I have bricked my xperia - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

I have bricked my xperia xz dual (f8332) during ota upgrade and oem is locked. Now I can't flash ftf with flashtool it ends with .Sin file errors and when i use emma it show that device is locked when i use xperia companion to software repair it ends after a bit with "software repair error" Plz someone help me

are the drivers installed correctly? i can only figure your computer doesn't recognize your xz correctly because of missing/bad drivers but that's just a guess. maybe try reinstalling the drivers and if that doesn't work it might be better to include the flashtool logs to see which exact error it gives you

try plugging straight into the motherboard(from back panel).had the same error a while back

extracting the zip file, right-clicking "sa0115adb" (eventually with .inf at the end) and pressing install should do the trick. otherwise try to connect the device directly to the mainboard (assuming you use a desktop pc and not a notebook) as proposed by @josephnero by plugging the cord into a usb port on the backside of your computer. then try again using flashtool and, when aborting with errors, post the output here so we can hopefully figure out the cause of your problem

I tried every thing, when I connect my phone I am only asked to install drivers for Android and then instaling, installing, never ends. I tried to install Sony Update Service and Sony PC comapanion but no luck. I also tried to install SDK to get Google drivers and then manualy try to install "Android" when it is asked but no luck too :/ I tried all this on two computers, and same prooblem. :/ So any of you faced this problem. I am now stuck with unrooted phone :/. I am running XP and now I will try to reflash the windowses too

Try installing PDANet drivers for Android.
I heard those might help sometimes.
Also, have you got Sony PC Companion installed? It's practically a need to have it installed.

Some googling around told me that this program might fix your problem.
Try installing that, then try PDANet, etc again.
I sure hope it helps,

Umdf? Thats clearly not a part of android but its a part of wmp11 (thus asking for mtp). First, install universal adb driver from adbdriver.com. Then, run universal adb and plug the phone with debug on and make sure the driver install correctly. Then, unlockroot will able to identify your phone.

[Q] Xperia L Drivers?

Hello,
My Windows 7 PC is not able to detect the drivers for Xperia L. I have already installed the PC Companion and also installed the Flash Tool drivers, ADB Universal Drivers. Still it doesn't detect the device.
ADB Debugging is enabled.
Can you give a download link for the drivers?
Thanks.

Try a different approach. Go into your device manager on your PC. You can go into device manager by going into properties of MY COMPUTER or Control Panel\System and Security\System
When your device is connected, do you see an exclamation mark in devices. Reinstall it by finding drivers manaually.
IF this all fails, just delete the device and refresh it.
Another very useful trick is to delete the unknow device (xperia L) and restart your Xperia L. Then search for device changes. it will be detected automatically.
Is your MTP ticked in Xperia / Connection/ USB connection on your phone ?

Unfortunately, I have done all that. Isn't there a driver setup file for this phone? Can't seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks!
I'm facing the same problem.
I'm tryng to unlock the boot loader following the instructions on Sony website, but when it comes to use fastboot it just keep saying <waiting for device>.
And I have installed all the stuff you said, too.

Good Luck.

the whole of this was my phone was softbricked. I wanted to get into recovery so I could use ADB to try to fix it. When it's softbricked, ADB won't start up, therefore I could use ADB.
Trust me, I know how to use ADB, I just wanted to know if there was a key combination to get our phones into recovery mode with ADB because ADB wouldn't work because my phone was softbricked. It had nothing to do with me not knowing how to use ADB or how to set it up, it had to do with my phone would brick it self before ADB started, so therefore I couldn't send any ADB commands.

DRivers for Xperia L
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46681107#post46681107
Problem solved. It was tricky, though.
Having PC companion installed wincrap didn't make me choose other drivers.
So I disabled the signature verification for drivers -> rebooted -> connected Phone while pressing the vol UP -> opened device manager -> select s1boot fastboot (which had a warning icon) -> selected driver manually (the .inf file we replaced following the first steps.
then i just used cmd as in the guide.
et voilĂ , bootloader unlocked.
I hope this is helpful to those who faced my same problem.

Maybe you can install the latest Sony drivers over the net and plug the phone in again.... Kinda depends if USB debugging was turned of during the flash...
Do you have warranty?
If not... Are you familiar with ADB?

Use a Windows PC. I have that problem too my Xperia Z3 is not detected on Sony Bridge... I think is a bug for the app.
Use SEUS or PC Companion and flash the firmware, Or download any Firmware for your model for Z3 and use flashtool (your Phone is not bricked only have a bad flash with flashtool you can fix it).
The phone is DETECTED on OS X but Sony Bridge not see the phone only that not be scary with Flashtool you can fix it or using Windows and PC Companion.
PS: Sorry if my english is bad xD.
PS2: If your phone revive download Android File transfer is better than Sony Bridge for file managing
Thanks for your quick replies. Much appreciated. I am having problems with my windows laptop but will try pc companion when I get it sorted.
Just one question. What is flash tool. I am not familiar with it sorry.

my os is marshmallow, and i have try using different cable and it doesnt work (
please someone help me to fix this (
Maybe try the solutions mentioned here:
https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-unknown-usb-device-port-reset-failed-issue/
(the ones you didn't try already of course).
It seems to be a Windows 10 problem so try to check your device with another (preferably not Win 10) PC if you have access to one.

Sry to hear but if it is a driver problem, the only solution would be to manually install the right drive package (64bit in your case probably). If you aren't to, you'd have to unlock bootloader to flash a rom etc which means losing your data.
BUT if you just want to get data from your phone why don't you upload it to something like Dropbox or Google Drive. Or for a direct push try Pushbullet (App for Android and program for Windows, set up with same account) and you can just send those files.

Thanks before, can you give me link for driver Xperia z3 64bit? I cant unlock bootloader if my device isn't detected by computer not for data only, i need charge from laptop if in emergency situations
I did it like 3 years ago so don't know if those links are still working but I did it with those two guides (one is German though):
https://www.randombrick.de/sony-xperia-z3-fastboot-unter-windows-mit-den-richtigen-treibern/
For the manual installations of the driver:
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/129174/windows-10-fastboot-driver
Direct link to fastboot driver:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/fastboot-driver/
Hope this helps.
EDIT: You can also try with the driver installation with flash tool, but you have to disable the windows signature verification check (google, there's loads of tutorials).

Getting FlashTool to recognize phone in flashmode

I'm not sure this is the right spot for this but...
I am having trouble getting FlashTool to recognize my phone once I get it into flashmode right before the process of flashing. I Goofed and accidentally wiped everything, including system in TWRP. I had downloaded replacement stock system from XperiFirm and got it ready with FlashTool. I installed the flashtool drivers as well as the modified google USB driver that Sony gives you when unlocking the boot loader. I get the phone is flashmode by plugging the phone in while holding down the volume down key, and I get the constant green notifacation LED. But FlashTool does not move past the point of telling me to enter flashmode.
Essentially what i'm trying to do at this point is just get stock software back on my XZP. From what I can tell this is the only way possible that I have found. I do have TWRP up and working. If someone could help me get this figured out, or point me to another way to get the stock Sony software back on my phone I would appreciate it.
Have you tried recovering it using xperia recovery tool?

FlashTool doesn't support XZP.
You need to use NewFlasher but the dev has been banned so uh.
Heres an older version that works perfectly. I don't trust the newest version .
Go into fw folder, drop the content of the rar into the fw folder and then run NewFlasher.exe while in flashmode.
Should be like this, C:\Users\yourusername\.flashTool\firmwares\yourdownloadedfirmware

i flashed my HK to custom CE using older version of newflasher (as FP suggested earlier). only issue was getting the USB driver to load. i had to turn off driver signing enforcement to get it to install (there may be other workarounds but that's a quick way).
