Automatic HDR on 4.4.2 - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
For some reason (since the last update is guess) for some shots (mainly outdoor) 2 pictures are taken.
I undertstand this is one under and one over exposed picture.
The display says "automatic HDR on - hold camera for shot" or similar.
Now, this is what I want to turn off !!!
I do not want any automatic HDR pictures - I turn it on when I want. By the way, composing a HDR of these 2 shots is kind of useless anyway.
And neither of these are good to keep since one of them is too dark the other is too light.
Any help on this one?

[Q] Pictures blurry, photo taken

Hey everyone,
Just recently, I've been having a problem with blurry pictures because the photo taker assumes that the photo is taken and saved before it is taken.
Previously on roms, once you press the blue button on the camera app, you see the autofocus do its work, and then it stops (which means the photo has been taken).
However, on the ROM I am currently on, it does the autofocus and the still, but takes like 3 seconds after that before the photo is actually taken O.O I'm not sure why, but this is causing a lot of blurry pictures because autofocus doesnt account for the 3 seconds between the focus and the actually photo taken.
Any ideas?
I do not have your phone/brand/rom so I have no experience in your device whatsoever.
However, I think that you are spot on about the autofocus potentially being a cause.
Are you able to disable it or use another camera application that has tap to focus or similar?
Sorry for the late reply.
Using another camera app causes some glitches (parts of the picture cuts off, streaks of white on the sides, etc.). Tap to focus will not help the problem because there is still a gap between when the pic is taken and when it is focused.
Thanks.

[Q] Camera apps could not function properly after first snap.

hello everyone. good day to all of you.
phone: samsung s+ i9001
ROM: CyanogenMod 10 by ivendor - Alpha 6
there's a problem i am facing that is quite troublesome.
forgive me if i could not explain this matter in a clearer manner but i'll try..
after taking the first picture, the picture taken will show (preview? and some apps do ask an option to save or discard it) and usually by clicking the 'back' button, the camera app will go back to its shooting mode to capture another picture.
problem with my camera apps is that after clicking 'back', it will not go back go its shooting mode! instead, it still shows the first picture taken and when i try to tap the screen to focus, it will not focus as the previous picture is still there.
camera apps that i've tried: Camera ZOOM FX, lgCamera, Camera FV-5, and. Pro HDR Camera.
only Fast Burst Camera able to go back to its shooting mode after the first taken picture. but the quality is not as good as the above apps.
help please? and thank you.

[Q] seeking specific camera (and other) functions

hello.
haven't been on this site for quite some time, but i am familiar with using custom roms.
i'm using an htc desire s with android 4.0.4, stock rom from htc site.
there are certain things i like about ICS, and other things that simply boggle me.
i've been considering using a custom rom again, but i was hoping someone could shed some light on specific features/functions.
in other words, i would be changing to a custom rom if one is available that has these features, otherwise i'll just leave it alone.
firstly: the camera.
when trying to take up-close photos (macro), the camera will attempt to focus, will succeed, then quickly snap back to being blurry. this happens less with "auto focus" turned off, but it's still frustrating (i can see the hardware moving the camera focus to where i want it, but i can't keep it there). turning on the Scene called "close up" will allow the hardware to stay in the focused range, where i want it, but it overrides the white balance, such that i can't adjust the white balance any more, and the colour is always -always- different from the colour settings in the "auto" Scene setting. very frustrating indeed.
that's problem one.
but the bigger problem (with the camera) is:
when taking a photo where a flash is required/desired (in low lighting), i have to take many -many- photos before i happen to roll the dice and get one in focus. basically, holding up the camera to the darkened scene, the screen is mostly dark. i can take a photo with the flash, but the camera uses the same moment of flash to implement the focus, which is essentially entirely useless. in other words: dark scene, dark screen, flash ready, click to take a photo, flashtrytofocustakepicture = blurry picture. the picture only turns out well if the focus happens to catch in just the right way at the right time.
in contrast, while the stock camera app behaves this way, when i use google goggles, the camera behaves differently. there is a simple button which turns the led light on and off BEFORE taking a picture, which means the focus can function normally on a fully lit scene and then a picture can be taken, in focus. funny thing about that: the photo result that shows as a preview (immediately after snapping a photo in google goggles) is the desired photo, however it is not the photo that the app recognises nor which is saved on the sd card. anyhow, that's a different issue.
the point is: it seems clear to me that the hardware is capable, and the software is capable, but they have not been married correctly in 4.0.4.
would anyone be able to confirm whether another rom or camera app has the macro and light-before-focus capabilities described above?
i have some other questions about the way text copy and paste is implimented, but i'll just stick with the camera question for now.
thanks in advance for any information.

Is burst mode broken?

Hi everyone,
I'm facing an issue with burst shooting.
When I burst-shoot photos in mid to low light conditions using the HTC stock camera app, I can see that most of the photos (except the first 3-5 photos) are filled with colorful noise all over them...
I'm using an EMEA HTC U11 128GB model with 1.27.401.5 software and camera app v9.20.9740975.
Am I the only one that facing this issue?
Please refer to the attachments to see the problem yourself.
Left image is the third burst-shot and looks OK.
Right image is the fifth burst-shot and looks very grainy (all the burst shots from the 5th and on look like that)
There is nothing wrong with it. Burst mode does not have the noise reduction algorithms which are available in hdr auto mode. Therefore these shots are perfectly normal in bad light conditions. Mine does the same.

When I capture burst shots on the ported google camera app, all photos are looking just fine without all that densed noise so I think you are wrong. You can try it yourself.
Something is very wrong with this feature on stock camera app on my side, I'm sure that it doesn't need to look like that at all.
I see a clear difference between the 3 to 5 first shots and all the rest, it's like they were taken by a different sensor!
I thought you were asking if your phone has a problem or not, so I answered according to what I understood.
It's how the stock camera app is. It needs some updates to fix these issues, there is nothing we can do about it except waiting.
I do believe that google camera is superior to stock app with good settings in almost every condition therefore I use google camera.

Thanks for the clarification.
Meanwhile I will continue to use burst captures only on Google Camera app.
Hope that HTC knows about this issue and trying to fix this as we speak. :fingers-crossed:

How do You Set camera to function on Automatic.?

How do you return the Mate 9 camera settings to what is seen on a new phone? In other words all pictures now are hazy and my lady friend does not know how to get camera back to have camera work on Auto and get clear sharp focused pictures. Since she is 8000 miles away I cannot help her by reading online pdf as there are no examples shown with each of the myriad settings and I think it would be better to let her just shoot in full auto at this time. How do you restore camera to allow best overall images possible?
Open camera, swipe left, scroll to bottom, tap the Restore Defaults button.
Thank you very much she did that. Problem is all pictures are seeming to lack saturation and is that normal for the Mate 9 OOB? Also I was reading that the first thing to do is change resolution to 12M but she told me that there is only 8 M and smaller down to .3M (4 choices) ?
She needs to stop taking selfies
For the back camera you have up to 20M, for the front it's 8M.
When you have selfie mode (front camera mode) on you can only change settings for that mode (though restoring Defaults restore both/all modes' settings)
Thank you but the only use of front camera is video chat but she restored defaults so it should be fine now ???
