Should I trade my Note 5 for this? - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Have the note 5. Should i trade it with the note edge??
The only thing i hate about note 5 is micro sd card expansion. Although note 5 is great phone and it has thin bezels the lack of sd card still kills me. I have a rom with full samsung s8 support.
How is battery life on the note edge compared to note 5? Are the edge features really usefull?

The Note Edge is great, but now at the end of the software update cycle (though personally I find its LP themed software more functional than the new one in many cases).
If you're happy with the Note 5 except for the sd card, why not look at the Dual Sim version? The second slot can be used as an sd card slot.

I am not much annoyed about sd slot,
But some times i tink more storage is better.
I have no lag or battery problems with the note 5.
The only thing bothers me about note edge that i heard reports about such issues. I want a confirmation about this.

Honestly, the note edge is coming close to the end of its cycle (in terms of updates), while the Note 5 should be on android 7. Also if you have the Canadian version of the Note edge (Sm-915w8), it's just terrible in terms of getting updates and security patches. Hope this helps you out:good:

[Q] Which one to choose Note 3 or Nexus 5 ?

Hi Guys,
Need your advice, my orginal Note is having issues amd I think its time to let it go.
but I am confused abt the replacement device.
I prefer to stick with Android due to customizations and flexibility it offers.
Nexus 5 :
Pros:
Price = 400 USD
GOOGLE device so updates always available
Cons:
Non removable Battery.
No expandabable memory
Screen small as compared to Note 3.
Samsung Note 3:
Pros:
Better Camera
Big screen size
S Pen and Suite
Removable Battery.
Expandabable memory
Cons:
Double the Price of nexus 5 : USD 800
and after the issues I had with Original Note, I am sort of scared of Note 3.
Android updates always delayed
I suggest the Nexus 5.
"Size isnt everything."
I suggest Note 3, S-Pen, bigger screen...

They're both good, but in my opinion The note 3 is a bit overpriced like all Samsung phones.
The nexus 5 is a all days phone, good specs and Cheap for a nowadays phone (E.G Iphone 5S ~$800 Samsung GS4 ~$600 LG G2 ~$600)
The note 3 is a little bit overpriced in my opinion though since the specs are not that better than the nexus 5, The only thing that it has is Expandable memory and Better camera.
No competition.. go for the nexus 5..the screen is brilliant.. awesome gaming performance.. and yes.. you will have both official and unofficial ROM support for the next 3 years atleast.
Note 3, because it's a more common and premium device, you would get a lot of options on custom roms compared to nexus 5..
Though, I would say nexus is a great phone too. And the Roms availability is not bad for nexus !
Ofcourse, Nexus.. brilliant performance.. brilliant screen..
You will not have to wait for updates.. for so long & almost half price of note 3..

This is obviously not true, The nexus series has got much more option on C-Roms than the Note 3, since the Nexus Has always the first android , That means the Source code of the nexus 5 becomes earlier available than the Note 3 Code, Which means that the Developers has more time to create a Rom.
Even when you compare the Development Section of the Nexus 5 and the note 3, The nexus 5 has lot more Roms
note 3
I prefer note 3,,,,,,
Im in the same boat.
Gs3 is flakin out on me so im gonna upgrade. I just bought the note 8 about a month ago on the next plan. Having serious buyers remorse now because I would have picked up the Note 3. Im on the fence on either the nexus 5 or the note 3. I love the note 8, being an artist its a great tool but I like the idea of saving the money choosing the nexus . Im also considering the Moto G for price and using it as a phone and using my note 8 as a tab.
Any thoughts?

i have bought a Galaxy s6

Hi Guys
yesterday i buyed a galaxy s6 and not the edge
used my note 3 for almost 2 years and i really liked the note 3
there are some strange options on the galaxy s6
i cant see a optiom to turn on multi screen
and there is no alfabetic option in the app drawer.
beside this everything is very stable and fast the battery charges very fast
Dont expect a huge upgrade from note 3 to galaxy s6
i think the note 5 gonna be a beast!
Beside this i want to thank all devs
for their great roms everyone thank you and see you
at the s6 froums
Bye bye

Your Title should be I have bought a Galaxy S6
The International version of the S6 and S6 Edge don't have an alphabetic sorting option, the USA variants do. You can use Apex or Nova for the customisation options.
Most Note users wouldn't downgrade to the S-Line anyway. The S6 is aimed at Non-Samsung users, not us. We're using a Note for the Spen and the big screen. Neither of which can be found on the S6.

Exactly this. I come to the end of my contract and have the option of getting the S6 but the only reason I would get it is to sell it again for nice profit. Note 3 running 5.1 (Temasek) is perfect for me... a Note 5 Edge might tempt me away.
Honestly, a qHD display is hardly noticeable on the S6, plus battery life would suck....
basicly

Umm, no. The S7 will be a small Note 5. Not the other way around.
Don't really expect great upgrade to Note 5....
Coz from my observation: Note 3 is based on S4, only the SoC is different.
Note 4 is based on S5.
From what samdung offer to S6, I don't really expect big thing with Note 5...
Note 3 is more than best in my opinion.
I use the crappy Exynos version, I might buy another Note 3 with the Snapdragon version instead of upgrading to Note 5.
I really hope Samsung keep the expandable storage and removable battery with the Note 5. If not, its no big deal but it would make a lot of difference when it comes to decision between the LG G Note or the Note 5. LG have come a long a way from their older devices....very powerful influence in the mobile tech world, severely underrated.

The Note 4 is reaction to user complaints from the backslash they got from the ugly S5. Note 4 - metal, not polycarbonate. The S6 is based on the Note 4, and the Note 3 is way more angular than the S4 to bear any resemblance.
Otherwise, the N9005 is great, Samsung stepped up their SoC game only recently with the last two Exynos processors.

Not the design, I mean the features included like sensors and smart-software....
And by minor upgrade I mean: only screen res and SoC is upgraded, nothing more...

are developers ready for porting note 5 to our beloved note 3 :)

galaxy note 5 confirmed to be announcing in 13 august this year and it will sure having a new interface touchwiz skin of course it will be much better than the s6 many features it will add like
1-enhanced pen applications
2-updated camera application
and many things enhanced but with removing deal breaker features like sd card and also a fixed battery
q1- will u upgrade to note 5 all the way without caring about removing features ?
q2-or you will just find xda note 5 roms and flashed and staying in note 3 ?
i will not update simply because the newer phones dont give me more usability than my note 3. i dont need more power since my note 3 runs pretty fluently with costum rom/kernel and the only things thats get better are the cameras buuuuuuut not as much as they have to make me changing my current phone.
for the rom ports. lets wait and see. devs doing a really awesome job so far porting newer touchwiz versions
Even if i would buy a note 5 i would flash an aosp rom ? So i gonna stick another year with my note 3. Android M will come for sure (cm13)
The deciding factor for me at least will be which battery rumor turns out correct. We still don't know if it's a 3000 mAh or a 4100 mAh unit (we ALL hope it's the latter, I guess ).
If it's a 4100 mAh, with the Exynos 7420 inside the thing will be able to last two days and I'll really consider it.
If the 3000 mAh rumor turns out to be true, well, I'll keep my Note 3 till the Nexus 5 (2015) comes out. There was a leaked AnTuTu bench result which downright smashed everything else on the table which suggests the Snapdragon 820 inside.
So, if I have to have a crappy battery life, I prefer it in pure AOSP package.
Wether I upgrade or not depends on three things:
MicroSD slot
CPU/GPU combo
mAh.
If it comes without a MicroSD, everything else is irrelevant. I will not buy it. I have a 128GB MicroSD that's completely full with films and series.
Spare me the mentions of the cloud, try living next to the border for a while, or use public transport in a mobile deadzone for 6 hours a day, see if you still think the cloud is an option.
And anyone who mentions that the MicroSD is slow, and how 'amazingly fast' internal memory is: It's not meant for apps, you muppet.
If it does come with a MicroSD slot, then an Exynos is still a no-go for me. Ditto for any mAh rating below or on par with the 3200mAh of my Note 3.

God I hope so... Exynos is pure crap wrapped up in a layer of sheer rubbish. Especially the Mali GPU that comes with it.... I will never buy an Exynos device again.
An S820 would be perfect.
But then there's this.... IF this is true, then anyone buying the Note 5 is an idiot, when the Note 4 is a far superior device that is far less expensive.

My bad, I didn't complete my sentences.
The Note 5 will have Exynos only, the monstrous AnTuTu bench had the name Nexus 5 (2015) in it.

Bummer.
I did spot a report on the S820 being tested, though. Note 6, anyone?
It's bad note 5 doesnt had sd card slot and removeable battery :/
I would rather buy saygus v2.... Then note 5 or s6 edge +...... Samsung going down in mobile....
Its either note 6, or no note user further... Looks like samsung took note users for granted.... Let samsung face it.. Bye bye samsung...

Aparently they're also releasing a dualSIM Note 5 where the second SIMslot doubles as a MicroSD slot. (According to Sammobile). And that's just for China.
I'll keep saying it, chances are we'll see a Note5+ with a Snapdragon 820 and MicroSD slot for Europe once the S820 becomes available.

Should I upgrade to Note 5 from Note 4?

I have been using a Note 4 since it was released and I totally love the device. But since the Note 5 arrived, I've felt like upgrading since its the new device in the series.
But I'm having doubts because of the lower battery life non-removable battery and no SD card features. I don't know if there are any other good features which was there in Note 4 but have been removed from Note 5. What do you guys think? Please let me know if any of you have upgraded from Note 4 to 5.

Recommendation for Android phone with microSD card slot and user replaceable battery?

My Galaxy S6 edge is an absolutely terrible phone. The battery is shot because I use it all the time doing Android game development, constantly stressing the GPU, and now I can't replace it! I couldn't install custom ROMs on it either. The "edge" did nothing but distort the screen display.
I'm looking for a plus-sized (should have gotten the larger S6 edge plus to begin with) Android phone with a removable battery and an SD slot. I'm open to older phones. It also HAS to be capable of running custom ROMs (I plan on using Cyanogenmod ROM).
Do you have any suggestions? It's like they don't make good phones anymore -- just like how you can't get a laptop anymore without crappy chiclet keys. Even the Nexus 7 (a bit on the larger side though) doesn't have the SD card slot. Does any good Android phone exist?
Maybe I'm willing to compromise on one or two things and look at the Pixel XL or the Nexus 6P?

Try Lenovo K3 note, it's pretty fast and got lots and lots of custom ROMs to choose from. The Needrom and 4PDA community is pretty active for a 2-year-old mid-range phone. Nougat got successfully ported to this ROM and this is one of the few devices to get that much of active support.
The device has support for micro sd card slot up to 32 gigs and has a removable and replaceable 2900 maH battery.
