I've seen video reviews for both cases, but they didn't exactly cover the points that I really wanted to know.
The Kommandant Ultra Thin Aluminium Metal Case (Just Google "Kommandant S4 Case". The link to the case goes straight to Ebay)

If you have either of these cases, I need to know just a few things:
1. If I lay my phone flat on a table, does the camera lense touch the table? Or does the case come out enough to stop the camera from touching the table? (I don't want the camera lense scratched)
2. When the phone is in the case, how sturdy does it feel? Does the phone wiggle at all if you shake the case a little bit?
3. Does the case feel solid? Does it feel like it could fall apart at any moment? Or does it feel solid and well built?
Please weigh in if at all possible!
I have both cases, so I can answer your questions..
1. Neither case lets the camera lens touch the table.
2. The aluminum case is a lot more sturdier, however sturdiness does not equal drop protection. (Aluminum case would transfer the shock of the drop to the body of the phone and screen, but the TPU in the Neo Hybrid would absorb some of the impact, although not as much as a silicon-poly-carbonate combo case like the Incipio DualPro).....
3. Same thing...neither of the cases will fall apart.
PRO TIP: The Kommandant case from CaseFanatic is actually a slightly remodeled Chinese aluminum case which can be bought from eBay for ~$12-16.. (I also have a aluminum case from eBay for $13, it looks, and feels almost identical to the Kommandant)
Search "Bumper aluminum case galaxy s4" on eBay, you should be able to find some.
By the way, aluminum cases that have a back plate tend to lower your cell, WiFi, GPS reception by about 1 bar, but you could get a aluminum bumper which doesn't affect reception at all.
Spiegen case is great. I don't have or want the other. I did some research on the case before buying, the ones listed on eBay for half price are not real. I bought from the manufacturer got a screen protector for half price.
Lense won't get scratched laying flat on the table. Very well engineered to fit perfectly around the camera and flash.
Case is very snug and buttons are really easy to push. Great phone Jack is small but fits stock head phone fine. But my computer speakers Jack won't fit. Also 3rd pray chargers that are bigger on the end don't fit. Example being my Motorola car charger from a few years ago.
I have dropped my phone several times and the plastic around the phone is jacked up but the phone it's self is perfect. You can buy replacement for 10 on there web site. Or different colors. I have metal red and yellow. Digging the red... I have a white phone.

Spigen all the way! Is fits sooo nice
I have my s4 since november and already dropped it three times. Once on a wooden floor and two times on concrete. The phone survived (even the screen) but it got some bruises. The top left and bottom right "corner" of the phone are a bit malformed from the two falls on the concrete. Every time it fell out of my pocket, so it's not a matter of hand grip.
So I decided it's time for some protection.
I have a silicone case. It's one of those book thingies. But it was cheap, it's thin and I'm not really fond of it. Mostly because I have a hard time reaching the buttons.
Yesterday I got a hard plastic case. But the problem with this one is that it only offers protection at the back and the sides of the phone (left and right), the top and bottom are unprotected. And there is the button problem too.
My concern is that when the phone falls down, the most impact is taken up by the margins (I don't remember the technical term). It rarely happens that the phone falls flat on the screen (generally speaking). It mostly falls and hits with the margin first. And that's mostly where the screen starts to break too.
And I don't really want to go overkill with one of those bomb resistant cases :laugh: I don't want the phone to become more bulky (what's the point of a sleek design if it's ruined by a huge case)
I don't use GPS. I heard some metal cases mess with signal reception.
Considering the above, I thought I should go for a metallic bumper, or maybe silicone bumper.
I'm asking for some other user experiences here. What others have found to offer good protection and stuff. And I'm not asking for a product. I'm just asking what type of product (Case or bumper, and whatever other options there are)
I was using S-line silicone cover for my i9070 (SGS Adv) and it was nice all rounder.
Dropped phone form desk on concrete, fell off my pocket on the street ... it was all fine.
It wasn't really much thicker than phone on its own and buttons were easily accessed. I have not tried this type on S4 but I imagine there is one.
Currently in i9505 I have more bulkier case - case mate hybrid tough (2 layers: rubber "inside" similar to every silicone case there is, and plastic outside - looks like what you described as your sides/back only case, with some plastic on the corners) - buttons / screen are a bit "deeper" in the case (thicker ruber overlay on sides than it was on S-line in i9070) but damn it feels like it can survive throw at the wall and bouncing off the ground.

I've been using an Amzer Shellster for my S4 and really happy with it. Cost me £12.89 including delivery. Bumper case adds minimal bulk yet provides goof protection against falls. Really like the hip holster for use running or biking.
Can Anyone recommend me a slim fit cover that fits nicely on the s4, not too expensive but not too cheap. Thanks

CaseMate Tough case. Cost me about $20 at Walmart, though it's probably a lot less on Amazon. It fits perfectly, even with a glass screen protector installed on the touchscreen. It also has a textured back which provides the "grippy" feeling that the S4 polycarbonate lacks.
I'm currently using an original Protective cover+, and though it wasn't that cheap I definitely can recommend it. Fits perfectly (of course), no problems with connecting my S4 with a docking station. Since I've got the cover I've "thrown" away my S4 four times. The first "test" was when it fell on the street while pulling it out of my backpack. Second time I used it as a torch and it fell 2 meters down on wooden ground. The other two times it fell on carpet. Nothing happened at all to my good old phone, not even a scratch on the back. Also no problems at all with using the hardware keys or headphone jack.
Otterbox commuter would get the job done. But it makes ur s4 a little bulky. Have to sacrifice that for good protection though.
I have the Spigen Neo case. It's not bulky at all but provides good protection. The case itself have buttons over the phone's buttons. I have a glass screen protector also and the 2 together is nice.

I went for a basic cheap case from dx.com, SKU: 200649. But it does cover all sides, the back, as well as some of the front, due to the overhang from the sides extending out the front. I got a few other cases with different materials at the same time, but this is the one I ended up liking the most.

I decided to get a metallic bumper. It does seem to mess with signal strength a bit, though.
But I guess it offers much more protection than rubber/silicone or plastic. It also held together tightly with a pin (You don't just slip the phone in. The bumper can pe opened at one corner, you put the phone in, then close the bumper using the pin). So it won't fly off on impact.
I think this combined with a glass screen protector will ensure optimal protection.
I am using a body glove 3 piece. It has a screen protector and a silicon/rubber outer cover. It was $25 dollars. It hasn't effected my signal and has survived a few falls. I know they sell them at Wal-Mart and Target.

So I'm moving from iOS back to android next week, with a new Note 4 on its way!
I used to have an S2 and enjoyed the hell out of trying custom ROM's, but I'll get on to that in a few weeks time!
First off though, of course, is getting the right case and accessories. All opinions and set-ups welcomed!
Keep in mind, I use my phone as SatNav as I drive a lot, daily. Things like flipcases would be irrelevant as I can only imagine how rubbish they are to mount in a car. Also, I like tough cases as long as they aren't too bulky. The CaseMate for iPad Mini's are incredible (iPad mini is a main tool in my business). Wireless charging seems intriguing, so I wouldn't mind looking into that. As long as it works through standard cases?
I've looked at the Spigen cases, they look ok. But there's an awful lot of mixed reviews on here.
So, dream scenarios people... what accessories and case should I go for??

The Spigen line look cool but I do find their insistence on 'Auto Focus' a little out of taste!
If you need a case then I can recommend Spigen as I have had them on many of my phones and loved them although I'm not a case user most of the time. I have the capsule for the Note 4 and I like it but with an already big phone it makes it bigger but not too much.
If you don't need a case then I would recommend the qi wireless charging back cover even if your not going to use wireless charging to charge the phone because to me it makes the phone feel better in hand.
If you are going to use wireless charging then I the Nexus magnetic charger looks good especially when used with a good dash mount.
Samsung spare battery kit is also good to have because it comes with a battery holder/charger and a slim holder as well.
samsung oem qi back cover, iblason armorbox case, itian wireless car charger, 3m scotch double sided outdoor tape, 3 coil desktop qi charger. thats all you need.
-Samsung Protective cover. I've tried many cases from Spigen, and other brands, but nothing beats the OEM cover for me.
-A pack of plastic screen protectors. Spigen, iSmooth, iCarez, Halo all fit well. I haven't been happy with any tempered glass protector.
-A decent Micro SD card that fits your storage needs.

Case since accidents happen, I use a 10$ caseology who's gaudy label came off with some rubbing alcohol.
Tempered glass screen protector if you're willing to get it at bestbuy, so they'll put it on and you can return it instantly if there's haloing. They tried four protectors until one worked, curved glass sucks.
High amp car charger for rapid charging, mpow is usually on sale. Mine was 8$.
I like a flat wireless receiver tucked behind the back door since I randomly find myself around wireless chargers, make sure it supports nfc if you use nfc.

Can anyone give some advice about a belt case/holster?

But, this don't usually last that long.

But, I'm unsure using it with a belt and in vertical orientation would it just get in the way, sitting down, driving etc?

I used to use belt holsters and cases but problem is this phone is so big the cases look like fanny packs Lol.
With that out of the way, I think the horizontal holders are better for when you sit down.
I'm using a Seidio CAPSA exoskeleton holster in horizontal orientation, with a UAG case. They fit perfectly together. If you search the forums someone on here has posted photos of this combination. If you rotate it to vertical it does get in the way a little when sitting down, so I use it horizontal.

I use an Otterbox Defender w/holster & don't have any issues sitting down w/ the phone in the landscape/horizon mode. I do take the phone off my belt in the car to use my Craig's Docks car dock/mount. I think your physique has a lot to do with the comfort of the phone when seated. I also have a horizontal nylon belt pouch I got from Amazon that fits the phone with the Defender case but I've never used it because I've had no problems with the Defender's holster. The nylon pouch would be very useful if you're in a warm climate & it's raining & you're outside a lot.
One thing I really like about the Defender holster is it allows the phone to be placed in the screen out position so I can see/use the screen when it's clipped on my belt (it's of course less protection than screen in but for me the functionality outweighs that). I do agree that the size of the N4 looks like you've got a tablet on your belt, it does look ridiculous but it is what it is.
The Defender is a high quality precision made case IMO and if you buy one online make sure you buy it either directly from Otterbox or directly from Amazon (not a third party reseller) as counterfeiting is rampant with them. Also you have to remove the included plastic screen protector & use something else for clarity & to prevent the constant dirt that accumulates through the opening for the home key w/ the installed screen protector.
I haven't used the exact same one that you listed, but I used a very similar design holster for my gs1 and that fake pleather material wore out pretty quick by the belt area. I can't believe I paid $15 for that. If you want to go vertical, I personally recommend it on the side. Would interfere if worn near the front. Out of those 2, I would say the nylon holster would last longer because of the 1000d cordura nylon, but I can't speak for the overall quality. The stitching might be shoddy and stuff could fall apart easily.
I used the supcase beetle case with holster, but the case and holster broke. The case could not take a huge impact. I wore the holster on my side horizontally and broke the belt clip getting out of the car. I am currently using a cheap otterbox defender type case with holster.

iv been using the seido surface for about 6-7 months now and its still working great, spring on the holster still seems as strong as brand new, and its pretty slim compared to the other case+holster combos. it provides plenty of protection, iv dropped my phone at least 10 times since november, each time onto hard surface floors from about waist high (im 5 foot 11), and each time i remove the case to see what damage i caused and surprised to see that my phone itself still it perfect cosmetic condition. no scratches or scuffs anywhere on the edges or corners. phone sits pretty snug into the clip, it has NEVER came off on its own. if something were to go wrong with this case ill definitely buy another one.

I have to initiate a chargeback w/ the bank that issued the credit card I used to get a refund. Seidio refunded zero.
Seido's online store is a joke if you have a problem w/ one of their products. By far the worst experience I've ever had purchasing online.
The Surface is a decent case but completely overpriced. Only reason I got one was to turn into the Surface w/ holster which was complete garbage, both the case & the holster. Everytime I moved the phone fell off the beltclip, is was unusable. And yes, I did have the case locked to the beltclip.
For the price Seidio charges for the Surface it should have rocker switch covers at a bare minimum. You can spend a fraction of the cost of a Surface & get a far nicer case.
Best Buy sells the Surface as their Platinum series at half the price Seidio charges.
IMO Seidio = garbage.

Ever since I starting using tactical pouches with my iPhone 5s, I have continued to do so with my Note 4. I use Maxpedition pouches, as they are made of 1050d ballistic nylon. They are quite excellent.|
When I'm at work, during my food vendering stuff, I use their TC-3 pouch. However, I rock their leg pouch for any other events. Since I run around with no case on my phone except for the leg pouch and the small pouch that my phone and cards slip in, I am quite pleased with the setup. Excellent durability and I can carry my expensive IEMs, wallet, phone, and a couple extras with no problem.

After a lot of head scratching I ordered the vertical case (2nd link in my OP).
I'll use it as a starting point and try other cases once I get my Note 4 through the post.
I'm just wondering if anyone is using the Unicorn beetle and what do you think of it? What is the built in screen protector like? Does it work well with wireless charging and does the screen protector fit tight to the screen?
I have the black and the blue, extraordinary protection, wireless charge compatibility, no expensive. The cons a little bulky, the screen protector is better than previous models but it is made of plastic and I need to clean it constantly, but its clear, without sensitivity issues and it's only protection is versus scratches.
With the black, I replaced the plastic and used a White dome instead but I think that the thicknes of the glass was not compatible with the case and few weeks after the adhesive of the dome rip off.
Is it as good as an Otterbox defender though?

I have almost the same phone cover (looks the same) as you, mine is SUPCASE CLAYCO XENON and it is magnificent!

Although, I had removed the Plastic Screen Protector.
I never liked that and will Not use a Plastic Screen Protector ever.
They scratch easily.

Ok, how about the basics: The button response is fantastic. Best response I've ever had in a case and a really smart design. One star for that. The fit is also fantastic, one star for that.
Now... If you are thinking about purchasing this item, keep in mind whether you did it through a signature on a contract, or you forked over your hard earned cash you are now the proud owner of a $1500 device which at time of writing is superior to 99% of the others you could have chosen.
With that factoid in mind, you really need to stop for a second before pressing that purchase button and ask yourself why you have given yourself the rolls royce of phone experiences if you are going to put the kingswood of phone cases on it?
From the second you take this thing out of the box, all the illusions of SUPCASE's snazzy manufacturer website, high quality rendered images and romantic illusions of ruggedizing your handset will fall away to dust. This case is plastic-fantastic and it is immediately obvious that you have just made a terrible mistake.
I'm not sure which case my fellow reviewers have received but I will have to assume it was one that SUPCASE paid for themselves.
The 'screen protector' seems to be made out of discarded freezer bag and glued in to the front section by a blind man with a hot glue gun. It feels cheap, it looks cheap...it is cheap. No big deal, you can rip it out in 2 seconds flat and fit a proper 9H glass protector.
Even after that, you are still carrying your $1500 phone around in a flimsy piece of plastic that looks every bit like the $5 price tag it SHOULD carry.
The dirt-quality plastic is thinly veiled in form, but in function it will not be long until the hinges of the kickstand mechanism are loose and weak. The stand itself is manufactured out of such poor, thin, flimsy material that it is nothing more than a momentary novelty, not long of this earth.
Dust protection: Yes. It has flaps over the charge port and headphone jack. The flaps are insanely stiff, which makes me think they put their entire materials budget into the internal rubberised liner which is actually stiff enough to put undue pressure on the charge cable to the point that I will not use them. They also put them right next to 2 gaping holes for the speaker port and S-Pen meaning any perceived dust prevention is pure fantasy. They will keep large debris out of the hole if you spend a lot of time in the bush, which is half the reason I bought this case.
"Oh, nevermind, I only charge wirelessly - I don't care if the port covers are stiff, I hardly ever use them!" I can almost hear the thought running through your head. Well, allow me to break that illusion.
SUPCASE have managed to do what almost no other manufacturer has been able to! Build a case that does not work with wireless charging unless you have the official Samsung horizontal charger and are prepared to spend a bit of time figuring out exactly the right spot to place it every time. So, you're going to need to worry about those port covers after all.
Why would anyone want a wireless charging solution that lays their phone dead flat? Most utilise an upright design which allows you to easily view notifications etc on a desk, or on a night stand. This thing even blocks my 15w upright charger, I'm not even sure how they managed that because I'm pretty sure you could cook eggs on it if they had an induction coil.
Overall, SUPCASE have really let themselves down here. The design is fantastic. It is reminiscent of the Samsung Active lineup in styling. There's a great lip top and bottom to prevent the screen from contacting the ground in a drop, it's well cradled in the rubber section and I do actually have a tiny bit of faith the phone could survive a drop in this case. Why they had to go and build the bulk of it out of the cheapest materials available I will never know. I would have paid double if they'd done the job properly. Now I'm out of pocket and will end up paying twice.
