsung store suggested to bring it in if happens again and they'll extend my warranty 3 months too.

Too many apps installed... how do these guys get the job in the first place, even as a rep?
It does sound hardware related, I'd probably use your 3 months ext warranty before it expires and the S7 finally commits suicide
Don't think knowledge is a requirement for these types of jobs, phone died again after a reboot and I can't start it anymore, going to the repair center after work.
It would seem not
Hopefully you get someone with at least some knowledge to help this time, likely you'll be needing a new motherboard / phone, unless it's something a bit less drastic like a dodge USB port
I thought it would be the usb port too but i tried using my wireless charger and the light on the charger was on meaning it was charging but it still wouldn't power up, i had it plugged in the whole day today and its completely dead.
Anyway it seems samsung warranty goes by build date + 1 year + 3 months leeway, unless you give them a receipt and then its just one year, so mine was built in feb 2016 so it has warranty till the end of may without a receipt.
Ah well, I suppose at least you get a new phone / board out of it, even thought it's a PITA RMAing your phone
Mine was manufactured 2016.08.16, just two weeks before I got it, so I guess that means November this year without a receipt, but pretty sure I still have the receipt anyway
They replaced the board and all is well now, first time any of my phones failed like this, and it had to be the pricey one.
They did it there and then for you? Was expecting a few days at least, nice job
Yea I've not had any failed phones to date either, hopefully not this one either
I dropped it off at 4 yesterday and it was ready by 7, i was a bit surprised by the speed too, seems they got all the parts in stock.
Can't complain about that service, makes you wonder if they have them in stock and can replace them in such a short time for a reason though... hope it's not a common fault
