Hi,
just got the Samsung Galaxy S8+/plus
found it very awesome,
got some app crashed such as the gallery, however after a few boots the problem is gone.
But the main part is i want to transfer or migrate the WECHAT from my old phone.
My old phone is Huawei Mate 9.
I followed, migrate all the chat from the chat migrate setting. I have 70 chats. I have a few chats over 400MB and probably 2gb to 3 gb in total.
When i try to migrate via the same WIFI network, it said "Network Disconnected" and then stop the transfer.
Are there other ways i can transfer all chats? I could be able to transfer those less than 2mb, but not those big files.
Please help!!

This is the way I have tried for those for may be interested.
I have a windows 10 surface pro. I downloaded the wechat for Windows and backup the selected chat.
Back up on pc.
Once this is finished, I log off and connect the new phone by scanning the qr code. And then select "restore to phone."
This is the way I made it for myself
All via WiFi.

Sorry mate, doing it now and it is going smooth as butter.
I took sim out of old phone (6P), popped it into s8+, updated software, messed around with a couple of apps, then simply went into chat migration on old phone and set up the scan code ready to go.
Then I logged into wechat on s8+, verified new phone with the code, then simply scanned code. Boom. all migrated.
Cheers
EDIT: Actually - wait - there's no bloody chat in it - lol.

My Quantum recently deleted some of my photos and videos.
At the end of August I ran out of room on my Quantum, so I synced with Zune on my PC and set it to delete after copying the pics to the PC. That freed up about 4 Gigs. I took a few more videos and pics and showed some of them to a friend last Thursday and all was well. That evening I took a 5 minute HD video and when I checked the pics by date, all September was gone except 1 pic and the video I just shot. I continued taking pics as usual, and today, Monday, all September pics and videos are gone except for the same single pic from September.
I tried rebooting the phone a couple of times with no success finding my missing photos and videos. The LG 800 help line could only suggest resetting the phone to see if the problem continues to happen and to send it in for warranty if I loose more pics. I would like my pics back !!
* Has anyone else had auto deletion of files or photos from a Quantum or any other Windows Phone7 device?
* Is there anyway to undelete from a Windows Phone7 device?
Thanks - David.

sorry to hear about your terrible experience with the LG Quantum. My wife and I both have the same phone (hers on NoDo, mine on Mango RTM). Neither of us had any problems with losing pictures or videos. The only thing I can think of is the sync options within the Zune Client that may cause such a problem. But this will only happen if the picture/movie has already synced to the PC. If you delete it from the PC it will be deleted from the device and if you have wireless sync enabled you may not even need to have the phone connected via the USB cable for this to happen. To prevent this from happening everything should be set to manual or items I choose in the sync options in Zune under Settings/Phone/sync options.
From what you describe this is likely not your problem though. I am afraid that once the files on the device are deleted there is no way to get them back. See here for a similar problem.
Have you synced with Zune to the PC between now and the last time you did the 4Gb? It is possible that sync automatically synced the files to your PC wirelessly (provided you have that setup). I am sure you checked the PC already...
I would test the problem with some videos that you sync to the device and see if they disappear. Set the sync options to manual (make sure you have a backup of those videos elsewhere on the PC). If they do then certainly something is wrong with the strorage of the device.
WiFi...Maybe
I will double check the WiFi sync. It is possible, although the WiFi sync has never worked before.
I will check it out when I get home...Thanks David.

I thought ours wasn't working either initially until I found out it does when it's on the charger and the battery meter is at least decent. It might take 10-15 minutes sometimes. Often it syncs our phones when we plug them into the charger overnight...
You NAILED it Bro !! There was a sync yesterday and my 'lost' photos were there. I owe you one.
I told my wife that someone on XDA would know; I can't believe I didn't check that first. Two 'techs' at AT&T and one script reader at LG were clueless, but XDA, bingo.
Thanks again - David ;-)
Yeah, I've had similair problems.
I took some pictures at a party and showed them to the friends who were already awake the next morning.
Then some more woke up and they wanted to see the pictures, so I wanted to show the pics to them but they were gone.
Luckily enough I had forwarded the pics by mail to an other friend who didn't stay over, so I could still see them by downloading them from my Gmail account.
I'm positive nobody deleted them because the phone was in front of me all the time, and nobody touched it.

phew!! I am glad you got your photos back. There are not many possibilies and I am glad that the one that doesn't delete the pictures for good is the reason, not the other.
Techs at ATT really can only help with connection problems and folks at LG with hardware problems. I wouldn't hold it against them as it is a software problem. Probably somebody from MS would have asked you to check your sync settings and folder....

You guys should consider auto uploads to SkyDrive in the future. I know it doesn't save full resolution pictures, but better than potentially losing something. Besides, there is unlimited space for photos and documents.

the other thing is that somebody who takes a ton of pictures with the phone will soon run into data plan limits or has to switch to a premium data plan. and what to do with 4Gb of video? I do not know of a setting on the phone that allows me to ONLY upload to skydrive when on WiFi.

That is coming soon to Windows Live SkyDrive (wave 5). As soon as wave 5 rolls out, Office documents and photos will not count against your storage limit.

Hi charliebrown
I have the same problem. Trying to change from my iphone to a good cell phone I'm changing to my new love "HTC ONE S". I'm surfing the web since two days but without finding any solution.
It should be possible somehow cause I found a nice migrate software for the sms. I could copy more than 5'000 SMS within minutes. Pretty amazing. If this could be helpful for you - check out http://faked.org/isms2droid/

Download iPhone WhatsApp to Android Transfer to help. It lets you migrate and merge whatsapp chat history with attachments from iPhone to Android directly on computer. Easy to use. Hope it can help.
WhatsappMigrator not opening/working
I'm not able to open this WhatsappMigrator website.
Update: As suggested by NuttyBunny in a reply below, I even tried to open it in Chrome browser on my Windows laptop but this site isn't opening. I found another program (http://www.easyphonerecovery.com/transfer-whatsapp-chat-history-messages-iphone-to-android.html) that can transfer WhatsApp chat from iPhone to Android. Someone recommended it on Android stackexchange site. This program is working flawlessly. :good: You can use it to migrate chat history from iPhone to Android.

Getting a new phone is always an exciting time. Then the realization sets in that you have to figure out how to get information from your old phone to the new one.
For the most part, a lot of the stuff we rely on is synced through various cloud services such as Google or Apple's iCloud and the transfer process is as simple as signing in on your new device.
But what about the stuff you don't sync, like SMS conversations? Or what if you're switching from iPhone to the new Galaxy S7? Enter Samsung's Smart Switch app.
Smart Switch is built into Samsung's Galaxy devices, and you'll also find a USB adapter included in the box with your phone. Don't lose it! That seemingly useless piece of plastic is the magical part of Smart Switch.
Transfer WhatsApp (with attachments) from iPhone (6S) to Android Y9 (2018)/Honor 8X/8C
Hello Developers! I have spoken to quite a few IT professionals and googled but have not found a solution for this issue. I have even purchased dr.fone Wondershare (Restore Social App) but that too gets stuck at 99%. My WhatsApp data is about 17GB and I would really like to transfer my WhatsApp from iPhone on to a new Android phone. Please help!
Hi All,
It's a bit of a surprise, but I was able to obtain WhatsApp functionalities and a SD card larger than 32gb to work on my SM-T230. I was simply playing with the device and just said let me try something here... which actually worked.
Notably, I don't have WhatsApp attached to the mobile number used to register the service on the tablet. And I used the code sent in the SMS to the phone with the mobile number to register the service on the tablet.
This is by no way detailed instructions, but I can break it down if anyone is interested in transferring WhatsApp to their tablet.

could you give instructions for whatsapp 2 tablet?
@thelous
You will need a mobile device with the intended number you want to use for WhatsApp on the tablet.
1. Obtain WhatsApp from https://www.whatsapp.com
2. Install WhatsApp on the tablet using the mobile number that's not registered to any other device using WhatsApp already.
3. During the registration process, WhatsApp servers will validate/confirm the mobile number either by a call/sms
4. Make note of the 6 digit code and enter it on WhatsApp installed on the tablet
Thank you very much! It worked for me! I had to press call me and whatsapp called to my phone, i ignored it and typed code which they sent me with SMS! Great guide! I use my tablet 100 times more than my phone and like more big screen! Thx
Don't mention it, you're welcome.
My 7 week old Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 G920VVRU4BOG9, android version 5.1.1. died yesterday for reasons unknown. It is now back on but has been wiped clean. I had to do what I believe is called a hard reset. I don’t care about anything else on this phone but I’m desperate to get back the pictures and videos. By any chance is it possible yet to recover deleted photos off of a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 (G920VVRU4BOG9)? I've been reading about it since yesterday and everything tells me I must root my phone; however, it looks like from what I am reading, even if I wanted to, I canNOT root my particular Verizon S6 model. None of the android data recovery tools appear to work without 1st rooting my phone.
I stupidly do not have a backup of my phone as I believed the VZW cloud was backing up all my data. It did not save my pictures/videos, only my contacts. Samsung tech support was worthless. I’ve disconnected the WIFI and have done almost nothing on the cell today except exchange a few necessary text messages and phone calls. I don’t want to chance overwriting anything if it can somehow be retrieved/salvaged.
I’ve tried Wondershare Dr Fone for Android, Asoftech Data Recovery, Kvisoft Data Recovery, Ease US data recovery. None have worked. Again, from what I’ve been reading, a rooted phone appears to be required in order to locate that lost data using recovery software. The problem seems to be VZW.
Anyhow, I appreciate anyone’s 2cents. If you happen to know of any Geek Squad-like, paid for services, I’m willing to pay someone to get these picture and videos back. Thank you so much for your time!

Yes, I would check Google for a backup of your pictures. I'm assuming no Dropbox account.

I have a Samsung account so I can use the "find my phone" option in case of a lost or stolen phone. I asked them if they offer any cloud backup and the rep told me NO.
I do have a Google account and Google Drive as well. I couldn't find any of my pictures there though. I really appreciate your response though. Thank you!

Try changing your search parameters in Google Play....seems I recall a co-worker having a similar issue that he was able to partially resolve using apps that were specifically for Picture recovery. If that doesn't work, you are to the "find someone who can pull stuff off flash memory" stage.

I did check there as well. I had a few pictures from 2014, but nothing recent. Thank you for the suggestion though!
I would install es file explorer on it and just go thru all the folders you can find. Even though you aren't rooted you can still copy files should you happen to find them or cache versions of them. You can copy you just can't modify or write to the system folders and such. I used this just yesterday to copy the launcher apk of my Moto Maxx 2 so I could copy out the stock wallpapers. Haha. Good luck.

A hard reset formats the user data partition. Those files are gone.
I have gone through the list of all forums and also the FAQ in this forum and to me it seems that this is the right place. Please feel free to suggest or move this thread to some other forum if I made a mistake.
I am unable to play whatsapp voice messages on a Lenovo a 7700 android 6.0 device. I also tested on another Lenovo device which is a tablet 8.
In both cases, after pressing the play button, the content is played for approximately a second and then it stops playing. The user has to press the play button again and it will play the content for approximately another second again.
This started happening almost simultaneously about a month ago. I am assuming that there may be a whatsapp update that happen automatically on both of these devices. All I can find is that a whatsapp had recently changed the voice file format. But I am able to play with the new voice file format on both devices if I share the content to my email and then download and play it.
I have tried a variety of after researching various links on the Internet but have not been able to resolve the issue. Since the only thing that is common between the two mobile devices on which I tested this android 6.0 version, I'm wondering if there is any problem with that specific version.
Thanks for any inputs
I only way I could communicate with the outside world using a computer in device. So this is very important to me.
Thank you
Are you sure that your WhatsApp Messenger is the latest version, Version 2.17.422? If not, upgrade it and try again, please.
I upgraded to 2.17.427
Thank you for your response. I upgraded to the latest version of the reading your response. The earlier version was in the 300 series.
I'm still facing the same issue in both the devices.
Here is a query that may possibly at least provide some kind of a workaround.
There's whatsapp rely on an external player or does it have an internal player? Can I somehow configure it to use an external player? If so, then I can download a player specifically for that file format.
When I send the file as an attachment in email and then download the file and then play using Google play music, it works okay. The problem is that it is difficult for me to do all of these steps with the problem in my hands.
Even if there is some way where I can share this whatsapp message with the voice automatically to a player which can then play it, that will be good. However, on android, we are not given that choice. We can only share through email, Bluetooth and share it. If I can somehow configure whatsapp to share the messages to an audio player, that would also work.
Thanks for any inputs.

Thank you for your response. I checked whatsapp but there is no cache setting available on whatsapp.
There is an option that tells you about the storage used for photo whatsapp and I deleted the storage for one particular contact and then tried sending a voice message through the same contact. It still does not work.
I have double checked the version. It is shown on the help/app info menu.
It is kind of surprising that I am the only one who seems to be having a problem and that too at multiple devices. I don't even own one of the devices which is Lenovo. However, it has been installed more than one year ago and has been working fine.

Thank you for your response. I cleared the cache. It did not work. Ultimately, I uninstalled whatsapp. Then I reinstalled again (without rebooting the phone). Whatsapp was able to find messages from Google Drive and asked me if I wanted to restore them? In the hope to fix the issue, I wanted to do a completely new start so I did not restore the messages also.
It is still showing the problem. I'm really perplexed as to what can whatsapp remember after installation that the same problem is still being experienced. Is there something external to whatsapp that could because the problem?
