Hello,
I want to flash my sony xperia xz (kernel and recovery) and to root it.
Actually I have one problem. When Itry to flash the kernel (AndroPlus - latest version), the flash over adb success. But
when I reboot the phone I will have an bootloop at the sony logo.
bootloader is already unlocked
FW: 39.0.A.3.30

Do I have to go to latest firmware 41.2.A.6.4 to flash kernel and recovery?
Please can you help me.
Read the intro on Androplus's website (unfortunateley in light green). There he states what kernel to use for which Android version.
Answering your qudstion: yes
Sorry,
But I did not find the light green Intro.

With am unlocked bootloader.... Flash an insecure kernel.
Having an unlocked bootloader is the easiest way to root, but not always the best....

Thank you for the answer. I was looking for such a kernel and I did not find any, maybe you can give me a link please. So after I flash that kernel, with Flashtool, what do I do next?
Look in the dev section. There are loads of them. Just flash it. You will have root

Ok, I looked, I found AndroPlusKernel.
But someone in that thread asked if he needs root to flash that kernel.
The reply was : YES.
So which is it? I want to root the phone, If I flash that how is my phone rooted, how can I flash a custom recovery?
You do not need root to flash a custom kernel, you need an unlocked bootloader.
On Xperia devices generally a custom recovery is in the custom kernel you flash.

Ok, I have installed a kernel with TWRP included, all good until I installed Xposed for Lollipop, that alpha version, now everytime I restart the phone I get a bootloop. The only fix is reset to factory settings, and after that the same, every time I reboot the phone I get a bootloop.
The only solution is to reflash a ftf ?
Well, thanks for nothing, I will fix it myself.

You install an alpha version and it does not work and you blame me.
Please take some time to consider what xda is about before you start blaming others because you can't find the fix to it.

This week sony release the new upgrade build for MarshMallow 32.2.A.0.224. I am currently using build 32.1.A.1.185 with ROOT ACCESS which I did using this ROOTING GUIDE for XPERIA Z5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/guide-rooting-unlocking-bootloader-t3354307
I have read here in on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/root-partially-upgrade-to-32-2-0-224-t3391235 , that one of the guys upgraded to this new build without loosing ROOT ACCESS to his Z5. All I wanted to ask should I continue like him Upgrading from my PC/PHONE to the new build without loosing root access or is there going to be some long lengthy UPGRADING GUIDE for this new Z5 Build.?:silly::crying::cyclops:
It's easy. Why don't you just flash your Firmware and your Kernel with Recovery again and install SuperSu again? Or you might try FlashFire by Chainfire

But what do you mean by Flashing and kernel with Recovery?:crying::silly: I mean I know about Flashing and all this recovery stuff. But please can you elaborate further on what you said ? I will be thankful to you
Well, you do almost exactly the same as in the guide, but you leave out the drm backup Part (not the restore part) and you dont use the firmware version in your guide, you use the newest one avaliable which you can download with xperifirm

Ahan .. Got it .... :good::silly: .. Did you try this method? Maybe the newer build might have some kind of security feature that this old guide will fail to address and thus ending up with NON-ROOTED Upgraded MarshMallow. I am optimistic about the return of Sony' STAMINA MODE. Thats why I want to upgrada ASAP because this current DOZE MODE of MM itself is sucker and doesnt deliver as it is advertised
I think what ali112 said makes sense, the only question I have is wouldn't we require an updated version of the kernel too?
This hasn't been updated yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-twrp3-0-z5-adv-stock-kernel-2016-03-t3333829
And from what I see, this one had a SIM detection error (haven't tried it myself): http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/32-2-0-224-ftf-rootable-kernel-t3391071/page4

It's easy to upgrade, download the latest . ftf extract the kernel and prepair it as before, flash the new .ftf with flashtool without wiping any, then flash the new prepaired kernel with fastboot.
This worked for me
/MKL
Yes, MKL is right. Mantis is right. I havent read the whole guide, I thought it includes the extraction of the kernel and patching it. Alternatively you could use AndroPlus Kernel v31 or higher
Don't be too exciting for stamina mode. It is really bad... I mean it disables all animations....

Since TWRP is not official for Xz2c, you will need to rely on custom builds, or build your own. Only one I know of for O is here - https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603893744 - by @MartinX3. It's for a different build, but I think you should be able to update build without wiping data, and be OK. He also has a corresponding ftf here -

Ftf is the flashing file that contains all of the information and files to flash a stock rom on your phone.
To root, just flash the ftf, and then follow the instructions in MartinX3's recovery thread here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...recovery-twrp-3-2-2-0-touch-recovery-t3821597.
To flash the ftf, you need to use Flashtool by Androxyde or Newflasher. They each have their own threads with instructions / support.
If you use Flashtool, you'll need this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp.../flashtool-android-pie-52-x-fsc-file-t3896454

You really should read up on the process since bricking a handset is really easy, and your questions show a lack of understanding. TWRP is not a ROM, TWRP is a RECOVERY. Your phone has a bootloader, a recovery and a ROM (the operating system). You can only change operating systems (a different ROM or a rooted ROM) by changing the recovery which enables flashing ROMs, and you can only change the recovery by unlocking the bootloader. Screwing up any of those steps can brick a handset.
XDA is chock full of information and the poster above gave you directions for several helpful threads. Read these carefully and most of your questions will be answered.
