xda 2 cases - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

which is the best case to buy for compact size , protection , style and useability in regards to the capability for the belt clip. i have seen the aluminium and plastic one . how does the belt cilp work with that also can you get them in funnky anodised colours.
cheers

Don't know about funky colours but the leather Krussel case is excellent.

O2 standard Xda II case
On the subject of cases, anyone know if it's possible to get a spare belt clip for the standard O2 Xda II case? A tiny bit broke off mine after 1 month and it is now useless as the PDA falls off it.
Neither my local O2 shop nor the UK Xda II Service Centre can supply a replacement belt clip on its own - they want to hit me for £20 for a new case. If I do have to buy one, it won't be from them, that's for sure...
Gadget 8)

Why bother? Just get the Krussel, it's a much better case and way cheaper.

The Alu cases have a screw-in peg on the rear of the case which the belt clip locks onto. Others using the Alu cases have suggested glueing the post in place to prevent it unscrewing during normal wear.
The Alu cases also reduce the signal strength in weaker areas. I purchased the ProPorta model and only used it for two weeks before going back to the standard O2 case.
I am now the very happy owner of a ProPorta Crystal Case. It is very lightweight, adds almost no bulk and looks great.
Unfortunately it does not support a belt clip although I see no reason why you couldn't fabricate something yourself if you were so inclined.

I just got the clear case, its very sexy, wish it had a belt clip but you cant have everyting, there is a thread about the clear case with pics, it's like the alu case but that looses signal strength apparently, although does have sd card holders if i remember correctly and this doesn't...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=10480
its nice cos u can make and receive calls without the threat of the xda2's slippery surface sliding thru your hands... which is why i used to keep it in my standard case so much... i just got mine from pdamods.com for £15
the standard case offers little protection to the lower sides of the xda2 (not that i have scratches on mine as a result but some people moan of it) but there is a reason, basically it's so you can sit it in the docking cradle without taking it out the case...
moving on, I'm getting this silicon job that pdamods want £20 for, from ebay at only a £10  this seller has them for sale all the time - here is an example auction with picture http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5115014427&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
it doesnt have a belt clip but has a loop by the looks for carry strap / neck strap type effort

Clips
I use cases utilziing the Ulti-Clip from http://www.theclip.com/.
My leather case from HandheldPlanet.com has one.
They are very solid clips. I used a stick-on post on my aluminum case -I took off the screw-in post. Now all my phones/gadgets have the same clip.

Is anybody making a leather case that does NOT have a snap closure, similar to the EB Case for the original XDA? The Krussel is nice, but that strap/snap closure is annoying and slow to use.

Replacement belt clips

I just broke my second belt clip on original/replacement T-mobile leather case.
I was unable to find replacement belt clip fo these cases on our market (Czech Republic), and I am sick of buying another leather case for 20 euros.
Does anybody know if there is retailer offering replacement belt clips for original MDAII leather case? I would probably buy dozen of these...
We sell replacements for that 'Jump Clip', but I'll warn you beforehand that the entire design of that clip is terrible. We did NOT make these these clips, but we bought them only to serve those customers who wanted to replace their Moto FRS 2-way radio clips, which are the same clip. The difference is that FRS radios are very inexpensive and your PDA is not. Therefore I first suggest you look into a better case before your PDA is lost or seriously damaged due to that bad clip design.
Check out our 'Partner Links' page at:
http://www.theclip.com/store/customer/pages.php?pageid=11
And remember, no matter how nice the case looks, it's only good as long as the belt clip holds it.
As he said, that clip (and the case) are absolutely horrible.
If you really want one, I'll send you mine for the cost of shipping, which I believe is $9. It has not, and will not ever be used.

Krusell Case

I wonder if any one has this case and what is the general impression about it,I am considering it or the Noreve but prefer the Krusell because iy has a place for Business/Credit cards.
I first bought Krusell Orbit Flex case. The leather and the design are good, but the sewing is not good enough that the window of screen and the window of the hardware button are not parallel. Then I bought Noreve case. Leather, cutout, sewing, knob and belt clip are all good. Both Krusell and Noreve are tightly fit Touch Diamond with a bit pressure to pull the device into the case hole. The window cut out for Krusell is not good enough than the Noreve. I like the belt knob of Noreve since it is metal made and can be completely removed with the supplied screwdriver and cap. The belt clip of Noreve is also better than Krusell but there are a wider choice of Krusell clip to exchange. Overall I prefer Noreve than Krusell.

I ordered one of these earlier today - I've paid for Saturday delivery - not convinced they were really in stock but hoping as I havent recieved a dispatch notification. I'll update in the morning if it arrives and confirm the Krusell model number although its the only "orbit" one I can find???
***UPDATE*** Case arrived this morning from MobileFun and YES its the Krusell 75365 with the removable front.
http://www.krusell.se/product.php?productID=2994&category=76
The quality is just as you'd expect from Krusell - excellent. They've even added some detailing on the back that matches the "daimond" shaping from the battery cover. I'm very pleased.

I've been using the case for a few weeks now and I'm really pleased with it. I do preffer the Diamond "naked" but when travelling and at work this case is ideal?
.
thanks for the replys and I am actually considering either Krussel or Noreva but Krusell has a business card pocket which I like and used a lot with my Kaiser.

Cases

I've just ordered this phone a few days ago and waiting for delivery from the UK.
Just wondering what cases others have used for this phone? Or recommendations even?
I've got an i-mate SP5 (HTC Tornado) at the moment, which came with a leather pouch/holder (that hangs on the belt etc). I doubt the SP5 case will fit the S740, which I know is much longer in size.
It doesn't have to be one made specifically for this phone, it just needs to fit it.
I have one of the PDair aluminum cases for my S740. This followed me dropping the phone onto the sidewalk and cracking the nice front screen which in turn made me realize that the design of the phone offers no protection against this sort of accident.
So when I am out an about at the weekend, this wraps the phone in a very nice metal case that clips to the belt but gives you full access to all controls and buttons (except the QWERTY) without having to take the phone out of the case. You can then flip open the case (it has a hinge) to use the QWERTY if you need to.
So if what you need is proper protection against knocks, this is the case for you
That's probably good advice. I do have a tendency to drop my phones.
My Tornado's somehow managed to survive everything thus far with plenty of scratches to show for it.
I've already ordered the Krusell case, so i'll see how that one goes first. Otherwise i'll probably end up getting the aluminum one too.

Hi. I can recommend you the Krusell pouzdro Orbit flex or the Krusell Horizon.
Krusell Orbit Flex for HTC S740
Hi
I have got case "Krusell Orbit Flex for HTC S740" for few days. It is not bad case. It is good, but it has few problems.
By motaba
1.
There is no openning for USB port
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/9296/20090115p1240607sz1.jpg
2.
Front of case is a little bit smaller, so phone is not covered/secured at front upper corner.

3.
Hole for camera a little bit out of line , so you can see it in photos taken by phone.

But I still think that this case is very good. These are only minor problems.
Krusell Multiadapt system is perfect. I am gonna buy CarHoldickit and BikeHolderkit.

no it does not come with a case.
Some of the pre release Press Review Models had a mesh slip case thing in the box but the retail boxed device does not come with any for of case or cover.

oh ic..
what a pity,so we have to buy a proper case for this thing.
hmm, i think its a little hard to find.
i wonder to buy the simple case for this rose, just like the one from default in E90 nokia does, i think its cool case
I got my S740 on an Orange contract. It came with a mesh style slip pouch. I've attached a photo of it.
I don't like krussel cases, particularly the plastic sheet that separates layers in sliders. I am convinced it makes the phone loose.
I can wholeheartedly recommend pdair as the best value quality case.
A step up is proporta, normally £10 more or so.
Top notch cases are from noreve - but you need to be keeping the phone for a long time to justify the noreve cost, although it is a thing of beauty
http://www.noreve.com/brand/HTC/product/Housse_cuir_HTC_S740_-_HTC_Rose_Tradition.html
Not sure if this is too late but I bought my Rose about 4 months ago and it came with the mesh slip case. Has kept it scratch free so far and I've dropped it a couple of times ad it has been fine. Good case.

My Japanese S22HT shipped with that mesh case, my S743 had nothing hahaha
I'm using the el-cheapo case that had come with my Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday) for my S743. It's not the greatest protection, and it's a somewhat tight fit, but it's working out OK.
I was at Best Buy and there is an Eddie Bauer horizontal belt pouch that works well, but I didn't care for the suede interior, as it could retain grit, etc. that could scratch the keyboard. Hey, maybe Clarivue could come up with little squares to cover each individual key on the num pad?

I actually ended up dumping my krussel case as the plastic sheet got snagged in the slider and gradually the plastic just broke.
Now on the hunt for a new case (again).
I just ordered one of the Noreve cases for this thing. I have a tendency to destroy my phones so I needed something and wanted something nice. I'll let you know what I think of it in about two weeks when I am back from Vegas.

GREAT case. I am glad I spent the extra money.
The phone doesn't sit perfectly flat in the case due to the backing plate on the phone. I don't think this is a flaw on the part of the case, just the way it ends up being. I don't even really notice it anymore. I held the case and tried my best to shake the phone loose... no go. That think is IN there.
The keyboard slides in and out with ease and the little tabs that hold the phone down have yet to create any wear marks on the phone from sliding the keyboard open.
The belt clip is great and as best as I can figure, WILL NOT come off your belt accidentally. It can take a bit of getting used to clipping the phone onto the belt clip but eventually it becomes second-nature. When you spin the phone on the clip, it makes a "tick tick" kind of sound as it changes position. This is good for 2 reasons: You can verify, by feel, that the phone is clipped in properly, and you can have the phone hold position at various different angles.
My one beef is that the thread started to come out. This isn't really a huge deal since the side that the thread ends on is double-stitched for most of the length. I just trimmed it and put some clear nail polish on the thread to glue it in place. No problems on that front since.
I love the fact that there is no plastic over the keyboard. I HATE that cheap plastic crap they use on cases. It is such garbage! lol
One other note: The magnet is nice and strong. It is also in position that makes it almost impossible to open up when the phone is clipped in. It is, however, not so strong that it prevents you from flipping it open with one finger. Seems to be perfect strength.
overall i'd give it a solid 8 out of 10: I dock points for: Slightly uneven seating in the case, and thread coming out a bit. other than that, it is exactly what I expected.
WARNING: keep keyguard on at all times. Pressing your arm against the phone when it is on your belt can cause the "call" key to be depressed.
BeRad, it looks like a really nice case! But wow that price is really high (in Australian dollars it's $70.46).
But I guess the old saying goes, you get what you pay for!
hi friends, looking for a clear hard case for my rose or silicone case, both with two separate parts, one for back and one for front, can not find any on ebay, just found this mobilephonecrazy.com/modeldetail/S740,black_silicon_case.htm or mobilephonecrazy.com/modeldetail/S740,Clear_crystal_cover.htm
somebody ordered it ready? there is no real photo, do not like aluminium or leather cases

[Q] Belt Case/Holsters - What's "in" this season? What U Playrs Be Rockin'?

Erm ... not really.
Can anyone give some advice about a belt case/holster?
I'm thinking on the lines of this type http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OHFTPXM/ a horizontal case.
But, this don't usually last that long.
So, I was thinking about http://www.amazon.co.uk/Urvoix-Case-Cover-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00S6DQ37W/ a vertical canvas style.
But, I'm unsure using it with a belt and in vertical orientation would it just get in the way, sitting down, driving etc?
I'll probably be buying a case for the phone too.
Any advice please.
Thank you
I used to use belt holsters and cases but problem is this phone is so big the cases look like fanny packs Lol.
With that out of the way, I think the horizontal holders are better for when you sit down.
I'm using a Seidio CAPSA exoskeleton holster in horizontal orientation, with a UAG case. They fit perfectly together. If you search the forums someone on here has posted photos of this combination. If you rotate it to vertical it does get in the way a little when sitting down, so I use it horizontal.

Thank you both very much
I use an Otterbox Defender w/holster & don't have any issues sitting down w/ the phone in the landscape/horizon mode. I do take the phone off my belt in the car to use my Craig's Docks car dock/mount. I think your physique has a lot to do with the comfort of the phone when seated. I also have a horizontal nylon belt pouch I got from Amazon that fits the phone with the Defender case but I've never used it because I've had no problems with the Defender's holster. The nylon pouch would be very useful if you're in a warm climate & it's raining & you're outside a lot.
One thing I really like about the Defender holster is it allows the phone to be placed in the screen out position so I can see/use the screen when it's clipped on my belt (it's of course less protection than screen in but for me the functionality outweighs that). I do agree that the size of the N4 looks like you've got a tablet on your belt, it does look ridiculous but it is what it is.
The Defender is a high quality precision made case IMO and if you buy one online make sure you buy it either directly from Otterbox or directly from Amazon (not a third party reseller) as counterfeiting is rampant with them. Also you have to remove the included plastic screen protector & use something else for clarity & to prevent the constant dirt that accumulates through the opening for the home key w/ the installed screen protector.
I haven't used the exact same one that you listed, but I used a very similar design holster for my gs1 and that fake pleather material wore out pretty quick by the belt area. I can't believe I paid $15 for that. If you want to go vertical, I personally recommend it on the side. Would interfere if worn near the front. Out of those 2, I would say the nylon holster would last longer because of the 1000d cordura nylon, but I can't speak for the overall quality. The stitching might be shoddy and stuff could fall apart easily.
I used the supcase beetle case with holster, but the case and holster broke. The case could not take a huge impact. I wore the holster on my side horizontally and broke the belt clip getting out of the car. I am currently using a cheap otterbox defender type case with holster.

Awesomes x2 Thank you
I think we can close this one now, if needed :good:
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung...-kickstand-combo-black-p/bd2-hr3ssgt4k-bk.htm
iv been using the seido surface for about 6-7 months now and its still working great, spring on the holster still seems as strong as brand new, and its pretty slim compared to the other case+holster combos. it provides plenty of protection, iv dropped my phone at least 10 times since november, each time onto hard surface floors from about waist high (im 5 foot 11), and each time i remove the case to see what damage i caused and surprised to see that my phone itself still it perfect cosmetic condition. no scratches or scuffs anywhere on the edges or corners. phone sits pretty snug into the clip, it has NEVER came off on its own. if something were to go wrong with this case ill definitely buy another one.
Read my thread about Seidio & buying form their online store.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/accessories/dont-want-to-buy-seidios-webstore-t3036913
I have to initiate a chargeback w/ the bank that issued the credit card I used to get a refund. Seidio refunded zero.
Seido's online store is a joke if you have a problem w/ one of their products. By far the worst experience I've ever had purchasing online.
The Surface is a decent case but completely overpriced. Only reason I got one was to turn into the Surface w/ holster which was complete garbage, both the case & the holster. Everytime I moved the phone fell off the beltclip, is was unusable. And yes, I did have the case locked to the beltclip.
For the price Seidio charges for the Surface it should have rocker switch covers at a bare minimum. You can spend a fraction of the cost of a Surface & get a far nicer case.
Best Buy sells the Surface as their Platinum series at half the price Seidio charges.
IMO Seidio = garbage.
Maxpedition
Ever since I starting using tactical pouches with my iPhone 5s, I have continued to do so with my Note 4. I use Maxpedition pouches, as they are made of 1050d ballistic nylon. They are quite excellent.|
When I'm at work, during my food vendering stuff, I use their TC-3 pouch. However, I rock their leg pouch for any other events. Since I run around with no case on my phone except for the leg pouch and the small pouch that my phone and cards slip in, I am quite pleased with the setup. Excellent durability and I can carry my expensive IEMs, wallet, phone, and a couple extras with no problem.
Thank you all for the additional post and information
After a lot of head scratching I ordered the vertical case (2nd link in my OP).
I'll use it as a starting point and try other cases once I get my Note 4 through the post.

Leather Sleeve for S6

I've got a Spigen Neo Hybrid case for my Galaxy S6, and after chucking on a tempered glass onto the front + back of the phone, I just can't keep using the case (the feeling of the phone in my hand is too damn nice).
I've been trying to find a good leather sleeve for my phone, and I've found a few of them below:
(Can't post links because of post limit)
- Etzy Leather Case from JACCET
- Senacases Heritage Ultraslim
I was wondering before I make a purchase (learning towards the senacases one), if anyone has had experience with leather sleeves with their phones before and can recommend a brand/make.
Just looking for a slim leather sleeve with no tags of any kind (branding tags to the sides or magnetic clips at the top).
I have used these pouches from iGadgitz for a number of years on my S3. I also purchased the Neo Hybrid (I like it a lot) as well as the iGadgitz from Amazon. It's a bit tough to get the phone in/out at first but it will stretch out a bit until it's a good fit. The little tag (which basically loops under the phone) makes it very easy to get out.
I find the S6 way too slippery, so more than likely I'll be returing the pouch.
Thanks for that mate, but I was looking for something without tags as I find they catch onto the inside of my pocket too much and ruin the aesthetics.
You can try any sleeve that worked for the gs5. The dimensions are super close, and you won't notice much of a gap. I purchased this Amazon Snugg Pouch and it works well. Not too snug, not too loose. Good protection. It's not the best quality, but for 10 bucks, I can't complain.
I have a good option for ya
You can choose Beyza Case. It is a very high quality product and a bit cheaper than Sena case. However, it is shipped from Turkey (takes a week to arrive in US)
