Unlocked G3 D850, no OTA update? - AT&T LG G3

EDIT:
What files do I need from storagecow link in the OP to do a 100% proper flash? The .zip only contains boot.img and system.img but I've heard you need the modem file as well?
There's others on storagecow like patched20fboot.img? rpm.img? tz.img? Should I grab all the files and put them in a zip and then flash? Or should I flash them one by one in a certain order?
I GREATLY appreciate any help. Please note I'm only after official LG firmware, no cyanogenmod or anything.

Hiya. Brand new to XDA forums so I apologize if this has been mentioned before.
I'm gonna make this as quick as I can. I bought an unlocked LG G3 from ebay
Opened it up and turned it on, first thing I did was check for firmware updates because it was still on KitKat. Nothing for some reason. (if you know why please answer in your response)
I'm new to rooting/flashing firmware but I did my best at researching on how to flash it to Lollipop which I successfully did but I had a few small problems afterwards.
Google Chrome refused to update no matter what I tried, taking screenshots wouldn't work and I couldn't delete the firmware files on the internal storage. So I ended up reverting back to the stock KitKat room, unrooted with no TWRP.
This phone is gift to someone so I'd like it to be in perfect working order, but I would like it to run stock LG Lollipop as well as Marshmallow when it comes out soon.
First question is, is there a way to update the firmware with an official LG software or do I have to flash it? I've heard when you're 2 firmwares behind OTA no longer works.
If not, what files do I need from storagecow (I can't post the link cus I'm new) to do a proper flash? The .zip only contains boot.img and system.img but I've heard you need the modem file as well?

You'll have to root, and use a custom stock rom. It'll only OTA update if you insert an active AT&T sim.

Tmobile pushed a 60mb update to my LG Stylo this morning? What to do?

Hello Folks
This morning I noticed, Tmobile pushed a 60mb update to my phone. I am rooted and unlocked but not on a custom rom.
Please advice what I need to do.
Thanks in advance

Is there any issuse with the update
I have not updated. As I mentioned I am rooted and unlocked. Not sure what to do hence posted my question in the forum.
I do not want to lock the bootloader. Just curious to see what others who might have got this update are doing about it.

1. You don't have to worry about lock bootloader
2. Which Software version are you running? v10e, v10i or v10j?
3. If you update there is a way to downgrade cuz we have previews KDZ's
I am running version 10i,
I am guessing tmobile wants to upgrade me to v10j. Is there a flash able version for 10j that I can use?
Thanks

Ok, you can go here and update to the latest version v10j using @GameTheory. V10j Full update/pre-rooted/untouch TWRP.

dummy you can't update that way you must remove all traces of root which the app can't do use the KDZ
If you are rooted and it says system update DO NOT INSTALL IT... it will brick your phone

Need some guidance

so i have a g flex 2 ls996 i am thinking of installing xposed and as we all know that for now there is no custom recovery for flex 2 but i just cant live without xposed. But i do not want to damage my phone either.
Hence i plan to create the backup plan first which is preparing a stock kdz tot first
this is the link i plan to depend on for backup http://romdienthoai.com/search?search-text=ls996
are these files the correct one?
which one should i install in case of bootloop etc?
I have an unlocked phone and i am using it in pakistan.
will installing these files lock my phone on sprint carrier or anything like that?
Personally I've never seen that site before but I know for a fact that almost all of us use or have used the ZV8 TOT file shared here:
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G+Flex+2/Sprint/
No issues with that one for me personally. There are no KDZ files available for the LS996 (the Sprint Flex 2) that I'm aware of, and I hope that sometime we might finally get one. The latest firmware is of course the just released ZVB a few days ago but that's just available as an OTA but the system img file is available now as well (it does contain a new radio.img file that should be flashed as well - I can't get an update.zip to flash properly so I had to do everything manually on my own: flash the ZV8 TOT, then flashed the rooted ZVB system img file (which is also available now), then flashed the radio.img file and I'm good to go without any issues.
I can't speak for anything related to your location (Pakistan) so read up on the details but that ZV8 TOT file I provided a link to should work just fine. If you need or want the ZVB (that's ZV-B and in Bravo which has the security patches and other fixes through May 1st) it's available in one of the other threads, and of course the rooted ZVB is available from yet another thread.
Stuff is all over the place, really, could stand some consolidation I suppose.
Flashing any of these should not affect your /carrier folder on the device - firmware upgrades really don't do anything to that folder so as long as it's there and your phone works, upgrading the firmware should not have any effect on your current cellular service but there are never any absolute guarantees.

Thank you very much for your response.

Need BKL-L09 C675 Indian firmware / system.img

Has anybody got luck in finding Indian stock firmware for View 10 ? I am on Lineage OS and since it lacks a lot of features and perfection, I want to return back to Indian Stock OS.
Please help !!!
On Google play there is an app called Huawei firmware finder
On that there's 2 updates... Don't see full ota files though.
Yes I know that. In no way we can find system.img in them. I wonder how come huawei is not updating the firmware finder with their database. Looks its just intentional and similar to their tantrum when you ask a bootloader unlock code.
Maybe someone has a Stock twrp backup with the system.img for you.
That's the only option for you at the moment
Just got a response from honor
They took my info including imei
They are checking why I haven't gotten any updates
The EU honor site is checking
I'll post any help for the c675 ver
Soon as I can.

Unzip it and then TWRP restore. Do not flash it
Bro, I assume this is the one I got last night. I restored in TWRP, but after that, there is no sim detected. Now I'm on stock with no sim detected and imei shows null. If I try to flash twrp or custom rom now through fastboot, it says command not allowed. Please help me with getting back a stock working device.
File not extracting. it may be corrupted
I got the link from other post. There someone mentioned it worked for them except modem drivers
Well never mind.. They referred me to the India office and said they can't support this model
Wowway. Sucks worst company out there
It seems I'm on the same boat as you were. Can you tell me how you really got back from lineage OS because I really can't figure out a way to do that. Please help me out of this custom skin, oreopie!

GUIDE: How to FLASH and RESTORE your STOCK firmware on the TA-1054 (and others)

It seems like there are a few people having trouble going back to stock and getting everything working.
As always, this requires an unlocked bootloader. If you don't have an unlocked bootloader then search google for a $5 service that does. It is what I did.
I flashed Project treble on my TA-1054. It worked great except it kept saying "insert SIM" when there was already a sim card inside, so I could not use it.
I tried to go back to stock but that firmware file on that google drive thread was corrupted, bad upload. Took me a few days to source this original firmware.
There is a tool called OST ( around 115MB), and a patch that comes with it (the smaller file less than 1MB)
The firmware is almost 2 GB
Download everything, including firmware.
1. Install the OST tool.
2. Replace the EXE file in the program files with the patch file you downloaded.
3. Delete the Onlineupdatetoolexe.config file. If you don't do this, the program will not start correctly.
4. Put phone into download mode ( either by powering it off, pluging into USB cable and immediately hold power and volume down. Or if you can boot into android with ADB debugging, just do a adb reboot bootloader.
5. Pick firmware file and click next.
THe first 2 times I tried this, It hanged at the last second. Third time was a charm. Give it time. Use a good USB cable.
I assume that this is the same way to flash other firmware files for other devices.
As soon as i get my hands on a android one firmware, I will flash it.
Or if anyone can guide me on how to extract the firmware on my TA-1045 USA version and flash it to my TA-1054 Chinese , let me know. Cheers.
Google drive folder with all the files I uploaded.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NbzO6lfSGacjM2wqrtBg3jMpljsZswne
Thanks bro...I am downloading it.
PL2-2380-0-00WW-B01.NBx.zip is global firmware name. firmware size is 4gb.
thanks! for extract is with nb0 tools FIH Mobile v3.4
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cSgjrZUxIsN7oLbo7AP-RnILDZdswmB-
its android one firmware. I have no tool for flash...plz try and let me know
Flashing now. Will report back after flashing is done. thanks!!
Edit: Looks like the version I have for OST does not read NBX files. Will try to update that and report back. I have ntool but no working username password
I cannot flash the NBX file. I changed it to nb0 but OST LA says cannot read firmware. Is there any other way to flash?
EDIT: I went ahead and purchased a bunch of credits for NTOOL.
I will flash and see if it works!
It fails with the mdtp.img partition (no such partition) . I would think that it would just skip that partition but it did not. I will later try to extract and flash separately
For some reason when I try to flash the golabl firmware using ntool, my bootloader gets locked after the mdtp flashing fails and I have to re-unlock my bootloader and flash the original 7.1 chinese firmware using the OLD version of OST. ( the new one kept saying firmware corrupt)
When I bought the credits for Ntool, I also got access to the downloads section so I will be uploading all the firmwares they have, ( there is like 5 different ones)
I was reading how the nokia &+ users are converting their chinese variants to global variants using the android P beta rom.
We also have a P beta rom so I will be trying to install that to see if it works or not.
As some of you may realize, I am determined to make this happen! The reason is because my USA android One version has only 3gb of ram but the chinese version comes with 4GB.

can u flash my chinese rom which is nbo format via ntool. I have have ntool but i dont have user name, password, i downloaded rom which u provide.my device still cant connect to mobile data.
NBX format only works on Ntool. but Ntool needs working user name and password to works. OST cant read or flash Nbx format.
if u get Ntool with working user id .. then plz flash my device also via remote mode like teamviewer.
Ntool Bricked my device. the only real restore you can do is by using ost with the stock chinese firmware. edit your apn. why is your data not working?
Global rom cant flash via ntool in Ta1054..showed error in partition. if it will be solved then china to global will be easy process..
I'm eagerly watching your progress. I'm in the same boat sitting on a TA-1054 wanting to get on Oreo without chinese firmware :x

Edit: By the way, are the custom and original chinese firmware files available anywhere?

Actually, the one in the mena topic was corrupted for me.
I have uploaded a good version in the first post of this thread. I've only had success flashing it wih OST.
But yesterday Ntool bricked my phone. No download mode, no screen, no usb recognition with windows. I am not really sure what to do now. If i can't get my pc to recognize it then the phone might be dead./ I may do a warranty exchange when i go visit china next month but if they check my bootloader, they will void my warranty. anyone know how to unbrick?
Also. The nokia 7+ forums said that if you flash the android P beta rom, then the chinese vaqriant becomes gloabl.
I went ahead and downloaded the android P beta for 6.1 but now that the phone is bricked I can't really test anything. I will sell my extra 1045 before i get curious and brick that too.

Can you share the link for P beta for 6.1?
Also, I own a TA-1054 model and I am in India. I ordered it from Amazon. It had Android One Oreo firmware preinstalled before I messed up and got loops. Later I flashed a GSI to at least boot it up.

There is an option to install google play store, but that would make your rom unable to receive updates.

SM-G930A 6.0.1 unlocked running on T-Mobile flash to SM-G930T 8.0?

Hey guys,
My dad has a SM-G930A 6.0.1 unlocked running on T-Mobile. It is starting to show it's age (battery drain, apps not running like they should, etc.) and is still stuck on 6.0.1.. From my understanding, it should be possible to flash to SM-G930T, however I am a bit lost as to where to begin the process to do so. I tired going straight to 8.0 by flashing the SM-G930T 8.0 firmware files but this didn't work (I didn't think it would work, but it was worth a try). With that said, would it be better for me to just stick to updating to SM-G930A 7.0 via the guides posted, or is there a way for me to Flash the SM-930T 8.0 firmware? Thanks in advance.

Wow you guys really get screwed over there in the US with cell phones. It's a pain in the a** to do anything with your phones.
Anyway I'm guessing the phone was originally AT&T right? And now it's unlocked to any carrier.
If you just want to update the phone to the latest firmware then just flash AT&T Oreo. It won't affect the SIM it will still work as before.
If you want to flash any other firmware including T Mobile then you'll need to unlock the bootloader on the device and that's a whole different ball game. With plenty of guides on how to online.
Make sure you back up all the things you want to keep before flashing

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the direction. You are right, US phones are a pain. And yes, the phone was originally an AT&T phone, but was unlocked.
As for unlocking the bootloader, I've found different sources that say that unlocking the bootloader on this particular phone is not possible with this particular phone. I did read something about an engineering bootloader being used to get around a locked bootloader for rooting. Could this be used for flashing as well?

That's not entirely true. Using Odin you can flash any USA firmware onto any other USA device, no bootloader unlocking required.
It's very common for people to flash G930U over their G930V/T/A/P devices to remove bloatware

It's unstable and only lets the device charge up to 80%, your best bet woulld just be a full flash with Odin
This guide is a bit dated but it's the best one out there. Just make sure you google the latest Odin and use all 4 firmware files when flashing https://updato.com/how-to/how-to-install-an-official-samsung-stock-firmware-using-odin

Thanks for the reply! I had tried flashing the 8.0 G930T variant last night with the latest version of Odin and the PrinceComsy version and got a Model Mismatch error. I read that the modified Odin3 v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD would let me flash the firmware and ignore the Model Mismatch error. However, I didn't go through with it because I was not sure if I would brick my phone and instead erred on the side of caution and made my post here. Would I be safe to flash the files from SM-G930T_1_20180625111401_xf3965l42p_fac onto my current device?
If your firmware files are from a trusted source like sammobile, updato or samfirmtool then it should be fine
Odin3 v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD seems to have positive feedback here on XDA so should be fine too https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572

Greetings-
I apologize for jumping in an already created thread, but I think I am in the same situation, and like to verify with you both before I use the advice please. I have a SM-G930T that I just purchased, and really like to run a custom rom. But I understand I can not because I have Android 8 on it. I know how to use Odin, and have the latest version plus you guys talked about it here. I have also already downloaded the stock rom from sammobile site. What are my options? Is there a rom I can flash the phone with using Odin that would provide better performance, less G..bage, and more battery life? Is there a way for me to root the phone? I really need an app that requires the phone to be rooted.
Thanks

Ok, so flash any unbranded Stock Rom for your device using this version of Odin which has been specifically modified to flash US devices. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572 PatcheD.zip is the file you want to download.
Then when you have checked the phone is working ok on undrnaded firmware you can go ahead and root the device using this method which is again for US Qualcomm devices. https://www.****************/2018/0...on-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-on-android-8-0-oreo/
Take you time and read instructions.

If I understand it correctly there is no unbranded firmware for the US, its all network specific but you can flash unbranded UK firmware and it will work fine, UK BTU is the one you want from sammobile.
Load into the modified version of Odin and flash.
This is what I found, and downloading.

Yes that's the right one but like the beanvee and i have said there is a specific way to flash this stock then root the device.
You also need Samsung USB drivers installed so your pc can talk to your device, there's plenty of guides around how to flash with Odin and what you need to do beforehand, the only difference with you is the version of Odin your using and then the method of rooting afterwards.

Thanks. I have used Odin before, and I already downloaded the patchD version of Odin from the link. Thank you so much. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out. I still do not have a verified version of a custom recovery for this. Do you guys know of any? I found this link but the link to the suggested twrp does not work. I think it is this one. But I can not be sure. The original link points to a slightly different url.

Nope do not use that TWRP, it will flash TWRP but not boot it and you'll be stuck on Samsung logo forever.
There is still no way to unlock a Qualcomm snapdragon bootloader and i'm not sure anyone is working on it anymore.
All it means is you need to flash custom Roms via Odin or possibly the inbuilt S7 recovery, you just need to check the ROM is in a format which can be flashed that way.
With regards to finding a TWRP solution you'll have to do some serious searching on google and read everything.
There are already several de-bloated stock Roms on the forum if thats what you want to do. Root and custom recovery TWRP are two different things though, you get rooted so your good to go?

Yes root is my main goal, and you are right the debloated roms will work just fine. I can do w/o twrp. Just double checking here; since I am flashing the UK rom, and I believe one of the comments on this thread was how US images are locked tighter, would not I be able to find a UK version of TWRP for my phone? Just checking.

Now pull up a chair and listen closely.....99% of the American devices (including yours) have an extremely uncooperative Qualcommm Snapdragon cpu at it's heart and thus refuses point blank to play ball. The online community have done a fantastic job creating the modifications you are now using. The rest of the world (i'm happy to say) enjoy the S7 with an extreamly cooperative Exynos cpu at it's heart. It just loves to be fiddled with, it's a whore of a chip, constantly on the go with all kinds of neat tricks.
Anyhoo... my point is, the software has to be compatible with the hardware you catch my drift? All the cool little programs are written with a specific piece of hardware in mind, unfortunately for you guys Qualcomm is the ice queen.

Thank you so much. You guys are amazingly patient, and informative. Thank you for educating me, and helping me achieve my goal.
I have tried a few times but can not flash the files. I have attached screenshots, and followed the instructions here. Do you see anything I should be doing differently?
I initially thought the code came as one tar file, which I could flash, but it was a zip file, which I had to unpack.
