It appears to me that I have some underlying software quirks. I installed malysk rom, viper4android and then deleted viper4android. Then install factory rom but I think viper4android settings are stuck on somewhere since the audio seems very bass heavy on flat EQ setting and if I turn up volume the speakers crackle from too much bass. Also the numeric indicator for volume is the same colour as background no matter what rom I install.
I've also noticed that when I do fresh rom install it doesn't go through the "optimizing android applications" on first boot after install
I've booted in to recovery, delete cache, wipe data/factory reset multiple time but nothing changes.
Is there a way to completely wipe the OS from the system and start from scratch?
MTCD PX5 KGL unit
or maybe its all in my head but I'm pretty sure I didn't have these problems when i initially installed the unit...I'm pretty sure its stemming from when I did a rom update and forgot to check wipe data before installing
thanks in advance

I have tried everything I could... after installing Advanced Task Manager Pro my device will no longer keep user data. What i mean by this, I remove advanced task manager and a few other apps and add a few new ones after a reboot its like nothing ever happened, all the apps ive just uninstalled are back and the apps i just installed are gone. Ive tried every method of factory data reset i could google, hardware based software based and everything in between, but alas after every reboot it connects to my home network which is WPA-PSK2 protected and after unlock I am greeted by the same homescreen once again as if i have done nothing. The only modifications i have made is the bootloader unlock "fastboot oem unlock". After reading a little more i think it could be because of wiping dalvik cache but i cannot be sure. My device is the WiFi only Xoom HWI69.

I tried flashing cwm 3.0.2.8 and everything appeared to run just fine, I let my xoom reboot then adb reboot recovery which was still the stock recovery... i did notice an option in the recovery about applying an update from the sd card, could i install 3.0.1 that way in hopes to wipe my device?
I just deleted ten gigs of music from my xoom and rebooted, all the music is back...
did you ever resolve you issue? I am having a similar problem and I believe the root of my problem is a cache file for youtube
Being new to custom ROMs, I finally installed ARHD last week.
Twice, I have the issue where I can't get my screen to turn on. In the last incident: I received a text, saw the blinking LED, and pressed the power button -- the phone doesn't respond at all, except the LED keeps blinking. I have to pull my battery out and restart the phone.
This isn't related to the camera issue. (I'm not using my camera at all.)
This occured once on each kernel, faux 0.2.4 and 0.2.3.
Any help is appreciated. (Did my best to search!)

Hi,
I am running 0.2.4.r as well ,but I have never encountered any such problem.
Nor have read about any such problem for 3.6.5.
Can I ask if you wiped your cache partition and dalvik ,before your kernel installation?
Also, was your 3.6.5 installation a clean install i.e. did you super wipe?
Also,if it does lock up,you can just press volume up and down + power button.
That saves having to pull the battery.

Yes, I wiped cache and dalvik prior and after the kernel installation.
Yes, I ran the super wipe script prior to the ROM installation.
Tried to follow everything to the letter.
Thanks for the tip. I will try that if it occurs again!
A little off topic, but what exactly is stored in the cache/dalvik? When should we wipe it, whenever we install something via recovery? (e.g. Kernels, APM, CRT Animation, etc.)

Hi,
Dalvik cache is a program cache area for the program dalvik. Dalvik is a java based virtual machine that is the basis for running your programs (the ones that have the .apk extension). In order to make access times faster (because there's not JIT (just in time) compiler installed by default), the dalvik-cache is the result of dalvik doing a optimization of the running program. Sounds confusing. It's similar to the prefetch files in Windows.
Yes,wipe it before installing Kernels, APM, CRT Animation, etc.
Currently running CyberGR v3 ICS rom and noticed a weird behavior on my phone.
Search button keeps flickering by itself opening the 'Complete actions with' option on the screen. It keeps happening until screen is completely unresponsive and I have to lock/unlock the phone for it to work. Eventually it would happen again.
I have cleared cache, dalvik, factory reset, fixing permissions, re-applied rom from scratch (full format of system, data, cache, boot) and even changed the kernel from original GLADOS 2.7 to Matrix 14.0 (have not tried the latest ones).
Any ideas on why this happens? Hopefully I can resolve this since I really like this ROM.....heeeelp
Update: I got the issue resolved by flashing the lastest Radio I9020AUCKF1.
Hi, everyone, I have a Nexus S and I am new to roms and stuff and by far I was using the latest Cyanogen mod, because the installation was easy. I decided to try this custom rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2410844. And after a lot of reading, I figured that i have to install the latest Clockwork mod, so I did, then transferred the rom .zip file to my storage, rebooted in recovery and installed the zip. Then I rebooted again and all that is happening now is - an android text with highlights moving over it is standing in the center of my screen, but nothing loads... I waited like 30-40 minutes but it just stays there... Can somebody tell me if I was wrong with the instructions somewhere or this can be a problem with my device? Thanks a lot and sorry for posting a new thread about it, since I'm new, I'm not allowed to ask in the Developers Section.
I didn't Wipe/Factory reset. Could this be the problem?
It seems you got stuck in the boot loop itself.!! From next time on when you are about to install a new rom, make sure you do a full factory/data wipe.!!
Now that you are stuck in boot loop, just remove batter, insert it, hold simultaneously your volume up+power buttons. From the menu choose recovery. Then
1.data wipe/factory reset.
2. Wipe cache.
3. mounts and storage --> format system.!!
Now you are good to go. Make a clean install of your new ROM. I guess your device by now should work normally.!!
Sent from my Nexus S
Hit thanks if I helped you.!!
Yes, I already did it, right after I asked, with the factory/reset function (I thought this is the problem, so I did it), everithing is ok now, but thanks for answering!
It's ok for the admins to delete that thread, thanks!
I also have a problem with same ROM.
Every once and a while after making a call or doing anything with Dialer he freezes and after that system just reboots. I've installed last version of CWM, updated SuperSu, installed Pa full version of GAPPS.
I tried to remove Uc browser from my system. For some reason when i uninstalled it it fully crashed my system. Previously i had inadvertantly removed some of the cached files in its internal app folder. I tried then to uninstall it by using an app called Root Application. Still did not work. So tried reinstalling by directly going to website to get the apk file. Reinstalling was success but uninstalling or launching the app still crashed my system. Even going to app manager under setting to force stop it would cause system reboot.
Then i found out that i could not even go into recovery mode of twrp v.3.0.2-1. So i downloaded latest twrp for my p5110 v3.0.3 to try out. It seemed that it has replaced my older version since i could see the new version number but it still would not go into it. Right after i saw the splash screen it would go back to boot.
I tried going to setting and reset my tablet but everything seemed to come right back to original state. Nothing got wiped or cleaned, which i suspected it crashed before even getting to that operation.
Everything else seems to work with the machine. I could uninstall other app. I really do not know how to approach this problem. If i cannot go into recovery mode. What could i possibly do to revive my tablet.
Should i just use odin to flash a stock rom back? Would that wipe out twrp as well?
Please give me some suggestion.
are you going into recovery by holding the power button and volume down just checking
I did some experiments and here what i have found so far.
1. Uninstalling ub browser app will reboot it by any means.
2. I have managed to replace twrp with cwm. When i go and try to reformat /data partition it will reboot it as well. No factory reset can accomplish
3. Bring up application manager and while it computes statistics of memory usage it will reboot it
4. Test memory using emmc brickbug check app says all 16g healthy and problem free and it found no emmc bug saying it is sane
My next trial would be to flash back the stock rom but i am so afraid it will crash it while being flashed given my experience above.
Right now the machine seems to function well in all aspects. I suspect it is infected or some nand flash is damaged but not sure what that would be.
I won my battle. Here is what i have done. Revert to stock kernel to wipe over old system partition then whereupon i was able to factory reset the data partition. I suspect oc browser is playing havoc here since i had no way to eliminate it before i did all that. I advise against deploying it on your android
