Strange Problem - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I ve got this strange problem - a friend has a KD MTCD RK3188 unit and he needed a hand doing a few things, as I have a lot of experience with MTCB/C units he asked me for help.
He had remapped a couple of keys and wanted them changed and wanted the RGB LEDs on (they were set to one colour). So I went into factory settings and remapped the keys and set the LEDs to RGB, but then unit wouldnt boot - the LEDs flashed once and that was it, nothing.
So I went into recovery and updated the MCU to a later version, still the same, so then I updated the ROM and the MCU to the latest, the updates went fine, I wiped data/cache several times, but still the unit wont boot to system, only recovery.
I find this weird cos its kind of bricked but at the same time not because all the updates were successful.
It would seem that, strangely, remapping the buttons/turning on RGB LED (they are deffo RGB - the colour has changed) has caused this, anyone know if theres a way to restore factory MCU settings ?
Or of course there could be a problem with the screen . . .
Anyone got any ideas

After updating mcu/rom, did you wait till 20 minutes for the reboot?
You could try to install malaysk rom or original firmware

No, I didnt wait 20 mins.
I installed the latest firmware, I cant see how an older firmware or Malaysk's will help - the updates install ok, but I just cant see the screen.
EDIT: I left it overnight and still the same problem.

Did the unit freeze in Lollipop logo or the next One?
I had remapped physical buttons and i had no problem (mine is a KD unit).
Last temptative: use another mcu (I tried the JY mcu and booted well).
If you search in forum, another user and i interchanged mcu with no problem (you Can find in KD thread)

No it didnt freeze, it just totally failed to boot.
I ve tried 3 MCUs.
But I have just found an mcu.cfg file on an sd card which may very well sort things out . . .

I wanna Say: otherwise try with another type of mcu.
Good luck

Yay - the mcu.cfg file sorted it !
Cant see how changing what I did in factory settings would stop the unit booting, but still.
And the MCU and ROM updates I did whilst the unit was "dead" worked, now running the latest ROM and MCU.

Ok, but unless its the exact same one as the one I used it on it might not work because the buttons might be different, do you have a picture of your unit ?

Right, this one os custom fit VW/Skoda/Seat so the button layout will be different, not sure if it will work.

Hi guys, i have the same identical problem. After changing color led and boot logo in factory settings of my headunit doesn't reboot anymore, its remaining on the black screen in bootloop. I tryed to flash mcu /rom many times but nothing to do. In the rear shift its showing camera screen , after that black again. Now i ask some user of my same headunit to send me the mcu.cfg because i thinging that is the problem. My headunit also is specific vw canbus decoder, erisin es6405v px5 kgl model. I need this mcu.cfg file.

I could send you my file if you want, but as I said before its the specific config that your unit had thats needed really. Think its best practise to make and mcu.cfg file and put it somewhere safe as soon as you get a unit.
The canbus decoder isnt really relevant and nor is the board type really, this is an MCU problem.. Its not an Erisin, BTW Erisin are sellers only, you have a KGL.

Of course KGL unit, but in this way you can see the model if is the same. Thank you.

So you check my KGL headunit model and you think it is compatible with the mcu config file you have? For what unit is exactly that backup?

I dont think its the type of MCU that matters, its the config - how all the settings were on my friend's unit were set and if yours was different it may not help, although having said that it might.

I already said earlier in this thread, a VW JY unit, but as I said the mcu.cfg file simply sets the configuration of the MCU - it stores all the factorys settings.
I also said to another user it would be no good for his (different style to my friend's MTCD) unit - I think it could theoretically work on any MTCD MCU regardless of from which manufacturer, but if the mcu.cfg DOES work on any MTCD, the mcu.cfg file from my friend's unit may not necessarily sort out your problem - the settings on my friend's unit may not restore yours.

Solved. It was the same problem, changing rgb color in factory settings will brick the unit. I recovered my headunit using the dmcu.cfg file from the same unit model, thanks to @wolfymozart. :good:

Interesting, the unit I had the problem with is for VW group cars some of which have blues dash lights, some red and some blue, so they should be RGB.

Proximity sensor and Front Facing Camera problems on Marshmallow

Hi everybody!
I recently got a very good deal for a Nexus 5, and I decided to retire my old Moto G XT1032.
However, after upgrading to Android MM, I encoutered the following problems:
1) Proximity sensors wasn't working properly --> disabled via xposed module
2) Front facing camera keeps crashing --> I haven't found a solution yet. Is there a way to bring it back to life without downgrading to Lollipop?
problem solved --> clearing cache and data did the trick.... hopefully it will last.

Yep, everything was working properly on Lollipop (I still have a nandroid backup of that ROM).
I installed via TWRP. Bootloader and radio are the latest available (hhz12k + 2.0.50.2.28).
Thanks for your help!

PX5 has the 8-core rx3688, right? 2gb ram, android 6?
maybe that's the reason it fails...
Could someone please post the stock radio apk from stock 5.1.1 rom? Thanks in advance.

Edit: app can't be controlled via steering wheel buttons, so back to original for me..

[SOLVED] Doubts about battery and update on new Honor 6x

Hi l've two questions:
- After I unbox the honor 6x I should put it in charge?
- First thing I want to do is to update to Android N. I need a factory reset after the update?
Thanks in advance!
Inviato dal mio ASUS_Z00LD utilizzando Tapatalk
Hi, so for your 1st question an immediate charge doesn't matter that much. Generally stay between 20 and 80% when possible, to preserve battery life.
2nd question: you don't really need that, for example i didn't made a factory reset from MM to N and everything goes well, but once you've updated to Nougat you could do one factory reset just to let the OS "stabilize" better with the phone... It wouldn't change much, but I've seen some people advising that after an update.

Noob question, if I do the reset after the update I will stay on N right? It doesn't turn back to M.
Curiosity, out of the box how many updates i have to do? How much is big the N update?
Inviato dal mio ASUS_Z00LD utilizzando Tapatalk
Obviously yes, you'll remain on N. Well the full update package it's around 2,47GB, if you update step by step via system update the package could be lighter since than it'll extrapolate only necessary files to upgrade, but since that it's a full version update more than an update regarding security patches, ecc. i think that it'll be around the size that i mentioned above. You need to update only once, the most recent package will be automatically downloaded in way that you won't have to do manually one update after another.

I think sim is needed..may be to register the phone on network. Haven't tried yet without sim but I think sim is needed to register the imei on network and to have oem send the update based on IMEI.

To me it isn't bro. Time ago it was possible, especially because the OEM server can recognize by itself the IMEI of the device that is asking for the update, so it'll automatically sent the correct package to the phone. The SIM is surely required for everything that could evee require a network related function, or setting. The WiFi method will work

So you are on Marshmallow, and you didn't received notifications about updates yet? There was two updates on the road, B360 and B365, the latest for this build. Whoa so things have changed, have you tried to search it with a sim inserted? Otherwise you could try to force the update by going on system update -> clicking on the 3 dots in the upper right corner -> select download latest update, to check if something is found.

For every new phone I had ever since I was allowed to have one, I always drain the battery on first use. After that, I do my regular routine of 20% minimum to charge.

For first batteries yeah, it was correct to give a first full charge after a complete discharged battery, i used to do the same. Nowadays batteries works differently, and li-po batteries doesn't require this anymore; it's worst to let the battery reach 0% because it will burn ions capacity faster than maintaining it between 20-80%

MI MIX 3 ITA - 10.0.11.0 : tons of BUGS

I do not see anything online yet but I would have to report "tons of bugs"!
I'm very disappointed but I reserve to do an hard format when I get the bootloader key.
At the moment i see:
1a) QUICK REPLY broken on many apps, Whatsapp on all in my case.
1b) QUICK REPLY broken on lock screen.
2) NOTIFICATIONS broken on many apps, Telegram on all in my case.
3) "DELETE" key very small on gmail in the quick reply (yes, here it works but it is not a real reply) and do not tell me to increase the size of the text: it is not a viable solution when on all phones, with the same dpi and resolution, the button has a normal size .
4) Touch on the keyboard is not precise and sometimes miss the pressure. Obscene vibration feedback and that brings even more confusion if added to the previous problem.
5) Whatsapp crashes when take a picture.
I could go on. At the moment it is indecent. I would like to understand if they are only my problems or not.
Thanks

For 1a n 1b...is not broken u have to manage something in setting, so go in setting, notification n in end of menu is an option "notification style" or something similar from default is MIUI, if u tap on it u can choose android...so this problem is solved. For 2 telegram n other apps u want notifications go in settings then in apps ( for example telegram n move priority from normal to urgent) so also this problem should be solved
