Hello fellow members,
Today am very upset with the issue I had with my Samsung Galaxy SL Gt-i9003.
I purchased this phone 4 months ago(my first android phone) with a happy heart. I got it for 17500 rupees, which I was saving for the past 6 months.
Today after getting up I switched on my phone and used it for a couple of minutes and kept it down. After sometime when I wanted to use it again, I found that the screen is blank and the touch buttons have lightened up. I pushed the power button for a few seconds and the phone restarted. But, it was not able to start properly and kept restarting again and again. I pulled out the battery and again started it and found that the phone cannot get past the SAMSUNG GALAXY SL logo. I then took out the battery again and started it in recovery mode. Nothing happend, only the android logo showed and no options. I rushed to the nearest service center and they also did the same thing like me, turned the phone into recovery mode. They said the motherboard is faulty and it will be changed.
I am very unhappy with the product as I started facing small issues when the phone was 1 week old. Like automatic switching off, battery overheat, frequent discharging. But after updating the version to Gingerbread, these issues were resolved.
I will never buy a Samsung product in future and if there is a need then I'll purchase the phone with a written consent from the company.
LOOK on the bright side! The company is replacing the motherboard free!! Its a electronic device dude, afterall! Anything can go wrong. Be kewl & feel delighted that ur issue is being sorted out by the concerned ppl! I've had some bad moments with Nokia & other Samsung devices & even iPhone

Thanks man
Thanks man .. looking forward to sell the phone ..
searching for a good offer ..
The customer representative said the phone will be okay till Saturday, so I have 5 days to decide.
Man i got my motherboard replaced three times till now. Problem started after 6 months and within next 2 months i am going to sell it for sure. Because after warranty i'm damn sure that phone is going to make a hole in my pocket
Sue the company
Bro, you can file a complaint against the company in consumer court.
I am not sure about the eligibility, but I know that if the company is fails to repair/replace the product then you can surely sue it.
You can also file a bigger claim than cost of the product.
Motherboard replaced
I had the same Problem few days back, my phone is 5 months Old, suddenly the phone started restarting itself, i took it to Service Center , they told only replacing the Mother Board can fix the Problem... is this common for this Model ????
mine is 4 months old: started today rebooting itself... what the hell!!! a 300 euros phone should last a bit more than 4 ****ing months... i've being using a mistubishi m342i since 2003 and it's still working perfectly (apart from some errors given by battery charger) and a ****ing 20 euros nokia since 2008 that works and looks as if it was new...
why should i buy samsung again?
tomorrow I'm gonna have it checked by service, if they'll replace the motherboard i'm gonna sell my i9003 (does someone want to buy it? it looks like new) and think about something more resistant (suggestions?).

Nokia 1100 .. just kidding.. wanna relieve tension building here i have my phone for 9 months but doesn't have the random reboot problem (the i9003 of course not my current sgs2 )

I think there are many issues with samsung, which are inherent with some specific phones.
Like the Galaxy Ace has the Sleep of Death problem. Just search youtube and you will find it.
I don't know what Samsung is doing. First sell phones with defects then keep changing the parts. Thats not the way of doing business.
give a review on samsung site

Guys, I think there are many users with the same motherboard problem in i9003. Lets just give a review on the samsung site and inform other buyers.
I have already give a good review on samsung.co.in
Samsung tries to trick
Yesterday I got a call from the customer service center to come and pick the phone today because they have received a new motherboard. Today noon they called and said they have installed the new motherboard and are unable to revive the phone. They say please come tomorrow because we have one more part to change. They think that it will work.
I said to replace the phone and if you don't replace you will regret your decision because if you succeed in reviving the phone, the phone will again give problem after 1 or 2 months and then I won't come to you. I will head straight to the consumer court and sue your ass.
As drajax said, Electronics devices does give such problems and i hope it will work once the motherboard get fixed. And dont forget, for few phones when the users got their motherboard replaced - they got 16GB internal memory from Samsung and i remember those days ppl were trying to brick their phone purposefully to get 16GB storage...

You are right .. but today I got a call from samsung and they say after changing the motherboard the phone's issue cannot be resolved. They say there is one more part they will change and then check.
I think they are just trying to save themselves from replacing the phone.
I have got my i9003 back from samsung care centre with changed motherboard and it works well

You have a great fortune then. Samsung is unable to resolve my issue by replacing the motherboard. They are executing experiments on my phone by changing the parts one by one.
They will have to replace the phone in end.
I don't understand why they use such sub-standard quality parts. I have not rooted my phone ever, and its screwed.

they will try every possible way not to replace the phone. they say silly reasons regarding it because if they couldnt repair the phone it will be a black mark to that particular service center. if they replace the phone it will be a huge giant black mark to them... so they will try not to replace the phone. similar problem happened to me also i called the customer support and complained about the service center and also mailed them regarding the complaint. within two weeks i got the phone replaced...

Hello,
I own the world wide edition of the HTC 8X and all of the sudden the microphone stopped working. It works if I am using the headphones but nothing goes through the build in mic. Broken?
Looks like this is random. I made one call which was fine then a second but nobody could hear me. I am sending my device back

Unit cannot be repaired
I called Virgin Mobile and they said my warranty lasts as long as the contract does which is 24 months so I didn't had to claim from my insurance. Following some investigation, people could hear me via the handsfree, speakerphone but not the built in microphone. In addition, the phone sort of died reception-wise; Bluetooth, NFC, 3G connectivity was crap as well. Anyway Virgin Mobile texted me just now saying we cannot repair it and we are sending you a brand new replacement phone. So yay. claim on your warranties while you still can. Looks like HTC shipped some defective units
Let me preface by saying I have read the 4 page thread & nothing there seems to help.
I bought a Pixel late last year as gift for my mother as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, after resetting the device, I found that the phone had microphone issues - working for about an hour after the phone had been booted, then cutting out, taking the loud speaker, vibration motor and auxilary jack with. Much more recently, I have noticed that the loud speaker will now work, but the phone will not pick up an auxiliary input anymore, nor will the microphone work at all or the vibration motor.
From what I've read on here, Google seems to have fixed this issue in all phones built from January 2017 onwards but I am unable to find anyone selling the latest revision of this board online - I'm currently contemplating taking this into a Carphone Warehouse store to send it off (as they are an official Google repair centre), but I don't want to pay over the odds for something I know only takes 10 minutes to do.
My question is: has anyone had similar issues & fixed them? Was the problem the charging port PCB, or was it something on the main motherboard?
Also, does anyone know of anywhere that has stock of post-Jan 2017 boards, or even have a working spare themselves that they are willing to sell? I'm wearing pretty thin with this at the moment & would love some advice.
Thanks!

I have the same issue and got fixed by replacing something on the motherboard. the engineer said is something from Qualcomm. I guess it is Qualcomm WCD9335.
The total cost is around $30
here in China.

guys sorry to hijack the thread, but anone here knows if the wifi chip is on that board and if so can it be fixed I also got a pixel that came with issues, when it wants to connect to the wifi it says: connecting , then saved, but never connects nor it gives a wifi hotspot so I think it's a hardware issue... please advice.

Have you disassembled the phone yet? One of the antenna cables could have come loose, they're pretty fiddly and pop out sometimes when the phone is dropped.
I'm pretty sure the antenna for both WiFi & cellular is on the daughter board as both the antenna cables connect from the daughter board to the motherboard so I would assume a loose connection would be the issue, but if neither side of the cable are loose, then it's probably going to be damage to the daughter board or a software issue - I'd attempt a software wipe first, just in case.
Thanks buddy

I bought a Pixel with a broken screen late last year & my intentions were to replace the screen and gift the phone to my mother as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, after replacing the screen and resetting the device, I found that the phone had microphone issues so I opened it up again, replaced the lower PCB with a spare I had lying around... same issue, only this time the microphone works if there's no pressure on the screen (eg. it's connected, but not stuck down?). Both these boards were built on the same day, within 2 minutes of each other (June 2016) so I can only assume that both boards have the common microphone issue of pre-2017 built OG Pixels.
After being unsuccessful thus far, I went online purchased another board (with a 12 month warranty), fitted this & low and behold it's got the same issue. The new board was built in May 2016 and seems to be a completely different revision as it looks quite different to both of the other boards in my possession (no antenna clips, different smd's, different spring design & minus 1 spring).

PM'd
Update: I contacted Google's authorised repairers.
Carphone Warehouse will fix the issue for the extortionate price of £169.99 (over half the price of a new one) & "SBE" have effectively said that they will not attempt repairs on devices that are outside of their warranty period, so basically, they won't fix Pixels at all (as they don't fix in-warranty devices).
Update #2:
After contacting Google again to say that their repairers wouldn't repair the device/repair it for a reasonable price, the support agent said the phone may still be in warranty & organised an RMA - the phone was returned to Google & replaced with a "refurbished" warranty version, which actually looks brand new! The even better news is that the phone isn't locked to EE, so a custom rom is being dumped on it as I type this!

This will definitely fix the microphone problem right?
Since this thread was started, a lot has happened in the Pixel world including a lawsuit over this very issue.
Can anyone else confirm that replacing the Audio Codec (Qualcomm WCD9335) will fix the microphone issue?

I tried to replace the audio codec with a local phone repair shop, it resulted in the phone not powering at all, the guy told me that under the audio codec there is some other lines on the board that were effected during the replacement, since then I'm trying to buy a motherboard to get my phone working again. No luck tho, I bought another pixel already and lost that one, so be careful.

Please may I also have his details - contemplating DIY repairs but for that price I'd rather ship to him
I have got a Pixel at relatively cheap price recently. Everything works perfectly except the there are problem at earpiece and earphone jack. I can't hear anything from the earpiece when using the build-in phone app or any other phone application. I originally think of hardware problem. But the strange thing is, if I play record message in whatsapp, I can hear the recording from the earpiece! I have tried some hardware testing app download from google play, some app crush when testing the earpiece while some could play sound with the earpiece. Another issue is there is no sound at the earphone jack. However, when I use the hardware testing, the earphone jack actually work! I have tried to contact google but since I am at a country without google playstore, they can offer no assistance. And they say they did not receive any similar report. Google just ask me to find some local workshop to fix it since I don't the warranty anyway. But if it is a problem with the motherboard, I don't think local workshop can fix without changing a new one. I have try some some of the custom Rom and kernel, but nothing works.
Does anyone have the same issue and got a solution to it?Or Maybe it is a hardware problem? I hear some people it is a manufacturing flaw on the motherboard.
Thanks.
I have the very same problem, again. My old Pixel got that bug and now my replacement as well. Makes me think, that it is Android Pie related.
Have you ever tried safe mode or done factory reset? I have encountered same issue, and got fixed by a local guy. please check my previous thread for more detailed info.

I have tried safe mode and done factory reset but still not working. Where did you find the guy and how he fix it?
I am currently using a Bluetooth headphone and it works alright.
The guy is in China.
After the earphone was fixed and last almost half a year, I got a new issue. I was traveling in Dubai, suddenly the phone became very hot and can not turn on screen. I had to long press the power key to turn it off.
After that, I never powered the phone on
Finally, I found another guy and got the phone fixed.
So, Damn google. I will never buy a pixel phone until it launches months later

I was having WiFi and mobile hotspot issues after the september update, After checking online in several forums i gave my phone in service center (hyderabad, IN) on 6th Oct and received it back on 28th Oct. As it was a motherboard replacement IMEI numbers got changed and one small issue i saw in my phone was "MyAsus" was not opening from support tab. Other than this it was working fine.
Few things i observed in my 4-5 days of usage after replacement of MB:
- Fingerprint sensor became more responsive, it used to take 1-2 tries but now open on 1st try most of the times.
- RAM management is pretty good now compared to before as it used to restart app after switch betwen apps.
- All the vibrations (incoming call, notifications and game haptic feedback is working fine)
- Both SIM slots and air triggers working fine.
- I also updated to the latest version and everything now seems to work fine.
Also i received a free Upgrade from ASUS. I had 8gb/128gb model but after the replacement i have 12gb/128GB variant enjoying free upgrade.

Great !
My phone froze and in 2-3 seconds screen went black and didn't respond later to find that it won't charge. It won't turn on even trying to force restart. It was rooted and bootloader unlocked. Had to give it to asus service center and they told it's a motherboard issue due to some circuit problem and needs to be replaced. Lucky me got my motherboard replaced under warranty for free .
As you mentioned I too have 12GB of RAM now (mine was 8/128 model) and fingerprint reader is way better than before. Also all those you mentioned. MyAsus in settings was not working for me too. But but after fiddling with twrp, scripts and apps which messed up my OS. I need to restore with RAW image and now that too works even after updating to lastest .188 rom
I got my phone back from the repair center not too long ago I was having difficulty charging it and started to get frustrated as a last resort I got a toothbrush looking thing cleaned out the phones USB port along with the charging brick USB port and both ends of the charging cord and it's been decent ever since but every once in awhile it takes me moving the cord a little bit but so far it's been charging hope this helps
My ROG5 drop on the floor letting child holding it... So without warranty, I decided to open and check notice the cable and pin connector is damages so I put another tape press it.. everything works fine after that..
wondering where I could buy the pin connector.. just able to find the flex cable in market.

After how many days did the rog 5s motherboard worked before it died? And are you sure the new rog 5 motherboard won't die?
