So not that long ago I picked up a Belkin car charger while waiting for my Google model to come in. I actually never got around to using it and just took it out the box today.
The cable I bought was a "Belkin Car Charger 12W USB-A input + 15W USB-C" from Target.
Anyways to the point. Today I figured I could use the usb-a to usb-c for tethering to my desktop. I hooked it up, ran fine for a little while, then my PC crashed (straight off) with no warning. Powered it back up and got the same thing a few times. I went around changing drives, swapping Psu's, and even swapped Mobo + cpu until I found a combination of hardware that should work.
And it did work, until I plugged my Belkin c to a cable back up for tethering. Again, after 6 or 7 minutes, the PC went straight off. At this point I came to the conclusion that something must be shorted inside the cable. SOMEHOW I managed to find the receipt and swap it for a new one, same model. Guess what? SAME PROBLEM. I still didn't believe it was the cable, so I swapped cables and everything was fine, and even asked a friend to test the cable. When the friend tested it with his type c drive, he immediately got a blue screen (iqrl not less or equal) as soon as the drivers loaded.
Tldr; Two Belkin cables had similar problems and are crashing pc's
the product you're referencing doesn't come with a USB-C cable, at least not one that can be used as a data cable

So, I'm traveling (for a long period of time) with my TF. One day, it stopped charging.
I took apart the power brick and put it back together, I even tried to freeze it (on advice from some older "not charging" threads), nothing helps.
When I connect the TF to my laptop via USB - it recognizes the TF. When I connect my iPod to the power brick (with its own cable obviously) - it charges just fine. So what broke?!
I hate this, the local stores here don't sell the power brick separately and I don't even know if that's the source of the problem.
This sucks
Sounds like the power pin in the TF port has bent/broken or just has some detritus/dirt/foreign matter in it and is stopping it from charging properly. Have a look, but you might need to check the port with lots of light and a magnifying glass, so not easy while you're on the move.
If you are in the US Office Depot sells the charger and USB cable for $30.
strange thing is that sometime my transformer doesn't charge.
i have to reboot and it start to charge again.
Same happened here. Asus tech wanted me to wipe the device. After trying other options to get it to charge, I did but it didn't wipe... Go figure... But it booted up normally and now it has been charging.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Apparently charging has some history of issues on the TF101.
I just had mine act up on me, went around the house trying different wall sockets and checked that it worked fine via USB to PC. Ended up taking a can of dust-off to all the pins, then shoving the plug hard into the TF101 socket. Now it works.
Should have mentioned I have a dock as well, which doesn't charge either (so problem is probably with cable/brick)
I'm trying to get new ones (nowhere to be found here, but I'm trying to get one sent to me). I tried looking for dust/dirt and different wall sockets, no luck.
Weird thing - I left it plugged in to the wall overnight and it grew from 5% to 15%, so looks like some electricity is trickling.
I had the same problem with mine after I had it for 5 weeks, I just RMA'd it and everything is fine.
Im having the same exact problem. I left it charging over night by mistake the night before yesterday. I only let it charge 3 hours the most because I know the Transformers have known issues.
I tried to charge it this morning and nothing. I plug it into my PC. The PC recognized the Transformer but no charging. Turned it on and off, nothing.
Just put the power brick in the freezer, waiting to dry up to see if it works .
Although the tf charger and cable has a usb connector it is not usb compliant. the charger brick looks for a gnd signal on pin 7 of the usb connector ( normally a usb 3.0 data line) to determine it should supply 15V to the positive charge pin vs standard 5V. The slow charge you are seeing is from the 5V supply . check to see if pin7 is seeing the gnd signal. Are you using a usb 2.0 extension cable as it doesn't have have pin 7 conductor. be careful connecting your ipod as it could accidentaly see 15V vs the 5V it is designed for.
The one I got from verizon easily falls out of the socket. ANd plus the usb cable broke within a week.
I love my verizon one. It never falls out of the socket and I've had it since November in the USB cable looks like new (even tho I'm an Android developer, so I move it all the time).
Yeah my original one that cam with the phone works fine, cable doesn't let me access USB any more but it still charges the phone. I also have used the charger for an old Kyocera dumbphone, multiple blackberry chargers, HTC, Motorola, etc... I hang out with friends a lot and sometimes use theirs. All the chargers work pretty much the same, the only difference was USB cords. Oddly, the HTC cords were terrible at staying in my phone, and would fall out if i wiggled it. The motorola ones worked even better than samsung's. Just any microUSB charger from amazon should work.
I just got 2 of the original chargers shipped to me for <$8
Hi guys! I have a USB problem that's been haunting me for over two months now and I still don't have a solution.
After the repair center refused to replace my broken micro-USB connector under warranty because of alleged water damage, I decided to do it myself and ordered a new connector on eBay. Once it arrived I was discouraged to carry out such a repair myself by my uncle, who is quite experienced with micro electronics, and that he would do it for me.
I gave the phone and the new connector to him last Saturday and he had done the repair by Sunday evening. I went to his home to pick it up and found it charged to a full 100%. However, when I came home and after some usage wanted to plug it in again for the night, I could not get it to charge from my home charger.
I've tried the following:
-LG wall plug with LG usb cable (came with the optimus pro that I'm using as a temporary phone)
-Dedicated aftermarket 220V to micro-usb charger (good quality, not the cheap chinese kind)
-NS original USB cable connected to computer
-NS original USB cable connected to LG wall plug (different that the first mentioned wall plug)
So far the first two were unsuccessful and the latter tow only work if I pull cable to the right, while the phone is off. I have not been able to charge while on. An expectable reaction would be to buy a new charger because probably all my chargers and cables are broken, but the strange thing is that they work perfectly on the charm. The phone can not be the source of the problem either, becauee it was charging fine at my uncles place.
What possibility am I not seeing here people? What am I missing?
Hi,
I've been using a usb cable in my car and once i switched to Mi4C i didn't want to replace the cable so i bought an adapter.
Now for some reason the car cable doesn't charge the phone almost entirely while a similar cable connected to PC and the same adapter do charge the phone.
I've used Ampere app to get info and i've noticed similar data but i can't point out the issue, i'm attaching the sunscreens below, maybe someone will have an idea, my guess is either the cable or charger.

I've tried the original cable that came with the phone and the car charger and it seemed better so it's probably the cable.
I've ordered a different cable and hope for the best.

USB-C Port Issues - "Charging Connected Device via USB" is a Constant Notification
Back info: So I charged my Pixel 3 once via the USB-C cable that came with it about a month ago, and I also tried the USB-C headphones too (around the same time) and both of these work just fine. I've since been using wireless charging and Bluetooth headphones.
I just got the pixel stand and noticed about 2 days after using that I keep getting a notification that says "Charging Connected Device via USB" even though I'm not using the USB-C port. At first it went away, but now it is staying through reboots and even shows up in safe mode sometimes. So I tried connecting the USB-C cable to the phone to see if it goes away, and I notice the cable doesn't charge the phone. Now if I power down the phone and plug the USB-C cable in one of two things will happen, but it depends on what side of the (reversible) USB-C cable is facing up:
1. The phone will start to charge and continue to charge if I hold down the power button and turn the phone on.
2. The phone will turn one when the cable is connected, but not charge the phone.
I don't think this is a hardware problem because I can use a USB-A to USB-C cable from my computer and it will charge/transfer files no matter what side of the USB-C cable is up. I also don't think this is cable or charger issues because I've used two different USB-C to USB-C cables and chargers (the set that came with the Pixel 3 and the set that came with the Pixel Stand).
I have also tried the USB-C headphones again and those are not really working either. I got them to work once by activating the Google Assistant as I was plugging them in, and they would continue to work after that until I plugged the charging cable back in. I tried the headphones again after the power cable, and they stopped working again. I now notice that the "Charging Connected Device via USB" will show up when I plug the USB-C headphones in one direction and not show up if I flip the USB-C port over.
There are some people with the issue over on Reddit, but no one seems to have a fix. One person said that a factory reset fixed his issue, but I've so many 2-factor authentication apps, that it is a real hassle to do a factory reset.
Well, the overall description of your problem does seem to point at a HW problem, since USB-C cables should be fully reversible on a hardware level.
Looks like it was corrosion.... I took a small brush to the port and cleaned it out. I cleaned it over clean surface and no debris fell out, so it is kind of concerning that corrosion would build up after halving the phone for just under a month.
