Lg stylo 2 plus-enable full usb otg function - LG Stylo 2 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

Upon dabbling ALOT with the LGMS550 (Stylo 2 Plus) MetroPcs) I figured out how to enable FULL OTG SUPPORT..if u try to plug in ANY usb device ...NOTHING HAPPENS...
Things you'll need..
1) ROOT...TWRP FOR OUR DEVICE...GOOGLE IT...DO THE WORK LIKE I DID
2) BUSYBOX
3)ROOT BROWSER....THATS IT
USING ROOT BROWSER NAVIGATE TO- /sys/devices/soc/78db000.usb/power_supply/usb/usb_otg--edit from 0 to 1...save
THATS IT ...EXIT LLPLUG IN A USB DEVICE WITH OTG CABLE....A POP UP WILL SHOW IN UR DROP DOWN MENU...
PROFIT!!
I DID IT ...IM JUST A NORMAL SELF TAUGHT GUY..OH YEAH...ITS TRUE.TRY IT FOR YOUR SELF... it may take a couple times of plugging and unplugging your USB device but it will show in your drop down menu have a nice day
Oh yeah one more thing you're charging port will no longer work until you reboot when you enable usb OTG it becomes a USB host in your charging doesn't work anymore so you'll have to configure your own script at boot or whenever you feel like making it happen figure it out just know that you can't charge your phone until you reboot or change the values back bye bye
UPDATE!!!!!
THE ONLY FILE THAT NEEDS TO BE EDITED IS ...usb_otg. from 0 to 1.
Don't forget to put it back to zero when you're finished otherwise your phone won't charge.
I use "QUICKEDIT text editor on top of ROOT EXPLORER..
thats it.

As long as you return everything to default settings I've tried it a hundred times already and I've had this phone for over a year it works great my phone is nowhere near stock at all but the OTG is fully functional when you do as I say

Good to know info. Thank you....

Here's some more otg info.
Only modding USB otg file enables otg
Idk if the fifth pin for otg works because if i enable otg it outputs 5 volts through a charger. Here's some pictures

Thank you!
Can you by chance give a brief description of what each change edit does so we can understand what is being changed?
Thanks for your work.

Idk tbh but I only edited the USB otg file and it enabled it

Hey there. Is it alright if i add this to my guide for this phone?

I'd rather you didn't because I really put in a lot of work trying to figure out how to enable OTG on this phone... I'll do a fair exchange with you send me a copy of the stock boot image... and yeah sure you can use it I want all the credit though bro cuz it took me a couple months to make this happen all by myself searching the hundreds and countless countless files..k. what are you doing on your thread anything interesting I'd like to be a part it

And for the record you only have to change one file. its the "usb_otg" file enable from 0 to 1 and make sure you put it back to zero when you're done otherwise your phone won't charge..k

Thank you for figuring this out you Rock

Sorry for getting back to you sooo late. I'm involved in a LineageOS build for this phone. You can find the XDA thread in the LG Stylo 2 Plus forum. We also have a telegram group for the project. Hit me up on telegram (use my flair link) and I'll add you to it. Anyway, I made a Tasker profile to toggle the OTG state. Let me know if you want it. Also, theoretically, wouldn't every device with the SD430 be able to use this?

Sorry for being a newb, but cannot seem to save the change as mentioned above. Tried both Root Browser & ES File Explorer to no avail. I made sure that my TWRP is installed (rooted), also installed Busybox. All programs are granted the permission in SuperSU. Further, dp_dm file permission property shows rw-r-r. similar to the other two that I could change and save without issues. So in summary, I could change from 0 to 1 and save, but when I go back to confirm, it's reverted back to 0, with file timestamp properly reflecting current time.
FWIW, I verified that my 32GB Sandisk OTG Flashdrive & Kingston MobileLite G4 card reader worked to my surprise! So not sure what I'm missing from dp_dm value change omission.
TIA for any help!

THATS MESSING WITH THE HARDWATE ITSELF.. mine is just a software modification that is completely safe you don't need all that stuff that you posted screenshots of that's for sure

Here are the necessary Tasker tasks, made by me. Credit to @WoodEe23

Update (kinda...) if you plug in power, before you enable OTG, your phone will charge while it's OTG functions working .So you don't have to worry about having a full battery before you start it'll actually work with a power supply. But only if you have it plugged in with OTG adapter already inserted with power as well before you enable OTG function
IN UR FACE!!!! cell phone manufacturers, and mobile carriers, that decided to disable in the first place.....?why have compatible hardware for something like that but disable it... pretty dumb.. I guess they're like well they didn't spend that much money on the phone so we'll just take away this unique function, of this phone that is actually kind of greedy.. and just mean,:laugh but luckily there's people like me who can figure that stuff out and make it happen awesome

Is there any way we could possibly develop a kernel for the Stylo 2 plus that has OTG already enabled I mean last couple custom roms I used on the Stylo 2 plus claim to have OTG already enabled in the fs tab boats that it does but it doesn't work at all on this you modify the file I already mentioned before anyway you can help me with developing with kernel for this phone maybe even USB Wi-Fi adapter support

No, because I remember when I had this phone I found out it doesn't have enough pins for OTG. Although you can enable the switch with Tasker, it will disable your charging. So your best bet would be using Tasker with an on and off switch.

, I know for a fact that if it's even able to be enabled by changing a zero to one that a kernel can be developed that has it already enabled come on man you're not talking to his sixth grade class here

Don't follow these instruction for OTG!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't follow these horrible instructions for OTG on the MS550 LG Stylo 2 Plus phones....... Just go to DEV OPTS in settings and scroll down to USB Configuration. Once you have cables connected then on screen choose -->-->RNDIS (USB Ethernet)<--<-- mode. and you don't even have to root your phone for this. Yeah I prefer the Easy Lifestyle and not the Shoot My Brains Lifestyle!!!

Thats amazing for the use of Shadow Cloud Gaming!
Sadly imreally noob in this,by anychance you have a tutorial video for the otg, imalready have 64 BITS 8.1 Lineage OS with TWRPand MAGISK Root, but i dont understanthe next step about busybox and the root browserand the changes ....

Rooted - What to do and what NOT to do?

okay I just rooted my phone since everyone here told me to. I only did it so I can fix this Skype problem so I didn't have to factory reset.
What exactly can I do now that it is rooted with my LG optimus 3d.
Also I was told there are things you cannot do.
- You can't factory reset or it will brick your phone.
- You have to use usb debugging everytime you plug the phone into your computer.
- You have to have usb mass storage off always when plugging into your computer.

can you explain in more detail.
because when usb debugging is enabled with the phone plugged in there is no way to get anything on or off my phone.
I cannot take the pictures off my phone, I cannot drag music onto the phone, etc.

Not true, when you plug your phone to your computer depending on the ROM it will either automatically enable USB mass storage, or bring up a screen on the phone allowing you to put it in USB mass storage mode. Either way, your phone will still function the same (unless using ICS).
I haven't come across a ROM that doesn't let you use mass storage unless that feature is broken on it.
USB Mass Storage should be perfectly usable for you. Especially if you're still running stock.
USB mass storage doesn't automatically turn on when the phone is plugged in, so nothing shows up. I have to manually turn it on.
if usb debugging is not enabled when I plug my phone in will anything screw up?
and what else can I do now?
I have superuser and I fixed my skype problem.

No it won't mess it up if you plug it in with debugging disabled. Probably the most important thing for you to do now is flash a custom recovery, make a nandroid back up and if you want, flash a custom ROM.

That will point you in the right direction to get CWM recovery. The dev forum is not the easiest to navigate. To make a nandroid backup, just go into recovery and select "backup and restore" and then "backup". I can't comment on the ROM's because I don' have that phone.
Download ROM manager from the market. You can backup your existing ROM, install custom ROM's. There is a free version which I used for a while, but wanted to support the developers so I went ahead and got the premium version.
I would also highly recommend Titanium Backup. You can backup wifi settings, sms, mms, apps, etc.
yeah I downloaded ROM manager and I also have the same problem it only shows the 1 version, not my phone listed.
I looked in the thread you linked me... v.4.8.0.7 is a premium version. I found a link on google to download it but it's from my mediafire, I don't know if that's safe it could be infected.
apparently v.4.8.0.7 is the only version that has my phone model.
is there a safe site to download an old version? maybe there is a v.4.8.0.7 that isn't premium.
can I assume it's safe? It's an old premium version so...
Have you tried any root apps? I have recently rooted and finding some of them really worth the trouble of going through the rooting process
you guys really should elaborate a little bit more, or atleast point in the right direction....
1) you can do a factory reset all you want. it's just going to put the phone back into its stock condition. there really isn't a point in doing it though, so don't bother
2) usb debugging mode is only needed if you want to interface with your phone in a certain fashion. read up on ADB. if the ONLY thing you want to do is be able to get pictures from your phone, or put music on it or whatever, you do not need usb debugging mode enabled.
3) again, you can mount your phone as usb storage all you want. it isn't going to hurt anything. the ONLY reason you would NOT want your phone in this mode is when you are doing stuff with #2.
and to be quite honest, before you do ANYTHING with your phone like this again, do your research. i researched for a week before I rooted my phone. i already knew why debugging mode needed to be enabled and when/why i would want my phone in either storage or charge only modes. learn what you can from your specific phones section as taking info from a different phones section and applying it to yours can seriously mess you up. like brick your device kind of mess you up.
here are a few links to get you started:
LG Optimus 3D forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1073
(I noticed that it doesn't have a Q&A section. Ask questions in the GENERAL section, NOT the Development forum)
A VERY general overview of what ADB is and what it can do:
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=ADB
And if you don't know something, or feel like "winging it" when it comes to altering your phone in any way, stop, don't do it, research and ask questions. Trust me you'd rather be the annoying guy asking the right questions than the idiot that says "HALP! I FUX0r3d my phone!" because you didnt know exactly what you are doing.
ALSO: if the ONLY reason you rooted your phone was to fix this Skype issue, and it has been fixed, you don't really NEED to go any farther. You accomplished your goal. That being said, with a rooted phone the possibilities are pretty much endless. The Devs do awesome work
EDIT!!!!
Here is a link to the actual ROM Manager website. At the top of the page it says "ROM Manager APK" download and install that to your phone.
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Alternatively, here is the link to the FREE version of ROM Manager on the Market:

Hope I helped.

I have optimus 3D and when you connect to pc via usb you should see a message on phone saying to press its button to enable usb storage.
Press the button on screen and it will then enter usb storage mode.

Uh oh I do all three of those things probably on a daily basis....
Nandroid backup is your best friend. Get used to using it first and foremost. It's a total snapshot of your system. Once you get used to backing up and restoring a few times, and see how great it works, you'll gain a lot of confidence in trying out custom ROMs, which is where a lot of the fun begins.
It is so easy to take a backup, flash a custom ROM, get your email, calendar, phone, etc etc up and working on it quickly, play around with the settings, then take a nandroid backup of THAT (so you can come back to it and continue playing with it where you left off) and restore your "original" system -- it will be exactly as you left it. You can almost think of it as putting down one device and picking up another... the only limitation being you can only "hold" one at a time.
You can essentially live on 2 or 3 different ROMs at once. I generally have my go-to CM7 ROM which is my daily driver, but I've flashed a few different ROMs to check them out, including some pretty stable looking ICS ROMs.
Titanium Backup is helpful in this regard if you have certain apps and user data you want to bring over to a new ROM you're trying out. I've found doing a whole hog TB restore to a new ROM to be too much at once, and restoring system settings from one ROM onto a completely different ROM is often a square peg/round hole situation.
Lurk around on the relevant forums too and you will learn a lot of things you can try!
Oh as for what not to do - first and foremost DON'T PANIC! Anything goes wrong there is a lot of help available but it might take a little time to work out...
Second I agree with the above posters who say don't do something you don't understand. Read and research first, ask questions.
Third, if you really, really rely upon your device for your livelihood, or you mortgaged your house to purchase it, etc etc, don't mess with it. If you can't afford to be down half a day or two days if you messed something up and it might take a while to fix, go buy a cheap android device somewhere for just fooling around with.

this is really fantastic advice. this forum (along with others) is an amazing resource, and it's really because of the help you can get from really knowledgeable AND unpretentious people. for someone who is new to root/android like me, it has proven to be invaluable. whatever you mess up, you can probably get fixed. just don't be too hasty or too careful. i came to android from a work-paid-for BB9630 (tour) i did all kinds of crazy stuff to that phone without fear b/c i knew if i bricked, my company would just give me another one no questions asked .. but i recently bought an evo (for personal use) when i switched jobs, and i wanted to root it and mod it immediately..but... i was a total noob to the process with android AND (just as importantly) i COULD NOT just break my phone and get another like it was nothing. so i read and read and read and asked a bunch of questions on various forums. then one day, like a little kid about to jump off the high-dive for the first time, i rooted and flashed a custom rom. pretty scary that first time, but now i flash a new rom a couple times a week. i have learned so much and am now rooted and enjoying all the things that come with that (except for going to bed later.) don't panic...great advice. i love it.
I have factory reset my phone 3 times while rooted. I didn't think much of it. I have a dinc 2, mabey it depends what phone you have.

I know you can factory reset from recovery but you need to flash a ROM? And your not supposed to factory reset from your phone settings cause it might mess up your phone?
I put them as questions cause I'm not sure.

MTP Sucks

With the latest (and unfortunate) update from HTC, I have come to the conclusion that MTP is not the best protocol to transfer files between 2 devices. Why? It's much slower plus less secure. Maybe I just wanted to charge my device when hooking it up to the PC. With normal USB file transfer, by default, the phone does not mount and show its files to the PC. With MTP it does; and there's no way to stop it. MTP is also less stable. I had freeze ups many times when transferring large files where my computer no longer recognized the device. I had to unplug and restart.
Is anyone else having issues? Or is it just me being on Windows 8? Anyone know of a way to disable MTP and use the traditional way of mounting to sync? Thanks.
Just got an option I'm going to try. I worked on other devices I'll try ours:
"Use system tuner app. Go to startup button. Check for mtp. Click on it and find the exclude button. Click on it. Restart your tab. Connect to your charger and see if it works. For me it does, but you probably have to repeat the step because mtp might appear in your startup again (i don`t know how to kill it once for all)."

in windows 8 it sucks like hell, im with you, but in windows 7 is working fine and super fast, i pass large files from my pc to my phone, and when i say large, they are really large. i use my phone for movies, and i download movies from 5 to 6 GB, and it take a couple of seconds to get from my pc to my phone. you need updated drivers for it to make it work right.

Em what that just bs for a start the filesystem don't even support more the 4gb and then you got the fact there is no way it would copy over so fast that it puts my SSD drive to shame.

Bull****.
MTP cant get over 2MB/sec even when using a high-end PC with SSD HDDs and USB3(yes i know the S doesnt support usb3, thats not the point), while USBMS easily do 10-15MB/sec, and ADB 5-6MB/sec.
MTP is worse than useless. Good thing I coded Quick ADB :silly:
MTP & the suck
I can agree on the initial frustration I had, trying to understand why my other android device allowed the copying of any file ext. onto the SD card. I bought a new phone with the same ICS os(phone did not come with a file manager), when I learned of MTP then what I learned now was that mass storage no longer exists . It is a more secure way the computer reads the device, so to avoid the blockade you'll need another device anything that has m-sd card capability so you can dump any one or more files onto it first off. Then goto googleplay and dl a good file manager program to use while accessing file in the phone. It should be simple from then in on to install any backed up .apk files or view any media(phone did not come with a versatile media player)files.

did not work for me, mtp still loaded!
i hate mtp, every time i copy a image file or video from my phone, it is corrupted, windows 7 or xp.
sometimes my wallpapers get corrupted just using es file explorer or just what seems randomly.
this is on my verizon note 2, running stock JB 4.1.2
anyone find a real solution yet?
if i have to root to get this solved, so be it, but i am about to do so any way since i miss having more control over my device.
turns out after testing, my sd card is a faked 64gb class 10, transfer rate suggests class 4 and 4gb of data was verified, good news is i can still get my money back and my friend who sold it to me may not have known it was a faked card.
MTP is completely retarded. UMS is a tried-and-tested protocol, this is the biggest sh*t sandwich Google has handed Android users so far.
MTP crashes every single time I try to use it. Try opening a folder that contains a large number of files. Explorer will freeze. Furthermore, MTP requres a device-specific driver, whereas UMS uses a standard driver. Oh this sucks so much!
Guys, I don't understand you really... In every ROM I've flashed lately being it AOSP or Sense based, there's an option to switch from MTP to the "old" UMS mode. In AOSP based ROMs it is usually located in Settings - Storage and you should open the menu there and you have USB Computer Connection where you can choose whatever you like. It is an option like any other options, you can use it or not
And yes I agree with you...it sucks

I am on a rooted S4 MINI using the original stock ROM. Other than this small niggle, after removing all the crapware I am pretty happy with what I have, although if there is a compatible ROM that would bring UMS to the table I'd be happy to try it. I just find it very annoying that earlier Samsung phones used to have the UMS option but recently they decided to get rid of it. That's as stupid as it can possibly get: a tried and tested, working feature that was already in place... WTF not just leave it there??

I know CM11 has the option included and I'm sure you have either an official or a CM11 port available for S4 mini

[Q] Cannot connect to PC after de-bloat?

I recently went through the process of de-bloating this phone; following the helpful guides here on the AT&T G3 General forum.
However, I am finding that I cannot connect via USB to my notebook. I am going to try this on my PC @ home this pm and see if this just is not a driver issue on this end.
I restored the LG PC Suite & Suite Service to system (as well as the settings) and tried the PC suite connection app on my notebook. No dice there either...I do not even see the phone asking me how I want to connect to the laptop before I began all this de-bloat.
Is there an APK, etc. I am missing on the phone that I need to bring back to make the PC suite work again, much less connect with my notebook?
I do have developer settings / usb debugging enabled as well as (re-) installed the LG driver package. Thank you for reading / assisting in advance.

perhaps a list of the things you did would help us decipher what might be wrong. Everyone's idea of 'debloating' is different so I'm sure you've done something different then I have.

Thanks for the reply. I removed pretty much everything on the lists provided in the AT&T G3 forums and now Windows 8 refers to my device under "Printers & Devices" as a "USB Charge Only Interface". I am on my home PC now where I can verify a few days ago I could connect to the device.
To be more specific, I cannot switch the G3 into MTP mode. Does anyone know if there is a specific apk (libs, etc) to re-enable this feature?

This is the reason I usually just freeze apps in titanium backup instead of uninstalling bloat altogether. I've had this kind of issue with other devices in the past so I always err on the side of caution. Like the other member said if you can list what all you removed so we can narrow down which app is causing your issue.
I removed all of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2822501
[GUIDE] How to remove bloatware on AT&T LG G3 - ROOT REQUIRED
...and carrier IQ as well. I restored the lg sync files (2) already and no change. Curious what apk allows the phone to be recognized as more than a charging device.

Okay here's a list of apps I've frozen but haven't deleted.
YP
ISIS
Uber
Text link + agent + engine
Play Games
Play movies
Play music
Play newsstand
Play Books
Msg backup and sync
Lookout Security
LG Setup Wizard
Keeper
Hangouts
Google +
Drive Mode
Caller Name ID
Browser
Browser Bar
Att.net home
Att remote support
Ready 2 go
Att navigator
Att mobile locate
Att family map
Att address book
Kindle
I've removed carrier IQ as well. Is there anything more than what's in the list of my frozen apps that you've removed?
Thank you for taking the time. Yes everything from the link I provided above. That is the exact list.
I'm working from the other direction...of what is the file(s) that allow a G3 to go into MTP mode.
Stupid question, but have you checked the cable to ensure its a sync cable?
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
Its a great question, ty for replying. I sure have, using the stock LG supplied USB 2.0 cable

This is going to be kind of obvious but have you gone into devices on your pc and removed the LG drivers? If you remove them and then plug it in it should auto detect and reinstall the drivers. If it doesn't then at least we know its not a driver issue and it is in fact something on your device. I know it'd be a huge coincidence to both the notebook and desktop to have the same problem but the drivers could have somehow been corrupted.

USB Charge Only Interface
this rings a bell, the first time I connected my phone to the computer it did this, I had to change the setting to MTP mode. There should be a notification on the phone that says something about changing the usb mode.
Also I don't think you get this option if the drivers aren't installed properly so that's another thing you could try

Agreed...I will probably flash back to stock, root without tripping qfuse this time, and do a lot of freezing instead of direct removal.

For sure. Its affecting more than that too.
I tried messing with real 4k (not 2k) wallpapers in GN launcher and it really messed with the background. Half screen black and flashing the image every 10 secs...even 1080 wallpapers starting failing.
Switched back to stock launcher and sort of fixed. Reboot finally allowed me to use GN with any 2k or less wallpaper again lol.

Recover Data from (unrooted)Nexus 5 with broken screen without UBS-Debuging turned on

Hello,
as u can read in the title the screen of my (unrooted!) Nexus 5 is broken due to a bicycle accident. The phones flashes if I receive a new message but the screen just dont turn on. Unfortunately I have USB-Debugging disabled...
Now my question is, how can I recover my data? I really need it and ofc have no backup
I read a lot but I still have no idea...
I think, because USB-Debugging is disabled, it will be a lot harder.
(Note: Because I am new, I can't post links, so I replaced "www" with "[worldwideweb.]", sorry )
I found the following tutorial on YT:
[worldwideweb.]youtube.com/watch?v=B7Z_r0Z0CEo
The problem is ofc, that the Nexus hasn't got two charging ports...
Also I found this:
[worldwideweb.]androidphonesoft.com/resources/enable-usb-debugging-android-broken-screen.html (search for "Method 2")
but there is the problem, that this tool is only available for Samsung-Devices...
Now my last hope is, that I can recover my data with adb, but also there I got the problem, that I have USB-Debugging disabled...
(And I dont know, if I have to root my phone? (and if it is even possible without working screen?...)
So my Problems are:
- No USB-Debugging enabled
- No Root
- PC recognizes my phone but not more... (in CMD: "adb devices" doesnt list any device...)
So is there a way of recover my data? It's very important for me and I would be very grateful, if anyone could help me and accompany me through the process with instructions!
I had the same problem and couldn't find a solution. I tried for 3 entire days with any method found or that came to mind. Finally I decided to change the screen with one from eBay ,the cheapest one . If you find a solution let me know. The closer I could get was using an app that was supposed to let you control and see your nexus 5 screen on your PC screen. This app of which I can't remember the name had some bugs, maybe was an old not updated app, because I could see my nexus 5 lockscreen and an arrow controlled by the PC touchpad to simulate the touch, but sadly nexus 5 couldn't react to the arrow movement,a and nexus 5 screen was not full but only a part

But I think, that ur USB-Debugging was activated, wasn't it? Because I don't think, that this would work without USB-Debugging activated...
And then it would be easy, with USB-Debugging enabled there would be like 100 ways
I found no way to retrieve data . How would you do with Usb debugging? Or maybe I don't remember correctly and was for the fact that I had a lockscreen pattern and so Usb debugging is useless... Sadly I have a lg g watch that was not settled as a trusted device to disable the security or had home wifi area to do the same. Maybe there was even the fact that after a reboot you have to put the screen pattern the first time before the automatic unlock. I even tried to recover the partition from bootloader , but if I remember correctly it was hanging after some minutes. Don't ask me why emmc was god on nexus 5, I use the PC to do phone repair, and I'm a technician. I had the same trouble copying the full sdcard partition from recovery, and even restoring it to a new nexus 5 .Because the LCD was not as the original one and I sold the repaired for the same price of another not repaired n5. In the process of copying sd card partition content , it hangs another time. Seems to not digest the copying of some files under android subwoofers. Sorry for the confusion but I don't remember correctly, it was a nightmare. I had 2 infernal weeks because N5 is my first device even to work and I had to use my second phone , a really ultra cheap and underpowered Deco 77x(dual core1ghz with 512mb of ram) which has an M and even an N ROMs that works better than the stock 4.4... Slow as hell but the only way to save my work since my mother steel my galaxy Nexus. Try only to think I had to do some tries for 2 days, order the new screen, change it at a level that was invisible and good for the new user, wait for the new, try to restore a tarp backup to a different phone, find a way because it's not possible, copy sdcard partition , copy manually all the files which broke the full automatic copy process, compare all the folders files ... It was a PITA. Now I backup every month to a Usb otg Kingston key, at least I have only to restore it to a different device and do the sdcard things.... It's slow to create a backup but I can do it when is in charge, because the USB key do charge pass through and this is greaatttt even to watch movies (don't do that always, Usb key reach a really hot temperature, but case ,Usb port or phone shell reported not even a minimal sign)
The copy stopping could be a windows 10 bug ,never had that in 7 ... This new os is s*** ,has many small fu****g bugs... I wish I never updated ,I found those bugs after 1 month so I can't go back.

Ok, so there is no good solution? :/
Can I just replace the screen with a cheap one from ebay and then use it again? This should work, shouldn't it?
You can try yourself, but I found no way, I don't want to discourage you, but I tried all comes to mind and all gone wrong, and I'm an average user. Yea you can get a pretty cheap display... I tell you the truth, I didn't changed it for a new one after the repair because the display was not good, but because I was in warranty and here in europe Google gives you a refurbished unit if you have problems with a warranty of 2 years. So because my phone repaired was 90% the same as a new phone but battery starts to degrade I took the chance to request a refurbished unit because of the battery and to reset my warranty to two years. Mine was a 2013 unit, and I asked for a change other 2 times... I m in warranty til 2018 now . Going back to the display, from a technician examination, I can tell you that all the display I bought to repair my customers units seems to be original displays with original touchscreens, only slightly variations in colours calibration like on preassembled units. Only the plastic frame sometimes seems not legit, because 2 times I found it a deeper black and more rough (like sandstone of one plus one)
So I simply buy myself a new display and replace it and then I should (ofc) be able to backup it, right?
Is there a difference between like 30$ screens to 60$ screens on ebay for example?

Yeah but I think, that I have to know what I should press after Volume down + Power on (for 10secs I guess)...
Which Linux version should I use?
Then I would create an bootable usb-stick with Linux and would try it

Wait wait
Turn the Nexus 5 ON , and other android phone with OTG SUPPORT.
Connect OTG cable to Other Android device.
Now connect your Nexus 5 to the Android device via USB cable.
Connection goes like this:
android device - otg - usb - Nexus 5
Now you can see contents of NEXUS 5 ON *other* Android device.
Hope it helps.

No.
You take Another Nexus 5 or any other device from a friend.
Connect OTG cable to the friend's device then connect ur Nexus 5 to your friend's.
Then your files will appear in ur friend's device.

LG K120 / K4 4G OTG

Hi everyone! Total noob here so please be patient
I have this weird username bcs whatever I put was already taken so I monkeytyped.. and this came out xD
So it's about a week now that I'm struggling to activate OTG on this phone (that from what I can see is not noob friendly)
If I don't solve this issue (reading a microSD without having to open the cover all the time) I'll have to use a laptop (bcs it's the only way to transfer files from my camcorder to Kinemaster (app for editing videos) I can't do any other way bcs I'll be off the grid for long time and I can't use my desktop computer to transfer files to my phone.
I've rooted my phone and the OTG checker app tells me OTG is active now.. yet whan I try, it doesn't read any USB stick or sd reader.
I've also bought different adapters thinking it's that the problem.. but nothing external gets detected.
Then today I discovered that this phone is particularly hard to tweak aswell bcs I wanted to get rid of the annoying vibration it does all the time I connect it to my computer or when I charge it.. and it was impossible for me to understand how to install the frameworks and app needed and make them work.
So If you'll tell me something that I can do, I'll try.. but if you'll tell me change your phone bcs it's hard and dangerous to fix this issues.. then I'll consider to get a new one.
Sorry for being so long.
Thanks for your time guys.
thanks
