No voice during calls when switching from Bluetooth - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys, like in my other post, I recently installed lineageos and then Aosp Extended .
In both, I am having an other issue. When I am in call using Bluetooth , like in my car, and I switch the audio to my phone speaker, like to get more privacy, I can still hear the other side, but the other side can't hear me. And if I switch back to Bluetooth, still the other side can't hear me.
Is this a known issue? I have searched but I haven't found anything. Maybe I am not sure what terms to search for exactly.
Thanks!

HELP!!!!! GF's Mini stuck in headset mode!!!

Well, I wouldn't be in as deep of a trouble if this were my phone... But I suggested the Mini to my GF.
Anyway, she was using headset earlier today and after she removed the headset, the phone is stuck in headset mode. Meaning no voice coming thru the phone's earpiece on both incoming and outgoing calls. She tried the headset again and voice is coming thru headset without problem, but once removed, it's still stuck. How do I get the phone out of headset mode please???? Anyone has similar problem before??? Please help!!!
Reply
hey hi ,
There are many ways of fixing this -
1)softreset
2)turn bluetooth off! if you are talking about bluetooth headset
3)where it says enable bluetooth headset on today screen - disable it
These might help you!
Regards
AMD
The socket has probably jammed internally, try insert pull out a few times making sure you pull sharply when removing, if this fails try inserting something slightly smaller and jiggling it about. I have also used a tiny squirt of WD40 which is like an easing oil for rusted or obstinate nuts/bolts/screws, also you can buy a spray called switchgear which is used for electronic components such as volume sliders/switches etc when they become sticky and operate intermittently. This is a well known problem on the xda 2.
Thanks guys, it's not BT and this is after many soft-reset I'll give WD-40 a shot. Thanks again!
I've got exactly the same problem here. My phone is bonded to a BT headset. Forgot to bring the headset and found that no sound, or extremely small volume, was coming out from the phone. Tried soft reset, deleting the bond etc. none of it works.
Would be interested in knowing what's the real underlying cause if anyone finds it out.
Hey Solitary, I'm in HK as well and I think it's a hardward rather than software issue. Coz. if I pull the headset, the normal clicking sounds can be heard from the phone, just not during voice calls, I think the earphone on the phone is somehow dead, looks to me like cold soldering
I'm calling O2 in the morning and demand an exchange, my GF only had this phone since 1/9 and besides this, on the unit we have, the voice quailty is also bad too
Hi, CL55,
You might want to read this:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?option=articles&task=viewarticle&artid=58&Itemid=3
It seems it is an old and common problem for smartphones.
I've also read in a Taiwan forum that they have got exactly the same problem in Taiwan for the Dopod818.
But I wonder if it is hardware related. My problem is that I'm stuck in a BT headset mode, and I'd never touched the hardware headset socket. So either I have a different problem than yours or else it seems it's more likely a software problem.
Anyway, do tell us if you manage to solve it.
Can you confirm if you can hear the clicking sound from the buildin speaker now? Only no voice from the earphone, or no clicking sound from the buildin speaker as well? I really suspect I have a different problem
Yes I can hear all other sounds from the speaker loud and clear, except for talking over the phone.
So it seems I've got a BT software (or my BT phone hardware) problem but you've got a Mini hardware problem.
I was listening to some music through my headphones on my jam and I got a call, so i pulled the headphones out of the jack. Once i did that no sound would come out of the speakers, not even after many soft resets. I could still hear sound when i put my headphones back in, but nothing when i took them out. Then i tried making a call and pulling the headphones out of the jack while in the call and that fixed it. It must put the hardware in some bad state if you pull headphones out when there's a call?
i had this problem to but i've fixed it! hard resets doesn't seem to work so i pulled the battery out for a night and my speaker was working again try it!

[Q] microphone broken ?

i opened my new transformer yesterday and loaded skype. tried voice chat and no-one could hear me. the sound recorder app shows slight movement if i tap the case where the microphone is, but bellowing into it shows no reaction. external headset mic works fine.
Is there some setting for input levels i hav'nt found yet? I would hate to be missing something obvious. Or should i just send it back
I think the built in microphone may be crap, I have fantastic results with voice recognition on my phone with a very small margin of error in recognition, on the transformer, the recognition is terrible.
I hope that it is a software issue where the settings can be changed to increase sensitivity.
If someone has a solution, please let us know.
update
the blue security tabs on the box were open, i thought my wife had opened it to check when delivered but she hadnt. I have sent it back to amazon and they are sending me a new one first class post, fair enough, it did seem a little second hand on close inspection. hopefully mic will work on the new one.
thanks
I had the same issue when I got mine, the mic was completely useless. After I rooted and installed Prime v1.4 everything works fine. Im assuming its an issue like the speaker imbalance where there is just an incorrect value somewhere in the code for mic gain or volume
Yeah, mine is crap too. I keep trying to do voice search to no avail.
I love this device, but man, it looks like they picked some really cheap parts for some items. Both my microphone and light sensor are not nearly sensitive enough to be usable, it's almost like they are just there to pad the spec sheet.
I find this so annoying, because previously I had a Nook color that I sold off because I wanted a true tablet, one with real Android support and such niceties as GPS, camera, microphone, light sensor, vibrating mechanism and notification LED that the Nook didn't have since it was designed as a e-book reader.
Now I find the Transformer has no LED (at least Nook had one on the cable), no vibration, light sensor and microphone that may as well not be there...
update
well i returned it saturday morning. new one arrived monday afternoon. great service amazon. anyway microphone works fine on this one so im happy everything else seems to be working ok so will see how i get on with it
when I record my voice in high quality I hear something like :
chchchichchch chchilly chchentenches and chcho bad chchound*
*(six silly sentences and a so bad sound)
I don't think it is a microphone problem, cause even with a half dollar microphone, sound can be better, no?
mic technology has not changed much in a while...its a commodity part that is bound to be afflicted by quality control and configuration...since there's an issue with the speakers it might also signal an issue with the Mic config

I think I agree.
If I put my mouth right next to the microphone, it will record my voice in an audible manner though not amazing quality. But it's not good enough for like voice searching or typing, not on my Transformer at least.

did you try to record your voice? the result is like under the water and the "s " sounds like "chchch ".
I tried a stereo bluetooth headphone with microphone integrated and the microphone isn't recognized. did somebody else notice the same.
the only satisfying way to chat or record with a correct sound is to use ordinary headphones with Microphone and it's not practical.

I did try to record my voice, that's how I arrived at that conclusion! Previously I had only tried to do voice inputs and failed, and just assumed my microphone was totally broken.
If I speak right into the microphone, then I can hear my voice okay... it's not distorted, just not amazingly clear. But this isn't really feasible, unlike a phone it's pretty hard to talk right into a tablet's microphone.
I haven't tried pairing Bluetooth headphones since mine broke before I bought the Transformer, but it should work for the microphone as well. You should check the Bluetooth settings page and make sure your Bluetooth headset is set to use both media and headset profiles, you need both to get audio playback and recording.

Ah, no clue then, sorry.
I was big on Bluetooth headphones but recently gave up on them as I found them too much hassle to use. Now I have a USB headset for the computer, it's great except that it won't work on Android.

on my laptop I use integrated microphone. works perfectly. on EEE pad I could use ordinary headset that works OK but imagine each time somebody wants to chat with you, finding your headphones , disentangle the wires and then answer. I confirm we live in the 18th century

We should all put some video on Youtube showing the microphone quality recording for example on 44'000 sample rate. This would make people think before buying that crap, and maybe ASUS will try to change that.
I'm really furious about Microphone quality. voice search is impossible and chat is really hard
I was using spashtop and tried teamspeak to test the mic. No one heard anything. When I used my bluetooth stereo headset and mic, it was fine. I have not tested further and am not sure if that was a spashtop thing or the mic completely failing, but since seeing this thread, I guess I should check it.
I swear the mic almost seems like it's been fixed in 8.4.4.11 update.
I just did a test using the built in voice recorder app, and speaking at a normal distance it recorded my voice pretty well!
Voice search still seems less than perfect compared to my Android phone, not sure why this is. But the mic itself is now recording sounds as well as one can expect of any mobile device.

Are you running on Stock ROM?
for me there is no difference of quality. try google search with a wired headset and you'll see how it is running fine.

[Q] How do I get Google Voice recognition to work with bluetooth media audio enabled?

Hi,
I've got an interesting problem and was hoping someone here knows the solution.
I'm running CleanRom 5.6 on my Galaxy S3 I use the built in Android swyping keyboard, and it in turn uses Google Voice recognition. I like it because it shows what it is typing as I say it, versus Swype's delayed typing of voice recognized text.
Here is the problem. If my Jawbone bluetooth headset is set to media audio, then the Google Voice red button never turns red, and I can't use it. If I a) turn Bluetooth off then it works, or B) if I turn off media audio to Bluetooth while leaving call audio enabled, then the voice recognition works.
But all of this is a pain in the ass, and I'd really like to be able to use the Google voice recognition with Bluetooth and media audio left on.
So far the only kluge fix I have found is to hit the volume up or down key on the phone, which for some reason, instantly activates the magic red button. This is better than what some people suggest, turning on the Touch Sounds (which makes an annoying noise every time you touch the screen.)
Has anyone figured out a workaround for this problem? Please don't tell me to turn media audio off, as I use it a lot to listen to podcasts. Maybe there's a hacked version of the android keyboard that I could use. Or perhaps it is something in CleanRom, although I doubt it.
Believe it or not, I do a lot of writing on my phone and would really like to fix this problem. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for starting this thread, hopefully someone figures it out and responds, but your question has already been helpful to me:victory: I only use voice typing when I am in the car, with the phone connected to the bluetooth radio for media only, so I didnt even realize it only occurred in that situation, plus I intend to try your volume trick as well.:fingers-crossed: Previously, I had to start-cancel-start-cancel-start until it would work. Not exactly hands-free.
I also run Clean Rom, specifically CleanRom 6.0 R2. I also had it on my previous version of CleanRom, so it might be worthwhile to try a different rom flavor entirely, and see if the problem is still there. If anyone has this problem that is not on CleanRom, speak up!

Yup, I have the same issue. Plantronics BT earpiece with Media and Voice. Cleanrom 5.6 R2.
Volume rocker switch trick works, but, that really isn't a good alternative for car operation.

It works after that, Dumb.

Troubles with bluetooth speaker

Hi
I have a bluetooth speaker wich I can not make it the sound arrive. My Mi4 is running LineageOs (7.1.2), it connects successfully to the speaker, but the sound does not play...
The icon of the bluetooth is different from the "normal" one and when I see the notifications space, appears the player (in this case Spotify) as it was casting to the player, but again, no sound. When I disconnect the bluetooth, the speaker makes a sound (blink), telling that it's disconnected.
I have read about this problem elsewere, so I think it's not just me who have it.
Any ideas or help would be very appreciated.
Kind regards.
Hi.
After some time, I found out that this is a common problem in custom roms based on aosp android. It's widelly commented in the lineage forums. No solution right now.
Just for all you to know.
Regards.

Question Joying Zlink (CarPlay) and an inability for anyone to hear me over voice calls

Hey all,
Anyone have a solution for callers not being able to hear you when the call is taken through CarPlay over Zlink on a Joying head unit? My head unit is: JY-VO133N4. When I unplug my phone I'm able to have phone calls work great over blue tooth, so this appears to just be a Zlink/CarPlay issue. I can hear the caller perfectly, they just can't hear me.
Edit, they actually can hear me, but I come through with very low volume and with static, I'm undiscernable on their end.
Possible that it's trying to use the mic on your phone and not on the HU. I've done tests and this is what mine does. Where is your phone when driving?

Have same problem. zlink use phone mic?
I have the same problem, try to rec an whatsapp audio and listen after, It sound same when you make the calls and I think and the sound is too looow and pooor. My bluetooth calls are great!!! what could be the problem?
Same problem here, which got worse after updating to IOS 14.8.
I can hear all people very clear, BUT they hear me very far and distant (so it is of no use).
It is NOT a hw mic issue, nor a headunit issue, because when I kill Zlink and use the audio unit's bluetooth, all works perfectly.
My bluetooth audio works fine, It is a pity that the calls do not work, it is the only thing need for work perfectly
I know this thread has some age to it, but I recently started having the same problem that while using CarPlay through zlink, any phones calls, no one could hear me, but mics worked when connected to android BT. Also worked connecting a Samsung phone through android auto. Only occurred using iPhone and CarPlay. Been going on for a few months and couldn’t for the life of me figure it out.
Even updated to iOS 15 and same problem.
Today I finally got it working!!
This is what I did. Hope it helps others.
Connect to the unit and let zlink connect and go into CarPlay.
From within CarPlay, open google maps.
Press the microphone button in the bottom corner of google maps. You should get a pop-up saying that you have to allow google access to the microphone.
Immediately look at your phone, you should have a request on the iPhone to allow google access to the microphone.
ALLOW IT!
Then press the microphone button again in google maps. It should now allow you to use voice for searching.
Now go place a phone call!
This solved the problem for me. Hope it helps others.
Thought I'd found a solution but there was no microphone button on CarPlays Google Maps
