I am trying to get some help for my sister who needs to get her data from here Galaxy S6 but her screen is cracked with no visible display. In order to access the data she needs to put the phone into USB debugging or click her phone to allow her laptop access. With a broken screen she is unable to do either of those, and she has also tried using Kies, a newer Samsung app and that thing where it remotely detects your device but none of it has worked.
She has an otg cable with TV-Out but it isn't her S6. Would using another otg cable as a bridge between her phone and her TV-Out otg cable work? I would prefer a more simple solution than this as I am not in the same country as her so I'm not there to see what is going on for myself.
Thank you,

Unfortunately you can't do tv out on the s6 via otg, it doesn't have that function. The only other option is maybe connecting a mouse or keyboard via otg to try and allow access.
She does have a mouse she can put in but if she can't see the screen she can't click the prompt to allow access. There isn't a way of circumventing that prompt to get access to the files?

good day to everyone. firstly, i would like to thank you for having the time to read my post.
well basically heres my inquiry, my unit is the alcatel tab t10. i never had any problems with it until recently, my device's usb port suddenly stops working.
tried unchecking the usb debug mode, tried checking it but to no avail, the usb still does not work. it doesnt seem to connect to my laptop. tried changing the cable.
i also tried connecting my device to my brothers laptop.
correct me if im wrong, but when the usb fails to connect to any laptop, their should be a notification in the laptop that the device is not recognized. but in my condition, no notification shows up. its like my device does not really connect at all.
oh and if it helps, i bought an otg cable before it started malfunctioning. but the only thing i had conneceted to my device is a wired mouse and a wired generic gamepad, which both seems to be working perfectly fine.
also, if i connect my device to a wired mouse, it would work perfecly fine. i could also connect to a usb flash drive, that is via the otg cable.
so whats weird is that the usb cable does not work, but the otg cable works fine.
if you have any question or any suggestion , i would truly appreciate it.
Hmm.....well the good thing is the port itself isn't "dead" as you can still utilize it for OTG. My only suggestion is make a backup of all your apps and data and try a factory reset.
Sent from my SCH-R880 using xda app-developers app
thank you for the suggestion guitarman2010. unfortunately my usb port isnt still working. i also reflashed my device's current firware. but still wasnt the solution i was looking for. i was just wondering if there is a directory under the root folder that holds the devices usb driver? would it be possible that the device's driver itself got deleted? i wam still at awe that the otg cable still works like a charm.
and another thing, is the male usb pin the same with the flash drive's pin? cause if i connect the usb cable to the otg cable it wont work, but the flash drive works normally.
sorry for the amount of question im posting
thank you very much for the suggestion. especially when u told me that the port itself wsnt dead. i can now breathe easier..
and future suggestion and advice would be appreciated.
do you guys know how to access the phoneutil in tablet? maybe i should change the usb option to pda? but i heard that its only applicable to samsung 4.0.3 devices? suggestions are appreciated.
My girlfriend dropped her phone and it works but you cannot see anything on the screen because its cracked. She has a passcode lock on it when it boots up and i have no idea how to get her pictures and videos off of it. If anyone can give me some ideas of how to do this that would be awesome. She has some important pictures on there that she woulld like back.
If touch works, you could try going through the movements to enter the passcode and hope it works.
If touch doesn't work, is the bootloader unlocked? If so, boot into recovery. If you use a custom recovery like TWRP, you should have ADB access and will be able to access files on the virtual /sdcard. I don't think you can get into ADB on stock recovery, but doesn't hurt to try.
If you can't get into ADB through recovery, was USB Debugging enabled on the phone? If so, you might be able to get the files through ADB that way.
I found this, maybe it will help:

You'll need ADB access to use it, however.
If this phone has never been hacked, rooted, and USB debugging never enabled, I think you would just have to replace the screen. It's actually pretty easy on these phones.
Yea she's not into this at all so it is bone stock and USB debugging is not enabled. Could I somehow get a USB OTG cable and hook a hdmi cable into to get the screen to show up on a tv or something? Wish the damn thing had removable memory.
Unfortunately, these phones don't have HDMI out.
It does, however, have USB OTG so you're onto something! Try plugging in a USB keyboard. I just tried setting a passcode and I can enter it using a keyboard.
Good thinking!

Nice! that should do the trick, my pc woulld recognize it after i get it unlocked i woulld assume. Thanks a lot for the input i hope it works (bonus points to me)
Yep, pretty sure your PC should recognize it. I think this will work. Good luck!
Hello!
After long search I didn't find any answer to my problem. So here I am.
Most important informations:
Screen is broken totally, I can't see anything, touching doesn't seem to work (no reaction to unlock pattern at all.
Device is not rooted
USB Debugging is disabled
USB mode is set to charging only
Stock software
PDA: G920FXXS4DPG2
I tried to connect it via HDMI to my tv but it didn't work. If I could use HDMI I have another micro USB port in HDMI Adapter that I can use with OTG and mouse.
Is there a way to recover text messages, photos and some other files?
There is already an exact same thread like this

Hi everyone,
Sadly, I broke the screen and digitizer of my beloved OP3T :crying:
The bootloader is unlocked, android is rooted and I have TWRP as recovery.
Unfortunately, usb debugging is disabled as my banking application refused to work when it was enabled.
I don't plan to replace the screen as the A3010 as poor/non-existent 4G support here in europe, I didn't know that when I bought that phone
I would like to use the phone as a media player or home automation system through a DisplayLink adapter, but I have trouble to set it up blindly.
I tried to use this tool but I wasn't able to connect to the phone.
I think I manage to enable usb debugging with adb in twrp recovery but I'm not 100% sure. It keeps saying "state: rejected", I don't know if that means that usb debugging is disabled or that I need to approve my host PC (which I can't without the digitizer working)...
Plan B was to use a DisplayLink adapter...
I installed "DisplayLink Presenter" on my OP3T through the play store but It displays nothing on the external monitor.
Maybe I need to unlock the phone first? But I can't type the pin code without a digitizer...
I'm out of idea so your help would be very welcome :good:
Regards,
Cédric
TL;DR: Is it possible to install a USB > DisplayLink adapter on a phone with broken screen and digitizer?
The Touchscreen on my device is entirely unresponsive, which leads me to believe that the digitizer broke (the display is fine and i already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the displays ribbon cable). I already bought a new device but this old phone has some data that i would like to access. I have tried to connect both keyboards and mice to it but it seems to not accept USB connections before entering the password. I tried 2 OTG adapters that work on other devices but not with this one. I can't connect with adb either. is there a way for me to enter my password and gain access to my data?
The OPPO Find X2 Lite has OTG support. Keep trying.

i assumed that it supports OTG, but since my devices didn't connect i thought the phone might reject usb connections before it's unlocked. is this false? i also noticed that it supports otg 1.3 and 2.0, but my otg device is 3.0 . could that be the reason it didn't work?
*edit: it also connects the keyboard in recovery mode
i tried using OTG 2.0 and it didn't work either. predictable but still disappointing.
In order to use OTG you must enable it first in settings every time you want to use it, but with no digitizer you can't do it.. oppo messed up things by not doing this automatically or at least gave us the option to have it always enabled..
