I searched far and wide for the perfect smart watch this is not it.
Looks bit cheap and the screen too small but today I feel it is the best.
This and the LG Sport "I could not find in the US and is not on sale in Canada" are one of the few watches that support Android Pay.
Android Pay is great on my watch.
The battery life appears to be excellent I usually use about 30% in one day.
Screen always on, use ambient mode.
Everything continuous HR, Wifi, NFC "needed for Android Pay" is always on
I have not turned down the screen.
Excellent battery life, has a speaker, all the sensors this is the best device yet.
To each his own. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Yes, it ist not so beautiful, but it looks nicer in real life than in photos and it is very light and confortable to wear. And has a lot of sensors. Sadly we dont have android pay in Sweden yet.
How can i test Android Pay... At home?

What do you mean with Ambiente Mode and how do I get it
does anyone have issues with the battery?
the battery on mine is gone strange, when i put it charging the battery will be drained then have to hard reset the watch only then the battery will start charging again but if for any reason the charging is interrupted the battery will drain.
I have done factory defaults didn't do anything for it but if i clear battery cache the watch will be fine for a few days and then the issue come back.
is my watch the only one that have this issue? I am returning it but wanted to either get a replacement or the gear S3 but the lack of android pay is disappointing and google....

i used lots of extended batteries but not a 5200 size yet so i was leary of size and weight and most about back cover but i was very please with all 3. fit and feel were perfect for me so no issues there. cover has a gloss finish that shows some smudges but thats to be expected imo. price was $21.99 and free shipping which i thought was reasonable then after using it for 1 full cycle i really liked the price.back cover is also easy to remove and its much stronger than stock samsung cover which i also liked. overall i'm very pleased with the unit. got some pics to try and show some views of size/finish and overall usage stats. these stats are from 100% on first charge. i'm on second charge and stats thus far are even better and i will try to update this thread with those stats. if i missed anything you guys wanna know please ask or pm me. also forgot to add NFC (Near Field Communication): a set of standards for establishing communication between smart devices. The function is applied broadly in contactless transactions (such as Google Wallet), data exchange, simpler Wi-Fi setup, and more.
Why does it dip and come back up ? You charged it? What ROM is this?
Do a test without being on WiFi the whole time and without plugging it in.

I was thinking that you mean on Stock Firmware and all aps that man yould use i with all of that i think i got point here i was using CM and AOSP and my bat was great but without bunch of things
Actually looks pretty good to be fair. good to know you have wifi on 24/7 and screen brightness on full. 2days + with that sort of usage is great, despite what some people have put. especially for a 5200.
just as a note, can you say what apps you've used / how often through the day.
e.g. i use facebook for a good few hours.
emails check and sync regularly.
couple of hours every day browsing xda forums.
etc etc etc
that kind of thing i got myself a 7500 zero lemon battery and it is so very bulky, so im thinking about downsizing slightly to something thats still going to perform well. this looks like a good candidate
why is the last photo photoshopped to be thinner?
Pay $2 more for Anker brand IMO
Hi i want to share my experience so here it is.
i bought this battery from ebay:
make a search for "2450mAh Gold High Capacity Battery For AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-i727" att ebay
I was worryed when i read here on xda that some foreign battery sellers just say that there battery is high capacity
and put a sticker on low capacity battery's and sell them as High capacity battery's.
but i had then bought this battery and after testing this battery fore some days now, and it give me around 5 to 6 hour
more than the 1800mAh battery that comes whit the phone. (normal use of the phone)
and it do fit in the phone no extra back cower needed . that is a pluss... if you ask me..
and there is also an app on the Google play store called "Deep sleep battery saver"
that gives me around 1 to 2 hours more .
read more about it here.

If you are like me and can not get the battery to last the hole day thees 2 things will help you .
That looks sketchy as hell. :-/ I'd be afraid to put that in my phone..
I got the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Extended 2100 mAh battery from Amazon for 9 bucks, and now it's on sale for 5 bucks.. After a little trimming and peeling back the sticker, it fits without a new back and there's only a slight bulge, and the case I had still fits around it nicely too. I'm definitely seeing an improvement, at least getting an extra two or three hours out of it.

My tips to longer battery life are pretty simple.
Without apps: keep your gps off when you're not using an app that requires it, period. Use auto brightness or keep your brightness at dim as possible that doesn't irritate you. Use dark theme for apps that support it. Disable data when in weak signal zones.
Alternatively you could use a data manager app which does all this. 3G manager - battery saver is decent. It has a blue icon and is only 9 9 cents. There are adequate settings for the cost. If you're a do it yourself kind of guy tasker is pretty cool. Personally I use tasker as it offers me more than just battery saving. For me it handles volumes for certain calendar entries, toggles bluetooth on and off when I need it, auto launches and kills screen dimmer during sleep time when I turn on my phone to check the time. However, there are some functions that seem slightly broke that leaves me pondering the price but overall it's good.
Keep in mind if your battery weak the only thing you can really do to save battery is to reduce unnecessary phone activity as much as you can. My skyrockets battery is toast but only drains about 65% in a day of a work+night. Day off, different story, not so good.
Hate to be a buzz kill folks, but discuss battery saving tips or use the accessories thread for actual battery discussion.
Not going to allow arguments about which battery is best, etc....in here.
Thanks for your understanding.
I have learned to live near a charger....I have one in my car, at work and at home.

Next time, just buy an ad.
PS, that battery looks like something that will rupture and detonate my phone. Not a chance that it goes anywhere near my Rocket.
I spent a long time optimizing the crap out of my skyrocket. I disabled half the OS, and turned off wake-locks for much of the rest. I got it to the point where the phone was sleeping like a baby.
Then I would actually use it, and watch the battery meter drop like a stone. I have gotten used to basically being tethered to a charger when using it for anything other than basic stuff. It's what finally convinced me to make the leap to my current phone. Otherwise, I still love my skyrocket. It has been one heck of a device.
I will say that disabling wake locks for Google Play Services made a huge difference, though. They set the timers way to intense on that.
If i want a non OEM battery i always buy anker batteries!
for my skyrocket i have one with 2200mAh and two year warranty
batteries is something that you never settle for!
OK, so here is the deal.
I have a 3 year old M7 that has served me so well, but, an upgrade is needed. The battery life is so terrible now after a degraded battery, and I just cant get it replaced, and there's scratches here and there, and the speaker kinnda messes with me, so does the mic. In general, I would like an upgrade.
But, a major factor for me is battery life.
Don't get me wrong, I don't play games much, almost none. The only thing I do do is SMS, use FB Messenger, and Skype with my gf sometimes (Skype is a huge battery hog for everyone, so I'm not measuring battery on this one). The problem though is; in my country, new phones are ridiculously overpriced, so I can't really hope to upgrade to an M10 because it will cost me a fortune since I'm a student as well .
HTC A9 looks by design a beautiful smartphone to me, and by the specs it is waaaaaay better than the M7. But I'm wondering, like I said, about the battery life. 5 inch screen with 2150 battery? How is that working out?
I would like to have more screen on time than this M7 2 hours screen on time, and I can get through the day just fine with this but I would like to have more. At the end of the day I'm left with a 30% battery with my usage on messenger and web browsing and stuff like that, so I'm not a power user or anything, I'm a casual .
So basically, what I'm asking is; Can this A9 give me at least 4-5 hours of SOT with FB Messenger or web browsing ?
I'm getting about 4hrs screen on time on a heavy day for me and it just about does that, standby is very very good for me, my usual day is unplug at 6:30 AM about 1.5hrs screen on time plug back in at about 11:30pm usually with about 40% ish left, I had m7 then m8 missed m9 but I would consider that over this A9 if I was looking again, nothing wrong with this a9 but I prefer the look and feel of the M range but that's purely personal

Would also add this A9 is noticeably smoother than my m8 which I still have...

Battery is pretty good here despite the small battery, I unplug at 6:00 AM, moderately use it, plug it back in at about 3:00 PM at about 20%, and then it's fine until I plug it back in at about 10:00 PM
Hi guys! Iam tempted on buying the gear S3 here but its ridiculously expensive where i live and therefore it needs to be near perfect for me to justify the purchase! My main concern is battery life (more so the actual phone then the watch) I understand the theory that your inclined to check your phone less and therefore your phones battery goes further but iam interested in how much actual screen on time your losing!! For example.... If you charge your phone to 100% and you connect your gear s3 to it and leave it for 24hours and in that time you don't use your phone at all! How much would your battery have dropped after 24 hours?
Iam a massive battery junkie and i love how good my phones battery is and for me personally i would rather not use the gear s3 if its gonna kill my phones battery! Even a 1% drop an hour to me would bordering on too much as that would equate to a 24% drop on your phone in 24hours without using ur phone at all!
I normally get 4 days use out of my battery, however I recharge after about 3 days.

It's insignificant unless you're using GPS. I really notice no difference at all.

Not literally none obviously, but it is so little that I don't notice it. Less than 1% per hour.
I did a six hour hike the other day, logging the hike on the watch and S-health did take a more noticeable hit on the battery. Like more than 10% but I don't recall that happening on other hikes.
I think the S3 is the best smartwatch currently available. I've had mine for six months and am still very happy with it. But you said a couple of things in your post that give me pause. While I'm OK with spending $350 USD on what is essentially a phone accessory, the S3 is far from the "near perfect" that you may be expecting. Furthermore, your obsession with battery efficiency is a trait that you may find very irritating with smartwatches. Obviously you can do what you want, but I would be remiss if I didn't suggest caution regarding your expectations.
4% per night without wearing
Hi
I am considering swapping my Pebble Time to Gear S3.
I am concerned about battery life ( which is 8-9 days with Pebble ). I read that after Tizen 3 S3 battery got worse.
How is it finally ? I do not care about fitness apps or GPS. Mainly I will use S3 as extension for notifications from phone.
I'm a "moderate" users. I use it mostly as a watch, and to check notifications during the day.
probably check the time around 10 times a day, 10-25 email/text/phone call notifications per day.
At the end of the day I typically have 70-72% battery life remaining. I use a mostly black background,
white numbers for the clock.
Tizen 3 will give you 2 days of usage maybe less, used to be 4 days before the update. It is also laggy.
My advice is to wait Gear S4, it is around the corner with better battery, bluetooth 5 and overall hardware.

battery it is draining abnormally fast for me. i get only up to 10 hours just wearing it, usually less. battery stats showing s-health using 60-70% battery even with no heart rate monitoring or workout detection. it is crazy, doesn't samsung test their products any more? tizen 2.* was really good, i got at least 2-3 days out of it easily with all the bells and whistles going on but after 3.* it has been pure misery and seems to be getting worse.

The "problem" I have with the 4, based on "leaks" is they are said to be incorporating a "larger" battery into the wrist strap. IF that ends up being the case, I will probably pass on the Gear 4 because I don't like the "buckle" type resin wrist straps. I prefer the all metal one piece wrist straps.
Maybe they will make two versions. One with the removable/replaceable strap, standard battery, and one with the non removable strap, extended battery.
