Hello, I'm new here. I have tried to search for this and nothing recent came up but apologises if I missed something.
Google Maps never seems to close (restarts after killing). I don't know if this happened before the Maps update (couple of days ago). I have turned off buzz and latitude yet its used 11% of my battery (and I've not used it once). Is there anyway to stop this happening as my current battery life is awful?
I'm using a HTC Desire on Orange UK if anybody needs to know.
Thanks, Rowan.
Do you have Google Latitude enabled ? If so it's constantly reporting your location ...

Ah turns out I did, I thought i'd disabled but I must not have.
It's now disabled but still alyways runs but no longer is in the battery usage page, is this a problem or should I jsut ignore it?
Thanks, Rowan.

Hi. This drove me crazy too. Try this.
1. Open browser normally
2. Visit any site other than your home page
3. Set this site as your Home Page
4. Revisit old Home Page
5. Reset this to Home Page
Voila!! Google Maps stops. I assume it will work for any app that keeps running.
Hi, i've got a new Huawei Ascend Mate international version, and since a few, i've got a huge battery drain from Google Account Manager, i've unchecked a lot of Google sync in the parameters but still not working, any idea ?
Thank's
I do wonder if Huawei's kirin chip/firmware has power issues on background processes hence why push notifications limited & little sign of fixing from Huawei.
What drain are others having on GAM & what settings !?
No no any power issues it is something new from google..
After update..
And obviously very good mate detects it drains..
It drains quite a lot ..
Here also the same problem. I don't know whether it is Google problem or Huawei firmware problem but it needs to be addressed soon in an update.

Can you try doing clear cache, data then force- stop "Google Services Framework"? Then reboot phone then test if the issue persists.

Do a restore from options - backup and restore.. I always say to ppl DO BACKUP but THIS time don't do backup IF you have micro sd port everyting there your contacts should be on your gmail..
Erase your phone and start over again
Root your phone and GET RID OF completely all gapps EXCEPT g play store.. and gmail , maps , g translate, as they ar useless and power hungry .. And you will see hows your batt. improved ...

Hello guys, how is your Mate 7's battery life doing now? Please tell me.
I have the same problem or a worse battery drain problem in my Mate 7 L09. It was running the B127SP02 version (customized by Claro Peru (Operator))
Then a fews hours ago I flashed the B127 stock version from Huawei's web site in hopes for the problem to stop. NO, it keeps loosing power while idle,
no matter if it's all set to save battery, no apps allowed in the background, set to airplane mode, etc, the battery drain while iddle is horrible! It can lose 15% in 3 hours.
And the night I bought it I charged it fully and let it idle the whole night, I did not touch it. It went from 100% to 55%!!! In 10:30 hours iddle (please see the pictures).
I attach pictures for you to see how horrible this is. Otherwise the Mate 7 is awesome!
My Mate 7 is second hand, the guy who sold it to me told me everything was normal before (before he did a hard reset).
He had it for some 10 months. There's no sign of a drop, not any damage. It's like new.
What can be wrong with my Mate 7? Please try to help me. I've seen there aren't many threads about battery drain in the Mate 7, so this is weird.
All reviews and videos and other people I talked to who have a Mate 7 are very surprised with my problem. Their battery life is awesome no matter what!
I've tested with Pc Mark battery work and it only scores 4 hours and 39 minutes!!! How bad is that??, whereas my LG G3 scores easily 5 hours 17 min!!
How much score yours? Please.
I hope you can help me. Maybe you can share the exact version your Mate 7 is doing fine with. Please.
I've downloaded from the link below a couple of Updates (B137 and B143) to flash and try.
HTML:
http://www.carbontesla.com/2015/07/download-ascend-mate-7-l09-b137sp03-stock-kitkat-firmware/
Please, I await your kind help. I'll be reporting what's up later.
- Leonardo.
PD: The problematic processes seem to be: MMI Test 2, Google Backup Transport and Google Contacts update (o something like that). BUT no one of them is reported to be using more than 1 mAh.
Did you already tried to reinstall the whole firmware, via 3buttons method? You will loose all your data but Android firmware will be brand new, like out of the box. Then try to reinstall one by one your apps, by checking if (just in case) any of them suck buttery.
How much battery is lost while idle overnight in your Mate 7?

Hello. Thanks for your input.
So far I've tried B137 (not SP03 in name) and the build before this. What does it mean SP03, btw?
But, the problem persists. It's losing energy at a 3-4.5% per hour in idle state (all battery saving tips applied).
In PC Mark battery work benchmark scores 4 hours and 20 minutes. Not too bad, but other people are getting at least 5 hours and 30 minutes.
What can be so wrong?
But the one million dollar question is: How much battery is lost while idle overnight?
This is the real question I think, because in all my tests, no matter the build version, I have got l least 5 hours of SOT (17 hours of use in total), which is not bad,
but most people get at least 7 hours SOT (in some 30+ hours) I guess I use it too frequently.
So, that would be the main question, the lose of energy in idle state, and why does it happen to almost everyone in more or less amount.
Please, people, do try to answer and tell all of us. Thank you!
- Leonardo.
Hi,
Love my new gear s3 frontier...sleek and sexy with satisfactory battery life.
My only gripe with it is the HORRIBLE s voice app and pathetic stock map....
Is there anyway to replace these with google maps and google voice?
i.e. 'ok google, navigate home'....then it automatically opens google map or just having the ability to speak out the address would be helpful.
Thanks
Google maps and search do not work on Tizen.

Nope, this is the downside of choosing a gear s3. The watch and ui are better but you don't get full Google integration.
Gear Navigator Standalone seems to be pretty good. Haven't gone through it as I have only had the S3 for a couple days. It is a pay app, think it was like $3.00 or something. I'm in the US.
Type Google maps in the gear store there is a api for Google maps there and brings up Google maps on the watch it needs work tho.
What about Here?
As far as I can see "Here we go does" not send direction arrows to the Gear.
There is a "Here we go" app on the Gear s3 itself but inserting addresses etc is quite a job with those small keys.
So ask Nokia:"Why not send the arrows from the phone app to the gear.
A dealbraker (haha it's free) is also that it does not seem to look in my address book.
Google maps is far superior (Can send info to phone e.g. )but they do not seem to want to do something for Tizen.
So "Directions gear s2" is good solution and it works on my S3.
"Directons for gear s2' to has to be installed on the phone.

yep, that did the job.
Thanks.
Is the Here we go app on te gear it selve necessary for doing he job?
I will see, on the long run, which of the two will win.
I have the idea so far that I have to start Directons for gear s2' manually, to see the arrows. Turning the Gear weel gives me ETA.
While Here arrows start directly, after having moved my phone a bit.

Use HERE in samsung store
Gear Navigator Companion is definitely worth the small amount of money you pay for it. The phone app is really clean and intuitive and links to the watch quickly and accurately.
It has great map detail and best of all you get the option of using Google Street Map images on the watch if you wish! There's also a navigator clock face that displays the time and turn arrows appear in the centre if you are navigating, so you don't need to go back and forth to check the time etc.
.
I looked throught the API docs for the Tizen wearable SDK with the idea of building an app that would integrate with (or at least pass commands to) Google assistant and Samsung's docs clearly state that the voice API is only available for the mobile development SDK and not the wearable SDK.
So I don't think anybody will be building an app to allow Google assistant integration any time soon

How do you send directions from the phone "Here we Go" app to the Gear S3 Frontier ?
I downloaded Gear navigator (standalone)
At first I thought it was great, that was until I entered my next destination which was 200km away. I got a message saying max distance is 100km.
Why wasn't that in the description? I wouldn't have paid for it had I known that.

I bought this app but on the couple of occassions I've tried it on my S3 Frontier it has not worked at all well to be honest. I could set my destination and route no problem on the phone app, but then when I was walking it did not seem to manage to keep up with where I actually was (I had good clear view above for GPS - no high buildings) so the turn alerts were hopeless as it was not properly tracking my current location. Will try it again but so far am not convinced.

Is it the Gear Navigator Standalone version or Navigator Companion that you are using? They are quite different in use.
I am using the Companion version which doesn't rely solely on the watch GPS.

Sorry for the late reply.
I really don't do anything special. I had Here wego in the phone with offline maps already. I got the s3 so I set it up standard. Installed navigator and here wego apps and it started working automatically. Just need to make sure phone has bluetooth connection to the s3.
Guys,
My phone started to behave abnormally after updating to may 10th google play services. I constantly lose wifi and my phone gets frozen. I gotta retart it in every hour.
Also whenever i send a location it says "google services are updating" i uninstalled services and it updated itself then problems started again.
When the phone get frozen the heat increases like crazy and the battery depletes itself enermously if i dont restart it.
When i lose wifi i cannot see any other wifi networks in the settings. I lose them all and it appears as if there are no wifi networks.
I also wonder if this could be a battery issue? I will reset to factory settings tonight if noone has an answer to this.
Thanks. I am on aura 2.2 rom the latest version
I am also having an issue with google play services. I am using sport tracking apps and they all show google play services updating.
Do you also get random crashes and freezes? I checked many forums, it is very common among huawei users right now. It has affected many phones and you can find many complaints about it. But google provided no support right now.
I also read that factory resetting is not solving the issue. So i am not gonna waste time on that and wait for a new update.
But i can tell for the first time i regret using a huawei phone. Deeply loving it made me cover its faulty updates but i got tired of restarting the phone hourly
I had the exact same issues you described. Google Street View, Uber, and other apps would display 'google services are updating' and not work at all.
Fixed it by leaving the Google Play Services beta testing channel. I'm now running version 12.6.73 (040400) and all's back to normal.
On the other hand my P20 is still on the beta channel 12.6.73 (040408) and no issues.
There's an ongoing thread about an issue which seems what you're talking and is specific to Huawei phones. My problem related to this, is that I can't logon on Chrome... More details in the link below
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=838576#c38
Hi, on my Mate 9 in my Car with Android Auto, the Google Assistent dont run, and says everytime when i activate it: "There is no stable Internet Connection"
I hope google or Huawai will it correct it
Hello,
Same problems with my Mate 9 MHA-L09
It was said that this bug is reported by many people in Google issue tracker. Lots of Google Maps apps such as Uber and Taxify don't work well. It looks like wide range of Huawei devices is severely impacted by latest Play Services update to version 12.6.73. A good news is Google is working on it.
Two temporary solution for an end-user to try:
1. Clear cache & data of Google Play services
2. Go to Setting - App - Google Play Services, disable it to go back factory version.
Restart the phone and go to Google Play Store to do the update on Google Play Services.
Wonder if this is the same "bug" I've been having trouble with. Sometimes, & I can't nail down how it happens, if I wake up the phone, and it could have been screen off for 5 minutes, all night, 20-30 minutes...no pattern, that after waking it up, tap on anything and it might be 10-20 seconds before it does anything. EVERY app is like that. I thought it might have been with Nova launcher, but that doesn't seem to be it, rebooting the phone appears to "fix it". Just dumped cache on play, stopped, uninstalled, rebooted (play store isn't showing any updates, still at 11.xx). I'll just watch it and see how it act.
By me its help Temporary, Everythings run until the next restart of my phone and my smartwatch must reset to
So far, almost 24 hours later, dumping the storage, stopping, "uninstalling" the play services, and going back to the stock one (11.xx) seems to have cured my "lag". Everything is snappy again.
Can someone confirm that with this issue ongoing you can open events in the Calendar app? If possible from an Exchange account...
Currently I open Calendar, select an event, it opens and immediately closes. So Calendar now is also unusable for me What's going on?
Thanks!

Yes it has been fixed (sic!) with version 12.6.85 from version 12.6.73. The big errors have been fixed on software such as Uber and Map programmes. Still awaiting to see if the hardware problems are sorted, (my phone would be hot to the touch to the extent that glue on the phone cover would soften and become pliable).
To summarise.... So far so good.
I can confirm, I have upgraded to 12.6.85 earlier today and so far so good.
Clear now
So far, almost a week into the update, no issues on my end with the phone lagging.
I just had a update on maps this morning and it works perfectly now!!! That used to be my only gripe with this phone aside from notifications. But since I got all my notifications to work now ,maps finally working makes this phone really great for my use!!!
What was the problem for Google maps? Mine worked perfectly since day one.

My Google maps is still not connecting to my car Bluetooth. What needs to be done. Has anyone facing the same problem. I got Huawei p20 pro.
You are the only one with Google maps problem?
Anyhow this is what the you need to do, first delete ALL you smartphones under Android Auto from your car system settings, from system settings also remove Bluetooth devices, now in your phone remove Android Auto, Reboot phone and re-install Android Auto and plug in to your car run setup
i dont know if this has already been answered but i have the android auto connected to my car so i can use google maps as a satnav through my car system and mid directions it will cut out and go to the home screen on the computer interface. when i click back on maps it continues my journey but whilst on the home screen no directions are read out. its super annoying and was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it?
Hey guys! And what about Google Timeline? Does it work on your Huawei P20 Pro's? Cause I have a one which doesn't write a history of my positions, so my Google Timeline is empty? Does anyone know how to fix this?
