Hi
Security patch level is 1 May 2017 so Dirtycow is still operable. I will root later as I am letting the phone update my apps.
@Stransky Thanks for the info, but as far as I know, dirtycow (CVE-2016-5195) was patched in the Dec 2016 security update, and does not work with anything newer.
CVE-2016-5195
Elevation of privilege vulnerability in kernel memory subsystem
An elevation of privilege vulnerability in the kernel memory subsystem could enable a local malicious application to execute arbitrary code within the context of the kernel. This issue is rated as Critical due to the possibility of a local permanent device compromise, which may require reflashing the operating system to repair the device.

Did you have to revert to stock/unrooted before using LG Bridge?
If anyone wants it, I will be posting the boot.img and system.img as soon as they are done extracting. Zero chance of losing root that way

I read the security patch is for Android 7.1.1. Nougat update the V10 update is 7.0, so hopefully It still works but im scared to try it just yet....but the security patch is may 2017.....I dunno
I posted a quick and dirty procedure to upgrade to Nougat and keep root here.

I'ts true! its 30b update :3
flashed the kdz . dont bother rolling back, it wont work mine got stuck when trying to roll back to mm.
fyi .. Nougat 7.0 removes the "Play over phone speakers" setting in Google Maps. For me thats close to a deal breaker as i want to stream music from my phone and have directions come from phone speaker.
thats not possible anymore with 7.0

Hey guys,
Anyone been able to get the H950 V11Z update? Any tips?
I called att 5 times, they either say it doesn't exist or fail to push it. LG sync says my software is up to date. i have forwarded my clock an entire year.
It does exist, that's how I provided Sj with the system.img so he could to root 11z for everyone. According to a rep I spoke with the updates are linked to IMEI blocks, but I'm weary of that statement's validity. I can only suggest that you keep trying and clear cache for Software Update + Update center.

is there root available for 11z? I'm on cricket and don't want to go through the hassle of updating via the go phone method unless the same root procedure that worked for 11x works for 11z.

Thanks. Also did you have to unroot h95011x to receive the z update, or can you just receive the update as normal & just loose root after it's done? I was wondering if unchecking "enable superuser" to temp disable root before the update & re-enabling it after the update would save root? Thanks

I didn't root until after using 11z. I think Sj would suggest installing the stock image of 11x before updating to 11z. Also there might be some sort of integrity check that SuperSU may interfere with.

If you were already rooted you could flash an oe rom plus firmware only. BUT, if you were on that OTA update you couldn't downgrade to root. At least that's the way I think it works. I'm rooted and on og5. I did read though that with either the 5.1 update or marshmallow update that it requires you to update the bootloader, which means og5 is high as we can go and stay rooted. Unless something has changed.

Agreed, except that you can maintain the OD5 bootloader throughout, and still upgrade ROM further. I think? You keep the OD5 bootloader and only upgrade the ROM?
So, currently we stuck in Super Lollipop 5.0 (og5 will be last one, if next one is 5.1) by verizon's locked bootloader..
Anyone can go further, it really good for all of us.
I will be staying with og5 with bod5 bootloader unless someone comes up with a exploit again to root anything after bod5

Out of curiosity, when you food that what version were you on?
I had downgraded to ncg, plugged my phone into the computer and ran kies. It said I had an update (of course), to android 5.1. I got pretty excited until I read the details. It said it was og5. So kies says og5 is 5.1. Maybe Verizon update manager says same thing.

You cant update if you're rooted, you yes you do
You need to flash stock Lollipop. I'm not positive, but the 5.1.1 tot file may be in tung's root thread
***Edit - See the OP thread, put a link to the stock tot thread
I just downloaded the stock firmware and used the same method that I used for root.

Yes it does - flawlessly and quickly, even with my Spigen case. The fingerprint scanner also works now with other supporting apps, like LastPass, thanks to the standard API.

The root method will not work because the tot file is for Android 5.1 not 6.0. I am currently unsure if you can return to root Android 5.1 from Android 6.0 with tungkick root tot. Has anyone tried this to see if you can downgrade and root?

Where did you get the stock firmware?
I usually check pretty regularly for updates by going to settings, and have done so since I got my Flex 2 (only a few moths ago.) For the longest time, it never found anything, saying I was up to date. But now I just got a notification saying an update is available.

Don't do it while it's rooted as it could cause bricking of device. First you need to unroot.

Not really noticing much of anything. Brand new phone as of last night. (Replacement for faulty prox sensor).
What is confirmed, that it's ZVB or something? 385MB is no small update so there's got to be a ton of changes, obviously we'll get more info as time passes but, whatever people can discuss is useful info.

the build number in that screen is LMY47S, the same of 955 15c (released in october 2015), how is possible that the "security patch" is updated to may'16?
and why the 955 software info does not show the "security patch level"?
As Always Hexed never seems ceases to amaze me 1 bit. Works just as good on the Z4 as any other Samsung I've used it on. To date I own about 35 plugins and seems like all of them work just fine.
