Hi,
i've bought 2 days ago the tab. It's a branded TIM (italian carrier).
So i've decided to fit a stock rom like in the tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686514.
Everithing is fine, but i now don't see the 16gb.
If i tap settings/memory i get:
Memory on board
1,97 gb total
sd card
it's empty because noone is inserted
Then i run titanium backup to get some more info and i get:
internal rom 1.26gb (269 mb free)
internal: 2.11GB (1.79 gb free)
sd card: 2.11GB (1.79 gb free)
sd card and internal are the same thing for titanium backup ?? They are the same.
Could you please help me to find the lost ram ??
THANK YOU
PS If i insert a micro sd, in titanium backup i've one more row:
ext. sd card: 3.95 gb (2.73 gb free)

which galaxy tab 2 version did you have, currently there are 3 version for the 7 inch alone, P3110 (wifi only), P3113 (wifi only plus iR), and P3100 (with GSM enabled). The P3113 have 8 GB storage while the rest is varied between 16 - 32 GB.
I've the gt-5100 wifi+3g 16gb
Weird, on my P3100 (7 inch GSM 16 Gb) there's 11.87 Gb total in settings>memory. Could it be because yours is carrier branded version which usually has been modified to some extent, maybe try rooting and installing new stock / custom rom and see the result again?
I need your help.
I've started with CWM, done a full wipe (dalvik, cache, user)
Installed another rom (the Fry rom)
Done again a full wipe.
I get the same free space as on first post
I have the same problem, and when i flashed stock rom with the pitefile, i got 4.56Gb total memory on board.......Still missing about 8gb...
I have solved the problem guys. You have to flash the stock rom with a pifile called signed_espresso_20120220_16G, this opens for 16gb total memory. I have the file, but i cant upload it, so send me your mail adress and i will mail the file to you ho needs it.
Is it for the 10" or the 7" ??
I've done a search on google and i'm not sure what the file is for ... and it seems to be for the 7" version of the gtab.
Any further info ?
thank you
PS
when i used odin to install the rom i did not checked re-partion, following the instruction of the link on the first page. I installed the stock rom and then the ram was 2gb. Then i've installed the fry rom (that is a stock plus some whistle) with a full wipe. But i've the same problem.

solved it man....
just go to settings, back up and reset, factory data reset, reset device....wait few sec's and got 12gb storage .
NOTE: this wipes all your data (contacts ,photos, music, etc.) if you do not have backup.

Try downloading the official non branded firmware from sammobile.com or samfirmware.com, flash it using odin and use full wipe / erase.

Try like this:
Install CWM
Download any custom ROM
Go to Recovery
Do Factory Reset
Format /system
Format /data
Install new ROM
It should help. If not, something wrong is with partition. Odin has a function "Re-Partition" but I don't know how it works and I don;t know if it won't damage (brick) tablet
I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES!

brother do like this
1 Go to Recovery
2 wipe cache partition
no need to format anything if you are on stock rom and also no factory reset
after this install root uninstaller and uninstall unwanted apps
you will definitely have more free system space
good luck :good::good: i hope i helped you
OK so my brother just got him a Verizon Galaxy S3 and it was already updated to 4.4.2. He uses it quite a bit but the battery still drains way too fast. There's also a storage problem, if you go into storage in settings it says that miscellaneous files are using up 14 GB! If you click on miscellaneous files it shows System Data or System Memory is using up 13.68 gb of the 14 gb. The phones also overheats really bad.
OK just to recap 1) Battery Drain, 2) Storage and 3) Overheats. Are there any ways to fix these three problems? Right now its got superlight ROM on it and safestrap recovery(because stock 4.4.2 was laggy as crap). Please help.

I picked up a used i535 at the end of May that was already on 4.4.2, the owner was selling due to short battery life. I did what your brotherdid; I rooted the phone, installed SafeStrap, and then flashed SuperliteROM. I am not using it as a phone, mostly I am learning about different xPosed modules with it and seem to have very good battery life.
Can he find a source for the battery drain? If the stock battery app is not specific enough try BetterBatteryStats. There are other similar apps available.
Did he put SuperliteROM in slot 1, the stock slot, or are both it and the stock ROM on the device? I only have SuperliteROM on mine and have over 11GB of available space of the 16GB internal memory. If both are present that would account for much of the lack of space. If he made nandroid backups they could take up a lot of space. Did he do full wipes of cache, dalvik, etc during the flashing process? If it wasn't new he may want to wipe/format the internal sdcard -- make sure this doesn't mess up the SafeStrap install before doing so. There are disk useage/ disk info apps which may point out the source of the used space.
Does he still have overheating issues if he closes background apps?

Is it a new phone or is it a used phone?
A search of the i535 forums using overheat as a key word gives several results. More than one mentions the battery. If it is new the simple solution may be to restore to stock and then go to Verizon. It could be they would replace the phone, but then they may swap batteries. Others had overheating issues if they had been flashing a lot of ROMs, suggestions were to restore to stock. There were no replies saying if returning to stock worked or not. Likewise none of those who received new batteries stated if that was a fix for them.
Did you find the source of the battery drain?
Were you able to increase the available disk space?
I am using galaxy s4 gt i9500. The internal memory available for the 16gb variant is about 8 gb, out of which i have hardly used 1 gb. I don't know where the rest of the memory has gone. Is it possible to format or something(except the factory reset; it didn't help) like we can format the sd card. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

A large amont of the space is your rom im guessing around 3-5gb then u have probly another 2-3gb for ur stock apps then anything u install after that. They say 16/32/64 or 128 on the box but thats never the room u get software always takes up a large portion. Luckily ur device has a sd card slot i believe so u can use that to expande ur storge for a relatively cheap price.
If you need more room on the device you can always root and install custom software or uninstall apps with titanium backup but be careful read the guides in your device forum and follow them properly.
Root your phone and install link2sd.this will solve your storage problem.
First of all your rom will take a lot, second of all your apps and your old apps data incase you used a custom recovery to factory reset, and third of all Cashe it self could reach up to 1 gb.

I understand that the rom may take a large amount of memory but i dont think so that it can take upto 7-8 gb. I have cleared all the cache so it cannot be cache either. I think i may have used custom recovery to factory reset. But when i use file manager to view my internal the total is around only 400 mb including all the folders (like android, dcim, etc)
Btw, I'm running cm12.1. Do you think reverting back to my stock rom would help?
Please help as this is really irritating because most of my apps crash due to low memory.
Thanks.

Yup the issue is that you used a costume recovery to factory reset, I had that issue as well with my note 3 until I realized that all apps data were installed but I didn't see them even on file manager, so I just downloaded a stock firmware and did a stock factory reset and then everything was good as new!

Are there known issues w/ TWRP for Pie on our device where it can't decrypt the external SD card? (Yes, I searched, but the only thing I could find were people suggesting that people search for answers, so that didn't help much).
I unlocked the bootloader, adb'ed TWRP 3.2.3-5 temporarily, but no matter what I do TWRP can't mount my SD card. I've set an unlock p/w and a decrypt p/w and neither allow me to view the contents of the SD card. I also formatted the SD card but TWRP was only able to see it after i changed it to EXT2 then to EXT4, but then it reverts to not seeing it after rebooting the device and dropping Magisk onto the card itself.
So now I'm stuck w/ unlocked stock Pie which isn't rooted because I can't flash Magisk. I was unable to find a way to adb Magisk onto the device to avoid TWRP, but alas, I don't think that's possible.
So, am I an idiot (100% likely) or are there known issues where we can't actually root via TWRP (either temp install or perm install) and I've just got to be patient until it happens? (Or maybe downgrade to Oreo, root, flash an Oreo ROM e.g. LeeDroid then update it through Magisk).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dunno about this as i relocked mine but mine was working fine from SDCARD, btw latest version of twrp is 3.3.1-0, apart from this why not putting magisk zip and magisk manager into phone storage and flash from there instead of using SDCARD?

It's nothing to do with the format of the Sdcard, it won't mount anything larger than 32gb when flashing from the Sdcard (Sdcard ruu flashing) it also won't allow you to flash magisk in temp twrp, Ive tried formatting all cards i have ,then tried again. In one of the main instructions of rooting it says no bigger than 32gb can be used. I can flash HTC 10,U11 & U11+ using a 128gb card but not the U12+ ,it won't recognise it in the bootloader /download mode when trying flash but works with any 32gb card I've tried (fat or exfat) I'm using a cheapy, this caused me no end of grief when I tried to root, twrp 3.3.1 was the only version I could boot twrp (2.47.709.1 htc 621)

It won't mount Sdcard for flashing if bigger 32gb, had to buy a card lol, you can downgrade on HTC u12+ . I bricked mine & went to 1.53.709.3 ,took ages though & several reboots after flashing Sdcard method, there's a exodus thread on how to do it, I did it on dugl imagine ruu, Sdcard method. Have you looked on Android file host for ruu?
