Upgrading Xperia Z5 Dual from 32.1.A.1.185 to 32.2.A.0.224 without loosing ROOT?

This week sony release the new upgrade build for MarshMallow 32.2.A.0.224. I am currently using build 32.1.A.1.185 with ROOT ACCESS which I did using this ROOTING GUIDE for XPERIA Z5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/guide-rooting-unlocking-bootloader-t3354307
I have read here in on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/root-partially-upgrade-to-32-2-0-224-t3391235 , that one of the guys upgraded to this new build without loosing ROOT ACCESS to his Z5. All I wanted to ask should I continue like him Upgrading from my PC/PHONE to the new build without loosing root access or is there going to be some long lengthy UPGRADING GUIDE for this new Z5 Build.?:silly::crying::cyclops:
It's easy. Why don't you just flash your Firmware and your Kernel with Recovery again and install SuperSu again? Or you might try FlashFire by Chainfire

But what do you mean by Flashing and kernel with Recovery?:crying::silly: I mean I know about Flashing and all this recovery stuff. But please can you elaborate further on what you said ? I will be thankful to you
Well, you do almost exactly the same as in the guide, but you leave out the drm backup Part (not the restore part) and you dont use the firmware version in your guide, you use the newest one avaliable which you can download with xperifirm

Ahan .. Got it .... :good::silly: .. Did you try this method? Maybe the newer build might have some kind of security feature that this old guide will fail to address and thus ending up with NON-ROOTED Upgraded MarshMallow. I am optimistic about the return of Sony' STAMINA MODE. Thats why I want to upgrada ASAP because this current DOZE MODE of MM itself is sucker and doesnt deliver as it is advertised
I think what ali112 said makes sense, the only question I have is wouldn't we require an updated version of the kernel too?
This hasn't been updated yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-twrp3-0-z5-adv-stock-kernel-2016-03-t3333829
And from what I see, this one had a SIM detection error (haven't tried it myself): http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/32-2-0-224-ftf-rootable-kernel-t3391071/page4

It's easy to upgrade, download the latest . ftf extract the kernel and prepair it as before, flash the new .ftf with flashtool without wiping any, then flash the new prepaired kernel with fastboot.
This worked for me
/MKL
Yes, MKL is right. Mantis is right. I havent read the whole guide, I thought it includes the extraction of the kernel and patching it. Alternatively you could use AndroPlus Kernel v31 or higher
Don't be too exciting for stamina mode. It is really bad... I mean it disables all animations....

magisk problem

Have now done the following .
1. Cell unroot per SuperSU ( If only a short note, then the app closed )
2. boot into TWRP manually and flashed Magisk - v6
3. next phh 's systemless superuser ) with Super SU magisk version already tried )
4. Mobile launched new
5. After that, it will not boot - When loading only the LED that flashes red and I have to flash a new firmware ...
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong ?
Have a Sony Xperia Z3 D6603
gerooted and SuperSU ( 2.78 )
TWRP 3.0.2-0
Rom : PureX v5 ( Android 6.0.1 - 23.5.A.1.291 )
Locked Blootloader
would be great if he had a solution for me ...

I had the same, but maybe the SU can't uninstall. I'm on existenz Rom...
Don't you need an unlocked bootloader?
Sent from my D6633 using Tapatalk
at magisk was nothing about it because that an unlocked bootloader is required.
Yes unlocked Bootloader is required. My Bootloader is unlocked. But can't delete the superuser.apk. That's bad
Exactly the same happened to me. I tried SLiMM 3.1 and PureX V5. After installing Magisk in TWRP device is like dead - only led flashes. If I used Elite kernel, system boots, but the system gets random restarts. Now flashing eXistenZ.
Maybe cause you need to be on stock rom and stock kernel
I use the stock kernel with custom Rom based on the latest official version
Got same issue when using stock kernel on my Xperia Z2, switched to Advanced stock kernel Marshmallow 6.0.1 'cause it has Systemless root support and SElinux permissive and now everything works.
I have try it again, with unroot and install Magisk. Now it works with the advanced stock kernel. But I have some reboots when root is enabled.
Hi All,
I have the same problem, I can see S1 /SOMC Flash Device in Device Manager.
Could someone please post step by step instructions to restore a to Marshmellow?
Will I have to download an Image and a Flashtool?
I have D6603 with TWRP, I am not able to boot to recovery.

Resolved using Emma. I installed the S1 SOMC Flash Device Drivers and I was able to download lollypop.
I will attempt now to reinstall recovery, new rom, and Magisk

[Kernel][Stock 5.1.1] Manjuu Kernel for Sony Xperia C3 D2533 / D2502

This is a stock kernel for the Xperia C3 D2533 and D2502 running stock 5.1.1 firmware.
I am learning from scratch in my free time so updates will be very slow or non-existent, please bear with me until then. Right now I only have a kernel image which must be flashed through ADB (you need to look up in the forums here to install it), nothing else is needed.
Make sure your phone's bootloader is unlocked and has a working recovery, use this guide to do it if you haven't done so.
Basic requirements:
Phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked
You have a working recovery for your device
You know how to backup and flash images/kernels with TWRP
ADB and Fastboot works perfectly in your computer and phone
You know how to use ADB and Fastboot, otherwise Google it
Install instructions
Just flash the zip file through TWRP, it will take a minute or two to finish up. If you're using Magisk, you need to reflash the Magisk zip to patch the new kernel.
Download link
Manjuu Kernel v5
Changelog:
V5
- Remove Linux patch (It was the wrong way to patch this kernel and will cause conflicts)
- Revert commits from another kernel (also caused some conflicts and increased battery drain)
- Added SafetyNet patch
- This is not tested. Please flash UnSU, the kernel, then Magisk. Right now Magisk v12 will result in high CPU usage, use v11.6 instead. You will trip SafetyNet if you have Xposed or SuperSU in your device.
Older changelogs:
V4
- Downgrade Intelliplug to 4.0 for better compatibility
- Cleaned up some coding
- Merge some bugfix and improvements (Refer to github commits)
- Now that we have a flashable zip, driver modules are added as well
V3
- Update Intelliplug to 5.0
- Added overclock to 1600Mhz
- Some compilation optimizations
- General kernel bugfix (refer to github commit)
- Update linux kernel to 3.4.5
V2
- Added Intelliplug hotplug
- Added KCAL support (get control app from here)
V1
- First build with Linaro GCC toolchain

Make a backup of your boot.img with TWRP, copy the backup file also into your PC then try flashing it. This might break recovery so be prepared to reflash them if it won't boot. Let me know if it succeeds/fails.
Nobody has yet to tell me about D2502 so this could be a chance to test it out, thanks.

Basically better performance, and better battery life. It also fixes a few bugs here and there, so hopefully it's also more stable.
Thanks for update

Weird, it should work. Try renaming the file to kernel.img and the change the name in the command line as well.
When you installed the fastboot drivers, did you disable signature verification in windows first? If not, google how to do it then reinstall drivers and reboot.
If it's still not working try using TWRP instead.

This should work on stock rom and the deodex patch as well. Is your phone's bootloader unlocked?

Hi, well thats grt that this kernel works fine. But you mentioned about some rom(Xperia m2 Xperianze z2 rom) working in xperia c3 with this kernel. Can u please give the link to it. Xperia c3 dual do not have any custom rom till date. If the rom given by you works then you will be a God to al the xperia c3 users. I tried to search the rom u mentioned but I found nothing.
Thanks

Problem with kernel flash

Hello,
I want to flash my sony xperia xz (kernel and recovery) and to root it.
Actually I have one problem. When Itry to flash the kernel (AndroPlus - latest version), the flash over adb success. But
when I reboot the phone I will have an bootloop at the sony logo.
bootloader is already unlocked
FW: 39.0.A.3.30
F8331
Do I have to go to latest firmware 41.2.A.6.4 to flash kernel and recovery?
Please can you help me.
Read the intro on Androplus's website (unfortunateley in light green). There he states what kernel to use for which Android version.
Answering your qudstion: yes
Sorry,
But I did not find the light green Intro.
only find the requirements. They Match.
Can You give me information in detail please.

How to install TWRP on Sony Xperia Z3 | Android 4.4.4 ?

Hello everyone
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Dual D6633 running Android 4.4.4 and I would like to install TWRP on it
Does anyone know how to do it?
Bootloader is already unlocked
On the Internet I found this tutorial on several sites and forums
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/root-stock-kernel-twrp-v01-test-28-09-t2889794?__utma=248941774.950623471.1412017766.1412017766.1412017766.1&__utmb=248941774.1.10.1412017766&__utmc=248941774&__utmx=-&__utmz=248941774.1412017766.1.1.utmcsr=l.facebook.com%7Cutmccn=(referral)%7Cutmcmd=referral%7Cutmcct=/lsr.php&__utmv=-&__utmk=228295838
But this doesn't work for me. It bricks my phone and I have to do a hard reset and restore it from scratch.
(That's evan more frustrating because the links in the post are down and it took me hours to find a website where the files are available)
So is there anyone who has a working solution for installing TWRP on my phone?
Thank you for your answers
I have the same problem. I can't find a detailed tutorial how to bring the latest TWRP on the phone. Would be great if someone could write a dummy-proof tutorial.
I'm on the latest stock ROM (MM), btw.
I might be missing something here, but have you tried the method of downloading a recovery.img and then using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"?

This cannot work because Sony stock kernel is not able to boot from recovery. TWRP MUST be packed into kernels RAM disk

Back then when I worked on that problem in June / July I did a lot of research
I found XZDualRecovery and tried. It works but it is only TWRP 2.8. I want to use newer version 3.x.x
Is there a way to change XZ TWRP 2.8 to 3.x.x ??
I also found the rootkernel script by Tobias Waldvogel.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/root-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605
I'm able to boot into TWRP 3.x.x but there's a huge decryption issue which I can't solve. So TWRP does nothing after boot.
I found a version of TWRP which is compatible with D6633 but I can't boot it from phone.
It boots only by fastboot boot d:\twrp\twrp.img
I'm a beginner on Android rooting / modding and did not find a solution to include working TWRP into XZ nor rootkernel by myself. Any ideas for that??
How can I include TWRP into my kernel??
What if you try fastboot flash boot d:\twr\twrp.img
