Is there any metal back covers to replace the plastic stock one that it comes with I've been looking but need help!
Hi,
so far I have not seen any metal back covers. There a couple of metal/metal coated cases out there. But with those metal cases you buy also a couple of disadvantages as those cases block the transmission of the mobile and wireless lan aerial and also the NFC communication (and that in most cases up to 100%).
I've once tried a metal coated case but mobile and wireless reception was very bad and also NFC did not work..

which is the best case to buy for compact size , protection , style and useability in regards to the capability for the belt clip. i have seen the aluminium and plastic one . how does the belt cilp work with that also can you get them in funnky anodised colours.
cheers
Don't know about funky colours but the leather Krussel case is excellent.
O2 standard Xda II case
On the subject of cases, anyone know if it's possible to get a spare belt clip for the standard O2 Xda II case? A tiny bit broke off mine after 1 month and it is now useless as the PDA falls off it.
Neither my local O2 shop nor the UK Xda II Service Centre can supply a replacement belt clip on its own - they want to hit me for £20 for a new case. If I do have to buy one, it won't be from them, that's for sure...

Why bother? Just get the Krussel, it's a much better case and way cheaper.
The Alu cases have a screw-in peg on the rear of the case which the belt clip locks onto. Others using the Alu cases have suggested glueing the post in place to prevent it unscrewing during normal wear.
The Alu cases also reduce the signal strength in weaker areas. I purchased the ProPorta model and only used it for two weeks before going back to the standard O2 case.
I am now the very happy owner of a ProPorta Crystal Case. It is very lightweight, adds almost no bulk and looks great.
Unfortunately it does not support a belt clip although I see no reason why you couldn't fabricate something yourself if you were so inclined.
I just got the clear case, its very sexy, wish it had a belt clip but you cant have everyting, there is a thread about the clear case with pics, it's like the alu case but that looses signal strength apparently, although does have sd card holders if i remember correctly and this doesn't...

its nice cos u can make and receive calls without the threat of the xda2's slippery surface sliding thru your hands... which is why i used to keep it in my standard case so much... i just got mine from pdamods.com for £15
the standard case offers little protection to the lower sides of the xda2 (not that i have scratches on mine as a result but some people moan of it) but there is a reason, basically it's so you can sit it in the docking cradle without taking it out the case...
moving on, I'm getting this silicon job that pdamods want £20 for, from ebay at only a £10  this seller has them for sale all the time - here is an example auction with picture http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5115014427&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
it doesnt have a belt clip but has a loop by the looks for carry strap / neck strap type effort
Clips
I use cases utilziing the Ulti-Clip from http://www.theclip.com/.
My leather case from HandheldPlanet.com has one.
They are very solid clips. I used a stick-on post on my aluminum case -I took off the screw-in post. Now all my phones/gadgets have the same clip.
Is anybody making a leather case that does NOT have a snap closure, similar to the EB Case for the original XDA? The Krussel is nice, but that strap/snap closure is annoying and slow to use.

As far as accessories go, I have the Body Glove case. It's rock solid and very tough, if a bit bulky. I tried a cheapo hard plastic case, but it did not cut the mustard.
I have also found that the data/power cables are not fully interchangeable. When rooting my phone, I found that using a generic USb cable did not work. I used the included data cable and it was no problem.
I tried a screen cover, but the screen is tough, so it's not needed to prevent scratches. I wanted it mostly for poke and crush protection (leanign against something with phone in pocket) but I tore it off. THe Body GLove case rises above the screen to help protect, at least from flat surface.
I love my cheap Virgin Mobile phone.
I am seriously considering getting the universal wrist charger i found online.
It's available at thinkgeek
Saw this on ebay last night

Look at the bumper, there are cut outs in the aluminum where the antennae is. Would this case suffer from signal loss? I remember the aluminum bumpers for the Note 2 and Note 3 would have weaker signals and/or loss of GPS ability.
Anyone have experience with these?
Thanks
They look good. Does it cover the back of the phone also?
I bought an aluminum bumper. Even after reading everybody saying they killed your signal I bought one. Looked really good. But it killed my signal. How in the hell do people buy those? They must be popular, they are all over the place. People have to be buying them. How?
Now, I ditched the bumper, but I ordered the aluminum battery cover. It looks cool too, and the way I understand it, the antenna are in the edges, so the aluminum batter y cover should not ruin my signs l right? Thought?
I expect people are buying them for the same reason you did?
NFC antenna is in the battery, so you may have issues with an aluminum back cover and NFC performance. I know that the thin wireless charging adapters negatively impact NFC performance. Mine still works with the thin wireless adapter under the stock back cover, but the ability to transmit/receive via NFC is reduced.
In need of a good bumper case and the only ones I've seen are the Luphie aluminium ones. Does anyone have experience with them? Some interfere with 4g or GPS and air definitely don't want that.
dont have a honor 8 but tried a aluminium rim on my phone and the signal dropped constantly, would stay away from metal cases.
I have one, I forget the brand name, but it fits very well, and is good quality. I was actually surprised how nice it was.
It has cutouts for the antennas, so you don't lose signal.
I actually ordered one of the luphie ones, because as nice as this is, it's just a bumper, and doesn't provide any clearance for the back or front of the device, which I want.
I think you'll be OK either metal bumpers for the honor 8. The manufacturers have realized they need the openings for the antenna.

How about the GPS signal reception? I read somewhere that although the metal bumper did not affect the call signal too badly, the GPS signal was being dropped.
No issues with gps I noticed. My gps was as crappy with it as it was without it.
I've used this:
https://www.amazon.com/TopAce-Bumpe...TF8&qid=1486746387&sr=8-1&keywords=B01HT7BHDA
Fits perfectly and makes it work (attached picture of the result of the phone falling from my pocket while sitting in my desk). I found no issues with the antennas. The problems I found where the following:
-The shape increase the grip but makes the phone too wide and not comfortable to work with if you not have a huge hand.
-Is as thin as the phone what is good for inserting in your pocket but the phone won't rest on it when you put in any surface as a table. The glass surface is in contact which means not protection from scratches.
-The power and volume buttons have the same texture.
Finally I'm normally using a regular transparent classic tpu case. I only use the bumper when I want it to be slim as possible (when wearing suit for instance).
PS: I've also used an aluminium bumper in my old HTC One (m7) and was a good experience too.
