The Problem:
"My device" encounters this problem while it's connected to "my home WiFi". Some apps fail to make internet connection, and this problem wasn't there before I upgraded from lollipop to marshmallow (officially). The strange thing is that other devices do not experience the same problem when they're connected to the same WiFi. Also, If I switch to another network, all apps work fine! So it only happens with one device relating to one network.
Things I tried:
I tried resetting the router (HUAWEI EchoLife 626 CPE), factory reset to my phone (Galaxy J5), reconfigure time and date, messing with dns... no luck ...
Other details:
Google Play Store and Google Drive are not connecting. Facebook hardly connects and Gmail doesn't send attachments, Messenger doesn't send photos and links! Youtube works great.
Please, if someone has any idea about that, I cant find help any elsewhere!

Judging by what you've posted, the device works fine on other networks, this suggests to me that the issue is in your network and not your device.
This forum isn't the kind of place to help you with network issues. This forum deals with the devices themselves.
Your problem does not seem to be the device.

But also as I mentioned that other devices do not face this problem when they're connected to the same wifi. That's why I thought it's related to my device.
Also, some network community directed me to here after reading my problem!
I know it's not appropriate to ask for help in PM and I don't do that.

Even though I tried to use some other VPN app before with no positive result. But now with Turbo VPN everything seems to run smoothly, at least for now!
Could anyone please explain what's happening?

Hello gyus, my problem when i tried to connect to wifi hotspots i couldn't get connected... i Dont know for sure if they had access to the internet but i could not even establish a connection.the same problem with the bluetooth it couldn't find any bluetoooth device on search) but i probably can't connect to open ones.... Any suggestions?
I have htc touch hd t8282 with wm6.5
thanks very much
Your thread lacks a title and your question is difficult to understand.
You complain about not being able to connect to hotspots but dont give any information about those hotspots.
Most likely they are password protected or have device restrictions through MAC addresses.
Some could have internet but require certain network settings.
You can't find any bluetooth devices? Maybe none are around or the ones that are around are not set to visible.
What do you mean by "can't connect to open ones" ?
im hungry
*EDIT*
best advice would be to search the forum of the ROM you flashed. If no one else is experiencing the problems you are then its probably just a bad flash and I would suggest a re-download and re-flash. Is this a problem since you flashed or just one that started to occur? I tend to agree with all points posted above. Good luck!
Hi All,
I am new to these forums and to android, but have searched this fault no end, and have still not been able to solve this fault. So am looking for some help and advice.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 sim free on uk 3 network and started to notice that a lot of links I was clicking from twitter etc were not loading, or I would just get a page not found message like the ones you get when there is a genuine incorrect link posted, an example of this was links from Forbes website.
I then noticed though, if I switch wifi off and it connects to cellular data the same links work first time?
The strange this is on wifi, all my apps etc update fine, and even if I open up samsung browser and go to lots of sites, they all work, it is just a few that dont.
One I definitely know that doesnt work is newsnow co uk whenever I am on wifi and try to connect it says page cannot be displayed, but works on 3g
Some sites I have read say it is linked to proxy settings?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Gims
Sounds like your wifi dns settings. Could be your device, router, or isp. If you can connect to those sites using a laptop or computer on the same wifi then it is the device settings. You might want to check out setDNS in the Play Store.

Yeah I can access using my wifes phone and laptops etc
I will look into DNS setting on S4
Thanks
Is setDNS for rooted phones? Mine is not rooted
I have the same issue. And I don't think is a problem with router or modem. Definitely a phones problem. It happens at home and at my work.
And it's temporary. If you disable wifi and turn it on again it works.

Hello all
I have been having this issue for I don't know how long. I thought to bring it up because I;m not sure if I'm the only one facing it or it's a google services issue and it should be fixed by google.
Here is the situation. I have a Samsung android tablet with an unlimited data plan. I WiFi tether it to my laptop and everything works fine. But,when I use the same tethered connection on my android phone (Tablet>>WIFI/tether>>Phone) google services refuse to connect. I can browse and use the internet just like any other wireless network. Just no google play or anything related to google.
This issue has been the same with all tethers that originate from an android device to another android device, it just happens that all the tethers originated from Samsung devices, so I'm not sure if Samsung is to blame.
Wondering if someone tried this and if it works just fine then can help me figure it out.
Thanks.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I can't find anything relating to your question on XDA, exactly what tablet are we talking about?
No response in two days, thread closed.
I have encountered a strange problem on a specific android device. It's an HTC M8 and it's the only device in my house with this issue. I'm hoping someone here could be kind enough to assist.
When connected to the WiFi, links in Twitter or Facebook (for example), no longer resolve to domain names. Clicking on the links almost always results in an ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED error. Some links work (say one in every ten), and the issue seems to be especially prevalent with shortened links, but not limited to them. When switching to mobile data, the issue disappears.
Other WiFi devices on the network open the exact same links just fine. There are no issues with any other android devices or PCs in the house. The router makes use of Google's DNS and this has never been a problem before. The problematic device is not rooted, nor has a custom ROM been installed.

Between my brother and myself we seem to have solved the issue. It appears that Lollipop on the HTC M8 has some trouble with resolving DNS. It might get fixed in Marshmallow, but for now we used an app called DNSSet to create a local VPN on the phone. This solves the issue.
Hi all,
I've been trying to get family link working as my daughter uses this tablet. When trying to add her account the setup gets stuck in an endless loop never competing. Having read various threads from other devices, I think it's probably something to do with play services not having certain permissions. I would consider unlocking, installing twrp, magisk etc if required to fix, but I don't want to loose widevine.
The long and short is I can't use her account on the device at all as she's part of the family group - her account won't work at all without family link.
I wondered if anyone here had either tried this, or come across other odd behaviours relating to play services?
I'm running the Chinese ROM ziu 13.
Appreciate any thoughts.
Cheers Matt
Few things I have tried (and eventually got it to work) across 2x Lenovo P11 Plus (J616F)'s:
1st one was a factory reset and then instead of using my home WiFi, setup the device using a 4G hotspot from my phone. (Not a clue why, but my Home Wifi (Unifi Access Points) takes upwards of 2 minutes to get internet with the Lenovo's, even though all other devices are fine).
Second method:
factory reset and setup the device as "Offline" (i.e. dont input any WiFi details, button down bottom right saying "Setup as Offline")
Once gone through initial steps, connect to your WiFi, give it 10 minutes to update a few bits.
Open Play Store (DO NOT SIGN IN!), and press the three dots at the top right and goto updates
Let the device update all apps
When complete, try adding the childs Google Account (again, if this fails, try using a 4G hotspot from another device (disabling Wifi on that device first))
Hope that helps
Ok, that sounds pretty strange but I might give it a go. I just set her up a new Google account as nothing I could do could get the old one logged in. Thanks for your advice.
I suspect your unifi is running a shared ssid and your 5ghz is on an inaccessible band, are you always connecting at 2.4ghz? I had to change the 5g band on mine to even see it!

Only have my 5Ghz on normal bands (i.e. non DFS), even tried a separate 2.4Ghz Guest network, disabled WPA3, all to no avail. Not got a clue what caused it, my ISP doesn't block anything either (Zen UK)
Any other device was fine over WiFi (have setup much older Samsung tablets, newer kids phones) all with Family Link, it was just the Lenovo's that was stuck in a loop saying I needed to remove and re-add the account.
Just couldn't figure it out, and had already spent a few hours trying. Hoped the newest firmware would fix, but that didn't help either.
Hope it helps and good luck
Just playing around on the tablet and it appears that it struggles with IPv6 - could be that my hotspot is IPv4 only. Could be related to the loop it gets stuck in?
Not sure why it doesn't like IPv6 though as all other devices are fine with it...
I've just gone through full reset, then tried using 4g hotspot as you suggested. I have to use Lenovo app centre to get play store, then use play store with no login to update. That all works fine. Then add my daughters account. Then I get stuck in the same loop of not being able to register the device with family link.
In my case, I don't think this relates to internet access, I think there's something going wrong with the software / permissions on the device. It's genuinely very frustrating as I imagine it's probably not terribly difficult for the Lenovo Devs to fix.
