Hello XDA
So, I bought an LG V10 at&t factory unlocked phone from ebay.com and the most common issue started.
YES, THE BOOTLOOP
So, I tried to fix the issue by myself and it worked for 2 days.
The issue came back again. So I tried to fix it again and this time, while cleaning the motherboard with a soft cotton bud, a microchip broke and came off with the bud.
I spoke to the LG REPAIR CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM and was advised to send the phone back to u.s for the repair. i mentioned that I damaged the motherboard while cleaning.
My question is, however, they are gonna replace the defective bootlooping motherboard.. will they charge me because of the damage caused by me?
my phone is already out of warranty
any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

hey guys,
i went to the warranty center today to get my cappy swapped. Bought this phone when it first came out. After five random shutdowns in 2 days, i went to the warranty center to get it replaced. i told them that i was experiencing MANY random shutdowns and the GPS problems and they flat out rejected me saying that if they can't repeat it than i can't get it swapped. I got home and just my luck, it rebooted again. is there anyway to force that "! android" screen? Im betting my money that if i could get that to happen i could go there and demand a replacement. A fast answer would be appreciated.
btw, my phones not rooted, and if possible, i would like to keep it that way (ironically, for warranty purposes)
You could use odin to flash stock and pull the plug in the middle. I can confirm that it can produce the result you seek! I dropped mine in the middle of a flash and boom.

They can't reject your request for a replacement it is under the warranty and whatever you find defective in the phone you have the right to replace it. It's not like they are giving you a brand new phone. Of course they cannot reproduce the problem because it happens randomly. If I wore you I would call the customer service and complain about what happen I bet they will give you something for your trouble because you and ATT know that the shut down and the gps issue is widely known.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Hey guys,
Couple of weeks back, my Nexus died one me (after a few days of power button problems). I was hoping it was just the button circuits that had gone, but after speaking to a few local repair guys, apparently the motherboard is busted. I'm using an i9020T in India (only the i9023 parts are available here), and I'm not sure how financially viable it would be to send the handset back to America to get it repaired.
Any suggestions on what to do? Does anyone have a spare motherboard that I can buy? or is there any way to repurpose the parts and use them for something else.
Its only 13 months old, and everything else is in perfect condition, and I would feel really bad to throw it away as it is.
Any suggestions?

Same thing happened to me and they ordered a motherboard from banglore or something just ask the samsung authorized repair shops.
Was yours the i9020t or the i9023? I asked samsung repair here, and they said they won't repair the phone here. It needs to be sent back to america...
I actually just got my i9020T back a couple days ago from Square Trade for the exact same problem (good thing I got Square Trade). Power button stopped working, but the phone never stopped. When I got the phone back they said they had to replace the motherboard because it was bad.
The repair shop that Square Trade sent my Nexus S to is called CF Repair http://www.cfrepaircenter.com/ -you might want to give them a call or e-mail them to see if they can send you a motherboard or at least see what their advice to you is

Hi Nikhil,
Any updates on this? I have the 9023, and pretty much the same problem. Power button problems, and then a dead set after a week. The service centre is quoting INR 9k for the motherboard replacement, damn!
Sigh, would hate to bury this.

Exact same thing happened with my 9023. Ya the service center quotes INR 8K to replace motherboard. Did you get it fixed? Shame that this phone just lasted for 16-17 months.
Hi, I also need a replacement motherboard.. any hints on where to order a new one?
Thanks!
Nothing yet

Mine's still lying unnoticed. The number of people with the same issue is disturbing. Any leads?
My power button is starting to fail on me today, does it mean my motherboard is somehow getting messed up too?
I have a nexus 5 rooted with stock rom and kernel and stock recovery+ xposed+GravityBox and some other xposed modules.
this happened sunday and again today.
I unlocked the screen and then the screen looked like that:
even on reboot the screen still was with the pixel snow
and after a few minutes of locking and unlocking repeatedly the screen turned OK again.
couldn't find a lot of information online.
does anyone knows why has this happened?
has someone experienced this kind of failure?
any advice?
thanks.
It's a hardware failure. Most probably the screen or the Flex cable went bad. It can only be solved by replacing it.
Definitely a hardware fault.... Had exactly the same screen on my n86 when the repair guyz told me that flex cable was damaged...
thanks..
the problem is I bought the phone on ebay and had it sent to my uncle who was in the states for a business trip and then he brought it to me when he finished his trip.
I'm not from the US so I don't know who should I complain to :\
sending it back to the US and **** will take a lot of time and probably money

Totally depends on the device's IMEI. If the IMEI if not of the country you're residing in, warranty goes out of the window. In any case, you need to send it in to get it fixed whether it's under warranty or not.
Good Luck :good:

Hi
Last week I had the problem with my Nexus 5 constantly rebooting on the "Google" logo.
I tried to find a way repairing the phone as I need the data I have on it. But I bought the phone on the Play Store and the LG warranty has ended because I had this phone since it came out.
So, I called Google and now a refurbished Nexus 5 is on it's way, and I have to send them back my phone that doesn't works. Now I need your help please, I want to know how can I recover the data on my older phone (I need to perform a nandroid, but the phone would last only 1 second inside the bootloader).
I thought swapping motherboards could work, but there's many things:
1- Am I going to have any problems with the IMEI ?
2- Does a Nexus 5 without it's adhesive in the inside at the bottom means "warranty void" to them ?
3- It is better to swap motherboards and make a nandroid then putting back my motherboard on the broken phone or just swapping motherboards and keeping my motherboard in the new phone ?
Thank you for helping me. Don't hesitate to answer me more information if you need or if my english is too bad.
As soon as you open the phone warranty is void. You most likely have a stuck power button on the problem phone. Try mashing the crap out of it for a minute or two. If you can get it unstuck your problem is solved.
Thanks for answering
I already tried to hit the power button for a long time, then hard enough to try unstucking it. I even broke the thin piece of plastic below the sim tray. But I did this before I realized the phone wouldn't try to start at all if it wasn't connected to the AC adapter. Then I saw a post from someone on reddit having the exact same issue, who replaced a defective part (he called this an integrated circuit) and has his phone working now.

I know this thread is a little aged, however I am starting to have similar issues and I also had the Nexus 5 since launch. How did you get a replacement out of warranty?
Hello Everyone, I am Extremely new to posting on XDA so I am not sure if there is a standard or not. Basically The Problem I am having is that the Screen randomly turns black and does not turn back on unless connected to the charger for about a minute. I know that the phone does not die as both the digitizer and speaker continue to function. I have Tried:
-Software Initialization in SmartSwitch
-Factory Reset in Settings
-Factory Reset through Recovery Menu
-Odin reset Image 5.1.1 and 6.0.1
I also can not turn it into the Samsung Service Center as I already replaced the back of the phone in attempt to reseat the lcd/digitizer cable. If Anyone has any experience or insight into this I would fully Appreciate it. Thank You.

Does your phone function 100% as designed (i.e. are you able to use your phone) while it is turned on or does your phone gets frozen?
Is your phone still under warranty? If your phone is still under warrant call or online chat with support and get a shipping label and send it for repairs. There is no need to inform the support about what happen to your phone before. If support determines that your warranty is void they will provide a quote to repair your phone. Also you can dispute the claim that your warranty is void. If you decide not to repair the phone they will ship it back to you for free. So you have nothing to lose but a lot to gain by send your phone for repairs under warrant.
I observe that many members post questions but seems to bee too busy don't care to provide an update in this forum once the issue is resolved. Hence kindly update us of your progress as it will expand our collective knowledge.
This seems to be a common problem and it a known main board defect. I have a similar issue and I have to send for repair after I return to the US from my vacation.

Okay so I retried updating it without a reset within smartswitch and so far it hasn't turned off. Also If I did want to Ship the Phone, Will they accept warranty if there is a small crack in the bottom right of the back glass. BTW Thanks you for the reply.

In my opinion that should not void warranty (not a water damage - you could always claim that you're phone fell).
As I said if the repairs are not covered under warranty they will give you a ridiculousness high quote to repair it out of warranty and you could decline and they will ship it back to you at no cost to you. So on the downside you have nothing to lose and you will get back your phone as is but on the upside you might get lucky and get it fixed for fee

Update(June 21, 2016)- Samsung Gave a Free Label For UPS 2nd Day Air A.M. The service center they are shipping it to is only about 15 minutes away, but I am just going to utilize the label.

Ok so they had my phone since Friday, but said they received it Monday. I found out today that the back glass did cause it to not be in warranty. Fortunately, they have already sent it back to me and it should be back tomorrow. Hopefully they tried some software trick and it fixed it. Fingers crossed!
Ok so They gave me a free box with some packaging(samsung). Looks like they didn't even touch the phone as it was not factory reset.
