Are they kidding us? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

I got the B380 update and there's not one, but 4 updates since March. What are they waiting for?

Battery sucks, huawei on updates sucks ?

Terrible updates distribution, and terrible updates too. went to B381 from B360 with dload method, battery sucks now... And some delay at camera focus/light setting on tap

Exactly, update distribution sucks but their phones are perfect.

Updates from FF are not official. The only update to which you can get attention is the official one. The rest you do on your own responsibility.

I tested all versions. Now I am on the B360 and patiently waiting for another version of OTA. For this money is excellent equipment. And it does not explode

At least you have 380. I have the US version that hasn't had an update since February!
Sent from my XT1609 using Tapatalk

European version has B380 as last update for now. Firmware Finder shows B381, B387 and B388 as avaible updates for my country... idk if they didn't appear in OTA updater because i'm rooted or because simply aren't avaible yet

Lastest version you can upgrade on EU Honor 8 (L09) is 381. In FF you can see also 387 and 388 but they are beta yet and noone can upgrade on them.

i installed 381 through dload. Dont do it this way. its not a clean install.
A friend installed b386 through TWRP. Some apps work better but batery still sucks.
i think i will downgrade back to b360 and forget about updates... :-S

Actually i solved the battery problem with nougat and I hope I solved it definitely. It's just that I see those updates and I don't know if they are or not betas. For now I'm waiting for the B381 hoping that the battery will go better. Now i'm near to the 5 hours of intense usage or almost 2 days with low usage, about 3 hours of display and more than a day of stand-by. It's not the 8 hours record of MM, but it's still good.
Anyway I'm sorry for my bad English.

How did you solve the batt drain?
Sent from my FRD-L09 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

Just fyi, I am using L-04 on Att, i just got notification on update from 360 to 385. It is installes but too soon to tell if it will help with battery issues. Hopefully, you will get it soon.

Maybe the real question is, are we kidding ourselves? Is it realistic for us to expect a company to provide the same level of software updates that $700-800 devices receive for a device that was only sold for $400? Shouldn't we expect some compromises to have been made in order to achieve this much performance at this price point?

Discharge the Phone completely (battery at 0%)
Load it while turned off and wait an hour after the complete charge. Now you should be fine.

on my L09 b381, i have solved my battery drain by two factory reset with the official recovery... the first factory reset, boot, and return in recovery, second factory rest. Just one didn't solved the drain...don't know why....after i have flashed twrp and root. Now my battery down at 20% after 15 hours of good use : web, mail, etc.... (before it was just 5 hours...)

rom sucks,and we need Los

Does anyone agree that sony still hasn't rolled out the "fixed" nougat?

I'm on Xperia Z5 (E6653, Vodafone UK) haven't still got Nougat, I know it takes some time for it to arrive to carrier based devices but the problem is that this new 32.3.A.0.376 Has only rolled out to regions that received Nougat before. XperiFirm shows that only 4 regions; Australia, Philippines, Russia and Thailand have got the update. the same regions were also the first regions who got the first Nougat build, Judging by a little number jump on the build number (3 to 6), I'm thinking this is a little update to fix some little bugs, not major stuff. I think the major update is yet to come with big fixes. What do you guys think?

You did not experience nougat. (376)
Why did you ask this question?
What do you expect from Nougat?
It has nougat features, but nothing special.

Look I might not have Nougat but I've seen it on a friends Z5 in which he flashed it, it's good but he says it got bugs. your third question I won't answer because It's already answered on the first post. and all I want from Nougat is a bug-free and smooth running update, although Xperia X lockscreen and manual camera controls would be nice which they didn't include.
You have a good point and I was thinking along the same lines, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the fixed Nougat and it is just that buggy.
The update rolled out near the end of the week and they don't seem to roll out updates on weekends often. If I recall RU was also one of the first to get Marshmallow and places like Taiwan only got it a week later. 6.1 took even longer for some places...
EDIT: Also, TH did not get Nougat before. They got the small .11 update in the weeks after Nougat was pulled back.

Let's just hope it gets to UK fast, or I'm gonna flash the AU firmware.
I have audio playback issue, Music and third-party apps' sound won't play together and there's lag in call log, though photo analyzer is fast now.
Anyone with the same issues or a fix?
Well I do think they're taking too long this time around.... The weekend is over and still no Z5 updates. They did roll out the update on the Z4 tablet yesterday but that was it...
I am in Middle East, Iran , got lastest update android N via flash tools ( also I got it OTA)
But It is a total shame!
Battery drains so fast , apps get crashed some times , and you can't believe it is your SONY Z5!
I had real bad experience with Nougat, so decided to roll back to 6.0.1 , much better.
Waiting for an update from SONY to get best features.

It's worth upgrading for me. Super smooth, no battery drain, pleasing battery icon, no more sim tag in status bar is awesome. Call log UI is great, finger print sensor is blazing fast. Not obsessed with X locksreen anyway. Camera swipe to change camera is great.
Disappointing is that we don't have Vulkan, I don't know why.
I have this issue : when placing a call with speaker on, the mic doesn't work. Could you guys try and tell me?

Which version are you on? 376 or 372? I'm on 372 still haven't updated to 376 and I can say the volume bug is the worst bug I've ever encountered, I can't hear my ringtone. There's also this bug in which contacts and phone apps' accent colors don't change.
I had to rollback to mm, actually using romx because Nougat has a terrible thermal management and battery give me about 2 SOT

I'd hate to disagree on that. Nougat has better thermal management than on MM. But I guess it varies from person to person.

What variant are you using? I tried Au and phi, I got about 2 sot, on mm used to get 4 hours.
Someone told to try the Russian variant
I updated to 376 and I can say that the battery life is much much better, fingerprint is very fast sometimes I just press the power button and it unlocks, volume bug is fixed and thermal management is great; there's no annoying heat. And the reason there's no Vulkan is that the drivers for it hasn't been released for 810.

Your accent bug is fixed on phone and contacts? Here check this screenshot, I'm running a dark gray accent theme but the phone app shows a blue accent, other apps like messaging and settings work fine. Just phone and contacts.

Galaxy S8+ G955F Exynos battery drain on stock oreo firmware (XXU1CRAP) ?

Does anyone else notice significant battery drain with the official oreo firmware on their 955F ?
With Nougat I could easily get around 7 hours SOT, now it went down to around 4 to max 5 hours of SOT. I am a heavy user (videocalls, normal and bluetooth calls, watch videos, text a lot, etc.).
I have found a thread on another forum of people experiencing the same battery drain click. I just wanted to confirm if people here also noticed it and maybe have a possible solution ?
I flashed Oreo on my S8+ Exynos using this thread. I sideloaded it, although I had to flash the last part (CRAP) with SD card because for some weird reason adb didn't work anymore after flashing the first firmwares (just a heads-up for any of you who want to try to force update their S8/S8+).
Other than the battery drain though I must say the performance is insane, the phone has become an absolute beast (yes, even faster than it runs on Nougat)! But I want my 7 hours of SOT back..
PS. Samsung paused the updates to the "CRAP" oreo update for now, apparantly due to some devices experiencing random reboots (I don't have this problem). So they are only gonna resume the rollout of oreo to the S8/S8+ when they patched this. Maybe this patch will also resolve the battery drain.
I agree the battery life has decreased. I am typically below 40% at bedtime compared to above 50% with Nougat. Could be this is the price for improved performance
Its been a day, give it chance! A phone will use more for the first few cycles after a major update.

I've been running it for 4 days now, didn't really see any improvement yet. After some research it seems S8 users experience the same problem, I found similar threads over there from battery drain with the "CRAP" update.
Guess for now we just have to be patient until the next patch comes out.
Yes. I have the same problem. Used to get plus 6 hours sot. Now getting a little ut above 4.
Same problem and very unhappy about it.
3 hours SOT is about the max. I get when it used to be 5-6.
Has anyone factory reset the device and does that help?

Thank you for the feedback.
This must be a joke from Samsung, very disappointing and has me lose interest in the Samsung brand big time.
While the hardware is really nice, the software is mediocre. Slow updates and now this disaster with Oreo. After 4 months of testing this is nothing short of embarrassing.
Don't even get me started about the Samsung Experience vs. stock Android. Using my 2015 Nexus 5x is a pleasure in comparison. And as of lately with Oreo they are almost on par in terms of battery duration.
Could it be possible that the mix of usage patterns vary and consequently this leads to variations in screen on time.
I have been on OREO ON S8+ since February 9th, I haven't noticed a significant change to maximum screen on time.
Screen on time today just over 9 hours

Exynos or snapdragon?
Im struggling getting 4h SOT.. with Nougat that was easily 6+h
I also have a higher drain with Oreo. But the simplest thing to test is flight mode. I use flight mode for night (about 7 hours) and now I loose 12% every night in flight mode with a Deep sleep of 99%!!!
Gsam or such Utilities shoes nothing, Deep sleep is 99%, doze mode 98% of time and 12% battery drain (around 1.6%/h)???
With data enabled it's not really much more, no idea what's causing this...

I think the new firmware update will fix this battery drain issue
Anyone who can confirm the increased consumption in flight mode (about 1.5% per hour), was about 0.2 to 0.5% per hour with nougat...

I can confirm that.
Before the Oreo update I lost around 3-4% of charge over night, now it´s at almost 20% without anything obvious draining the battery. The phone is in deepsleep all the time...
Samsung knows how to ruin their devices with firmware updates.

Yes I’m not gone upgrade to future version until Android P arrived(wherever take that).
Vivo lately fix something and broken something else with September software update.
I’ve made the last one because I had trouble with push notifications from various app that from time to time didn’t work normal and was really annoying.
I’m talking for previous version 1.18.4 that got earlier September.
With all previous version didn’t had any kind that issue.
Fortunately current newer version seems until now resolved that issue had with 1.18.4.
I’m gone monitoring it.

Reboot correct for now
I noticed a very fast gps localization as I launched Google Maps probably faster than before. I had some disconnection during my bike sessions. I'll tell you later if it has improved
Tell me if you want me to test something in particular
This update is supposed to bring better network speed and call quality and bluetooth...
I have not tried any of those really I cant comment on those, but maybe I imagine things but it feels that the last update was faster then the new one... maybe.. it will feel as fast again after I let it run for a while.. and I have put all apps in memory etc...
Snapchat did lagg litte bit.. first time... it did not with the last rom..so.. I dont know.. maybe it will be back to same speed tomorrow.
so take this with a grain of salt but I would like to try the two roms side by side and compare app opening times etc.

Not having any complaint.
Battery life solid as before, push notifications working normal so far.

2nd day everything runs good as suspected it takes some time to fill up Dalvik chache for the system.
Only lag I see is in snapchat..but it could be that snapchat is just a crap software... I cant remember if it did lag before I think not..
Battery life feels better now, maybe it is because I run Rootless Pixel launcher now, but it feels better then before also.
I see no reason to not install this update.
thanks.. in download now...
