Hello,
after a bad experience with the Samsung app draining all my battery in one afternoon being just reset but not closed.
I have tried "Gear Stopwatch" and "Timing"....
But they are also draining batteries and if put in the back are resetting ...
I need an application which can time hours: a stopwatch and a timer without to drain the battery or to be resetting...
A $ 50.00 Timex can do it.
Why the GearS3 cannot be used to measure time flight for example ?
Any idea ?
Thank you.
Best regards
Nemo
Yes annoying and not usable
Just one app "Timers Gear" (and still count when Gear is Power off ) but only for Gear 1&2&S (and pebble) but no port for S2/S3

Merci Dersie ! Y'a plus qu'à espérer un upgrade alors. (Je suis né en Haute-Marne...)
Also I have found a Cooking Timer made in Poland who seems to be OK. It's Cooking Timer by SRPOL R&D Institute Poland.
You can trigger 10 timers: 2 stoves of 4 and 2 ovens. And it keeps running when left.
It's not the first time that flight tech borrows from cooking tech.
Many Stopwatches stops and reset when left... The search continues.
I wrote to the author to ask but no answer

Hi,
I have several watch faces installed on my S3.
I prefer to have it always on but I see that this causes a serious battery drain, especially with the latest OS.
Assuming about the same usage mode every day (eg lifting the hand to check the time X times per day, the same number of notifications received (FB, whatsapp, emails...), the same amount of fiddling with the watch etc), AND the screen being turned on only by the hand lifting gesture.
Is there any accepted metric that measures how much battery the watch face should eat up per hour?
For example yesterday I used one of the faces and about 3 hours after full charge - I was down by about 10%.
Today I'm using a different face and it's down "only" by 4% (which seems great compared to previous days).
Most of the faces I use are rather dark, only the HHMM is (in some of them) in a bright color.
No fancy dials turning about on the watch face.
GPS is off, I don't use the watch for sports tracking expect steps/distance/floors.
For example, today I'm using the Digital Sport Red Automatic from AP Watches - Andrea Pascolo.
Thanks.
It's now 19:15 and my battery level has dropped 25% only (11 hours), after receiving many notifications and quite a lot of fiddling with the watch setting throughout the day.
This is with the Digital Sport Red Automatic from AP Watches - Andrea Pascolo.
So in my opinion this is a very good watch face regarding battery life (not to mention that in my opinion it's both beautiful and useful for my needs).
In the next days I'll check the other faces I've purchased, regarding battery usage.
By the way, I have location=ON.
Another update.
Using the same face today but with GPS=OFF and display always on.
Began usage at 06:30 with 100% battery and now at 20:00 have only 56% left. So it's average of ~3.3% battery per hour.
Again, received many notifications from various sources, fiddled with Watchmaker and installed the updated companion app,
Hey guys I tried again to use my watch after a few months because of frustration I updated to the latest version I kept the screen off kept the Bluetooth on and that was it and I still have to put it on battery saver mode within 6 hours. I know this is impossible so what could I be doing wrong? Thanks

I too having same issue
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
Hi,
I was having the same problem but in my case I found put that it was sort of a software problem.
I have a Xiaomi phone with miui 11 and the battery saving features are very agressive. I then put all the services and programs relates with the watch:
Gear s plugin
samsung accessory service
Galaxy wearable
Samsung Health
With autostart and none of battery saving. Then locked the two apps Galaxy wearable and Samsung Health on the "clean" apps menu (the one we use th square icon to acces on the icons bar).
I make sure that Galaxy wearable and Samsung Health are running before starting watch, and it lasts for two days (I'm using a black and white watchface and only the bezel can wake the watch).
Don't know if it works with other users or with other type of phones or if it's just a coincidence, but since I'm diong this the battery drain stopped.
I am looking at purchasing the UK version with BP and ECG and currently have a A52 phone to work with it.
I currently use a Fitbit Charge 4 but really need a device with ECG. Anyone coming from a Fitbit or Garmin or other device with good sleep tracking care to comment on how close the GW4 compares? From the reviews and comments under the reviews it looks like there might be some bad batches of GW4's out there in the wild that are not performing as good as some others?
The sleep tracking on GW4 (same as in previous models like GW3 etc) is Not good. It mainly misses most the deep sleep cycle. I've also had Fitbit before and it seemed better. The best sleep tracker is the Oura ring which I also use and sometime compare with the GW4, which again fails to track deep sleep

Try using Sleep as Android (works with both Tizen and WearOS). Not sure if they've optimized for GW4 yet, but I find Sleep as Android very comparable to Oura - deep sleep metrics are a very inexact science, but agree Samsung watch algorithms do that poorly.
The other nice thing about Sleep as Android is it also graphs SpO2 (again, not sure they've added support for GW4 yet) and HRV. So the only metric missing from that equation is temperature (which can be very useful) that Oura does do.
I am using a beta version of sleep as android created especially for GW4 support. You can check if the update is live yet or also join their beta program.
edit:
for anyone who is interested:
Samsung Watch 4
Hello @sonofanut, I think you are right. Google did just removed the Sleep as Android Wear OS app from the Play Store… This is part of their “rising the quality bar” initiative. The reason in the notice is we are not showing the the time of the next alarm on the tracking screen… The reason for...

You might want to start a thread if you are having issues as you will defiantly get more responses.
Anyone check if the sleep tracking has improved any with the latest firmware/software updates to the GW4?
Also is anyone using the ECG feature? That is one of the main features I need as I have heart palpitations on a regular bases but of course whenever I go the doctors it never occurs so its not something they can ever see on a machine and would like to try and catch it on the GW4 when I have an episode to see what it is actually doing.
I'm just wondering what everybody thinks of the "Frequent Syncing" setting in Samsung Health. For anybody that doesn't know what that is, basically it uses more battery to ensure your step count is always up to date and matching accurately between your watch and phone. The description specifically tells you that it uses more battery which is important to note because that means it's significant enough to notice.
Frequent Syncing is on by default. To Toggle it on/off, Launch the Samsung Health app on your PHONE (Cannot be edited on watch). Tap on your steps to bring up the Steps breakdown menu. Tap the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner, and then tap the Frequent Syncing option. There you'll be able to change it and see a description of it.
Back to my original question, is that battery drain negligible and does anybody have an estimate as to how much drain the Frequent Syncing actually is responsible for?
dont even have this option there maybe becouse iam blocking sensor acces for samsung health couse this stupid app count steps even when iam watching some memes : p.
my battery last +/- 3 days gesture to wake on and no aod and 2 days aod on gesture off
44mm standard watch
I also don't have that option on my Health App - and my sensor is not blocked. Strange !

Maybe it's because I had to use the procedure in one of Dante's videos in order to get BP and ECG working on my watch.
These functions is disabled by default in my country - South Africa.

Same here, option is not available on a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
Also, option is not there on my OnePlus 9 Pro!
I've had this turned off for a couple of days, haven't noticed any major difference other than maybe 1-2 hours of extra usage at max.

+/- 3 days is quite a lot I can say. What about other settings? I am with 46 mm lte (not using lte, I do not have eSim) and I can't reach full 48 hours, even with some battery management - Power saver, Airplane mode during I sleep, health measurements turned off.
I bought the watch 4 days ago and I am the second charge cycle yet.

Of course it depends on usage.
Some questions:
1. Have you turned on gestures for answering/dismissing calls and alerts, because I have?
2. Power save mode - do you use it?
3. Regarding the notifications, you men you set it up to turn your screen when you receive notifications?
4. What about calls - do you have any calls on the watch in these 3 days?
5. What do you mean with "plus watch in that sleep mode over night"?
Thanks a lot!

Recently I have heard some feedback from people who update with the latest major update that there have been improvements in battery life. Any observations from anyone who has updated?

I thought it's a bit worse as well. Also, some watchfaces (Skagen) I used started glitching.
Hi, sleep recording in Samsung health in very random, deep sleep 15 min each night, not sleeping for 1 h and a half, clearly not accurate. Does it works better android app or simply the watch can't make better ? (GW 4 by). Also, while hiking, Samsung health stops recording hearth rhythm for 5-10 min, restarts again, stopping again and so on. Same question, with another app can I get better results ? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

The Samsung sleep monitor in health doesn't work work a crap. It'll say I slept 2 hours when I slept 8, etc.. Download sleep for android on your phone and watch and use that. It works awesome. It even has an alarm setting that looks for the perfect sleep pattern to wake you up so you're less tired. I have mine set to only 20 minutes within my alarm time, and I feel pretty good most mornings. Hope this helps with that piece.
As for heart beat and such, I've never had an issue with both my watch 4 and watch 5. You might want to try a factory reset of the watch for that.
