Hi guys. I have a little bit problem with slow transfering to my new phone S7. Doesn't matter if that is (videos, music, pictures, documents etc. ) it is extremely slow. What I mean extremly ? For example, couple of videos with 1GB size takes 30 minutes. When I used my old xiaomi everything went fast without any problems. It doesn't matter whether I want to transfer it to my SD card or internal storage, still ****ty speed. Contrary if I want to transfer something from my phone to PC it is fast.
Im using USB 3.0 port on my notebook. I think the problem has to be somewhere in phone... maybe some kind of option that I haven't found yet. Who's know ?
Check your PC usb drivers and Samsung drivers are all current. No such thing as a turbo setting for usb transfer. Also, PC to phone transfer is slower than phone to pc transfer.

See if it's the same using a USB 2.0 port - Other than the Note 3 I'm not sure if Samsung supports USB 3.0?

Ok I've found a solution. My bad, never mind. Thanks for answer. I didn't read instruction when I pluged phone to the PC.
Would you share the solution, please?

Hey guys,
When I plug in a USB Hard drive into my TF101, the "Preparing" message flashes for about half a second then disappears and I seem to have no way of accessing the hard drive.
USB memory sticks work fine though, I've tried 2 different hard drives, one portable, one external with it plugged into the wall, when I tried the portable I plugged the secondary hard drive usb connection into my laptop just to make sure there was enough power.
The hard drives do spin up though, any thoughts?
I'm using the newest Revolver ROM
Many thanks.
Restart your TF.
Microsoft windows has been around for over 20 years. Android for tablets have been around for about 6 months. If you want a perfect system, go get an ipad.
I think your tampon needs changing.
But hey! thanks for the tip!
and thanks for the condescension, you must be so proud.
clap clap.
Other than this problem I'm loving my tab, loving Android as well, it's not a huge issue, guess I'll just have to change roms.
I'd never get an iProduct, they're glorified, trendy, expensive and not very functional when compared to Android.
i dont know but i dont think my western digitial harddrive works with my transformer ever. it never worked and i figured that the tablet didnt output enough voltage for it. just my thought, im probably wrong if anyone out there is more knowledgeable than me.
I have a wd 1tb USB hard drive and works flawlessly with my current rom

Some stock versions can't read ntfs. Reformat to fat32. Or get the ipad.
Ahhh, that may explain why I couldn't access the music, photos and videos on my media drive (a 500 GB HDD that I took out of a laptop that crashed).
I thought it was the size of the drive (>64 GB)
With the ntfs issue, I am currently baffled. Some people have sworn that they got non-rooted stock and could read ntfs just fine. And some people have sworn that they got non-rooted stock and they can't read ntfs but when they reformatted to fat32 they could read them.
I've asked this many times and can't get a unified answer whether the stock can raed ntfs or not. For now, just assume yours can't and so you will have to reformat to fat32 in order to use it with your TF.
I got myself a 16GB Class 10 sd card, and the direct transfer speeds are pretty good. I get up to 15MB/s. However, when I have it plugged in, it's a different story. I can't go higher than 1MB/s, sometimes it's as bad as just 500 kilobytes. Why is this? Does USB 2.0 suddenly suck?
I have had the same issue since flashing CM9. If I take the card out and put it directly in my laptop its back to normal speeds. Anyone know of a fix?

Ive noticed this a while back even on the Glacier. AOSP roms would have slower data transfer speeds compared to Sense roms. I have a ADATA 32GB c10 and average around 10-13MB in the card reader and on Sense roms, but average around 3-6MB on AOSP...sometimes as bad as 1MB as you said

I just left a Sense ROM and even Sense had the same bad transfer speeds. My Glacier is sitting in a corner doing nothing so I'll have to try that out. My Galaxy Tab 10.1 seems to transfer (with it's own cable) pretty quickly, so I think I might blame Android on this. Even worse, when the screen locks, the speed drops to a little over 300kb/s, or sometimes it just stalls
thats weird, Ive only experienced that problem with AOSP roms
I have this issue occasionally and it traces back to the USB host controller on the PC.
Fire up your device manager and see if you have any yellow warning triangles. Right click and disable, then re-enable. After doing this my transfer speeds via USB cable return back to normal

I also have 32gb micro SD card class 10 , the transfer speed via USB is not more than 1mb/sec which is too slow for class 10
I use stock ROM ...please tell me a solution
I have found a work around by either 1) put the SD card in a different card reader or 2) boot my phone into recovery and transfer what I want over. Maybe that could help, it does for me at least.

Why is it such a problem moving large files, such as roms, to the sd card from a pc thru usb. It will stop and say something about camera has stopped. I had to put my sd card in the wifes HTC tb to put the rom on the card and put it back in the SG3 to install a rom. Am I missing something?
Thanks, Mike
I have this issue too and hate it big time.
I have to move 200-300mb at a time now.
Moving more is like never gonna happen. Wish they'd fix this. Hate to have to buy a micro sd OTG USB adapter just to move files around.
Try different cables. I am constantly moving large files around with no issues. In fact it's faster than moving files from my hard drives on my cpu. 1gig from sd to cpu takes less than 30 seconds. Faster from external sd/running sd speed boost.
Sent from my VZW GS3 running Synergy/LeanKernel/Dark Horse Rises
Tried several, tried the one that came with the SG3, tried the one that came with the HTC TB, Tried a motorola. All with same result. Moving files off sd is no issue, just moving files onto sd from pc is problematic. Few songs at a time is no issue, but a ROM is not going to happen. Gets all the way done then states camera has stopped and will not go. I keep thinking I must have an option ticked incorrectly somewhere in the phone, but if it is, I can't find it.
Mike
Your in mtp mode, not camera mode correct? Loading onto sd is good for me, 800mb rom's load on I'm less than a min. Weird.
Sent from my VZW GS3 running Synergy/LeanKernel/Dark Horse Rises
Actuall no I was in (PTP) camera mode. I just saw move any files. That must be the issue. I saw the MPT and thought it was just for syncing audio and such. Will try when I get off work. Thats probably the problem I was looking for, Thanks.
Mike
I have the exact same problem (one I've never had with any other phone)
I was trying to copy blue-ray rips to my 64 gig sandisk card while the card was in the phone. I am using a brand new straight from the package cable that came with my second G3 (I have 2 phones). It starts to copy just fine, but quits 1/2 way thru & stops responding. every single time.
This is a brand new I7 PC that I just built a few weeks ago running Windows Seven Pro with 8 gigs of DDR3 RAM.
If I use a universal reader (even thru a USB HUB) the files copy just fine either from any of the three 2 terrabyte secondary hard drives or from the solid state boot drive to the card.

More than likely its as annoyingduck said, try mtp mode not ptp(camera). I think ptp is just optimized to do a 'camera' sync onto your computer. (for windows users, that annoying dialog box that pops up asking if you want to sync video, pictures, make a dvd, etc...)
I didn't realize I had the same problem as well. Awhile ago, I noticed that my data transfers would time out and I've only ever used camera mode. Thanks for the tip!

You could also give Airdroid a shot. It works over wifi so it's just a touch slower than the USB cable, but it's super solid and is wireless too!
No mention of manufacturer, class or capacity of sdcard?
Makes a huge difference.
Also make sure to be using an OEM usb cable from a major manufacturer. Knock off or cheapy dollar store cables just don't cut it for charging, let alone transfer...

I actually find it a shade faster than my pitiful USB 2.0 ports.
Takes about 5-10 minutes to xfer 700mb files on Airdroid. I think anyways, I'm guestimating from about 10 hours ago when I xferred a 700mb file. I wasn't on top of it but I'm pretty sure it finished closer to the 5 minute mark...
That fixed it, switched mode and tranfered a rom. First time it timed out, tried again and it went through fine. Was using the OEM cable with a 32 gb sd, not sure of class. I know its not a 10. Will take a look at Airdroid, thanks for that tip.
Thanks, Mike
I like using samba wireless. It's free but requires root.

I can take the card & stick it in my Rezounds & it loads fine, put it back in the G3 & nothing but problems so I gave up and use a card reader.
Is there any way at all to put my nexus 5 into usb mass storage mode so when i connect it to the pc, it will show up as a usb storage device instead of as a nexus 5? Any sort of software that can do this? i have rooted my nexus 5.
Thanks
nope, no way, no how, not gonna happen

This should be stated clearly in one of the general stickies threads.
No way to do it. Internal storage is not a physical but a virtual disk mounted with fuse kernel protocol, so can't be access as a low level mass storage thing.
It's by design to enable /data partition to dynamically adapt to user apps needs.
Ok now my question is how do you back up files, music, etc to your pc is you want to root?? I'm not into cloud storage...
No sd card, so now what...
you connect the phone to the pc and you copy them :silly:
it has no "usb mass storage" mode, but it connects to pc via MTP

Connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable. The Nexus 5 announces itself as an MTP device, you'll see it in Windows Explorer and you can copy files from/to it like you are used to.
In MTP mode, I can't see all folder..... Like "TitaniumBackup" backup folder........ Why?

for some reason, especially with titanium backup folder, MTP refuses to cooperate, sometimes copying blank folders, skipping files, etc.
MTP can suck a fat one. it has consistently caused problems for me for the past few years. most reliable method you can use is push/pull files via ADB or wireless ADB.
however, if you don't feel comfortable using ADB or don't know how, the easiest method i've been able to find is WiFi File Transfer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smarterdroid.wififiletransfer)

Nothing but errors, hung processes, and glacially slow transfers. Syncing my music library used to take 2 minutes on USB Mass Storage, on MTP it takes 5...10... 120....minutes, depending on how it feels - if it completes at all, half the time I get an error message and the process bombs out.
That's been the case on my Nexus 5, it's been the case on my SGS3, and on misc tablets.
But along with the elimination SD Cards, I guess this is just one more subtle way of discouraging you from owning and managing your own media - you're supposed to 'buy' (ie borrow) it from Play, and sync it.
Thanks for the WiFi thing tip. Hopefully that works, otherwise maybe I'll have to start syncing to a Dropbox folder or some such..
Btsync is a great alternative to dropbox or airdroid

Yes this really sucks. I managed to get USB connected and "most" files show up. What's strange is I use My Back-UP Pro, and an old back up in the "Reware" folder shows up on my PC, but one I made this AM does not show up. Rebooted PC, reconnected, and same "older" folders show up, but not the newer one. The folder "Fonts" looks normal on the N5, shows up as an undefined file on the PC.
I hate waiting for big files over wifi, but looks like the easiest way.
How about USB OTG? And how to copy rom after wiping?
This is supposed to work on nexus 5, right? There are cheap usb otg adapters on ebay for about $5 from China.
Using one of these, couldn't we plug in any usb storage and copy to or from the nexus 5? How is the speed when doing it this way?
So if one wants to install a new rom and wipes the phone completely, how do you copy the rom and gaps onto the phone for flashing? I have always used usb-ms to do this on my old phone with cwm. I have the latest twrp installed on the nexus 5.
No way to do it.but u can connect to pc then u can copy
my old SGS1 can connect both as mass storage and as mtp. with internal and external memory as separated disks.
and i just wondered why high end nexus 5 doesnt support such functionality?

1) Nexus isn't "high end"
2) Because your old SGS1 (and also in fact SGS2) was limited in that /sdcard was not nested within /data/media using FUSE. Android has been using FUSE to nest /sdcard in /data/media (or /data/media/0) for some time.
My thread here may help you understand why

How can you say the Nexus isn't high spec?! It's the most powerful phone on the market bar the LG G2 (which it's based on). You're right about the memory but the only reason the SGS could show both is because of the microSD card - the internal memory was still MTP

I didn't say it wasn't high spec. I said it wasn't high end. It's a high spec, budget phone. Xperia Z1, Now that's High end. High end is more than Spec. It's about materials, quality, construction, functionality. Nexus 5 has a standard 2 GB RAM and yes, has a High spec SoC in the Snapdragon 800 and Adreno 330, but the Spec stops being high there and I think it's hard to argue to the contrary

Not sure I agree with you there. The One X was deemed 'high end' and was made of polycarbonate, similar to the Nexus 5, so it would seem 'high end' is subjective

Yeah maybe it's subjective.
But if you compare the Z1 to the N5 side by side, the Z1 excels in many ways.

Hi.
I bought a $8 Samsung knockoff 32GB micro SD card, class 10. It's acting weirdly, like if I use an usb adapter, and copy some files to it, when I put it back in my Lenovo P780, some of the files disappear or get corrupted... or when I test the writing speed on the phone it's 5-6 mbps, with the usb adapter I only can move files with 2-3 mbps, and when I copy files to the card by connecting the phone to my PC via the original cable, the writing speed is 500 kpbs tops (oddly enough, when I start the copying it starts at 4-5 mbps but then in seconds the speed decreases)
I have read many posts about it online, some said that I should try SD booster apps for android (they didn't work at all) or use the PC software Teracopy to copy files (didn't work) or format it using the HP formatting tool (took me 7 hours, but no luck with it neither) and I almost gave up. This is my last try. If anyone has a solution to magicly turn this thing's writing speed to at least 1 mbps, please, feel free to tell me.
PS: Please don't waste my time telling me "you should have bought an expensive SD card, blah blah..." because it's kinda obvious I don't have any money to spend on stuff like this.
