How should one tell at this stage, as the device is not even shipped yet. Man take it easy. I'm sure SunShine devs will try to gain S-OFF, when they get their hands on this device, but be patient instead of opening a thread for such an ETA like question. That's not the way XDA works.
If you'd have read through the other threads you'd have found an answer already...
If I was you, first off I would think a lot more about the fact if a TWRP will be released and officially maintained, as otherwise development of custom ROMs, rooting and everything else won't be possible.

You of course are right.

[Q] HTC Desire S s-Off and ROOT

Hi there everybody,
I'm probably in the wrong section of the forum, and my questions are nubby I know, but I get confused.
My Desire S is S-ON, and I would like to get is S-OFF. Is this possible, because it is needed to be able to root the phone right?
And an offtopic question, what is a flash-able app, and what is the difference with a normal custom .apk which can be installed from the sd card.
Thanks in advance

It seems that HTC reverse its decision to block everything on the latest versions, after the petition that circulated on the net, requesting the release.

Actually, no.
From the same article:
"In short: custom ROMs, kernels, and recoveries (like ClockworkMod) may never come to the EVO 3D, barring some kind of epic HTC screw-up."

People have been attempting to contact HTC and letting them know that they are in breach of the open GPL compliance act by not releasing the kernel source, which would allow s-off (I think, that's what I get from it..)
See this thread for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629933
They're pretty much saying it will be out in 90-120 days. Don't get why it takes so long when the one x and one v both got it already, but I'm assuming they have some kind of reasoning for it.

I'm not sure that Kernel Source will do anything for S-Off as the kernel is not part of the HBoot. Unless Kernel Source also includes a new S-Off HBoot, which I doubt it. To obtain S-Off an exploit (like with the Sensation) will need to be found or an HTC signed HBoot that provides S-Off.
Kernel Source will allow custom kernels with speed tweeks, OC/UV, OTG, etc. etc.

What I meant was I hoped HTC released S-OFF HBoot after the kernel sources were released. I doubt they would release a signed HBoot before the kernel.

For those who are interested on getting S-OFF there is a current petition that is requesting this for all HTC devices.

Give your name to the document if your interested.
Signed, I've no idea why they can make the bootloader unlocked but not give S Off, what other harm would it do, we already invalidate the warranty.

Exactly. That's why its being requested. All they would have to do would release a signed HBoot with S-OFF for each device. Or provide a universal tool. Either way would work for me.

If you could provide S-OFF for the One S that would be amazing.
I hope that S-OFF for one x can be used to develop s-off for one S. I've a vodafone it branded one s and so I can't restore original firmware with RUU_Ville_.exe file.
Iff there is any other devs wanting to work on it I would be happy to get something started?

If you contact torxx, xkonni, Reviewers, or Untouchable I'm sure you could get some help. I know they are busy but those are some of the main devs working on the One S right now.
Why don't you guys get in touch with juopunotbear? website www.unlimited.io
They made s off possible in many devices when many thought we couldn't or wouldn't.

Haha well I apologize for the assumption. I know HBoot has nothing to do with android programming directly but you would be surprised what people know. Im trying to see if I can contact the revolution team. The team that has gotten S-OFF for a lot of HTC devices so far.

[Q] Roll back at&t evita one x from the JB OTA

AT&T Evita One X
I did the JB OTA update to 3.18 and am curious how (if possible) to rollback to 2.20?
I have searched XDA for similar threads, but no luck. If I have started a new thread of something previously discussed, please point me in the right direction.

If you were s-off or at least unlocked beforehand, yes. If you were never rooted, no, unless you can get the X-factor exploit to work for you.

Neither one. Had to do an exchange of my old hox due to an issue that arose after root.
X-Factor??
Is that a root method?
Used a couple of Hansoon's last time to achieve root.
Haven't found a "one click" method for the AT&T Evita yet.

Yeah, I kinda found that out the last time I rooted my hox. Used a couple different Hansoon all in one toolkit to achieve root last time. Unfortunately, no way to get s-off as of now. (unless something JUST happened)
Had to do a warranty exchange on my HOX also; the warranty device center rep thought i was weird for asking for a refurb that had 2.20 firmware...

As you're with Telstra you will be able to unlock the bootloader on your device through htcdev then install the custom recovery then flash a rom with root as there is currently no root exploit for Jellybean.
As suggested above though do your homework first.

Why don't you try firewater s-off to see if the exploit still works? Please report back with your findings.
eidt: devs have said it could brick device, would not recommend doing it.

Not sure why anyone is suprised. Those of us with the M7 knew this month's ago. For the first day after the M7 was released you could use HTC DEV unlock then VZ made HTC lock that down for the M7.
I too hoped maybe VZ had not gotten to HTC yet for the M8 so I tried but no luck. Will need to wait for rumrunner or firewater to be updated to support the M8. It may take a while....

Yes sir. Rumrunner gave you S-Off which is "Signature Off". Once that is set, you can flash custom recoveries and then custom rom's. It took months for the team to get this working and I know it did not work on 4.4.2. I think we are in for a long wait. If you bought this hoping you could get custom rom's you might want to reconsdier. If you like the phone and can live with it stock for a few months, it's a great device.
The M7 was the best phone I ever had and I swap phones a lot.
