Does anyone agree that sony still hasn't rolled out the "fixed" nougat? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on Xperia Z5 (E6653, Vodafone UK) haven't still got Nougat, I know it takes some time for it to arrive to carrier based devices but the problem is that this new 32.3.A.0.376 Has only rolled out to regions that received Nougat before. XperiFirm shows that only 4 regions; Australia, Philippines, Russia and Thailand have got the update. the same regions were also the first regions who got the first Nougat build, Judging by a little number jump on the build number (3 to 6), I'm thinking this is a little update to fix some little bugs, not major stuff. I think the major update is yet to come with big fixes. What do you guys think?

I do hope so, along with the latest security patches. fingers crossed.

@Daniel Craig
You have NOT nougat. (376)
You did not experience nougat. (376)
Why did you ask this question?
What do you expect from Nougat?
It has nougat features, but nothing special.

Look I might not have Nougat but I've seen it on a friends Z5 in which he flashed it, it's good but he says it got bugs. your third question I won't answer because It's already answered on the first post. and all I want from Nougat is a bug-free and smooth running update, although Xperia X lockscreen and manual camera controls would be nice which they didn't include.

You have a good point and I was thinking along the same lines, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the fixed Nougat and it is just that buggy.
The update rolled out near the end of the week and they don't seem to roll out updates on weekends often. If I recall RU was also one of the first to get Marshmallow and places like Taiwan only got it a week later. 6.1 took even longer for some places...
EDIT: Also, TH did not get Nougat before. They got the small .11 update in the weeks after Nougat was pulled back.

Let's just hope it gets to UK fast, or I'm gonna flash the AU firmware.

I have audio playback issue, Music and third-party apps' sound won't play together and there's lag in call log, though photo analyzer is fast now.
Anyone with the same issues or a fix?

Well I do think they're taking too long this time around.... The weekend is over and still no Z5 updates. They did roll out the update on the Z4 tablet yesterday but that was it...

I am in Middle East, Iran , got lastest update android N via flash tools ( also I got it OTA)
But It is a total shame!
Battery drains so fast , apps get crashed some times , and you can't believe it is your SONY Z5!
I had real bad experience with Nougat, so decided to roll back to 6.0.1 , much better.
Waiting for an update from SONY to get best features.

It's worth upgrading for me. Super smooth, no battery drain, pleasing battery icon, no more sim tag in status bar is awesome. Call log UI is great, finger print sensor is blazing fast. Not obsessed with X locksreen anyway. Camera swipe to change camera is great.
Disappointing is that we don't have Vulkan, I don't know why.

I have this issue : when placing a call with speaker on, the mic doesn't work. Could you guys try and tell me?

Which version are you on? 376 or 372? I'm on 372 still haven't updated to 376 and I can say the volume bug is the worst bug I've ever encountered, I can't hear my ringtone. There's also this bug in which contacts and phone apps' accent colors don't change.

I had to rollback to mm, actually using romx because Nougat has a terrible thermal management and battery give me about 2 SOT

I'd hate to disagree on that. Nougat has better thermal management than on MM. But I guess it varies from person to person.

What variant are you using? I tried Au and phi, I got about 2 sot, on mm used to get 4 hours.
Someone told to try the Russian variant

I updated to 376 and I can say that the battery life is much much better, fingerprint is very fast sometimes I just press the power button and it unlocks, volume bug is fixed and thermal management is great; there's no annoying heat. And the reason there's no Vulkan is that the drivers for it hasn't been released for 810.

Your accent bug is fixed on phone and contacts? Here check this screenshot, I'm running a dark gray accent theme but the phone app shows a blue accent, other apps like messaging and settings work fine. Just phone and contacts.

The big difference is battery life, long press icons for notifications, picture in picture, security patches, updated google camera apks, settings upgrades, bluetooth 5.0, sound upgrades (apt X for example). All stock, no root required.

There are 19 issues resolved in the December security patch dated 2017-12-01 and 28 in the 2017-12-05 one.
The update bulletin for Google’s phones and tablets lists 48 additional fixes, including those for the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability.
Why wouldn't you want better battery life and improved security for a phone that you have alot of personal stuff on?
I don't think the problem is the improvements (or lack thereof), it's that Oreo was literally released a few weeks ago, many other phones still don't have it, and people are already expecting 8.1.

Oreo 8.1 for HTC U11 has so far 1 useful tool
I think some people don't realize that going from 7.1 to 8.0 to 8.1 has some bug fixes as such
Bluetooth with 7.1 was a complete issue (only) in my Car using UConnect (Audio stream was skipping like a record and playing in slow mo) Bought phone Unlocked June of 2017 when released had quite a few updates still no fix for BT, did some read ups on the Android site that tells you a version history and what the fixes and features added are, If we got Nougat 7.1.2 then BT would have been fixed but no we jumped to 8.0 which is now Cert BT 5.0, Now my BT works as it should, so yes i like my updates sometime can't wait to get the next one, like 8.1 Scrolling will be way smoother and BT will have a battery gauge on the phone to tell you where your battery level is, plus other numerous features and bug fixes....
This isn't a Rant, Just a Note from someone that likes his updates

I have the UK version of the U11 and it has Oreo 8.0. Curiously I still have that Bluetooth bug that causes the audio to skip and play more slowly than it should. I've discovered a workaround. Just reboot the device. It reboots quite quickly anyway. When Bluetooth reconnects to my Inateck BR1006 AptX HD receiver, all is well. AptX HD is pretty awesome. With the BR1006, I can listen to music via a 2:1 speaker system or my Sennheiser headphones and the quality is flawless. No need for a headphone socket on this U11. ?

Has anyone else got the January update? Nobody's been talking about any changes...

I got this a couple of days ago but have seen no mention of it on this forum. It only seems like a security patch though.

I have been saying that same thing for a long time.
If you are going to be snarky about an existing thread, you could at least post a link to it! This one came up on the search when I started to post a new topic suggesting it was similar to my question.
Here's the question I was going to post, but will post it here instead so there is "not open 100 same threads over and over". (since there was no link to the original post that was about this update and it didn't show up on the suggestions)
I received the first Oreo update on 03-Jan-18: Oreo 8.0.0, Security Patch level December 1, 2017
My understanding is that Xiaomi has started rolling out the second Oreo update that fixes a number of problems in the first release, but I have yet to get it. We own two A1's, and my wife's A1 has yet to get either Oreo update and mine has not received a January security patch or the latest Oreo update.
I'm just wondering if any of you who got the original Oreo update has received the latest one?

EDIT: Right after I posted this, it arrived on my phone! Now I just have to decide if I really want to apply it. With all the issues reported, I am not sure. The first update seems to work well for me: no camera lag to speak of (1 sec), notifications work properly as far as I can tell, etc. The only downside is a 'quieter' audio output, so not sure about rolling the dice and applying the upgrade. Will wait a few days to see what others experience.
EDIT 2:
I went ahead and did the update. Sound seems to have changed again. I went into my music app and changed the EQ to Flat and the sound was much better. I did not hear any hissing, even with classical music, but old ears may be the issue there. I don't use BT unless needed, so cannot address that issue. So far, notifications and icons all seem to work as they should. Camera app is unchanged at ~1 second from press of camera icon to ready. Fingerprint reader seems to have gotten faster, though it was no slouch (compared to my iPad) before. So far, battery usage is what I consider normal, but I don't use the phone for a lot of high drain things like watching videos or playing games. My battery easily lasts 2 to 3 days and is what I consider normal. If this changes with the new update, I will update this post.

Yes I’m not gone upgrade to future version until Android P arrived(wherever take that).
Vivo lately fix something and broken something else with September software update.
I’ve made the last one because I had trouble with push notifications from various app that from time to time didn’t work normal and was really annoying.
I’m talking for previous version 1.18.4 that got earlier September.
With all previous version didn’t had any kind that issue.
Fortunately current newer version seems until now resolved that issue had with 1.18.4.
I’m gone monitoring it.

I started the update and then I've read your warnings:silly::silly:
Reboot correct for now
I noticed a very fast gps localization as I launched Google Maps probably faster than before. I had some disconnection during my bike sessions. I'll tell you later if it has improved
Tell me if you want me to test something in particular
This update is supposed to bring better network speed and call quality and bluetooth...
I have not tried any of those really I cant comment on those, but maybe I imagine things but it feels that the last update was faster then the new one... maybe.. it will feel as fast again after I let it run for a while.. and I have put all apps in memory etc...
Snapchat did lagg litte bit.. first time... it did not with the last rom..so.. I dont know.. maybe it will be back to same speed tomorrow.
so take this with a grain of salt but I would like to try the two roms side by side and compare app opening times etc.
New update 1.19.5(Chinese version)
So far 2 days now everything good.
Not having any complaint.
Battery life solid as before, push notifications working normal so far.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
2nd day everything runs good as suspected it takes some time to fill up Dalvik chache for the system.
Only lag I see is in snapchat..but it could be that snapchat is just a crap software... I cant remember if it did lag before I think not..
Battery life feels better now, maybe it is because I run Rootless Pixel launcher now, but it feels better then before also.
I see no reason to not install this update.
thanks.. in download now...
Now I get the new version and everything works fine.

Spain.
Understood.
Got it yesterday in Sweden. I got feedback that the microphone audio is low anyone else experienced that ?
The most problematic thing is the dialer:
If you use a DUAL SIM option, and you would like to make a call the dialer always ask to select the SIM card for the call, there is no chance to promote or set the default SIM CARD for the desired number. I have more than 500 contact, I tried with several numbers only 1 person on my contact list where the dialer give opportinity to set the default CALLING SIM CARD for the number.
This is a piece of sh.t... I tried to figured out what is the differece for this one number... I have NO idea..

No. Microphone audio seems fine here. Basically there's VERY little difference between this and 8.0 for me besides the horizontal recent apps and some other UI things. I'm sure once I start optimizing my app for Pie there are bigger changes at the programming level.

I'm assuming this is the model with THREE slots for two sims AND an SD card slot? Mine just has the option for either two sims OR one sim and one SD card.
The biggest problem for me has been with the browser. A LOT of sites I frequent (such as this one) aren't working right. For example I can't even LOAD yahoo.com
I also don't like how Do Not Disturb works now. You used to be able to hold volume down to enter do not disturb and volume up to get out of it. Now you have to touch the screen. That's a pretty big step backwards. (Especially when you're in a situation where you actually NEED DND and you don't have your whole hand free and aren't in a position to LOOK at the screen.)
Don't know WHY they did that. It was working just fine.
Other than that... there doesn't seem to be any large external differences between Oreo and Pie.
I'm going to be curious to see what kind of internal differences I get to play with as a programmer on my app.
In Hungary also I got it. The only audio problem remains the same (from the first time). For the first 0.5sec audio volume is low - even if it set to max.
The other problem that the contact names disappeared after a while, seems to be solved.
Which is annoying: volume rockers are changing NOT ringer volume but media volume, which is stupid.

Man have you got the pie update yet? I'm in Spain, too.

Emui 11, does anyone have it? (Not beta)

Fido shows the emui 11 update as being released yesterday but I haven't gotten it yet. I tried erecovery but it shows I'm on the latest (.175). Has anyone actually gotten the update yet, other than beta testers?
Yes. Middle East (C185)

From what I've read this isn't even accurate. It goes by model. I have tried every vpn location and it still says up to date.
Honestly I don't know why people want to be to the first on getting major updates. It's much better to wait and see which problems arise when others update their phone

I don't really consider this being first, beta has been out for 6 months or so now? This has been rolling out to some countries since december as well.

That doesn't mean you can't get into troubles after the upgrade. In fact, my phone received EMUI 11 yesterday, without doing any tricks to get it, and now I have a problem, the upgrade enabled VoLTE by default and the option to disable it is not longer available on the settings...
I finally got it today
Anybody feel shorter battery time on emui11? I updated yesterday and everything looks very smooth but battery seen shorter than usual
I got it a few days ago (Italy)
For one terrible discovery: when using gesture navigation, you can now have one-handed mode only with emui launcher.
With Emui 10 you had to swipe diagonally from one bottom corner of the screen. With Emui 11 you instead have to swipe horizontally on the bottom edge of the screen and keep pressed, but this gesture only works with stock launcher.
Stupid
I didn't really notice any other true change, so this update for me was worse than worthless, is it possible to downgrade?

I didn't, but in the last few weeks I've been using my phone as a wireless hotspot so it's either plugged in for charging or fastly discharging due to high 4G traffic
Btw, thanks for the tip about downgrading. I'm not very keen to reinstalling and reconfiguring everything, so I'll see how much this missing feature bugs me before going down that road
