Bought LS997. No audio problem& Could use some advice on issues/ Flashing - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

Just bought a used LS997. Deal was too good to pass up.
Interestingly there is no sprint logo or anything during boot So I'm not sure if this was already attempted flash gone bad?
Issues. There is no sound whatsoever from either headphone jack, speaker, and earpiece. Thoughts?
Do I have some damaged chip, or corrupted firmware?
I also tested the camera am able to take pictures but app freezes when attempting video.
I attempted to connect the bluetooth for audio test. But as soon as the headset connects. Phone starts becoming completely unresponsive, to eventually complete freeze and reboot. When testing (plugging in) 3 different headphones and attempting to turn on Hi-fi dac it says connect a headeset or a speaker.
I want to use the CDMA w straighttalk which uses verizon.. Says invalid sim when I pop in a verizon prepaid.
Any suggestions for best rooting method, best firmware to flash? I want to reflash a clean original firmware to see if it would fix the sound issues.
I just want the phone unlocked even if I am not able to use it with verizon.
Will this method work for sim unlock ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g5/how-to/guide-gsm-unlock-sprint-lg-g5-t3574819

Can I at the very least somehow reflash the stock ROM to see if it could fix the sound and freezing issues? If so how?

Theres no root medthod for it and no stock rom for it

Headphone adapter - no audio

Has anyone found that their headphone adapter has stopped working for some reason?
Was working fine, and now seems that the phone no longer recognizes the adapter. Power passes through just fine - however, can't get audio out.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions? I don't have a spare adapter to test.
Thanks,
Chip
I'm afraid that is the test. Either use your headset on a different phone, or a different headset on your phone.
You should be able to test a headset at your local phone retailler (just tell them you want to check it works before you buy it)
I'm having the same problem, just not at your stage yet.
I have audio but it's obvious there are some connections that aren't quite lining up since I get mono out of both speakers now instead of stereo and moving the connector at all gives me the typical "short out" garble you hear when you've disrupted a short in an audio cable.
The only time anything is plugged into my phone is when it's laying flat on a desk (I even make sure the wire comes out straight with NO pressure on it at all). I've never forced the cable, had it in my pocket where it could have put pressure on the connection, or anything else that might have caused the problem...
I think it's just wear. I can still charge the phone just fine, it's just audio that is screwed up now. I'm just waiting for the day when I don't hear anything...
...and I'll probably never buy HTC again... since this happened with my Star Trek too.

So I went to the AT&T store - a headset worked fine.
I went out and bought a new headphone adapter - same thing, doesn't get recognized by the Phone, so still SOL.
Question - any idea of this could be software related? I had installed skype (uninstalled to see if this was the cause) and wondering if that did something to the headset settings.
Any value in reimaging with a new ROM to see if this fixes it before calling AT&T warranty?
Thanks,
chip

If you have flashed cooked ROMs then you will have to flash back to stock for warranty reutrn anyway, so this could likely be your issue.
If you're on the stock ROM, then I would suspect hardware.

Thanks Bruce - about to call AT&T warranty to get relief (within 1 year).

[Q] Bluetooth Crackle/Static/White Noise on AT&T HTC One X

Is/has anyone experiencing/ed issues with their AT&T HTC One X's Bluetooth A2DP capability when streaming music and/or playing any types of audio?
Mine is a new phone, and it makes a continuous crackling / jitter noise when audio is being streamed to the car's BT stereo. I have also tried this on my computer's BT headset, and it does the same thing. It sounds like the white noise you get from an old TV when you do not get a signal, only the frequency of that noise is less frequent. Using my LG Optimus S right on the side, I do not get any disruptions in my audio stream, so it doesn't seem like it is an environmental interference problem.
Unfortunately I rooted and flashed my phone to Noctural Dirty ROM before I got a chance to try anything out on the stock ROM, so I am not quite sure if this behavior is limited to the ROM (software issue) or if there is actually something wrong with the phone (hardware issue) that I should go get a replacement.
Searching through the forums I am getting mixed feedbacks (some folks are saying that they are getting replacements, while some say that the issue comes and goes).
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!
Well, for the heck of it I flashed the stock RUU back and lo' and behold, the problem vanished. Crystal clear sound... How can this happen?
As soon as I root the device and flash to a custom ROM, this problem again resurfaces...
Perhaps I am doing this wrong?
From stock:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Flash recovery
3) Flash boot.img
4) Wipe system, cache, davlik-cache
5) Install rom
6) Reboot
7) Install streaming app + BT pairing
This seemed to happen on all the ROMs I have tried so far - ViperXL, Noctural, CleanROM, Calkulin...
Maybe I also need to flash the radio or something?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? I tried it on the latest CM10 and it's still having the same issues... The only thing that worked is stock... very disappointing
Sorry, it sounds like possibly hardware.
I'm on Cleanrom, and stream to my truck and use a old Jawbone for voice, both work well enough.

I guess no one knew anything about this or has this problem.
Anyhow, I exchanged my device for another one and it seemed to have resolved the issue.
What remains curious was, why did the original phone not have any problems on stock ROMs but problems on almost all other rooted ROMs? Perhaps the Bluetooth stack was different or there was some kind of settings difference between these? Ummm...
I have the same issue with my Rogers One X.
However, it does not go away if I revert to stock with the RUU, though it does become much less intense than with AOSP ROMs.
I spoke with HTC tech support on a couple occasions and after several diagnostic steps they concluded it was a hardware problem and issued an RMA. I made it perfectly clear with them that my device's bootloader had been previously unlocked, which did not seem to be a concern since this was hardware-related.
However, after sending my device to their authorized repair center here in Canada, it was returned to me untouched with the mention "Unlocked phone - Return without repair". At the time of sending it in, the bootloader had been relocked and the device was 100% stock.
I called HTC back again, asking why they'd issue an RMA number after I mentioned upfront that I had unlocked the bootloader if the device would just be sent back to me, and they said that there was nothing they could do. They disagreed with this policy but it was that of their service provider called FutureTel here in Canada...
In short: I don't think this issue can be fixed, it is probably a defective motherboard.
I guess I am lucky that AT&T doesn't have the same policy, at least as not as I know of... heh
HTC One X bluetooth problem
I have the same issue with my One X. Bluetooth audio sets static and garbled when the phone is in my left pocket. Tried resetting phone and a replacement, but same problem. I tried several different new headsets with same results. Definitely hardware problem. ATT device support center gave me an S3 replacement, but I dont care for the interface, so I may just live with it or send it in to HTC for repair. S3 is way better hardware, but the interface kills it for me.

[Q] Major Help Getting Back to Stock

Hey guys,
It's Sachin here. A new member or the forum. Currently I'm running Android 4.0.4 with CleanROM 5.1 Early yesterday I was doing some tests with my guitar and I wanted to see what would happen if I plugged in my aux cable into my phone. If it would record it or not. I tried doing the same thing but plugged in my phone to laptop and wanted to see if it would pick up sound as well. Well anyways, it was either that or something else that triggered an audio problem. Now I can only hear out of my right earphone. The weird thing is, when I reboot the phone it works perfectly for a 20-30 seconds. Afterwards, the left earphone buzzes out and I'm only able to hear the right one (I have tried multiple earphones and every single one does the same thing). Moving on, I called A.T.T. and the guy walked me through a restoration of the phone (Still on CleanROM, he didn't know obviously). He said I would have to bring it in to an A.T.T. center and that they would have to look at it or replace it for me (still in the 90 day fixing period). I'm scared they won't look at my phone knowing that I do have a custom rom on there. Plus it being rooted. If someone could help me PLEASE figure out how to get to this thing unrooted and back on stock, I would appreciate it soooooo much!
Running TWRP Recovery
Too Loooong Did Not Read Version:
-Left headphone starts buzzing, tried different headphones still didn't work
-Might be a software issue as it works temporary then doesn't
-Called A.T.T. and the gave me an adress where I could go get it fixed
-Have to flash back to stock so they don't refuse service but don't know how
Thanks for taking the time to read through this thread.

Need to lock your bootloader again in fastboot then use evita rom for your phone, you might need at&t one. This process will wipe your phone including photos/videos.
They will see if they are looking that it is relocked in fastboot.
Good luck

Microphone problems

For some reason the microphone on my Sensation is no longer working
The microphone is incredibly quiet (shouting sounds like a whisper), but there is obviously still some response. Occasionally I get a "popping" noise from the microphone.
I'm trying to work out what could have caused the issue. I'm using Albionman's CyanogenMod 10.1 Jellybean 4.2.2 Rom and no other users have reported a problem with it. The only thing I can think of that might have caused an issue is flashing a new radio and RCdata.img file. I've tried changing the radio and it's not made a difference, but I'm not sure if there's any way of getting rid of the RCdata? Could the radio even make a difference to the microphone?
Does anyone have any other ideas for fixes or ways to find out if this is a software or hardware isse? Any help people can offer would be great! :good:
Quick update and some extra info:
I've tried flashing different ROMs on there and it's made no difference. I get the same whisper level sound in calls, sound recorder and video.
Does the video use the two microphones separately to record sound? If so, if one was broken then I'd still expect the sound to be a lot louder than it is (though obviously not normal volume). The chances of both microphones breaking simultaneously seems kind of slim...
Replaced microphone... still not working
So today my replacement microphone turned up and I set to work replacing it. I plugged it in and powered up the phone to check it was working and I STILL have no microphone :crying:
This leads me to believe that it must be a software problem, so does anyone know what things can affect the microphone? I've tried different ROMs, different radios, taking the SD card out and seemingly everything else
Any ideas?????
Edit: sound is exactly the same with microphone unplugged completely
I flashed the stock RUU yesterday and the microphone came back
I then foolishly decided to try installing a custom ROM and the microphone stopped working. I thought I'd be able to flash the stock RUU again and fix the issue but this time flashing the stock RUU didn't work :crying: I'm wondering if I've got a bad sector on the ROM or something... :crying:
again install stock RUU then

OnePlus6 No Signals, Camera and Flash not working

I bought a Oneplus6 online with the screen and back glass broken. The Guy I bought it from had it kept in a drawer for four months before selling to me. Once I got the screen replaced, I couldn't charge the phone since the battery had died. After replacing the battery and factory resetting the phone. I found out that the camera and flash were not working. Also the phone showed both IMEI numbers and recognized the SIMS I put in correctly but when i try to dial it says turn off airplane mode. When I check the SIM status it says Radio off.
I tried flashing a few stock roms using this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/op6-collection-unbrick-tools-t3914109. And some how the phone started making and receiving calls. but once I got the OTA to the latest Oxygen OS it stopped again with same error.
If I try TWRP to flash Lineage ROM or even stock ROM my phone either crashes ( Lineage ) or goes into endless boot animation ( Stock ROM ). Its currently just "ipod".
Looking for help / suggestions on how to get all things working again.
P.S. I have tried new Camera's ( Front and Back) without any luck.

Thanks, I have tried almost all the msmdownloader ROMS available. No luck. I did get the signals working for a while after one flash but then it went away when I updated to the latest 9.0 OTA
The strange thing is that I got both the slots working for a short while only the camera and flash were not working. I did an OTA and lost both camera and mobile signals. It shows radio off and I get cannot access camera when I try to launch the camera app. Is there an even lower level tool then MSMdownloader which fixes the hardware drivers?
I have even tried the Hydrogen OS "enchilada_22_H.07_180513" ROM without luck. I think the problem is software/firmware related as I did get the phone working for a while.
Got the front camera and one of the two rear camera's working. Apparently the rear camera was faulty and replacing it with the new camera worked. The flash started working as well. But a new problem has surfaced. The bluetooth , although turns on and shows that its discoverable, doesn't find devices and my phone doesn't show up in other devices as well. Wondering if this is related to the lack of GSM signals( Radio off).
Ok, turns out its hardware issue. Lesson learnt, don't buy damaged phones!
Thanks for help @Chinaroad
Sorry for you, it can happen. The good thing is that replacement part are easily found and cheap on aliexpress like the camera module, for BT i don't think so cuz it's built in. **** happens, and again sorry for you
