finally!!! free hotspot on my galaxy s7 edge sprint version no root needed - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Disc

hello everyone
The first thing you need is your MSL code from Sprint. You can do this by simply calling the Sprint customer service and ask to provide you the MSL code after saying an alibi like slow connection. You can also use any MSL Utility app that is working on your device. Some users have reported that the MSL Utility app did not work for them.
Now open the dialer and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
Click on the Edit button in the popup and enter your MSL code and click OK.
Now navigate to APN settings from the Mobile Networks menu
the add button is gray, now stay on this page and remove your sim card and wait until you can click on add
after that add a new apn same like APN2 LTE internet setting
after you fill all field insert your sim card and save it after that choose the apn that you save
i can make a video to explain how it work

thanks good to know, doesnt seem to work i have my msl went to the data programming screen went to apns, pulled sim card and waited add stayed greyed out. how long did you wait?

Sprint customer service no longer is willing to hand out the MSL codes for phones that are on lease or are on a payment plan. I guess some folks figured out a way to unlock the phone once they had the MSL, and ruined this for the rest of us (I am on a 1/2 price installment to buy plan on an S9 I got through Costco, and it can't be paid off early because the 1/2 off is given as a partial credit each month for 24 months.).
Oh, and the MSL app doesn't work on the S9.

Have an old sprint phone?
online at sprint.com,
Swap/Activate an old sprint phone on the Phone# you want MSL for.
After activating online,
the complete activation page has
'Activation code'
That is the MSL for that phone.
Wait a few hours and
reswap/reactivate to GS7,
Activation code is MSL.

You don't even need to swap phone activation, it'll tell you the activation code if you visit the legacy Sprint site.
Go to Sprint.com/activate (be logged in first) and then exit out of the activation box that pops up. Scroll down and find your device and in the drop down menu on the right, one of the options should give you the activation code.

How to input unlock code for G2x

(mod, please put it sticky for reference)
First of all, you have to obtain unlocked code. You can obtain from T-Mobile if you passed 3 months after you requested last unlocked code, and the phone passed 14 days (30 days in CA) trial. It is recommended to request it through online chat to ensure it's 100% correct (you can obtain your IMEI by key in *#06# from dial. Make sure you triple-check it).
After you obtained your unlocked code, go to dialer (you don't have to have foreign SIM but it is recommended to test) and input
2945#*999#
(this method works with ANY LG GSM Android phone because #*xxx# is actually your phone model. For example, Optimus T is P509 then #*509# and G2x is P999 so #*999#)
Enter unlock code correctly. Once you verified everything is correct, you can press the button below, and the phone will reboot, then the phone is unlocked.
-----edit-----
Notice: you must with stock ROM in order to make it work. If you flashed it with custom ROM, use your Clockworkmod to backup your current ROM and install stock ROM (2.2 in order to root it).
After you successfully unlocked it, you can go to CWM and restore it back.

This is strange because I was not asked for receipt for the phones purchased from corp store or my t-mobile. It may be possible you didn't purchase under your phone number.
If you are in good standing, thet wouldn't ask you for anything. I bought my g2x off CL, and I got my unlock code through email with no problem whatsoever, got my code 8 hours after i've requested it.

Thanks,

It didn't work on my Optimus T. I exactly followed the instruction but there's NO prompt when I put in old Wataniya (from Kuwait) SIM, so I did a search and found the working instruction.
It was used for Optimus P540, but I found it also works with Optimus T (change to 509) and G2x (change to 999) and I got an unlock prompt even with T-Mobile SIM.
Got my unlocked code from tmobile within 12hrs for my G2x that I purchased from ebay. All the lady ask for was the IMEI number.
do u noe the unlock code for phonetestmode or hiddenmenu?
Just wanted to say the OP was correct. I used the 2945#*999# to unlock my G2X and it worked perfectly. Only thing I should have known is that it won't work if you are on Wifi Calling. It needs a GSM signal to request the unlock.
P.S. I got the unlock code from unlockthatphone.com for $15. Took 12 hours to get it.
Wanted to say thanks for this thread. I chatted with a T-Mobile representative yesterday via the website and the request got sent in around 12:30 Eastern. Twenty-three hours later I had the code waiting in my inbox.
I decided to try an old, deactivated AT&T SIM I had in an old phone and it worked just fine to enter the unlock code. I would have used the Dialer method mentioned in the OP if that didn't work though, as I was able to get the unlock text box by entering the Dialer code as a test yesterday.
Thanks for the information, everyone!
I found this guide to be very helpful. I thank you as I am still waiting for my phone to arrive.

I got my unlock code from t-mobile. I put in an ATT SIM & nothing appeared - so I tried this method. What happens to me is my phone says "USSD code running..." and then it just sits there - never pops up anything for me to enter the unlock code.
I'm running CM7, so I'm wondering if I actually have to flash my phone back to stock just to unlock the damn thing - sure hope not..hahaha
Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks!

How do I get my MSL without calling Sprint?

I finally purchased a used Sprint S5 recently. My plan is to put the phone on the Boost Mobile Network. Boost Mobile stores are able to unlock my phone to Boost network, HOWEVER the MSL is needed. Well I'm sure you already know, Sprint is giving me a difficult time. A Sprint CS says the phone's ESN is clear to activate on Sprint, however due to "the way it was purchased" they could not unlock the phone (or give me the MSL) for other carriers. What do I do?

On way is to activate it on someone elses account for just 5 minutes or so. Will give you chance to make sure it works. Then reactive their own phone and you're done. Now have your friend check his email and they will have an email from sprint thanking them for activating the new phone. Look at the email.. It will show some of the device specifics like model number, phone number and also an activation code. The activation code is actually your msl. It's a standard email from Sprint whenever you activate or reactivate a phone from your PC.
So find a friend with a Sprint phone and make sure the account is in his (or her) name. Have them log into their Sprint account on a PC and once they're logged in, scroll down to the "About My Devices" section. In this section you will see is a dropdown box that says "manage my devices". Click the down arrow in the box and choose, "activate new phone". It will take to you to a very straight forward wizard to guide you thru it. Choose no to all the options that they offer and when you get to the part of the activation about resetting the phone prior to activation, don't worry about it. Just click thru the steps of demo window that pops up then close that window after the demo is done. Once you finish the demo and close the pop up window you can continue. Follow the prompts until you click the activate button and turn off the phones as per the message that pops up. When you turn on your phone it will be activated with a voice and data signal. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. Now check your friends email for your msl and you're done. Then do the same thing again but choose your friends phone to activate (as the new phone). Also note you will need the id numbers under the battery or have them ahead of time.

Thank you for the response I appreciate it. I will definitely consider. Is there any other method besides one mentioned above? I was thinking more along the lines of an apk like "Get MSL" to acquire the lock code. I've been utilizing the search function on both XDA and Google, but it seems that any method using an APK or program is defunct due to the new Software upgrade. Does anyone know of any other way?
Google GTv3.1.5.apk and GTUpdate2_v3.1.8.apk by idone.apps . The "GT" stands for Galaxy Tools; It will internationally unlock you sim as well as give you your MSL, enable hotspot etc... I beleive it was taken off google play, just google the 2 apk files and you'll find them.

XT1548 Can't change SIM

I have a Moto G XT1548 that I want to use with Mint Sim. When I insert the Mint Sim card, I'm not prompted to enter an unlock code - I received a CDMA unlock code from an online service.
I did a lot of searching, but nothing seems to be working for me. I can't even seem to get the msl/spc code for this phone so I can unlock the ##DATA# menu.
Any advice?
I had no problems unlocking the bootloader and installing lineage os 7.1.x. I'm currently back to running the stock osprey sprint 6.0.1.
Thanks.
Anyone?
No advice from anyone here?
I'm currently trying to brute force the ##MSL#. At max, it would take ~30 days.
There currently is no way to unlock a Sprint device without a Sprint SIM unlock code.
Getting your Master Subsidy Unlock code doesn't help on this device, you can't unlock it from there either. In Sprint devices since February 2015, DSU and MSU are two distinctly different things.
Most (not all) online unlock code providers are just scams, avoid them if possible unless they offer guaranteed refunds.
My understanding is that I need the msl so I can set a nv param which will enable the sim card unlock so I can use the code that I bought.
Does this make sense?
If not, what can I do with the phone?

I am not familiar with what your trying to do... but there should be no need to do any "pre-unlocking" in order to use a DSU (Domestic SIM Unlock) code on a Sprint device, but I am not the expert in Sprint either, but @MotoJunkie01 is kind of our resident Sprint guru (well, he is pretty good with all things Sprint anyway) might have some insight here.
I would advise 4 possibilities, and the first depends on a number of factors I have no idea about.
1) Get a friend who has a Sprint post paid service, and has for over a year continuously, to put their SIM in the device and use it for a couple days... then request an official unlock code. This requires that you have a friend you trust with Sprint service and that Sprint will unlock for it's customer's like AT&T (I can unlock any AT&T device with a simple web page submission since I have been a customer for some time). Then it will be GSM unlocked in the US.
2) Sell/give/trade it to someone who has Sprint service
3) Switch your service to Sprint or one of it's MVNO's
4) Use it as a WiFi only media device

I agree 100% with @acejavelin's analysis of your options. There is no known user-end mod or hack with which to perform a Domestic SIM Unlock of the xt1548. So the options he outlined are your only viable choices.
There are some Chinese hackers who have claims of being able to perform a DSU on the xt1548. However, their method has never been proven, nor have their claims been substantively backed up.
If I were to call up Sprint and ask for the MSL, they would give me a 6 digit number, right? ##MSL#?

Yes. I have MSL/SPN numbers on all 3 of my xt1548 devices. Trust me, you can edit all you want with the MSL and you still won't SIM Unlock it. These devices are network locked via encryption in the partition index (/hob, /dhob, /pds). As of now, nobody has figured out a way to decrypt these network restrictions.
The menu used to edit with the MSL on the xt1548 is ##DATA#. You can edit a lot of parameters on this device with the MSL, but unfortunately DSU isn't an option. There are MSL mods to stop data throttling on plans with limited high speed data, for example.

Is your xt1548 Sprint, or one of its MVNOs like Virgin, Boost, FreedomPop, etc? If you have Virgin or Boost, their respective websites will give you the MSL numbers via the activation page. Once you enter your IMEI (MEID Hex), and prompt for activation, you can select "Pay Later with a Refill Card." Your device will be tentatively activated, a phone number assigned, and the MSL code will also be displayed under the "Activation Status" heading. I'm not certain if the same holds true for Sprint prepaid on their website, but it's a possibility.

You can pull some nice mods with the MSL, like hard coding APN settings, network configs, reverse tunneling toggle, bypassing data throttling, etc. Unfortunately, however, due to the encrypted network restrictions, no MSL mods will enable the device to recognize a GSM SIM card.

Galaxy S8+ not prompting for unlock code

I have one galaxy s8 which was claimed to be unlocked b4 buying it,put in my sim and it's writing "invalid sim card, sim card not supported"if i go to settings and search for available networks,it will bring different networks but wont allow me to register on it.if i try to call...it will say "not registered on network"
I made an enquiry and they said if it is locked,it should prompt for an unlock code immediately i put my sim inside.even if i wana unlock again,d phone is not asking for any unlock code neither is it asking for unfreeze code.i also tried secret codes with it and it is not working #7465625*638#.it is a branded at&t phone
You may need to configure the APN for the new carrier manually. Go to settings, connections, mobile network, then APN (Access Point Names), select add and type in new APN settings.
However if that doesn't work, It may be hard locked. Meaning that an invalid sim unlock code was entered too many times. In my past experiences if it doesn't prompt you for the code when you enter a new sim card it is either hard locked or already unlocked and needs the APN settings configured. However after inserting a new sim card the phone would normally configure the APN automatically and only on occasion would I need to modify it to get data/text working properly.

I'm facing this same issue. When I got the phone I installed an unbranded firmware (XAA/XAA/ATT) and I've since upgrade to Oreo. I can't seem to restore an ATT firmware so I can be prompted to enter the unlock code. Any suggestions?
make sure you using non at&t sim and it must be an active sim card. submit an unlock request to at&t on their website or use an unlock service like attunlocker.us to get your code.

Yes, it's a T-mobile SIM.
Sorry to necro, but does no one have a solution for this? I've seen plenty of threads such as this but very few solutions.
Necro double-post, I'm really asking for it...
First, you have to get an unlock code from the carrier. I had AT&T and it told me my phone was active under an account (previous owner). When you call AT&T and ask for an ulock they loop you to the website and you can't progress there, so you just have to ask for "customer service" twice and then get to the second level support. They can get you an 8 digit code for unlock. But I still never got prompted for the code and neither AT&T (5 calls), Cricket (3 calls), or xFinity (3 calls) could tell me how to get to the unlock screen. The following did it.
My solution was to use the following method, as found on https://www.tenorshare.com/samsung/samsung-unlock-code.html:
Step 1: Open the phone and type #7465625*638*# in the dialer.
Step 2: Then, it will ask for the Samsung Reset Code, it is an 8-digit code.
Step 3: Provide it and you will be done.

eSim transfer available for AT&T on Pixel 3/3XL already?

I called an AT&T store near me (Orange, CA) and I was told they had the new blue sim card pack with the QR code and I could come in today to transfer my number to the esim from the physical...will go tomw morning to see if they know what they're talking about but in the meantime has anyone else tried it on the pixels? If so, how do I open Google's eSim manager app? It says in the play store that I have it installed but I don't see it on the phone..
In "Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Carrier" there is an "Add Carrier" option which lets you scan the QR code. I think that's what you're looking for.
I visited our local ATT store yesterday afternoon. Needed a new sim so I could get wifi calling to activate (previous sim was at least 2yrs old). I asked about using an eSim and the rep told me they had the "cards" in the back but had received instructions from ATT that they weren't supposed to be using them until further notice..... Not sure if he was just blowing smoke or not. I suppose it's also possible that eSim isn't fully operational up here in Alaska, although I wouldn't know if or why that would be. He said everything was ready, they were just waiting for word from the office to start using them.
On a plus note, wifi calling was working out of the box, once I had a more recent sim.
