RAVPower® 5200mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy S4 - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

i used lots of extended batteries but not a 5200 size yet so i was leary of size and weight and most about back cover but i was very please with all 3. fit and feel were perfect for me so no issues there. cover has a gloss finish that shows some smudges but thats to be expected imo. price was $21.99 and free shipping which i thought was reasonable then after using it for 1 full cycle i really liked the price.back cover is also easy to remove and its much stronger than stock samsung cover which i also liked. overall i'm very pleased with the unit. got some pics to try and show some views of size/finish and overall usage stats. these stats are from 100% on first charge. i'm on second charge and stats thus far are even better and i will try to update this thread with those stats. if i missed anything you guys wanna know please ask or pm me. also forgot to add NFC (Near Field Communication): a set of standards for establishing communication between smart devices. The function is applied broadly in contactless transactions (such as Google Wallet), data exchange, simpler Wi-Fi setup, and more.

Why does it dip and come back up ? You charged it? What ROM is this?
Do a test without being on WiFi the whole time and without plugging it in.

I was thinking that you mean on Stock Firmware and all aps that man yould use i with all of that i think i got point here i was using CM and AOSP and my bat was great but without bunch of things

Actually looks pretty good to be fair. good to know you have wifi on 24/7 and screen brightness on full. 2days + with that sort of usage is great, despite what some people have put. especially for a 5200.
just as a note, can you say what apps you've used / how often through the day.
e.g. i use facebook for a good few hours.
emails check and sync regularly.
couple of hours every day browsing xda forums.
etc etc etc
that kind of thing i got myself a 7500 zero lemon battery and it is so very bulky, so im thinking about downsizing slightly to something thats still going to perform well. this looks like a good candidate

why is the last photo photoshopped to be thinner?
Pay $2 more for Anker brand IMO

Stable rom

I badly need a stable rom with CM7 features, which has a battery life of atleast 24 hours. Oxygen was really nice and fast but i missed the CM7 lockscreen gestures.
For the past week i have been using NSCollab. Really love the rom, Fast and exceptionally stable. Set cpu governor on "Smartass" My data is always turned on so the battery drain was quite high ( Check the screenshot). So after a full day of college, came back home in the evening and battery was 9%. . I play games, send texts and call usage is like 1-1.5 hours a day.
Any suggestions on which rom i should try now?. Is Cm7 good?
Also, has anyone tried a different kernel for NSCollab?
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm using my new Nx-S just for the few days, but i choosed before MIUI ROM from Brainmaster and its very smooth, fast and stable.

It was on for some 1 hour.
I use wifi + 3G all the day, 45minutes of calls, some sms, no games and if I unplug phone at 6:30 and plug it now - its 22:52 it still has about 50% of batt. life. Also using SetCPU profiles with screen of etc..
I am using superosr
superosr seem to have cm7 stuff in it and its fast stable and good on battery life.
http ://cdn.movilzona.es/repos/supera...S-2.0.2-AW.zip version 2.0.6 is out today too but i have not check it yet.
i found that verson 2.0.6 was way to buggy for my useage but I am waiting for the next one to come out now . i heard they are working on 2.3.7 that doesnt have the camera bug
Buy an extra battery from Samsung. You won't have to worry about it anymore. At 560 INR, they're cheap! I picked up two. So now, I have one charging at home, and one fully charged in my back pocket. Bye bye battery worries! Hello heavy usage!

Yep, people need to stop complaining about battery life and take advantage of the fact that Android phones have a replaceable battery. I can't recommend it enough! If you've paid a pretty penny for your device, shell out that tiny bit extra and make it so you can use it to it's full potential.

Thoughts on Anker 2800mAh extended battery?

http://www.amazon.com/Anker-2800mAh..._1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1334003101&sr=1-2
And for Canadians:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Anker-2800mA...094292?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item336f077ed4
Any thoughts on this battery? Has anyone tried it out? I've heard good things about the Anker 1550mAh battery for the O2X/G2X, so I'm kind of optimistic about this one. However, I recently ordered a GTMax 3500mAh from Amazon.ca, so I'll reserve my decision on purchasing this one until I'm able to test that one out.

I have a cheapo Amazon "3500mah" battery which after testing turned out to be only a little over 2000 mah however the Anker batteries appear to not bullsh¡t about their numbers so I would say using logic and past experience that it would be legit and worth it if you want the extra junk in your trunk ( or pocket)

Don't be quick to be hating on the bohemoth.
I have found that when you first get a new battery there is a "break in" period. Not that this time will make any difference in performance long term but it normally takes a few charges or even as many as 10 to reach its peak mah capacity.
This has been documented on a few threads in this forum.

Yup. Will do. I've seen a lot of people talk up battery monitor widget, so I installed it on my current battery to get used to how it works and so I have some old data to compare to.
I also started using Juice Defender. Hopefully that doesn't skew the data. Well, I guess technically it doesn't matter as long as it skews it the same way.
Anyway, Amazon currently estimates a Wednesday - Thursday arrival date of next week. I'll update asap!

Right on yeah I'm a big jd fan too. Pisses me off from time to time but the 1.7x battery life is totally worth it for me. As far as I have seen there is no interference between jd and bmwp thanks for the update
Pin it to Win it.
Pretty sure JD is a necessity to Android; everyone I know has it and loves it (including me)
Related note: I received the GTMax 3500mAh I mentioned in the first post and am currently taking it through some cycles. I gotta say that it's a very noticeable improvement. I'm only on the first cycle, so we'll see if it gets better/worse. I'll be sure to post a comparison between the two (stock and extended) once I've had at least five full cycles.
Ok.. got my battery last night! First off, the place that shipped it got it here on Monday when Amazon estimated Wednesday at first, then moved it to Friday. So I'm already impressed with the third party provider.
Photos are attached.
First is the G2x with regular battery (and no TPU case that I normally keep it in)
Second is the 2800 mAh battery sticking in it for reference
Third is with the 2800 mAh case on.
I charged to 100 yesterday, and it's been running for the last 23 ½ hours, and it's at 40% currently. I've been using the hell out of it too just trying to kill it: Draw Something, Defender, texts, google chats, email, WiFi on all the time (but again, JD is running).
It's obviously bottom-heavy now with this beast in it, so that's taking some getting used to. I actually like it when the phone is being held vertically, but it kind of drives me crazy when I'm holding it horizontally. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
One thing that screws with all my plans - LG released 2.3.4 update yesterday too before I knew this battery was here, so I unrooted, flashed the updated and re-rooted. I'm now running 2.3.4 stock/root rather than my EB AOSP ISC ROM I was running before. I thought I'd have 3-4 days before the battery was here.
Anyway, more updates as I manage to kill this thing and see how it goes.
EDIT - going to bed. 29 and a half hours into first charge, at 30% currently. Will update tomorrow after work, once I 0 it out and recharge.
EDIT - 44 hours on first charge, almost exactly. Monday night at 7:47 to Wednesday afternoon at 3:51. Starting charge up now.
EDIT 3 - Uploading some usage photos. I think I'm an idiot when it comes to Battery Monitor Widget. Frankly most of this just doesn't mean anything to me, and the place I think I should see mAh estimate shows nothing. Anyway, this is normal daily usage - mostly some chatting, email, WiFi (because work appears to be build in some kind cellular Faraday Cage), lots of Draw Something, Temple Run and Defender 2. For some reason Defender doesn't show up.
Edit 4 - These screens were taken at 6%, and it easily could have lasted more time. I just wanted to charge it up and be done for the night.
Anyway, after a week or so of using this, I think it's a solid battery, but one that I'll probably pack away as a spare for weekend trips when I don't have access to a charger. I have dedicated chargers at home and work, so battery life isn't much of a concern.
For $12 I got this battery, a free USB "universal" card reader, and very fast shipping. Totally worth it.
Sounds really promising so far. The thickness is about identical to the 3500mAh one I got, but the Anker seems to outperform the GTMax so far if I compare your experience to mine.
How's the temperature? Is there a sensor?

Battery Monitor Widget measures the temperature, though I don't know how accurate it is.
I've not seen it pass 26 degrees. Stock was running 34.5 degrees when I popped it out.
Yeah I know BMW measures temp, but when you look at the graph does it show any fluctuation at all? BMW gets the temperature information from the battery's built-in temperature sensor. If it doesn't have one, all the graph will show is a straight line.
This GTMax battery gets pretty warm. Especially when charging. I'm charging it right now and the temperature is about 41C... which is hotter than the stock.
I'm definitely leaning towards this anker battery now

Those estimates aren't correct. My JD was telling me 1.9x battery, but I stopped using it and my battery lasts longer because the phone doesn't wake up every thirty minutes.

Has anybody found a battery case that works?

I looked all over eBay and all I see are cases for the international HOX and I really want to be able to have one that works for our phone. I remember mugen mentioning that they would have one out already, but they said that over a month ago. Are companies not making it because HTC's sales in the recent quarter was extremely low compared to the projected numbers? If anybody has found one please let me know I love everything about this phone but I hate lugging around a charger, and I don't always have access or the time to plug it in.
PS I don't want to hear anybody come in and say they get 4 hours of screen time blah blah blah on whatever mods they do. That's great, but 4 hours of screen time equals about 6 hours of total usage which is only half the day for me. I'm a college student and I do a lot on my phone whether it be in class taking notes, or on conference calls.
And I'm not complaining about the phone, just lack of this particular accessory. I believe this is a damn near perfect phone I just want the juice to make it even more perfect!
There's no battery cases that are either good or work for the S4 variant as the pins are placed differently.
There are however external battery packs that are relatively small and provide a punch. Had one for the Sammy Vibrant and was super easy to hide in back pack, as you are a college student.

Haven't fully tested, but judging by the MaH, I would expect to be able to charge it two or three times over at least.
Actually judging by the mah I'd say it would charge it around 4 times.
10,000/1,800 is a little more than 5 so its safe to assume 4 times over.

These external chargers actually lose quite a bit of power in translation... I think I remember reading it's a 35% loss but don't remember exactly, so that 10000 mah is really more like 6500 for the phone (somewhere along those lines, anyways).

S3 extended battery debate

Well after having spent most of the morning searching battery reviews, I have concluded no one knows crap. I have found the 3000 or the 4500, both have mixed reviews and then the mophie case.
My question, are either worth buying? The size extension is no problem, I am just looking for an extra 4 to 6 hours of time out of my phone between charges.

This one should be the one to get, longest battery capacity and protective case in one with a dirt cheap price. Can't beat that. The issue with all other extended battery is once installed, you no longer have phone protection case, but not with ZeroLemon.:good:
Sorry I didn't clarify. By time I meant getting more total time: both on and off screen with moderate use (15 to 20 min per hour on screen) on the browser, this forum app(or others like it), and maybe some light gaming like bejeweled or solitaire.
I know calculating time is always sporadic, but now I am getting a longer list of options to look into that people like. Best form of advertising is word of mouth

Lithium Ion batteries last the longest if you keep them between ~80% and ~20% charge. Extremes are bad, so if you are maxing out your battery performance consider a larger battery that allows you to stay within that middle 60% performance envelope
I can only get sbout 8 hours screen time on my sg3 with 3000 mah while others get more is there something I need to set different
I dont recommend anyone get a cheap ass one off of ebay. My friend bought me a battery and a dock that charges both my phone AND a battery an extra battery which was awesome of him. but he clearly bought a cheap battery from ebay most probably and it doesnt really hold much charge anymore. it's definitely great for emergencies, but it doesnt last nearly as long as my original battery does.
can anyone confirm if the 3000 for the international fits our version?

Get the ZeroLemon, you will not be sorry. Last night ran on a day and a half with 13 hrs screen time. Best battery hands down.

Who really needs 13 hours of screen time? All I need is enough power to get me through the day. I had a 4400mah battery and briefly tried a ZeroLemon. After a few months of carrying around a brick, I picked up the Samsung 3000mah battery and couldn't be happier.
Too many people get hung up on screen time as if it's some sort of competition. I'll take my slimmer phone over more screen time than I would ever use in a day.

My hands are just fine, thanks. The phone is a brick with the larger extended batteries and almost nobody has the need for that much power, so what's the point? If bragging about screen time is important to you, rock on with your bad self and the brick in your pocket.

Screen time is the actual time that you used the phone, so if a phone last for 1 day but screen time is only 1 hrs then the other 23 hrs it's sitting in your pocket. I agree that Zerolemon is not for everyone, it designed for people that need to use their phones all day long, like my buddy, he's in the construction business and he definitely need this brick. If you don't need it because you're not on the phone that much, then nothing to talk about and you shouldn't even come into this thread.

best battery option without adding bulk

I was wondering if anyone can recommend to me a good extended battery that doesn't add bulk or the requirement of a special backplate to the s4?
I don't seem to have as much success as most people here on the phone with battery life, and if i'm lucky I make it to 3 hrs screen on time on each battery (I carry around spare batteries but this is still annoying).
Appreciate the recommendations

I don't believe there are any options for extended battery without bulk. You could do the zerolemon 3000 mah batteries. You get two of those and then you could always have a spare battery ready to swap when the other one dies. Other than that, you're going to add bulk if you want an extended battery.

I would advise you not to use batteries by this brand. I've opened up an extended battery they made for the i9300 and discovered that they use spacers to add weight to the batteries instead of using two batteries like the reputable brands(anker, hyperion, zerolemon). The closest you would get to an extended battery is the 3000mah zerolemon.
The battery arrived today and I am giving it the first charge. I will see how it goes and report. I hope it does not mess up my device ...
So far I am using it for 30-40 minutes and it is charging and charge progress seems normal and the temperature also.
I will be back after a couple of days to share the whole experience

Would like to know how it performs as well
If its got a 2 year performance warranty they must be pretty confident in it
On their site it says i9500 ,does it work with i9505 and it fits on original back case ? I would buy it instantly if i could get over 4+hrs on screen with stock rom my max with stock rom is 3.5 but awerage is 3hrs.

It depends on your screen brightness. I am using an 100% stock rom. I get on a full day around 5 hours screen on time with my brightness ranging from 0% to up to 20%.
I also tried this, use the phone with the brightness set to 0%. I managed a staggering 1 hour screen on time while just losing 15% (was whatsapping for an hour).
I don't like the stock battery life as I have to recharge my phone twice a day.... I usually go leave the house at 7AM and come back at around 6PM with around 10% left. Then, I charge it fully and by time I go to bed, the phone already has lost around 40% battery (I use the speaker alot and download Torrents). Then I start chatting with friends in bed and go to sleep with around 10-20% left on the same day (although that's at around 2AM). Thus, even with my battery life, I can't make a full day.
Although I must say, I am a heavy user. I use whatsapp, browser, music player, snapchat, facebook and the camera to take pictures alot on a daily basis. I use my phone with the lowest brightness possible as long as I can see what's on the screen to prolong the battery life.
@hare899500 and 9505 has the same battery

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.
I use the Opteka exclusively and am able to get a full day, but it depends on how you use your phone.
They don't advertise a huge upgrade, it's only marginal. you will not get anything above ~2800-3000mAh to fit inside the existing back cover.
That being said, I have yet to have any issue with the Opteka brand.
They also make camera batteries and accessories.

So you think it is better than stock?
Going to replace my original at some point. I never really have issues, though. But they are so cheap I might as well do it before it starts to become a problem, I only go above an hour or two of screen time when I travel by air (can't imaging spending 20%+ of my waking life looking at a 5" screen...don't know how you guys can stand it, lol).
i have polarcell 2900mAh battery for about 2 months, and I am really pleased with it.
Ok, I dont have stock rom, but compared to stock battery it gave me a great results.
About 35 hours without charge, and 2h 40min screen on
Good luck with this one. Most ebay battery is faking the capacity, if the size is just same as the original battery, there is no way it can be 3000mah, u can't beat the physics law.
But I just got another ZNC battery from amazon for $3.99 for a deal [I'm a new user, can't post the link here, if you guys interested, can search 'ZNC battery' at amazon to get the deal]. I have been using it for 3 days from now, works great so far and last just like the original one. I'll report it back this weekend, if I got time for the capacity test.
