Hey everyone! So my HTC One E8 is rooted and I have flashed exposed in it. It was working fine until last night when I was using built-in onscreen recording. Once I finish the recording, I was expecting captions to be turned off as it always does after recording is finished but the captions still are showing. I have tried turning the captions on and off but that doesn't work either.

So hello, my first thread here and I wasn't expecting it to be a negative one
I have had my Sensation since it was released in the US for T-Mobile. I have been pretty happy with it, takes great pictures, videos, quick processor etc...well after this so called "update", everytime I use the camera or camcorder option, the phone's screen wants to timeout...you know, it dims after whatever time you have preset and then it locks the screen. Well it never did that before when I was taking pictures or videos so if this is a way to "save" battery life, then someone is not thinking before they act. There is nothing more frustrating than taking a video and in the middle of it the screen darkens and 2 seconds later it locks and turns the video off. Sure you can touch the screen with your other hand but: 1) Creates a shakier video trying to touch the screen while you are filming and 2) You don't always have an empty hand...
I really hope there is a fix for this..
Similar issue with camera & camcorder
I am also having a similar issue with the camera & camcorder apps. After performing OTA update, they gave me a black screen. I rebooted to see if that would help, but now the apps just open for a second with a black screen and white icon and then shut down immediately. I'm going to try factory reset and see if it helps. I've read in other forums that it's a bug with the shutter and the phones were returned. Will post my results here.

Well, no dice. After doing factory restore and deleting a bunch of apps I still get the same trouble with the camera/camcorder. I've got insurance on it and an old HTC HD2 (rooted and running Froyo) that I'm becoming very fond of, so I'll be returning this phone but I would like to know what the issue is.
I am sorry you are facing the issue but i just checked and my camera is working fine for me as of now at the OTA update
Hi,
I have a HTC One E8 dual sim. The current firmware is 4.4.2.
I am facing issues with the video camera. Whenever i try to take a video, and click on the video camera button, there is just a blip on the screen but the video capture doesn't start. Even if i press the button again and again, the same thing happens. If i restart my phone, and then try to capture a video, it captures the video fine. But some time after the restart if i again go to the camera and switch to video camera and try to record, nothing happens.
Can anyone help me out with this issue?

Check in the video settings to see where they are being stored. In case its storing on the SD Card, it might be an issue with the card itself
Hi,
It is getting saved in the SD card, but i have recently installed a new SD card and the issue remains the same.
I tried changing the default save location to phone memory, but the issue remains.

Same happened with me after I installed Google now launcher and kept Google now voice detection 'ON' from any screen,I don't know how it affects ,but surprisingly it does, just uninstall latest Google search and see if the video recording works.

Thanks, I had same problem and it started working after I turned off voice detection from any screen.
Hi all,
For some reason (since the last update is guess) for some shots (mainly outdoor) 2 pictures are taken.
I undertstand this is one under and one over exposed picture.
The display says "automatic HDR on - hold camera for shot" or similar.
Now, this is what I want to turn off !!!
I do not want any automatic HDR pictures - I turn it on when I want. By the way, composing a HDR of these 2 shots is kind of useless anyway.
And neither of these are good to keep since one of them is too dark the other is too light.
Any help on this one?
My phone freezes while trying to take a photo. Focus is also not working. The only way to wake it up is to switch off and on the screen by on/off button. Any ideas what is this about? No root, updated to last version...
While recording a video focus is also not wotking.
P.S. Front camera works perfect.
Damn you, I can't post link to video that shows how does it look because I am not a flooder...
OK, phone was returned and received back with camera changed. It was hardware problem. Not at all.
Hi, my zf6 has been showing signs of madness in the last few days. I updated it to the newest version of android 10, and I have been experiencing a bug where the primary (default) camera doesn't work anymore. It doesn't even show anymore as an option in camera app, and weirder thing when I'm using night or video mode camera looks like the picture attached. Ofc I tried clearing cache/restarting multiple times and so on. It worked a few days ago, since primary camera reappeared and worked again, but now it seems unfixable. Any suggestion? Ps. Not rooted, haven't done anything weird to this phone...:crying:

I have had the same problem. I bought a replacement flip camera and I'm trying to fit it. I have problems with the camera motor that I don't know how to separate it from the broken flip camera.
