Joying stock ROM - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I have a MTCD Jeep specific Joying HU. The touchscreen is starting to fail and I need to send it in for warranty. I currently am using Malaysk rom and need to go back to stock before I send it in. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the stock rom?

Have you checked the joying website? Appears they have update files in blogs and the forums.

Yeah-nah?

I found a page on their website that was for an upgrade. It also said on the page, " Note: Please do NOT upgrade ROM from Malaysk on forum.xda-developers.com or other brand. Because it is a serious issue, it will broken head unit and dead(WIFI doesn't work, head unit die). If you updated you do NOT update your lollipop anymore and will lost warranty. See this video https://youtu.be/pGCROGRV1Mo , it is NOT really android 5.1.1 lollipop verion."
So I am not sure if I should use it. I down loaded the zipfile and it contained 2 files, duplicate.img and dmcu.img. Duplicate.img is the same name as on the Malaysk's. I haven't seen the dmcu.img before.
Any thoughts?

[Completed] [Q] Who is responsible for OTA updates to Android

I'm a newbie, semi technical. My wie has a Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE. It automatically updated three times when I turned it on, and left her with Android kitkat. It updated without asking me. Now she has a phone with no access to her SD card. This is a problem. I read elsewhere there is no way to go back to an earlier edition of Android. I have read online that android 5.0 fixes this issue, but I'd like to confirm that before I try and update. I've also read those reviewers articles form Dec 2014 that breathlessly say that Android 5 is here, its here its finally here. Other articles say its not. I can't find anything from Android or Google or Samsung that says anything either way. So I'm totally confused.
I've tried to update the software on the phone but it says the software is up to date. I tried contacting t-mobile, but found nothing. Tmobile customer service said they had nothing to do with the upgrade. I cannot find a way to contact either google or android by email, and samsung did not answer my email. (I found no way to contact them by phone). I did download a zip file to my computer that supposedly has Android 5.0, but I don't know how to make the update. I have not found any instructions anywhere on the internet. Is it safe if I learn how to install it? Is there an official version of Android that will work on this phone? Where does it come from- Samsung, Android or Google?
Did those three updates come from Android, Samsung, Google or her carrier (T-mobile)? Can someone here a) explain to me who pushes android updates to a phone? and b) point me to where I can learn how to update her phone? Or c) tell me if (and) how I can go back to the original android version? (online forums are split on the issues: yes you can, no you can't; do it by a factory reset, no that cannot possibly work, etc etc.
The phone is still under warranty and I don't want to root it. (I don't know how anyway.) It already was unlocked when she bought it.
If anyone here can offer any help, I would appreciate it .
Thanks.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. If you have a gpe version of the $4 you should be able to flash the firmware using Odin. You can find the stock Rom at Samsung-updates.com or sammobile.com. For further information see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4. The gpe is the i9505

Unlocked G3 D850, no OTA update?

EDIT:
What files do I need from storagecow link in the OP to do a 100% proper flash? The .zip only contains boot.img and system.img but I've heard you need the modem file as well?
There's others on storagecow like patched20fboot.img? rpm.img? tz.img? Should I grab all the files and put them in a zip and then flash? Or should I flash them one by one in a certain order?
I GREATLY appreciate any help. Please note I'm only after official LG firmware, no cyanogenmod or anything.

Hiya. Brand new to XDA forums so I apologize if this has been mentioned before.
I'm gonna make this as quick as I can. I bought an unlocked LG G3 from ebay
Opened it up and turned it on, first thing I did was check for firmware updates because it was still on KitKat. Nothing for some reason. (if you know why please answer in your response)
I'm new to rooting/flashing firmware but I did my best at researching on how to flash it to Lollipop which I successfully did but I had a few small problems afterwards.
Google Chrome refused to update no matter what I tried, taking screenshots wouldn't work and I couldn't delete the firmware files on the internal storage. So I ended up reverting back to the stock KitKat room, unrooted with no TWRP.
This phone is gift to someone so I'd like it to be in perfect working order, but I would like it to run stock LG Lollipop as well as Marshmallow when it comes out soon.
First question is, is there a way to update the firmware with an official LG software or do I have to flash it? I've heard when you're 2 firmwares behind OTA no longer works.
If not, what files do I need from storagecow (I can't post the link cus I'm new) to do a proper flash? The .zip only contains boot.img and system.img but I've heard you need the modem file as well?
I GREATLY appreciate any help. Please note I'm only after official LG firmware, no cyanogenmod or anything.

You'll have to root, and use a custom stock rom. It'll only OTA update if you insert an active AT&T sim.

HTC One E8 - another MM update issue

Hello Everybody,
I have a HTC E8, from what I see it has CID_059 and in the hboot it shows "mec_dugl". According to the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/help/htc-one-e8-mid-cid-ruu-ota-twrp-t2903210 I have the Vietnamese SW version, even though I am from Romania (dunno how the hell they imported it here).
It came with Android LolIipop, I received a small update, made it and now I have Lollipop 5.0.2 installed. Received another update which of course is the interim one before pushing MM. Tried to update and I received the install error "Status 7" and something regarding the recovery.img
I've had some experience with Android ROMs but not very much, can someone please tell me if by flashing the recovery image from the OTA update will fix my current problem and if I will be able to flash Marshmallow? And if not is anyone kind enough to tell me the exact steps I must take in order to finally enjoy the latest update and the following OTA updates? Thanks in advance!
P.S. I know there are similar threads like these however my unit is brand new, brand stock, no rooting, no S-OFF no nothing....just a Vietname SW on a unit sold in Romania (EU) and I couldn't find a similar situation plus a clear explanation of the necessary steps.

Brick px5(solved) and installing Android 10 ROM(please help)

Hi, I installed the mcu files by mistake and now the device is bricked and does not come up. It only gets stuck on the boot image. What is the solution? (How should the recovery file be injected into it?

I have tried many times with the reset button and it does not enter the recovery mode
If you have an MCU MTCD/E:
Instructions for entering the recovery are in the video:
If you can't get into recovery, try PX5 stuck in bootloop:

The last option is to buy a processor board, the functionality of bluetooth and wifi is not guaranteed:

Is the device MTCD? Post MCU version.
Thank you all, friends of the device, it was fixed. But I just wanted to install the official Android 10 ROM via microsd, which unfortunately I still can't install. My mcu version is kld and I flashed the chs via sddisktool because the Android 10 version for kld has not been released. !!
Is there an installation solution via microsd?

Installing ROM and Changing Firmware

Good evening ladies and gents,
I got a phone today from Amazon Galaxy Note 10 Plus. SM-N975F/DS.
Got it activated on AT&T which took a bit of trickery but finally got it activated.
So now I am in the process of rooting it and noticed that there are many region specific firmware (you have to use Magisk to patch the firmware (the .md5)). For example mine is N975FXXU6FUCD-MID which was difficult to find and difficult to identify. I have located this (MID) region and its Iraq. As I type this that exact firmware is downloading from SMAMOBILE. I will be flashing a custom ROM within the next few hours. I was wondering tho, since there is no USA Firmware version, will the custom ROM change the firmware thus rendering this entire post irrelevant? Does the firmware matter if the phone is activated and functioning, or is there anything else anyone would suggest? For example should I flash a firmware from perhaps Mexico since its the same continent?
I ask because as I stated above, I am downloading the N975FXXU6FUCD-MID firmware now, and I have to use Magisk to patch the firmware so I just figured I would patch the exact same firmware that is on the phone currently but should i patch a different firmware instead?
Anyway, If anyone has any insight into this I'd love to hear it. Thank you!
