Sometimes we are not satisfied enough simply to have something designed by our own hands. We need something further, something that can draw other people’s attention and make your design not only plausible to you. Yes, we all want some occasional publicity on our talent and taste that show our individuality, and nothing can achieve this more than sharing them through social media. That is why we believe that it is important that you could share your DIY theme on the internet.
It’s easy to do so, as you can find the key to share it on the top-right corner on the screen once you create a new theme with a customised photo. While sharing, you can also add some tags for your theme as I have put ‘classic’ on my theme with my favourite renaissance painting, The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli.
It is an exciting idea to share your own keyboard theme to the internet. Sharing a theme is showing your taste, but also your attitudes and lifestyles. So why not give it a try?
To find our more about DIY theme sharing, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or send us an email.

India is a land of dreams in which about a seventh of our world’s population resides. What would come across your mind when talking about India? Bollywood? Yoga? Colorful clothes? Heavy traffic? Maybe all of them.
Today is Indian Independence day, we will show you some fun facts about the beauty of “Real and Incredible India“from the perspective of our Indian artist Sandeep Ravikumar. Let’s have a look at “Desi Vibes” stickers (from Typany Keyboard) and walk into daily scenarios in India.
Auto rickshaw
A common form of urban transport in India. But one thing that makes it stand out is overloading issues. Normally more than 10 people would ride in a rickshaw with 3 available seats.
Teh tarik (literally “pulled tea”)
A symbolic hot milk tea beverage in India. Its name is derived from the pouring process of pouring back and forth repeatedly between two vessels from a height.
Snake charming
A practice of hypnotizing a snake by playing an instrument called pungi or bansuri. Not real! Just magic tricks.
Dabbawala
A lunchbox delivery and return system that delivers hot lunches from homes and restaurants to people at work in India, especially in Mumbai. Although the predominantly used transportations are bicycles, dabbawala system is very punctual.

If eclipse were a meme, what would it be?
If you are in America, lucky you! 14 states across the United States will experience a Total Solar Eclipse with more than two minutes of darkness descending in the middle of the day over the course of 100 minutes. FYI, the last one was on June 8, 1918.
Not in America? Don’t worry. Everyone in North America, parts of South America, Africa and Europe will see at least a partial solar eclipse, where the moon covers only a part of the sun. This is one of nature’s most exciting splendors that you can’t miss.
Here we provide you a cool animated Solar Eclipse theme. Try it out now searching "Solar Eclipse theme Typany" on Google Play, you will be amazed!
We’ve collected many beautiful pictures of solar eclipse, check it out on our FB page "Typany Keyboard". You got better pictures? CHALLENGE us with your best image/sketch by using #SolarEclipse2017.

Droid Dev Challenge 1: Cupcake Widget

I have been debating creating this thread because I do not want it to be seen as spam. It is not meant as spam, and I am not doing it for profit.
I have started a challenge very much like the androidandme.com Android Bounty contests. I want to get developers to start working on widgets, so I am hosting a donation pot for the reward. The contest is called Droid Dev Challenge 1: Cupcake Widget (yes, I know I suck at naming things). Please take a look at the full information here: http://android-dls.com/droid-dev-challenge.html
I do not want to quote that post because that post will probably change or even move.
If you are a developer, take a look and consider joining in to try and win the reward. If you are a user, consider a small donation of $5 or so to go to the winner of the contest. If this goes well, we will see lots of great new widgets just in time for the official Cupcake release (sometime in 2018 I believe). As is stated in the topic, none of the donations go to me or my site. Minus standard paypal deductions, the whole amount goes to the winning developer.
Also if you have any ideas on what I can add to the contest to make it more enticing please feel free to pm me here, or reply to this post.
***EDIT***
If you are unable to help the contest in any way because you cannot donate or because you do not know how to write a widget (/me raises his hand), you can still help by spreading the word. If you are a Digg.com user, please digg this story here. Any extra exposure the contest gets helps the chances of more developers entering in.
I wouldn't mind donating aside from the fact that the widget's will probably cost on the market. Not much into paying for things twice. But if enough developers get on board sure i'll chip in if it drives a better product.
|Spike|
I kinda agree, but this is more of a contest than it is purchasing the widget. This will hopefully spark more interest in widgets which will make lots more competition and hopefully better widgets in teh long run. I am gonna try to put $20 into it, although I would NEVER pay that much for an app. Depends on if I can steal $20 from myself (yes, im married, I have to steal from myself to have spending cash).
Donated! I cant wait to see what happens! And I have some personal experience with this kinda of stuff from running the dream theme contest so if you need any help let me know.
I would donate as long as the devs who participate make their entries free downloads for donators... After all the donators will have paid them already!
They could provide screen shots for non-donators/non-voters to drive interest in purchases.
And the contest coordinator could email the donators the link with the downloads that would only be up for a limited time.
OK - so, it seems we have at least five competitors! I'm in and plan on donating $20.00.
NOTE: Persons wishing to donate may select the link regarding the contest at the bottom of Darkrift's signature (which I duplicated at the bottom of my signature)
Darkrift - you might suggest to the competitors that they put a link to the competition to generate more interest/notice!
BrandenK I might bug you some day about a few things since I am a bit new to this.
shaneaus, I was thinking about that, but it doesnt work out as well. If the widgets are paid and go on the market, you could get a free copy but then updates would not be available in teh market. For that reason I paid for BarTor when the author offered me a free copy for helping beta test. It was a couple of dollars I could have saved, but market updates were worth it to me. I can put in a rule that all donators who donate $5 or more will get a copy and see how that goes.
Thanks to all who have donated, we are up to $30 within the first 30 hours. Not a bad start.
Developers, we still need some contestants to sign up and try to win the pot (you do not have to wait for the pot to grow to sign up, the end date is not going to be until at LEAST 10 days after the 1.5 SDK is officially released, and maybe later)
If anyone knows any Android developers, or frequents developer sites, please let them know about this contest. The more devs participating, the better the competition, and the better the final product will be. I am trying to get ahold of as many devs as I know, but most do not have contact info publically available. I will try to email widget devs from the market tonight.
Ilm up for entering the contest; got a few widget ideas =]
Great! Cant wait to see them

Id really like to see some more widgets, is there other widgets out yet or in development to follow? I'd really like to see a twitter widget, gtalk widget, friendfeed widget...
Found another:
http://code.google.com/p/wiktionary-android/
Example code showing how to create a home screen widget with the AppWidget framework in Android. Shows the Wiktionary "Word of the day" in a widget, and updates daily with a new word.
Here is an introduction on making widgets:
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2009/04/introducing-home-screen-widgets-and.html
What I would love to see come from this comp
I'm requesting that a Dev make the following for the competition:
I saw a weather widget/app on some other phone (don't remember which).
When it was sunny the widget was a blazing sun (really nice looking with a flaming/moving effect to the sun) - really looked like it was actively blazing.
When it was raining there were water droplets splashing on the screen. It had a windshield wiper that ran and swiped the droplets off.
When it was cloudy there were puffy clouds floating across the screen.
When there was a thunderstorm the clouds were dark, it was raining, the windshield wiper was running, and there were occasional lightning strikes (I think there were only about five different ones - but, they rotated through those five and they were occasional - like every five-10 seconds). It was freaking AWESOME!
It was the most impressive thing I have seen on a phone. There was a switch button that would stop the animation and just leave a small icon on the desktop (the button could be a setting in the icon or for Android it could be placed in the Notification Bar) .
The icon had great graphics - the sun, cloud, and storm cloud had the temp in contrasting numbers in the center.
OK, OK... So, the app didn't do all of the above... But, the rain and the sun were there! LOL I would pay well for an app like that!
DANG I wish I was a dev or had the time to learn!
I think you are talking about the M2D home screen I had on my Hermes.
And I would love to help if anyone needs it. Im not very familiar with this part of the Android OS so I would love to learn.
yea there definately needs to be a pretty weather widget like the htc diamond:
http://member.america.htc.com/downl...duct_Video_Gellary/HeroShot_spin-horz_WMV.zip
actually the home screen animation/effects are killer on that phone, its the only phone worth looking at other than a g1, would be nice if it was android and not windows mobile, that is why I dont be switching
@brandenk - I think that was it. The UI looks similar to what I saw. Do you have the windshield wiper? LOL
I was envisioning something similar... But, more of a layer across most of the screen for the drifting clouds/storm clouds/rain and realistic looking lightning. One could turn that layer effect off and have a smaller/simpler icon (more of a traditional widget style) or turn the effects back on.
I'm sure it is do-able. After all SweeterHome has layers of imaging/controls.
Also, SweeterHome has special trays for Contacts, Calendar, Text Messaging and Call Log - like a widget - but customizable. That along with their Springboards make it freaking awesome. When SweeterHome supports widgets I will scream for joy! (Jump for joy was just to mundane and wouldn't explain my excitement!)
I can just see the animated weather on my phone now! I would work with someone on designing the graphics. I'm just not up on the programing end of things.
Sorry to highjack this thread! But, just wanted to give an idea to any dev that would enter the competition. The theme competition was great.
Just need to get some devs interested! If more than 10 will sign up I'll donate $20.00 again!
Hmm if I could think of a widget other than weather(thought of phonefusion checker but I've been having enough problems with a music player I've been writing to know that's just not feasible for me... plus I don't want to deal with copyright problems, etc) since that's already being worked on I'd be all in for this. *thinks really hard*
some ideas for devs...
-Favorite sports team(s) scores - updated once everyday or manually
-Favorite Stock info - updated every 4 hrs or manually
-cnn or google news
-horoscope- if youre into that sorda thing
and one that i think would be especially hard but awesome:
a widget that uses the gps, basically a screen a tad bit bigger than the frame widget, inside of it will be where you currently are displaying the blue dot from maps. it could have a play/pause button so you are not constantly using gps and if you press the widget it opens google maps.
Ideas for widgets...
RSS - automatically displays/scrolls feeds, click on the feed of your choice to open the default browser to the selected feed.
Weather - as mentioned above or otherwise
Modified Google search widgets.
Wiki widget
Tweeter/Twidroid widget
IM widget - keeps one logged in and displays incoming messages - single click to respond. Once one responds the window closes and goes back to homescreen with widget displayed.
Gmail widget - shows subject/first few lines of incoming email - select if one wishes to respond to open up the app.
Calendar widget - better than stock one!
Clock widgets - The current ones are Boring - unless you take into account the ones developed by the Theme Devs! It would be cool is someone could just create a clock widget in which users could enter download different clocks to put into the widget. Then we could mix and match!
@Seenochino - Sports news - good for sports fans. Don't know how one would make it team specific? I'm not into sports. But, that was a good idea.
Picture frame that works like an LCD picture frame in the house. Does a slideshow with user selectable transition effects (fade/slide/etc). Could be set to run only when the phone is not in sleep mode.
MySpace - monitors posts onto a MySpace page, can stream music from page, etc. Or,
FaceBook - same idea.
That widget that is on my Google page that monitors updates to The Dudes OS files. Whatever that is would be nice!
PR0N widget!!!
how about a pet widget where you can feed and pet a dog? You could even do more like send it to another person with a g1 and it shows on there home screen

[GAME] ScanDroid Kingdom - Barcode Battle RPG | Updated 9/6

UPDATE ON MARKET!
Changes Include a new inventory system and online creature list changes!
Let me know what you think of the update!
CHECK OUT OUR NEW FORUMS! It is a place to put big reports, feature requests, or just talk about the game in general!
FORUMS!
I'm making this thread in the hopes some ppl will try it, give me some feedback, etc. I have a small group of about 5 people who have been helping me make this in the past 3 weeks, and It's come a long way.
OK, so here it is.
ScanDroid Kingdoms is a Barcode Battler, with RPG elements.
You scan barcodes to create your creatures. You currently can have as many as you like.
You can then battle your creatures against "Barcode NPCs", or battle online against other people on the ScanDroid Network.
You can take advantage of your "Daily Scans" to gain items, exp, or currency.
You can also share your creature via QR code for others to scan and battle, instead of using the online listings.
There is an Item shop, where you can buy things with currency.
Currency(ScanCreds) are gained when you scan for anything in the game.
Soon to be added:
Quests
Leaderboards
Equipment
Crafting
Online Trade House/Auction House
Skills for both Players and Creatures
Friends List
Messaging
I also have a donate version on the market, if anyone finds this game fun and wants to help keep it going at a fast pace, I'd appreciate it.
Currently there is NO difference between the free and donate versions.
Once the game is out of BETA, there will be differences.
Free version will not have multiple creature management, and will have a level cap(will be a higher one, like 40 or so). It will not get all the quests the Donate version will get either. But that is down the road.
I hope you like it and please respond if you have tried it, let me know what you think, and I'll try to do what I can to make the game more to your liking! I am trying to make this game as much a community project as I can, as I find that others seem to have great ideas I would have never thought of.

Been playing this for a while and so far I'm liking it. I'm also on the beta team for Barcode Beasties.
There's a few things not quite right and/or lacking in your game. I don't seem to get "daily scans" only scan accumulated through online battles. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding this but to me "daily scans" would indicate we get an amount of scans allocated to us every day. In the online battling feature it would be handy if we could see the other creatures level as well as their name in the listing of potential opponents, it would save us loading an opponent up, seeing they're too far above us in level terms then having to go back in and load another.
I also have a question. are we allowed to re-scan codes ever ie. is it a once per day scan limit or is it a persistent limit that never allows us to scan the same code twice??
Anyways, loving the game and hope it does well, would love to see your game and Barcode Beasties combined but I suppose you both being in competition so to speak will cause both games to have to strive for excellence.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
OK, so first:
You get 20 scans per day, refreshed at the start of each day.
Also, due to a very recent update, you can have a chance to gain an extra scan upon winning a match. Before, you would win a scan after EVERY win of match, which gave too many scans to them.
Having the level of each creature next to the name is a feature I have heard about quite a bit lately, and I am truly looking for a solution to have implemented in the next few days.
Also, it saves all UPCs in a db, and does not allow you to scan the same one twice, to keep ppl from figuring out what codes give what and keep ppl scanning in different places and situations.
Also, I saw Barcode Beasties hasn't been updated in a long while(market shows nov 10, 2010.) Is it still be worked on I take it? Also, I consider Barcode Beasties to be a different game for the most part, and the direction our team has planned for this game will take it so far off course from Barcode Beasties that they won't even be able to be compared after a while.
Thanks for the input, hope to hear from you again.
If you are interested in joining up with us on beta development, let me know, I would be glad to have you on board. Email me at [email protected] If you are interested.
Installed the game and gave it a try, so far everything seems great.
A little more flashiness to the UI might be in order, by no means does it look bad. A WP7 style setup for the buttons would fill in the blank space left by the smaller buttons currently, give the entire application more flow. (Mainly referring to the buttons in Barracks/Battle etc... change from small grey boxes to WP7 style buttons with large graphics)
The barcode scan portion works great, had no problems there.
Battle wise everything was fine, however the battle text was a little slow. Perhaps having an option to speed up the battle text, or make it go to the next round via tap interaction?
Definite thumbs up for this app. Plays well, no errors encountered as of yet, and I really enjoy the concept. Cant wait to see how it grows.

Thanks for trying it. The UI is fairly new right now, but we are trying to find ways to make it easier and more appealing. I will take the idea you had and see if it can help us at all.
Good idea for the battle text, ill add it to our bugs/feature tracker.
New Update has been posted!
Changes Include:
Bug Fixes(Of Course)
Online Creature List now shows levels under names
NEW Inventory System to test out!
Also, as with any update during the BETA, please contact me([email protected]) if anything is not working properly, and Ill do what i can to fix it ASAP!
Also, still looking for a couple more people who want to join the teams beta testing division, so we can get the updates tested a little faster so I can send them to the market quicker!

[APP][2.1+] Rainbow Compare - Save on groceries

Hi everybody on xda-developers,
Compare grocery prices using Rainbow Compare.
Rainbow Compare automatically calculates and compares unit prices of the products that you're interested then
visualizes the comparison result for you to make a more informed, frugal buying decision.
Rainbow Compare - save more on groceries
Please check out my new free app Rainbow Compare. It is an app designed for all of you smart shoppers in mind.
If you're a regular grocery shopper, this app will be of great help to you.
Imagine yourself in the aisle of supermarket shopping for beverages and you come across the following products:
1) Beer, $ 1.25 / 12 fl oz
2) Milk, $ 2.45 / 1L
3) Orange Juice, $ 2.65 / 1250 mL
4) Soy Milk, $ 1.50 / 850 mL
And you're really open for all as long as it saves money.. so which one is the cheapest?
This is where Rainbow Compare comes in, just put in the price, quantity, and unit... and voila!
The result is presented to you, visualized:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",

}
Now you can make a more informed decision. Not a grocery person? No problem, introduce this app to somebody who is.
I'm sure they'll benefit from this free little app.
Other features include
1) Compare up to 4 products at the same time
2) Real-time unit price calculation with optimized precision
3) Auto unit conversion
Also, Rainbow Compare is free.. so you're saving while you're saving.

Like the concept, but I'd love to see something a bit more in depth, even something crowd sourced! Say, for instance, you go to Store A, someone else goes to store B, if you could compare prices between different store, that would be amazing!

Yeah, that would be pretty cool... but grocers, for one, have been fighting against the possibility of something like this for years. I don't think they've stepped up their game since the advent of the smartphone, or the PDA, but they haven't been challenged, either.
Here are the problems with that:
One, no grocer serves the entire United States. This could be done statewide for some, country-wide in Europe, but it would be hard to serve everybody. On the West Coast (USA), Safeway is one of the biggest chains. They're nonexistent out here. Here in NC, it's all about Food Lion, Harris-Teeter, and Lowe's Foods. Some of these are in the states around North Carolina, but they don't go very far.
Two, you have dozens of brands. There's the store brands, and then there are the national brands. Then the regionals. Milk and other quickly-perishables are regional only.
Three, prices change all the time. Officially, they change once a week on a given day, but nothing stops or bars a grocer from changing on other days.
Four, due to all this, the information would have to be crowdsourced. Kind of like GasBuddy. Cue collective groan from anybody who has ever used GasBuddy. Now for those still in the dark, I'll elucidate. Because GasBuddy is owned by no gas station, and doesn't verify information (how can it?), unscrupulous gas station owners simply log in and put false prices in. Maybe a couple cents a gallon less, but this has the immediate effect of poisoning the well -- once GasBuddy directs you to the cheapest gas in town, only to find it's the highest, and this happens once or twice, you lose faith in the service. And the more people that happens to... well, the service dies rather quickly. And you can't always fault the person who entered the data because gas prices can change daily. Maybe the person didn't intend to lie, but right after it was changed, the gas station raised the price. Maybe the gas station owner was watching GasBuddy, and as soon as the price for his station was reported, he sent his people out there to raise it. "Hey, we're now the cheapest gas station in town on GasBuddy -- raise the price by 3¢ and let's make some money off the bargain hunters."
Now, a grocery app would be less susceptible to corruption, especially in smaller states. But generally this is not something that a smartphone app is capable of handling, simply due to greedy humans being greedy.
Sorry to shoot you down, but the best way to do this is to go shopping with a partner. You're both on cell phones (don't have to be smartphones), and you both have headsets. You take a shopping list and copy it (even by hand!), and you try to organize the list by aisle order of *both* stores (so you kinda have to know them). Then what you do is, one drops the other off, and they both go into the store, on the phone, to the first item on the list. You compare the prices, over the phone, and whoever can get it cheaper, adds it to the cart. If you're the one who doesn't add it, you write the price difference on yours. You both check out, and meet up after. Later, compare lists and add the differences to see what you saved. Really helpful if you're married and you're not pressed for time. But then again, my wife and I have been married just over 6 years, and we have done this only once. (We came up with the idea of writing down and later adding differences after we did it -- I couldn't tell ya what we saved.)
WOW guys

A new story “The Real Friendship” has been added. The author is Altai Zeinalov who has written a lot of children’s stories so far but is not going to stop at this point. Our composer Artyom Akmulin has created a beautiful melody that accompanies the story.

We have great news for you! We have just added our new fairy tale “A Guest on the Farm.” The tale`s author is Dale Neal. He lives in Great Britain. He used to write poems earlier but he decided to perform as a prose writer for the first time in our app. And we have to admit he has achieved a success now! This tale will teach kids on how to provide a mutual support to each other.
+ app productivity was increased and bugs were fixed.
Please leave us a review.
What's new in the version 2.1.8
• We have a new story for kids – “My Friend the Dolphin”. Altai Zeinalov had this story in his mind a long time ago, but it hadn’t come out until today. Lots of magic is ready to be revealed in this tale, including dreams, living toys, and a big oak tree!
The illustrations are created by a Vietnamese artist who wished to be introduced as Estince. This is his first work in our app.
The composer is Nadezhda Gourskaya – a freshman.
• Big performance update!
What's new in the version 2.1.11
We’re happy to announce the release of a new story by Konstantin Zhukov, titled “Tlouble”! It’s quite an unusual story that takes place in a very ordinary setting: a rabbit’s hole! Tlouble is a strange illness but, fortunately, doctor Ouch and doctor Purr are ready to help poor rabbit get better.
+ New free story ‘A Monkey Manners Tale’!
There’s nothing like a walk through the forest… unless the litterbugs have gotten there first.
What's new in the version 2.2
• They say millions of people can’t be wrong, but that is a misconception. Our new story, “Not Like Everyone Else” by Liz Bickerstaff, is here to prove it. One lamb decided not to go with the stream, and thus was able to save the flock from trouble.
Illustrator – Magdalena Markowska from Poland. Her interesting style, reminiscent of the inking style of drawdown, has blended in nicely with this new story.
Composer – Artyom Akmulin.
• French language has been added.
• Winter theme added!
What's new in the version 2.3
Konstantin Zhukov has authored his third story, released under the slightly comical title “Pink Glasses”. Children will realize that the world can be viewed from various angles, and it is only up to them to choose how to see it.
What's new in the version 3.0
Minor improvements and bug fixes.
Subscription added.
