Hello all, I just activated my Samsung S8+ on Xfinity Mobile this past Tuesday and I still have not received the May security update. I was wondering if anyone read anything about how they are going to push the monthly updates? I have been searching Google but of course because it is so new there is a lack of information.
It hasn't been released yet.

I got mine last week, I've been very happy with it.
I am curious to see how quick they are on patching, considering the phone has almost zero bloat it shouldn't take long once they are available.

Does your VoLTE work? I have the unlocked version flashed to xfinity and I can't find the VoLTE setting.
VOLTE Works for me on Xfinity Mobile.
Settings>Connections>Mobile Networks
The toggle is there.
I am in same boat as others. I left AT&T. So refreshing to be TouchWiz base without all the major carrier crap/mods.

So you can use data while on a call WITHOUT WiFi being on? Mine shows 3G all the time with WiFi off. I was thinking it was a SIM compatibility issue between the LG X Power and S8+. My SIM from my Note5 wouldn't work in my S8+ on Sprint. Had to have a different one.

Wasn't actually sure it was working.
Called voicemail and did a web search for confirmation.
Functioning correctly.
Is your "mobile network" set to Global? I have trouble if I switch to CDMA/LTE for some reason.

It's set to global. I have trouble getting LTE period. I can use Rom Control and force to LTE and web is OK. No calls though. Toggle is missing. Same thing, I can enable VoLTE with Rom Control and can see the toggle. NO voice calls though. Says out of service area. Maybe it's because the LG X Power doesn't support VoLTE and the account isn't provisioned for it. I put the SIM card back in the X Power and I can't get 4G on there now. A tier 2 tech was poking around my account yesterday. Don't know what he did. He hung up on my. LOL
I got mine about 2 weeks ago loving it so far.

APN settings appear correct. Compared that with the LG. My LG has a username and password though. I take them out and I have no data at all. The S8+ has data with the settings like yours. I can edit the APN settings on the LG where as they are locked on the S8+. Weird since this is an unlocked U1 phone. Had to flash the Xfinity firmware to get text to work though. Hopefully that didn't lock the device to Xfinity. The tier 2 tech wanted the IMEI from there S8+. I gave it to him and he said that was for the LG X Power. I had the S8+ box in front of me and even pulled it from the phone. Still said that it belonged to the LG. Then he hung up on me. Not a word since.

Hmmm, maybe he did you a favor actually.
I just flashed the U1 firmware to my Xfinity device and all the APN stuff is editable. Phone shows as a U1 model too. Everything is working great. I found everytjing in thr AT&T section of S8+.
Can you flash back to U1 firmware, pop the X mobile sim in (get the device all set up first before putting SIM in) and then do a manual search on service provider section of mobile connections? The tech may have locked that SIM to IMEI, but that's a good thing if you are wanting to use that SIM on S8, right?
Go in to network operators and pick top option (search networks) and let it search for a while. Then you should have a list like my second attachment. Oh and don't mind my lack of cell signal lol, I was jacking around with all of the editable options available now.
Be sure and set Bearer to Unspecified (with nothing else selected). Save before exiting. Added third pic to show I am on LTE+ on U1 firmware with X mobile SIM, but this SIM was always tied to this IMEI as it is Xfinity Purchased phone.

Did you ever get this going? I never did get 4G going on my LG X Power. The only way I could get it to work was to select LTE/GSM under mobile networks. Of course calls wouldn't work then. Exchanged them for the LG X Charge which supports VoLTE. I still can't get 4G. They said to use my old sim cards. I think I have a provisioning issue. Still waiting on tier 2 to call.

I'm unable to get it setup on my Note4. I get the incredibly useful message "Backend error" from the AT&T site after I enter the sync code on their site.
Is this a temporary issue you think, or is it just the usual incompetence of an inept software developer who can't be bothered to give meaningful results to help narrow down the cause of an error?
Is it working for everyone else?
Yep, getting the same error message. Hope this is temporary!
I was having a similar issue. On my Gear S3 when trying to get the sync code, it kept giving an error message. Finally after 9:30 central time I was able to generate the code and get it synced. I think the system was overloaded with all the at&t pre-orders being delivered yesterday.
Anyone have AT&T S3 but linking to S7E 935F International phone? Keep trying to set up Numbersync but it connects to my wife's 935A. It won't see my phone. I am running Hydra Rom but the watch is connected with Bluetooth no problem.
For numbersync to be setup, you have to have a username for myatt for that exact phone. Then it will allow you to setup numbersync if that phone is HD voice capable.
I set it up on my Axon 7 without any problems.
Just tried again, same error message

According to AT&T International S7E (Exynos) is not compatible with LTE Frontier watch on AT&T due to no HD voice? Can use Bluetooth, but not the Numbersync. I'm pretty PO'd right now as that was why I bought it.
Anybody getting this to work yet?
I have not been able to get it to work. I am using an unlocked tmobile note 4. When I called I was told it was because it was not an at&t phone. What if I change the build prop to 910A from 910T? Would that be enough for it to work? Dont want to try and mess things up.

Hi I'm new to this forum. Like OP, I also have a Note 4 ATT LTE and had the same Numbersync error. Here is how I resolved my issue after extensive research:
1) Make sure to enable HD Voice on your phone if supported (for Note 4: Settings->More networks->Mobile networks->Mobile data->check Enhanced LTE Services (mine was unchecked)
2) Before even attempting to sync via Numbersync, make sure that your cell phone number is set as primary in My ATT account. I didn't have a primary number set, so I tried making the Gear S3's number primary (when I was prompted to add one) and it didn't work properly. So I learned it's essential your PHONE (the one you intend to connect with S3) is set as primary, NOT another phone/tablet/wearable line in your account.
3) After all the initial errors and hassles thereafter, I just reset the S3 after following my above instructions and the sync was seamless and I was up and running.
Hope this helps...it certainly worked for me!

The red pointer is for the chronograph function. It does not move unless you tap it to start the chrono. Bad design in my opinion.
Soo no one here might have an iPhone they were able to get numbersync to work on with the leaked iOS app?
Has anyone got Numbersync to work on International S7E 935F?
I have number sync working with my Nexus 6P, spent about an hour in the AT&T store working with the salesperson that sold me my Frontier. He was under the belief that it was tied to IMEI numbers so he supposedly cloned my wife's IMEI number to my 6P which didn't work. I told him that I read that HD Voice/VoLTE had to be enabled and because I had a Nexus 6P that was the problem. So he called support and asked them to enable HD Voice on my line. While he was doing that I was googling, found this thread: https://forums.att.com/t5/Device-Features/Nexus-6P-No-HD-Voice-and-Wifi-Calling/td-p/4346076 and followed this guide:
Navigate to Settings > More > Cellular Networks and enable the toggle switch for "Enhanced" 4G LTE Mode. However, if the toggle is missing then follow the steps provided below:
Launch the Dialer app on your phone, and dial*#*#4636#*#*.
Choose Phone information.
Enable or select VoLTE Provisioned Flag.
Restart the phone.
Go to Settings " More " Cellular networks and toggle the switch for Enhanced 4G LTE Mode, and the HD Voice calling feature should now be activated on your device running Android 5.1 and above.

I enabled the VoLTE option, restarted my phone and sure enough when I went back into the MyATT webpage I was now offered the ability to enter in a sync code and it worked. He was never able to get support to enable HD Voice on their end. Going back into the setting it shows that VoLTE isn't active, I have no HD Voice option or feature in the Enhanced 4G LTE options at all but my number is indeed synced. I left my phone at home, walked the dogs and made 2 phone calls and the number did go over as my cell number.
Now the other thing he mentioned that should work is to use an approved AT&T phone that has HD Voice capabilities enabled. Then if I were to put my SIM in that phone, wait for the MyATT webpage to update showing that this other phone was tied to my number, then perform the number sync at this point it should also work, once it's enabled it won't go away according to the ATT rep. I didn't need to do that so I can't confirm but it sounds reasonable.
With Verizon on current 2.42.617.1, we receive several LTE Bands, which is good in most places with strong Verizon signal. S-0ff until next reboot has been achieved and there is TWRP recovery, root choices, and several custom roms available which make the U11 experience better.
Note if you unlock your device: so far no updates will relock an unlocked device or deny you the ability to stay unlocked.
This is a well-made and for the most part, now problem-free phone. Most of the earlier Verizon connection issues have been resolved.
So far only the Sprint version is out in the wild in the USA. The "unlocked" verizon - ATT, Verizon, Tmobile - is not out yet. Why not just get that one?

Yes, ordered it in first hours of availability: coming this afternoon via FedEx.
Ordered the 'unlocked' one alright.
But in the past I bought the Unlocked HTC/Google PixelXL, and Verizon shortly sent out software that would eliminate
the possibility of unlocking the bootloader - different from carrier unlocked.
I just don't want future bootloader unlock to get prohibited by putting in the Verizon sim. Once burned, now cautious...
Oh, man, this had better not be the case.
I will be returning it if this happens.
At least my LG G3 is unlocked and works the way I want it to.
Got mine already, unlocked model with verizon sim. It's true that this phone does not seem to have cdma radios. So you MUST have advanced calling turned on in order for this phone to work with a verizon sim. So if you aren't blanketed in 4glte service and relied on cdma for phone calls you are SOL. This phone only supports VoLTE for calls. Just an fyi/disclaimer in case cdma is important for you.

This is partially why I am waiting. So see how much others find this to be an issue & come here and talk about it. It seems to me it will be a BIG issue for me as I do find 3G and 1x at times when I travel remotely.
We have zero idea when VZW will be fully moving over and off the CDMA - it could be years and in the meantime, I feel like I need that ability personally.

Actually my Verizon business rep is being told that they need to phase out 3g phones over the next two years. They aren't even allowed to sell 3g only phones anymore, that's why advanced calling is on by default now on new devices. They expect to start re-purposing those 3g towers by 2020, maybe sooner, who knows.
I ordered the "Verizon" U11 (which is actually just the unlocked version). Just got it, opened the box and booted up, went through the HTCdev Unlocking process successfully. Popped in my VZW already activated SIM card and got the message: "Would you like to install settings and apps from your carrier? Existing settings will be replaced." Choices are to install now or later so I said later. Gave it time then rebooted and chose to install the Settings/Apps. Looks like it added some VZ Bloat and also modified some network/call settings, but nothing else.
@WorldOfJohnboy - Interesting. I got none of that when I put my Verizon SIM in my unlocked U11. It works making phone calls, texts, etc., but no WiFi Calling, no Visual Voicemail, no Caller ID, no HD Voice. Only VOLTE is offered. Didn't ask me to install settings or apps. Wonder if I should do a wipe and set up from scratch, because I'd actually like those things to work.
@WorldOfJohnboy can you use Titanium Backup or other method to freeze/remove VZW apps?
Did you have or do you now have Mobile Hotspot enabled?

Can anyone on Verizon make a few screenshots?

These screenshots would clarify which features are available on Verizon.

These options did not work for me. The menus are different than your directions.
There's no CDMA. No GSM options. Only voice over LTE.
Option number four didn't work for me at all.
I only received my u11 last night. Calling is good in my LTE Zone. No Wi-Fi calling options available. This is after I allowed Verizon to install its apps and settings. I don't believe that there were any changes to the menu. I didn't see Wi-Fi calling at all.
The phone is absolutely beautiful but it is slippery and looks fragile as hell. Even in the included plastic clear case I question its resiliency.
However, this is the first Verizon phone I've had where mobile hotspot worked out of the box! Usually I have to unlock root and ROM for that.

Okay, sorry, I just assumed it would be the same as the stock Android 7. It's strange that #4 doesn't work though.
Could you try to find screens similar to #1 and #2 in the settings menu? It should say something about cellular/network. #3 might not be there at all if HTC is using their own dialer app. I've attached examples how it should look.

Sorry, but screenshotting and uploading are too difficult for me at the moment.
None of those options exist for Verizon. LTE is the _only_ option for calling. No voice over WiFi, No CDMA.
There are some GSM-only options, but they don't come up in my phone. Selecting them goes to a forever-waiting "Reading settings..."
Apparently you can use SIP calling for Internet calls.
Hope this helps. I need to get on the unlock process and ROM installation before I decide whether I keep it.

I have the UK Version, trying to use it in the US on AT&T. If I did my research correctly, the phone can support 3 out of AT&T's 4 lte bands, but I'm only getting the H and H+ icon. I know that in the UK, the 4g icon means lte, but I'm pretty sure that H and H+ mean HSPA and HSPA+, not LTE. Is there anybody in a similar situation that is able to get 4g? And if so, do you mind posting your APN settings, or the steps that you took to enable 4g on the phone?
Mine shows 4G/4G+ (which is LTE).... The only bummer here's that it's super low where I live. I know my previous OP3T got higher service bars but right now I'm fine because I use WiFi 99% of the time. The settings I use are for the ATT PRODATA apn (you could just search for those settings on Google) and the phone also set to 4G preferred under mobile network settings. Hope that helps

I wonder why that's the case. My previous phone was an unlocked verizon lg g3, which didn't have all the lte bands on the phone. I'll have to try w a friend's sim or something and see I get lte then. That's the only way I know to test this.
Who knows? I have the G8142 model. Perhaps they weren't a fan of it. I was on AT&T years ago with my OPO and Nexus 5 and had no problems (signed with Nexus 5 IMEI). I switched to Fi then until a few weeks ago when I switched back.
I spent days trying different APNs and toggling data connections. I couldn't get anything. I even tried putting the sim back in Pixel and couldn't get LTE. I found a thread from years ago on AT&T's website about a guy having the same issue. I did the chat support on their website and asked they guy to switch my IMEI and gave him my Pixel one. I restarted both phones and got LTE and both of them almost immediately after he did it (while still in chat).

I found a thread from years ago on AT&T's website about a guy having the same issue. I did the chat support on their website and asked they guy to switch my IMEI and gave him my Pixel one. I restarted both phones and got LTE and both of them almost immediately after he did it (while still in chat).

I told the chat dude that I couldn't get LTE and I was pretty sure it was because my IMEI wasn't an official AT&T phone. He said that was probably why and I asked if he could switch the IMEI for me and he said yes, then I gave him the new one.
You could always say something along the lines of your phone breaking and just need to switch to an older phone for the time being, then ask if they can change the IMEI.

I just had them switch it back to my G3, you were right in that they thought for some reason it was a 2g phone, the rep confirmed that AT&T is now sending data on their end, but I'm still not getting it on my end. Would you mind posting your preferred network type, and apn settings?

Not a problem. Glad it worked! :good:
Does LTE not show up in the status bar for you? I have the international model as well and LTE often shows above the signal in the status bar. I also still have my Z5P, I factory reset the device and had a different AT&T sim added to my account and put in and there was no connection. One of the reps added APN settings and it started working, but it only shows H,H+,4G, or 4G+ and not LTE. I don't have it with me right now so I can't check the differences between the settings right now.

If you have the G8141, when it displays 4G/4G+, it means you're connected to LTE. This threw me off at first too because I'm not used to seeing that.

I don't think there are differences like that between the two models, I have the G8142 and LTE shows very often above the status bar. It sounds like your APN settings may not have been correct during the provisioning process.

So far from what I'm seeing around here on the forums, the G8142 does actually show LTE whereas the G8141 shows 4G rather than LTE. You can actually verify this by downloading the app Cellmapper which will show you which towers you're connected to, which frequency band you're using and which connection type you're using.
Trust me, I went through this process already because everyone with the UK model (like me) shows 4G and everyone with the Dual SIM shows LTE. Another forum member explained to me that this is because of market differences in the UK being that they don't advertise LTE but rather only 4G (which is actually more accurate with regards to the connection type).

4G and LTE are the same thing internationally. Some regions on Sony firmware call LTE by different names- for example the Nordic firmware calls it 4G while central Europe 1 calls it LTE.

Ya, ignore what I said earlier about the APN settings, I fixed them but LTE is not showing up in my Z5P, it's still only 4G/4G+. I originally thought that I had the Central Europe ROM on the Z5P but I did a factory reset and it seems to be something else based on the default language, but I can't figure out which one it is. Anyway another difference I see between the XZP ROMs is that the US ROM has more signal bars than the one on my XZP, can someone let me know how to find what ROM I have since the build number is the same for each of them it seems?

Sounds like you have the UK ROM. Mine does both of the things you mention. Usually only 2 bars and shows 4G/4G+ when I'm connected to LTE. However, the signal bars thing may actually be due to poor signal because in some areas around where I live, I will actually get full bars of 4G/4G+
Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
If the UK ROM does not show LTE it's not the one that I have. I was saying LTE shows up on my XZP but not my Z5P, I think my Z5P was from Taiwan but I'm not sure, I bought it on Amazon. My wife has the US XZP and that's the one I was comparing the amount of signal bars with. I would still like to know how to actually view what region firmware is installed though, I haven't found a good answer anywhere yet.
A couple of weeks back, I purchased a factory unlocked S8+ Model #G955U1, Baseband Version G955U1EU1AQE3 (The AT&T Galaxy S8+ has different Model and Build #s), inserted my AT&T SIM card and have been using it since. Then I decided to activate WiFi calling, however, unlike my wife's iPhone 7, my Galaxy does not have the option to enable WiFi calling (this option should be under Settings>Connections). After some research, I found out that this a carrier feature which AT&T must provision. When I asked them to do it, they provisioned it on my wife's iPhone 7 but not on my Galaxy, so I called them again and asked them to provision it on the Galaxy. Although they insist that they did, the feature does not show up on under AT&T Devices (It shows up under the iPhone but not the Galaxy). After spending no less than two hours speaking to three agents, I learned that AT&T does not have in their data base the IMEI number of the Galaxy because it was not purchased through them. So obviously, not having an IMEI number, the WiFi calling feature is not going to be pushed to my Galaxy. Not being able to solve the problem, they escalated it to another level who is supposed to contact me two days from now. A friend purchased his Galaxy S8+ through AT&T and the WiFi calling option is there in Settings>Connection and he is able to toggle it on or off. When I used AT&T's IMEI Verification tool, the result was "Device is compatible but we cannot find matching SIM card".
Any and all input would be appreciated.
Same here. Looks like wifi calling is not a feature that is available on the unlocked version unfortunately. Same with using LTE while on calls and built in visual voicemail :/
You have some advantages going unlocked but you lose some things too.

But you can always use Odin to flash the ATT firmware to the unlocked device. There's plenty of threads here regarding this very subject.

True, just keep in mind that future att updates can't be done via OTA - which can be a pain too.

I am pleasantly surprised and a bit puzzled because when I spoke to T-Mobile Tech yesterday, she could not confirm if WiFi calling will work on unlocked S8+. If I can be assured that it will work, I will switch to T-Mobile.
Please do me a great favor and check if your unlocked S8+ has the same Model and Build Numbers as mine. Here are my numbers:
Model #G955U1
SM-G955UZKAXAA
Baseband Version G955U1EU1AQE3
Thank you.

All the information you provided matched with my phone. As a matter of fact, I also tried my friends SIM who is on MVNO called Mint Mobile that runs on T-mobile network. Mint also allowed me to make wi-fi calling. I am surprised that t-mobile rep could not confirm this feature because this feature is on by default! If I don't want to make wifi calls, I have to turn it off. The only little annoying part is that you get constant notification," Calls will be made over WiFi". Even when you block this notification, it will reappear on the reboot

Thank you indeed for your response. When I got my S8+ and before inserting AT&T SIM, this feature was NOT listed under Settings>Connections. I was informed by a Samsung agent that the carriers will push this feature to the phone through their SIM after they provision the feature. So now since my SIM is AT&T and my phone is unlocked, and its IMEI number is not in AT&T's data base, I don't have the feature listed.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on at&t network. On t-mobile, I did not have to do anything except during the initial setup, I was asked if I was ok to make wifi phone calls when a wifi connection was available & the signal was strong. I still have the option not to use this feature. You may wantvto visit a t-mobile store or find a friend who is on t-mobile network. It might not be a bad idea to reset the phone (after backing up) when you get the new sim card. Good luck ?

That's because WiFi calling and VoLTE are not available on ATT using the US Unlocked device. You have to either buy an ATT carrier version, or flash the ATT firmware to your current device.
Try to reset to factory defaults with sim inside
I'm on Argentina and with unlocked software i got wifi calling when the device is set up with my sim inside

I found that after wasting several hours with AT&T's techs. The 3rd option is to dump AT&T and switch to a carrier that has wifi calling available for unlocked S8/S8+ phones such as T-Mobile.
Wi-Fi Calling works great for me

I unlocked my note 10+ 5g from t-mobile, but it won't get service with verizon.
When I install a non-tmobile sim, the software does not switch from tmobile for some reason.
Also Sam Mobile only has t-mobile and metro pcs firmware availible for the sm-n976u
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the phone working with verizon? Thanks.

Try clearing Sim card tool kit data.
Network reset.
Clear system cache.
Edit Access point names to correct values.
That's all I got but sure there's more. Never had use more than the above but never changed carriers. Verizon advanced tech support should be able to help... AT&T would.
The Verizon Note 10+ 5G has a different model number. So they probably won't allow the T-Mobile/Metro/AT&T version on their network

I think you're correct. AT&T is compatible with Tmobile but not Verizon according to B&H Photo compatibility charts.
So it look like AT&T is in your future. AT&T is easier to deal with anyway. Do not use a corporate store though, use over the phone or online AT&T.
It may be possible to change out the C port PCB for the Verizon variant. Yes that PCB controls internet access. I can't confirm this is the only difference though! That PCB is only $20 and relatively easy to change out.

It's gets service with att, but it still has the tmobile boot logo. I flashed the att rom, but it didn't help. The carrier is supposed to automatically switch when you insert a different sim card right?
I also tried *#272*imei# but it says "unable to process the request"

It's actually super difficult to hard brick a Qualcomm device, and even if it is hard bricked and only enters EDL mode, it can be fixed as long as you have the correct files.
There are too many safeguards in place between Qualcomm and Samsung - the average user will always be blocked from doing anything that would brick a device. There's really no danger in flashing firmware whatsoever

My method doesn't involve root, no. You can't root if you've taken an OTA update in March of this year or later
I hope I can be of some help.
I recently ordered a Note 10+ 5G - Locked Verizon from a popular online re-seller. When I turned it on, I was greeted with an AT&T boot logo. I was pretty upset, but I though I'd try to get it up and running on Verizon before spending a couple weeks sending it back and getting a replacement. I tried Verizon's online software and I couldn't get beyond the IMEI change. It kept telling me that the Note's IMEI was what I was already using with my Droid, which was obviously not the case. So, I headed into my local Verizon store.
Nothing they did would get my 4G SIM to work, so they swapped out for a 5G SIM for free, then switched my hardware IMEI numbers and proceeded to have a some difficulty getting on the network. After doing a network reset, it seemingly worked. More on that below. I was getting both data and voice over network. I was able to transfer my setting, apps, etc from my Motorola Droid with Samsung Switch. The phone indicates both 3G and 4G signals as I travel around town. 5G is not available in my immediate area, though it is in some cities I occasionally travel to, but I'm unable to test that just yet. I become aware that there are differences between Verizon's 5G and other networks and it seems the non-Verizon phone I have is probably for the best in terms of compatibility.
Unfortunately, texts frequently take 10-30 seconds to send. Images, gifs and other non-text MMS can take multiple minutes to send and sometimes just fail. Other times the recipient will receive them twice. I feel like this may be due to the poor coverage at my residence. Further testing in areas of good to excellent coverage are necessary. I tried changing the network settings from Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode, but anything other than the default "GLOBAL" would result in a disconnect of data and voice services. The only way to fix it was Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This would restore the Mode to GLOBAL and bring back data and voice services.
In an effort to remove the AT&T branding, I learned how to trigger a carrier switch, dialed the code and changed it from AT&T to XAA. That got rid of the AT&T boot animation and I was able to remove all but 2 stubborn AT&T apps. I noticed that my android version was 10 and UI was 2.5, so I set out to update.
This is where things got frustrating. Every attempt to update through the settings > software update was met with failure. Try again in 24 hours, it would say. I assumed this was because I was now using a Verizon sim on an AT&T firmware, but I wasn't sure. I thought I might be able to flash to a Verizon firmware, but after several versions and some more research, I learned that going from 976U to 976V was not possible.
So, over the course of several days, I learned a lot. I looked up the firmware releases on AT&T's website for the 976U and saw that they matched the T-Mobile and MetroPCS versions. So, I settled on a T-Mobile version of Android 11 / UI 3.1. It updated without any issues and even remained in XAA mode. No bloatware, no loading images, all settings and apps the same.
So, even though I have an unlocked AT&T Note 10+ 5G 256GB and you have a T-Mobile, the fact that we both have a 976U model, I think there is hope for you to get up and running on Verizon.
Hope this has helped.
