Hi Guys,
I´m ( and many PX5 users too very interestest on a tool like "RK3066 Headunit" or "S.D.V.C." (unfortunately Android 4.4 / 5.1.1 only) which enable (GPS-) speed depend volume change for Android 6 / PX5 users.
All tools i´ve tested are not working
Can somebody please programming a SDVC-tool? I (and certainly many others) would donate for it!
A program that can handle input of a basic formula for non linear progression. Something that modifies the volume so the volume does not revert back to the unmodified level when a volume button is pressed. -Thats annoying.
Something like that is also really needed for PX3

You're absolutely right. A disadvantage of the existing px3 tools is, that the volume level jumps back to the level before the volume was changed from sdvc tool. That sucks.
There should be the possibility to change the volume absolute / global / permanently, rather than relative / temporary. The frontpanel volume control / buttons do nothing else.
Better yet, it would be nice for the volume to be integrated with the rest of android so existing SDVC apps work as well as speech recognition. Presently when I say 'OK Google... turn up the volume' some volume setting is changed, but it doesn't actually change the volume through these units
Hello to all, guys I also need to raise and decrease the volume according to the speed! I've tried all the applications on the play store "Gala and Automatik sdvc" but no one works! We need a developer who creates a tool for Px5. We hope someone listen to us.
The developer of GALA has the intention on creating the update for px5, buy he needs the commands for volume up and down that the headunit manages. Anybody?

All need command informations can be found on source code base here: https://github.com/f1xpl/MtcdAutoVolume
BTW: MtcdAutoVolume is currently unusable because it controls to absolute volume levels (instead of relative).

I will test it this afternonn. Hopefully it works!
Since yesterday "myMTCService 0.7.2" is running on my PX5-HU with Malaysk V2 ROM...and now it is the first tool with a good working SDVC section!
All other avaiable GALA/SDVC-Tools i´ve tested are currently useless or do not working on PX5 Systems.
Congratulations and big thanks to "rabbity417" for his aswome work! :good:

I tried to install this on Malaysk v3, but when I run it the launcher keeps crashing, so it's not usable. After restarting the HU the launcher worked again. I uninstalled the service. Any suggestions?

A few weeks ago I tried the version 0.7.2 of MyMtc Service that free. Initially it worked but after a few days the volume changes had no effect. Now version 0.7.4 is released but I have not tried it yet. How does it work for you? Ask me a question: What's the difference between the free and the donate version?

"myMTCService 0.7.2" is running very well on my PX5-HU with Malaysk V2 since i use it (2 weeks now)
There is no difference in functionality between the free and the donate version. Donate version (more like a pay version) handles the "donate-money" comfortable with the google pay system.
I will try 0.7.4 on Malaysk V2 today.

Try the new Version 0.7.4. The Bug Fix on PX5 (Fix issues that reboot) maybe helps to get the tool running on your system. The Tool owner rabbity417 seems very interestet to make the tool more stable for the PX5 platform. He releases fast new versions.

Same here. 0.7.4 service stopps after standby. I have tried using Malaysk V3 for PX5 with CarSleepRun to keep alive the service ( added all listed - i guess - 7 mtc_services).
But did not work. The Screen Overlay Bug in Malaysk V3 is also annoying. No more experiments.
Now I am back on the well running 0.7.2 and Malaysk V2, where the mtc service is not stopped after standby

Off Topic: But I wonder how such a massive problem with Twilight in the release version could remain unrecognized.
Thats not a massive problem. It´s a feature
In the twilight description there you find the text to deactivate to install.
Use the app on my mobile too. for installing something i scroll down the statusbar and stop twilight service.

Very necro update March 2021:
All versions of this ROM are now stored on my personal site and can be found here:
Ainol Novo 8 Advanced Firmware Downloads
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A long time coming but Release 4.0 is now here
Site Link:NebularNerd.com
To save keep opening new threads I shall now just update this one to reflect the latest release. The main reason for the delay was waiting to find a firmware to base it on that offered something more than just a minor update.
To keep things short and sweet the full Readme will now be kept on a separate page on my blog Click Here and a plain text copy is in the download. Check out the Change log/What's New below then get your download and enjoy. Screen shots after the download links.
Posts #70 onwards for support on this release
Change log/What's New:
Key: + New # Updated > Information ! Important - Removed
07/04/2012 Version 4.0
+ Newer base firmware based on cheeyee and tomx2h releases.
! English only release, Multi Language may follow
! Google Maps will Force Close if you have no active Wifi or Data connection, this is the way the app works and not a bug.
- Flash and Skype removed as they only semi worked. You can install these from the market.
+ Modified Google Play Store gives the best results yet. Still not perfect but improves on last firmware.
! Play Store must not be updated, auto updater removed to prevent this. Any updates will remove the modded version.
+ build.prop altered with HTC Flyer data (closest match to our tablet) again results have improved in the Market.
# All included Google Apps, Facebook and Dolphin are latest versions as of compliling the Firmware
- Root explorer because it would still give Chinese menus, ES File Manager is just as good when given root access rights.
+ New Statusbar icons for Home, Menu, Up, Down and Back (See screenshots)
# The wallpaper app that was in Chinese I have converted to English, look for 'ICS Wallpapers'
- Separate Latitude.apk (now comes with Maps) and Car Home (Too small for our screens)
> For UK users iPlayer and latest Flash seem to play Medium quality streams without any problems, High quality is broken in iPlayer by the looks of it as setting it makes no difference over Medium.

amazing job.
i assume power off and sudden power on screen is not fixed yet because of hardware bug?
Will try and give my cents later today. THANKS , great job.
Thanks, great job!!!!
One question
have you fixed the power off bug
Huawei e220 and bluetooth
Hello. First of all, congratulations for the nice work!
I´m wondering if anyone managed to make Huawei e220 modem work on this rom. If so, please send the instructions.
Another thing that would be important on further updates is to make bluetooth hardware work on our Novo8 or also a external dongle.
Bye!

theres a workaround.. you need the "screen off timer" to 15secs.
Make it sleep. power on normally. immediately upon you unlock the screen, poweroff like you normally do. it works most of the times like that for me.

Bluetooth would be great

I am looking into the whole Bluetooth thing as it's something I would quite like to have running as well, on some of the other forums there is some Bluetooth stuff being worked on so I need to look and see what that is about and if I can use it.
Huawei e220 IS working!!!
Hehe, something is def. done with the power control. i can "easily" power it off now when the powercord is plugged in. But it immediately starts up again.
power off works and stays off without power cord. plug cord in and it powers on.
first cents.
thanks for fb, and dolphin! Why not make ES FileExplorer standard too?

I left ES out as it can be downloaded from the market, while it is my preferred file manager other may want something else so I'm trying to not overload the rom. To most people having the stock File Explorer and Root Explorer is likely enough. Facebook, Dolphin and Skype were added because like some of the Google apps they cannot be had off the market but are near enough essential to daily tablet usage.
*** NEWS FLASH ***
I have just managed to download the latest beta from the Chinese sites, took a while to work out how to do get it off their chosen download host, need to add learning Chinese to my todo list
I shall start playing with this new firmware and see how it behaves, who knows what that will bring us.

Ok, so yesterday while falling asleep i looked at latest topgear.
New in this rom, is that every five ten minutes, the "power off" dialog pops up.
Any idea how come? Also while playing games it pops up every now and then now. didnt in the earlier rom.
Also , when i started skype it said "Skype must be reinstalled" and i was never able to log in.
Exciting about new beta! Crazy stuff.

V2 install yesterday, and today I learned that in China have released a new version.
It has some bugs that you've fixed in V2, so I think you can pick your version of china and improve it.
I encourage you.
Thank you very much for making us enjoy both.
Feedback
A little feedback ROMs:
concerns:
First, after installing programs, I'm having problems ("com.androi.settings process stopped") to access Settings-App Manager. The same happens with the time zone setting. I tried reinstalling, but it continues going after the installation of any problem.
I am also having problems with skype ("resinstall skype").
Another question is about the graphics processing. Although our tablet has enough technology, games like Spiderman and Real footbal run without the proper rendering.
I think that ultimately, the ROM should not come with installed applications, it can easily be found through the Aptoide.
Moreover, the ROM is good, with few delays in Appmenu and tablet features working except bluetooth, but this is a problem of its own original ROM and still no solution proposed.
Keep the good work!
The ChinaDigital-mirror is broken (get a 44MB file every time).
Replies to all,
Regarding Skype issues, is this cropping up as soon as you are running Skype or after name and password entry. I do not have a Skype account so could not fully test, I shall add it onto the fix list for the next version.
naguz:
Thaks for the heads up I shall get onto rikeys and see what's doing. I should have another Mirror or two coming up any time soon.
daniel.eriksson:
The Power dialog is a weird on, everytime I flash it appears either more or less than before, hopefully the new beta has some fixes.
educuritiba:
Are you trying to change to another language? I've not ran into issues with Settings myself and did try changing languages around before release, if not please let me know what it is you are doing that leads to the FC.
App bundling is a tricky one to win, while those of us more skilled in the ways of the internet and things we can easily grab an apk to stick on, not everyone can or they prefer a all-in-one flash and be done solution. I'm not looking to stick anything on that can be had off the market and equally nothing that is not free for but things like Skype, Facebook and Dolphin are what I consider for most people must haves. Maybe for the next release I will bundle a working set of .apk's for people to install post flash.
Oberth, you are right. Those problems in settings only happen when the language is not english ( I am trying portuguese br).
Keep the good working in the next releases!!!
Bye
Yesterday I install the latest version to come out of China and is a wonder. Very stable and if no delay. The problem is that in Chinese and English is not complete. Would be nice if the Chinese were also multilingual and that all people around the world have this tablet. Bad for them.

hi, the rom is very good!
i change only the task bar to a another smaller.
a question:
what resolution u use?
how row and coluns in launcher u use?
to assist videos in 1080p, u use a standart video player or a mx video?
in the mx 1080p movies are slow, same in S/W fast.
im from brazil, and the rom is the best!

Hi Tobituba, Resolution is set at 160dpi which is 1280x768 (what the screen is) at 160dpi the Launcher gives 6 columns by 7 rows in the app screen. Video playback is just through the stock player using HW Decode where it can no other software required. If you're using MX you need to make sure you have the Arm 7 Codecs as well and make sure it tries to use HW where possible. Not tried it heavily as the stock player is pretty good now.
Well that looks shiny

Don't know other users, but I won't pay €0,90 for a module I cannot test in any way.
I think that most users would buy if there is a test version, maybe ad supported or with lag screen or something else.

Maybe I`ll made some shorten version as free - but not now. Have no time. Sorry.

Joying got in contact with me and asked me if I would wanted to test one of their new PX5 2GB models on Android version 8.
I decided that I wanted to do so, so I received for some 28 euros a Joying JY-VO130P2.
So what is it:
8" screen 2DIN unit for VW/Skoda/Seat/Audi
ARM Cortex based ARM V8, 1 processor 8 A53 cores (4 running at 1.5 GHz, 4 "low energy" running at 1.2 GHz)
FYT based SOM
2GB internal memory (RAM)
32GB storage (ROM)
Android version 8.0.0
particularities: DVD-player
I made a video review of it which you can find here:https://youtu.be/MH1snfDIU5A
The Good:
seems minimally faster than the Sofia 3GR
FYT/syu software the same as on Sofia 3GR.
Android 8.0.0, longer support
Android 8 supports split-screen functionality out of the box.
Improved radio reception (but needs to be tested over longer period)
Improved sound quality (I think, but I forgot to mention in the review)
The bad:
Too high temperatures of the cpu
No user configuration of buttons
FYT/syu software the same as on Sofia 3GR (I mean that some "weird" things are still there on the PX5 as well)
FYT/syu applications (radio, bt, music player, etc.) do not support split screen (and it is so simple to enable this)
No Android 8 Automotive integration
Chinese translations could be improved using on-line tooling like weblate.org or crowdin.com (or others) by using the user community.
The really bad:
Too high temperatures of the cpu. It really needs better cooling.
Update Sun 13 May 2018:
There is indeed an issue with the WiFi on this new Version 8.0.0 model. I already mentioned in my video review that it did not auto-connect to my WiFi networks.
- When fully rebooting the unit, it connects automatically to my home WiFi. No issue at all.
- When coming from deep-sleep, WiFi is either switched off ór WiFi is still on, but it doesn't connect automatically to my WiFi networks.
See update Fri 18 May
And maybe some explanation: I mentioned in the review that it is very simple to alter the AndroidManifest.xml to allow resizing the app and make it function in split-screen. So why didn't I do that myself?
The Joying apps are signed. Some parts can be easily changed without touching the signing, but the AndroidManifest.xml is part of that signing as it also contains the security options the application needs. Off course I do not have the Joying signature so I can't recompile the app with the same signature while the AndroidManifest.xml is obviously changed. That is exactly how it should work or any hacker could get access.
FYT/syu should change this.
Update Mon 14 May:
There used to be a bug in the older ROMs that where you gave the BT access to your contacts, it would erase all your contacts.
Well, 8.0 also erases all your contacts!
This issue annoys me highly as it is so old and it still isn't solved.
Update Tue 15 May:
The Google Assistant with spoken searches does not work.
When trying to use the voice search function (clicking the microphone in the search bar), It shows very shortly the 'Speak now' indicator before it turns into an error message that mentions "No internet connection". I checked very carefully and my internet connection is fine. I tried with 2 home WiFi networks and via hot-spot on my phone. All internet connections work fine, but Google search still gives this error message.
Update Fri 18 May:
See post #44
Update Wed 23 May (test of Android auto):
See post #54
Update Sunday 10 June:
See post #77
- OK Google solved.
Update Tuesday 12 June:
Some update about the BT app erasing your Google contacts: Joying is now working full steam on it. Another user made a nice video on youtube about it
Thanks a lot for your great review video!
Huh, 17 minutes... but it's definitely worth watching it fully till the end.
You spent a huge amount of effort and Joying still took 28 EUR from you? They should be ashamed!
So, the Joying Intel Sofia users (like me) will loose your support now? You state at the end of the video that you plan to continue using it in your car.
Interesting review, it addresses many of the questions I had regarding the new Joying PX5 units. Thanks!
Now as @realzoulou mentions above, I hope we won't lose you on the SOFiA platform! Your work on JET and on XSofiaTweaker is central to the success of those units.
I spend a day thinking whether I wanted to spend that money, because I really didn't. Finally I did agree because I thought: "then I have a spare unit for 28 euros".
Like I mentioned: the user layer software (the apks) is the same on the Sofia and the PX5. I already decompiled it in both apktool and jadx.
I can continue the XSofiaTweaker the same way for the PX5 as for the Sofia. Same for the JET apk with some small internal changes (if Sofia then, else ..)
I already made a nokill main server (=sofia server on Sofia) using the exact same steps as on the Sofia (and as explained by @realzoulou) and I replaced the radio mod.
Android 8 for this device is that new that there is no firmware to download yet.
I don't think rooting is a problem, but I'm not going to do/try that without firmware that allows me to reflash. Same for Xposed.
I will program the option to user-select the delay time for double/triple tap today (for Sofia), or at least early next week. However, I think XSofiaTweaker is now almost ready.
I think no new developments will come out for Android 6, so no further developments are necessary either for JET. Mods can easily be added as I simply upload them and use an xml to configure installation. Upload it, add a line to the xml, simply recompile: done.
I like to tinker, but I'm also a simple user that doesn't need that much. Especially when (or more probably: if) Joying/FYT/syu will make more hardware buttons and steering wheel buttons user configurable, there is even less need for special apps. (And I think I forgot to mention that GPS speed indication is correct on this units, but that should actually not be necessary to mention: it should simply work)
I just read on this forum Yesterday that on the standard Joying when you press the Navi button, the assigned (Navi) app will be started. If you press the button again, the previous app will be brought to front. Pressing it again the Navi app will be brought to front again. Etcetera. I did not even know that, but it is very handy. Of course that no longer works in the XSofiaTweaker (or in Gustdens mods).
Only that little overheating barbecue inside is worrying me.

No it is not suitable. The 2GB-RAM/16GB-ROM and 4GB-RAM/32GB-ROM models are NOT FYT based and NOT compatible with the 2GB-RAM/32GB-ROM models.
The version I have is a FYT based 2GB-RAM/32GB-ROM version. There is no Android version 8 firmware for it yet.

(also added to first post)
There's a 4gb version now on the joying website that is FYT based...
Probably will pick one of these up as a spare, at least the SoM, if anything to test or generate a rom, and get Xposed working on this!
Once root is ahcieved, the manifests can be changed, the program only needs to be granted root, and it'll work fine.
Questions:
Did you look at the clock speed? Is it variable? What governor is used?
What is the three lines present in the system bar do?
Did you open the unit? Haven't found any photos of the interior of the new units yet.

You have the 6.0 os installed? Want to try a custom ROM ( if I can figure it out). You can reflash stock if needed.

Yes, should be 6.0, what ever is stock. I'm down to try a custom ROM. I've felt like this is the better unit, if it could be tamed.
Update Mon 14 May
There used to be a bug in the older ROMs that where you gave the BT access to your contacts, it would erase all your contacts.
Well, 8.0 also erases all your contacts!
This issue annoys me highly as it is so old and it still isn't solved.

That's a bug in the SYU dialer app, it never went away. The solution is to use Xposed app settings to deny contacts write permissions. Ouch.

Overlooked this one. Will check tonight. It is variable from 216 MHz to 1.51GHz, but I will look at the specifics tonight.

I reported this bug immediately to Joying, like I did last year and like other users did as well: users from the XDA forum as well as the previous carjoying forum.
Joying reacted really surprised on my mail.
That surprised me again a lot (with some other emotions as well).
I just found new kind of devices on Joyings website and did not yet find any posts about it.
The Android 8.1 based devices are again Intel based, no Rockchip PX5 anymore.
CPU: Intel Airmont eight-core 1.8GHz SC9853i
RAM: LPDDR4 4GB
Flash: Samsung 32GB
Several display sizes are available, all still with the known 1024x600 resolution.
The CPU is an outcome of a cooperation by Intel and Speadtrum (see https://www.anandtech.com/show/12592/intels-last-atom-in-smartphones-a-2018-benchmark),
and another Atom 64-bit architecture spinoff (see https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/microarchitectures/airmont).
The GPU is a dual core Arm Mali-T820 GPU.
Anyone that had a chance to get hands on such a device and could make a comparision to the current PX5 based devices?
EDITs:
How to root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../howto-root-joying-sc9853i-head-unit-t3915530
Just picked this unit up last week. my first Android Head unit. cant compare it to any other units.
The thread about the new DSP units is also from users having such a new Intel model

Neither am I.
This CPU is at least 30% faster then PX5/PX6. Is 14nm technology.
Thats very promising. Anybody know if Android Auto would work for phones running pie? So sad i can't get that workon my old intel sofia.

No Android Auto does not work. At least the way its supposed to. You can install it on the unit if you have WiFi tether, but that defeats the point. Also the EasyConnected app will not work. Joying said that they were working on getting Android Auto working, so maybe in the next update.
My wife has a PX5 and I had the SoFIA model. This one is much faster. It still has problems like the WiFi randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. Only 1 SD card slot and it has randomly disconnected at times as well.

No. I will give it a try and see.
How's the screen quality? Daylight brightness and viewing angles okay?

Yes Headunit Reloaded worked-ish. I cand get it to work with USB, but it seemed to always fail with WiFi direct. I will play around with it more, but so far it looks good.

I was faced with this issue as well. The play store would only show Poweramp v2 so I searched the Poweramp forums and it turns out that Intel (x86) hardware is only supported by v2 and support was dropped in v3 and would only support ARM hardware.
However, I posted a question on the forum which you can see here: https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/16541-intel-based-car-head-unit/ and as you can see I have got it working although I'm still not sure why.
In summary, just uninstall v2, download the v3 apk from here https://powerampapp.com/download-poweramp/ and install it and it should run fine. Then just install the unlocker from the play store as normal (assuming you have the paid version) and it works fine. I'm now running Poweramp v3 on my Intel based Joying unit with no issues whatsoever. Just remember to turn off auto update for Poweramp in the play store otherwise I think it will 'upgrade' it to v2 again.
As I said though, I really don't know how it's working as others have said that they cannot get it to run at all on other Intel based hardware.
Hope this works for you.

I'm glad it's working.
I'm afraid I have no idea regarding the volume issue. It's not something I've noticed but I may just be anaware of it. Where are you trying to set the volume, on the main unit volume buttons or somewhere in Poweramp itself.

I've not touched those settings in Poweramp, I just use the main unit volume & equaliser. I'll have a look later today and report back.

Hello,
maybe somebody can help me.
To the radio:
PX6, Hal9k v4.0.2 Android 9, DSP, MCU GS 3.40, 9 inch in the BMW e46
Following problem:
Launcher and apps do not run smoothly.
Tried solutions:
New motherboard installed
New coreboard installed
New firmware installed
New Hal9k v4.0.2 installed
Problem still exists.
I have the same issue. especially with google maps. it's laggy; typing feels like using my old 'Galaxy S'.

That's right.
I also see this especially with the I-Bus App.
But only as soon as graphics are in play.
Also in the normal launcher.
But as soon as you are in the settings, everything goes smoothly.
As soon as a graphic is shown again, it stops again.
I have the same issue too. is there any solution?
problem in the Google app. Turn the Google app back to the old version. don't update again.

the px6 has Dual cortex-a72 + Quad cortex-a53 on it´s Board.
This is a Chipset introduced in 2016. Antutu Benchmark should be around 70k - 80k Points. This is very slow, so i think it´s would be Time for Chinese Factorys building new Android Radios with newer Chipsets...
A fix:
Maps is a notoriously heavy app. But the reason it lags on px6 is more than that alone. You can make it nearly lag-free through 2 changes:
1. Use the 32-bit (armeabi-v7a) nodpi apk. The rk3399 supports 64 bit (arm64-v8a) but it runs substantially slower to the 32-bit of the same release for some reason.
2. Downgrade a bit. How much you're willing to Downgrade is dependent on your preference, but the older releases all still work. Unfortunately I like the new versions more so I only rolled back to 10.55.2, but even that alone was a significant improvement over the latest release.
I'm disappointed that this is a problem when my $100 Umidigi phone can run maps more smoothly that the $350 head unit, but these two options make it good enough.
Also a note for Spotify PX6 users: use Tasker/Automate to emulate a touch on the album art every time the app is started to effectively start it in player mode instead of browsing.

No issue with maps on PX5 with sink/fan on Hal3/ Android 8.1, torque and Spotify all running. Have you checked for CPU thermal throttling?
Also, I have kernel auditior setting performance governor at boot.
