[Kernel][Stock 5.1.1] Manjuu Kernel for Sony Xperia C3 D2533 / D2502 - Sony Xperia C

This is a stock kernel for the Xperia C3 D2533 and D2502 running stock 5.1.1 firmware.
I am learning from scratch in my free time so updates will be very slow or non-existent, please bear with me until then. Right now I only have a kernel image which must be flashed through ADB (you need to look up in the forums here to install it), nothing else is needed.
Make sure your phone's bootloader is unlocked and has a working recovery, use this guide to do it if you haven't done so.
Basic requirements:
Phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked
You have a working recovery for your device
You know how to backup and flash images/kernels with TWRP
ADB and Fastboot works perfectly in your computer and phone
You know how to use ADB and Fastboot, otherwise Google it
Install instructions
Just flash the zip file through TWRP, it will take a minute or two to finish up. If you're using Magisk, you need to reflash the Magisk zip to patch the new kernel.

Manjuu Kernel v5
Changelog:
V5
- Remove Linux patch (It was the wrong way to patch this kernel and will cause conflicts)
- Revert commits from another kernel (also caused some conflicts and increased battery drain)
- Added SafetyNet patch
- This is not tested. Please flash UnSU, the kernel, then Magisk. Right now Magisk v12 will result in high CPU usage, use v11.6 instead. You will trip SafetyNet if you have Xposed or SuperSU in your device.
Older changelogs:
V4
- Downgrade Intelliplug to 4.0 for better compatibility
- Cleaned up some coding
- Merge some bugfix and improvements (Refer to github commits)
- Now that we have a flashable zip, driver modules are added as well
V3
- Update Intelliplug to 5.0
- Added overclock to 1600Mhz
- Some compilation optimizations
- General kernel bugfix (refer to github commit)
- Update linux kernel to 3.4.5
V2
- Added Intelliplug hotplug
- Added KCAL support (get control app from here)
V1
- First build with Linaro GCC toolchain

And a special no thank you to Sony for being such a potato. The only difference is a potato is a lot more useful than Sony when it comes to customer service.

Make a backup of your boot.img with TWRP, copy the backup file also into your PC then try flashing it. This might break recovery so be prepared to reflash them if it won't boot. Let me know if it succeeds/fails.
Nobody has yet to tell me about D2502 so this could be a chance to test it out, thanks.

What is the benefit to my c3 if I flash the kernel? I'm just wondering.

Basically better performance, and better battery life. It also fixes a few bugs here and there, so hopefully it's also more stable.

Thanks for update

Weird, it should work. Try renaming the file to kernel.img and the change the name in the command line as well.
When you installed the fastboot drivers, did you disable signature verification in windows first? If not, google how to do it then reinstall drivers and reboot.
If it's still not working try using TWRP instead.

This should work on stock rom and the deodex patch as well. Is your phone's bootloader unlocked?

Hi, well thats grt that this kernel works fine. But you mentioned about some rom(Xperia m2 Xperianze z2 rom) working in xperia c3 with this kernel. Can u please give the link to it. Xperia c3 dual do not have any custom rom till date. If the rom given by you works then you will be a God to al the xperia c3 users. I tried to search the rom u mentioned but I found nothing.
Thanks

There is a new (official) bootloader for our phone which allows to boot from a recovery partition (separated from the kernel). The kernel should have been upgraded to 3.10 as well. The problem is that the new feature works only with unlocked bootloaders. Having the ability to boot from the recovery partition simplifies the installation of any ROM into the phone (basically you put the new ROM in a zip file into the SD card and then install it from the recovery partition. No need for a computer with Flashtool). Also flashing a new ROM won't overwrite the recovery, unless it is made to do so.
Hating this .15 compilation so far. Phone is getting warmer and warmer, and moving between apps is tedious...
Great. I can't downgrade the kernel to the JB version, so no more rooting (locked bootloader). I get this error message in Flashtool:
Code:
ERROR - Processing of loader.sin finished with errors
Is it something wrong with my setup or Sony just screwed us up on purpose?

Never mind. I see now that there is the option with a full FTF. Crap, I must download the full JB ROM again.

Upgrading Xperia Z5 Dual from 32.1.A.1.185 to 32.2.A.0.224 without loosing ROOT?

This week sony release the new upgrade build for MarshMallow 32.2.A.0.224. I am currently using build 32.1.A.1.185 with ROOT ACCESS which I did using this ROOTING GUIDE for XPERIA Z5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/guide-rooting-unlocking-bootloader-t3354307
I have read here in on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/root-partially-upgrade-to-32-2-0-224-t3391235 , that one of the guys upgraded to this new build without loosing ROOT ACCESS to his Z5. All I wanted to ask should I continue like him Upgrading from my PC/PHONE to the new build without loosing root access or is there going to be some long lengthy UPGRADING GUIDE for this new Z5 Build.?:silly::crying::cyclops:
It's easy. Why don't you just flash your Firmware and your Kernel with Recovery again and install SuperSu again? Or you might try FlashFire by Chainfire

But what do you mean by Flashing and kernel with Recovery?:crying::silly: I mean I know about Flashing and all this recovery stuff. But please can you elaborate further on what you said ? I will be thankful to you
Well, you do almost exactly the same as in the guide, but you leave out the drm backup Part (not the restore part) and you dont use the firmware version in your guide, you use the newest one avaliable which you can download with xperifirm

Ahan .. Got it .... :good::silly: .. Did you try this method? Maybe the newer build might have some kind of security feature that this old guide will fail to address and thus ending up with NON-ROOTED Upgraded MarshMallow. I am optimistic about the return of Sony' STAMINA MODE. Thats why I want to upgrada ASAP because this current DOZE MODE of MM itself is sucker and doesnt deliver as it is advertised
I think what ali112 said makes sense, the only question I have is wouldn't we require an updated version of the kernel too?
This hasn't been updated yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-twrp3-0-z5-adv-stock-kernel-2016-03-t3333829
And from what I see, this one had a SIM detection error (haven't tried it myself): http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/32-2-0-224-ftf-rootable-kernel-t3391071/page4

It's easy to upgrade, download the latest . ftf extract the kernel and prepair it as before, flash the new .ftf with flashtool without wiping any, then flash the new prepaired kernel with fastboot.
This worked for me

Yes, MKL is right. Mantis is right. I havent read the whole guide, I thought it includes the extraction of the kernel and patching it. Alternatively you could use AndroPlus Kernel v31 or higher

just incase, if device goes in to bootloops or softbricks
holding power+volumup for 15 seconds will make the device vibrate THRICE , and on second vibration. releasing fingers IMMEDIATELY will switchoff the device for you to connect in flashmode/fastboot mode to flash the roms/kernels again

if you are installing phh superuser then
1. flash superuser-r259.zip from twrp
2. boot and install phh_superuser...apk
then reboot.
however i am personally using superSU. since on phh_superuser i was unable to give /system RW access
Just unable to boot into TWRP recovery. It stuck on splash screen and the LED is yellow.I tried the rootkernel in this thread too:https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-premium/general/firmware-32-3-0-372-certified-android-7-t3537948
and got same problem. My device is z5p dual,E6883,I have already install the 32.4.A.0.160 firmare downloaded from xperifirm.Root access and DRM fix works perfectly, the only problem is that I cannot boot into TWRP.I dont know what's wrong.Any advice please?
do this kernel support SafetyNet and magisk?
Hi!
I don't understand this, if the kernel has the drm fix, is necessary downgrade the phone and backup the original drm? Or can I install this kernel, twrp and root directly the stock 7.1.1 version?

Root Xperia Xa nougat (. 131)

You can't. We have to wait for Sony to release the open source archive for the Xperia XA and XA Ultra. After we have the archive, we can build the kernel which enables flashing the recovery. You can check when the archive will be uploaded here.
@davixdevelop,
absolutley nonsense.
@Chaminxa,
downgrade with flashtool to mm,
save your ta,
open your bootloader,
update your device to nougat with flashtool,
flash twrp,
flash kernel,
flash supersu.zip &
done.
you can mod your kernel by yourself,
the only things you need is
this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/poc-real-trim-instead-drm-fix-t3552893 ,
your ta.img backup & your kernel.sin

Absolutely nonsense? Say that to the countless people before me, who said the same thing. And your method only works if you made a backup of the TA partition, which I'm sure a lot of people didn't do, as the only widely known tool to do that, worked based on a exploit which was patched.
And before you go out, calling people "absolutely nonsense", you got to understand that not everyone knows everything. That's why forums like this exist, to share knowledge and experience.
not everybody knows everything, is right.
this is why i've appealed to the coarse approach & to the tool
but to say directly, you can't, is in my eyes nonsense

Well, for the version 33.2.B.4.70 it took them 13 days to release the archive after the version 33.2.B.4.70 was released for the first carrier on 21.2.2017.
Open source archive has been released...
Now we can root. Yeahh.

Mediatek devices have different partition table. Does ta_poc support that?
TA partition is mounted at "/dev/block/platform/mtk-msdc.0/11230000.msdc0/by-name/ta"

XA and Ultra aren't some Sony devices? If this is the case, Xperia X and Z lines are not some Sony devices too but Qualcomm TA and security process are same as Flagship devices but the ta_poc only need to be ported on XA (and XA1). You can look at the ramdisk in the boot.img to understand

Now that Sony released the source code for 33.3.A.0.131, what is the next step for rooting Nougat?
I'm not an expert, sorry if this is a noob question:
If I understand correctly, we would need a boot.img (from these sources), a recovery like TWRP, and the SuperSU binary right?
So the only thing missing is the boot.img?

I know the guide, my question was if the only thing missing is the boot.img which contains the kernel
I was planning to try to build it myself.

Nothing is missing. If your real question is "What I need if I want to make all files alone?"
The answer is:
-the kernel sources,
-a stock boot,
-a TWRP to port or "device tree" sources to build it
-SuperSu or Magisk
-a computer with a Linux OS

Oh sorry, my fault, I didn't notice you already uploaded a boot.img for Nougat on a separate thread
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
