33.3.A.0.131 was released on two carriers two minutes ago. Is this the improved / fixed Nougat? It's the same build number as the previous broken Nougat release (33.3.A.0.127) except for the 131.
I think this is Nougat! Since I posted the number of releases seems to be increasing by the minute!

Yes,the battery life is worse than before. I noticed that now, with Nougat, when I see videos from the internet (Firefox), the cellphone becomes hot, and the battery level decreases rapidly.
Poor Signal/Wifi
Ever since I updated my XA the signal and Wifi has become non existent in certain places!! I used to get great signal at work even on very poor Wifi but now it just says no connection even when I turn Wifi off and try to use mobile data! What the hell do I pay my bill for? To not use it?

I don't know how the battery life has been before Nougat as I got this phone today from sale after breaking my old one. This brand new XA has still 57 % of juice left and the screen has been on for 3 hours and 40 minutes. That includes installing apps, surfing the net and trying some features. I'd say that not bad for a 2300 mAh battery

I had to come back to MM (the slim one), and now with root and xposed framework with gravity box installed, this telephone is really fast and the battery life is good too, and I have all the features that I need. I'm happy for you if you are satisfied

Is stamina mode on and set up properly, is background data disabled. Auto sync, location in GPS instead of battery saving ect are all things that will drain battery try doing a factory reset or software repair both can work wonders when you have problems. It's more likely one or a combination of the above and to much running in the background

Tried factory reset and checked all of the above settings things seem a bit better now. Meanwhile checked in Sony forums, there seems to be a WiFi bug which is causing this. Someone from Sony has also acknowledged this. Hopefully this will be resolved in a software update.

Yeah I Saw that gonna be fixed in a update, wifi always scanning needs to be turned off till then, how are you finding the xa apart from that seriously looking at replacing my M2 with one in a couple of weeks I just hope it doesn't get left behind being a mediatek powered Xperia if I get one.

The overall performance is above average given the near stock Xperia UI. Maybe its not as good as SD 650, 615 series, but it still is manageable. Few sour points like free space is very less, 2GB RAM(but RAM management is pretty good), battery life and lots of bloat in my region atleast. The camera and the display are the plus points. Even though it has a 720p, colours are more vivid and sharper than most phones. The brightness levels too can move from very low to very bright. The design feels premium too with the edge to edge screen. Finding a tempered glass to cover the entire screen edge to edge is bit difficult though. I would suggest go for XA Ultra if possible.

My network only do the x,xa,m4,z5,z5c and z3 i was going to get the x but even on a contract they want to much a month and expect me to pay towards the device(not gonna happen) which leaves the xa as this would be a free device or a honour 7 also free which looks good but I don't like the ui and no app drawer and the xa spanks it in antutu benchmarks and I'm a Sony fan anyway just gonna take some getting used to not having root as I refuse to unlock the Bootloader on a Xperia device and lose all the things you buy a Xperia for to root it. Next two weeks can't go fast enough

Agreed. Its best to stay away from Honor. Here in my country XA Ultra is not even available and Xperia X with inferior specs is more expensive than the Z5. Certainly this is what's wrong with them. They are talking about de-focusing from certain markets. Don't really know where their focus is. Hope they get things sorted out. Their design is just so good. Its so ironical.
I wait for an update to fix the problem !

Yes I have already done this. WiFi is still draining the battery but it's weird the battery is getting better day by day.
Its lasting for more than 24hrs with moderate use now with around 4hours of SOT. The only difference was that I have inserted sim cards. Previously there were no sim cards. Could that be the reason behind the drain?

It probably didn't help the situation having no sim card inserted. The more you use it and charge and discharge the battery the better it will get it may take a week or could take a few weeks to reach its maximum screen time ect. 4hrs sot ain't to bad for a device twice as powerful as the m2 with the same size battery more or less. I usually get between 4.5-6hrs sot depending on how I use it on my m2 I'll be expecting at least 4hrs sot when I get mine on a stock device that is. More than that on a rooted device if root is available that is. I looking forward to getting this device to be honest even if it is a mediatek powered Xperia

Yes the battery has settled after a couple of discharge and charging cycles. :good:
Yet the whole threat is useless. You cant change how the battery / OS is acting, WITHOUT unlock and root access even new custom rom.I lost like 2-3 days in searching for solution of my problem , to find working guide to unlck the bootloader.
The only possible method to save your battery is by using GREENIFY. Using it on my htc phone for like 3 years, with personal score of 30+ days without recharge (STANDBY). Greenify works on root device, that cant happen on this phone ,yet.
PS: i've used some tools like - http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/imei-verification/1d2ac140b78501316d82b5e787350b76/, Flashtool, without luck.

Utter rubbish, and this device is still to new development takes time and someone who knows how to build working recovery ect. If this device has drm-verity which i do believe all new Xperia device's have since z3+/z5 locked Bootloader root will not be possible unfortunately. I'll know abit more when I get mine next week hop, my current M2 device is heavily modified but it doesn't look good for locked Bootloader root from now on.
I am starting to think that there are some other issues here other than wifi. I think the phone struggles to hold/find signal as my cell standby usage seems really high to me. I've noticed that when at home and the phone is on wifi my battery seems to last for ages. Its the second highest user over the screen.

My battery hardly reaches 3 hours onscreen, normally just more than 2 hours with very little usage, just facebook and around 15 minutes of boom beach over wifi. Even when I've already turned off the wifi scanning it still drains a lot idling. So I don't think turning off wifi scanning is the proper solution to this at all.
And yeah I think hpsauce37 has a point since I've been experiencing really weak mobile signal that leads to disconnecting my call automatically sometimes. And the mobile signal indicator just stands there at 2 bars at the same spot where my Xperia P shows a full bar.

U got 2 options to dissable WIFI scan.Look at the settings.
just to share, by disabling scanning wifi the device still scans for wifi when i switched off the wifi (i know it is a bug. im running build .35)
however, i have reduced the battery drain by 30%
-uninstall facebook (which is 99% running in the background)
-activate stamina mode (always on)
-switch off location service
Anyone notice a significant drop in battery life in B360? I was quite happy with the SOT on 317 (just about 5h) and ever since I upgraded to 360 it's a drastic drop. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and how I can fix it.
So if you go to battery management, what's using your battery?

These are my latest statistics of N (B360) before rolling back to MM (B162). Something that caught my attention is the average estimates for screen on and screen off time. I got less screen off time with N than with MM but more screen on time. I think my VPN app might be the culprit for the lost of screen off time compared with 18-24hrs I was getting with MM, but can't tell for sure until I replicate the same use under MM.
So if I were to use my phone at the end of the day, after having it on standby at work, I'll probably have 3hrs of SOT before the phone goes into cardiac arrest. But my story is the opposite, I use it a lot at work and stop using it when I'm at home.

Gsam says COMBINED APP CPU. Everything's set up exactly the same as it was on 317. I used to get through the day with my moderate use with ~40% left. Now I have to charge in the afternoon. Bit annoying. Would factory reset help? I never actually did it after upgrading.

A week ago went back to MM (B162) and here are my latest battery stats. Total used time is better in MM than in N without question. So in conclusion, N is less battery efficient than MM. I just hope Huawei has this polished before February's update. Fingers crossed. :fingers-crossed:
First and second screen shots are MM.
Third and fourth are N.

So I actually rolled back my phone to 162, and then used the Charles method to go to 360 again (I previously used the dload method to update). Performed a factory reset after updating this time, and now my battery life is insane! Im at over 4h SOT with 52% battery left currently.
So for people that are experiencing battery drain on 360, perhaps try updating using Charles or officially instead of using dload, and do a factory reset after.

same here with the battery drain. I update with hicare app via officially ota. I'm thinking to rollback to emui 4.1. Android OS is eating my battery on standby
EDIT: it seems i've solved with a rollback to emui 4.1 and then reupgrade via ota!
I have run out of ideas. I have uninstalled apps, repaired the OS, done everything I can think of. The battery life of this phone is the worst I have ever experienced in a phone. I can barely get a day out of this phone (2hrs 30 SOT). I'm at my wit's end. Is it just my device or do others experience this. And does anyone have any idea what I can do?
Unfortunately Sony doesn't pack much into their batteries and software does take a toll. I had a Huawei P9 and P10 Plus and I would get a solid day of heavy use, with my XZ I can't make it to early evening with comparable usage. I prefer Sony handsets to all others, but I have to agree with you in that battery life is crap.

Yeah, but it wasn't always like this. I used the Z2 and it had great battery life and I also used a Z3 dual and it's battery life was even better. Compared to those 2, the XZ's battery life is shockingly bad. I used to get 6-7 hrs SOT on my Z3, 2 hrs is a struggle on this phone.

Make sure you do a factory reset after the update.
You will thank me for it later.
Also if you want to seriously see major peeofmance and battery improvement, you need to root and installtlal duality dra4.
People are achieving 5-10hour sot with 24-48hours usage.
The experience in this rom is night and day compared to stock.
Stock ROM is complete turd.
I'm giving you this information from my first hand experience. You need this rom, else you will continue to be disappointed I know this.
Why do I know, well I've been with Sony for 5years and haven't rooted for the passed 2 years until now. It's a must to root this phone else it's merely mediocre.
However the choice is yours

+1 ...man this is all thru... i have same xperience with Sony devices...i had xperia z,z2,z5 and now xz and since z5 everything is going down...less battery life...same speakers since z2...very bad loudspeaker its so low that even a low budget phone beats it.. also OVERHEATING badlly...but the design of the phone is way better then any competition atleast for me...and also xz is very durbale phone it fellt 5 times already on concrete also 2 times fell directly on the screen and nothing is broken yet...screen has only 2 little scratches and of course all corners are beaten up a little bit hehehe over all very durable trust me...this new plastic that they use is so good...and at the end i really must say that rootin is a must for this phone cuz since i got it i had constant problems with stock rom, specialy with ram usage it gave me lags all the time but now i use custom rom and xz is flying like it should.

according to the manual it shows you the utilization percentage of the phone and when you click on it it does a quick performance clean up to improve it.
It's on >50% most of the time, with no apps, it varies if you have empty space, whatever, it's nothing useful really.
Not sure why you'd base any conclusion on this.
mine has always been below 50% until the Oreo update. anyhow phone is working as usual but it is lasting a little less than it used to on battery
That's not a performance index, also see this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/mate-9-graphics-benchmarks-results-oreo-t3764890

Well... I really enjoy the protect battery feature because i can charge my phone overnight without worrying about damaging the battery. Also , i experienced a bit better battery life .. even if im starting my day with 85%. The extra 4gb vram makes a difference for me as the phone feels snappier. For the rest , no issues at all!
A bit too early for me to review it but it seems just prettier in respect to design, i have 6gb ram and noticed a little more ram usage ( around 500 mb more ) and in the following days i will be able to notice battery usage thanks to "Ampere" app too. A shame that "protect battery" feature can only set limit to 85 instead of giving users choice
So these are some little things i noticed so far.
- battery lowest drain dropped to 50mA from ~70mA, still not perfect but an improvement.
-ui colors are not set automatically and there is no option to do it but to change it manually, this is an android12 related feature and hope it will improve in the future.
-clock widget changes theme without considering your theme setting, bad for aesthetics.
-Not a good text color management on homescreen, using light or dark wallpapers can still lead to notification bar text being unreadable.
-when you open an app and its logo appears for fractions of second background is white even when in dark mode.

Well... I really enjoy the protect battery feature because i can charge my phone overnight without worrying about damaging the battery.

Long overdue. But that's the one thing I really miss without root (battery limiter).
I wish they gave us more options than just 85%. Running a few tests, this can use roughly 35-40% of one cycle if left plugged in all day. That's compared to pre-protect feature where leaving the phone plugged in 3-4 hours (and therefore charging 100% for a few hours) would hit about 90% of one cycle.
However, if you could limit the charge to 55-60% (because I'm usually not away from a charging source for more than a few hours), then the charge cycle would be even further limited to only 10-15% per day. In other words, maybe more than 2X extended battery life as the current 85% option will yield.
Not sure what's up with mine. Not only do I not have the Android 12 update, mine is still on July 1 2021 patch. Phone says it's up to date. I have contacted Samsung 3 times and been told every time that my inqiriy is elevated but they never get back to me! Any suggestions?

No I haven't tried to sideload an update. It's my wife's phone so I don't want to mess with it cuz if I brick it I'd be sleeping alone. But I shouldn't have to sideload anyway, it should be receiving updates and it's not and Samsung has been less than helpful.
The other reason is that I no longer have a pc, only a chromebook, and running adb from a chromebook is a pain.
