SM-N920V Stuck In Bootloop and Can't Access Recovery - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hi, I have a Verizon Samsung Note 5. I have attempted to flash every stock rom available for this device. I continues to stay in bootloop. If i try to boot into recovery mode, it just goes into the bootloop anyways. I am at a loss of what to do. I cant use adb on Windows due to the bootloop. This is the first time I have ever posted because I can usually find my solution from other peoples misfortunes. I have tried the following stock roms where most roms passed, and a few failed. I have also tried the ones that failed with multiple versions of Odin. I can access the download mode with no issues. I can also access the Maintence Boot menu from the download mode. Everything I have read says I need to wipe system cache and the odin install would work correctly. Any help would be fantastic. Also, I do not know what build number my phone is since I cant access.

What does Odin say after a flash? Pass or Fail? Maybe your PIT file got messed up? Normally you don't want to mess with the PIT but you might need to try something with that. I've never messed with them so you'll need someone else to help you with that. Was this phone ever booting okay ? If this only happened after you flashed something there should be a way to get back to a bootable phone. Did you unlock the OEM lock before flashing - I think that is important (in the developers options) or you may get into a bootloop. If it's on a VZ service plan you could take it back and they might fix it with a box for flashing at a level you can't normally do with Odin on a usb cable. Just don't admit you were flashing anything

I have tried the pit file with each as well. Ive tried them all with and all without. It is not on a Verizon plan. I purchased it from someone to use, they said the battery died during an update. I believe they may have told me a lie, because it shows custom on the bootloop screen.

That can be bad having an update during a low battery. Yes they may have bricked it doing something wrong flashing a wrong file. You might want to try flashing the Oscar kernel and look through this message thread for help: https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...asy-guide-how-to-root-verizon-galaxy-t3454593 Dealing with the Verizon version of the Note 4 is a real pain but I managed to get root following the above link thanks to Tripper511's detailed instructions for this phone. Check his troubleshooting guide also.

When you boot into download mode, what does it say next to "PRODUCT NAME"?
Also can you get into recovery using the power, volume and home buttons? If so can you tell me what it says right underneath "Android System Recovery"?

Actually this was a very helpful suggestion by MrMike2182 when my Note 5 was stuck in a bootloop one time: do a factory reset right after it's done flashing. Stop Odin from auto rebooting the phone and after the flash hold the volume down and power button at the same time until the screen turns off and when it comes back on just select factory reset and let it finish. But since Mike's here if that doesn't work he may have some other good suggestions :good:

RP SWREV: B:3 K:0 S:1 You're on bootloader 3 and the knox is not tripped on the phone.. What I would suggest you do is flash this firmware version N920VVRS3BPI1 from my Android File Host and before connecting the phone to odin open the settings and disable the auto reboot option and then connect the phone and flash it and after odin displays PASS then disconnect the phone and immediately press and hold the volume down button, the home button and the power button at the same exact time and when the screen turns on select factory reset and let it finish doing that but do not let odin reboot the phone!
And if FRP Lock is on meaning OEM unlock is disabled then you'll need to use one of the adb root only kernels in order to get the FRP reset.

I did that firmware version, but it didn't work. I did the exact steps you just stated. I will attempt it again and see if I can get something out of it. I read that Odin v 3.10.6 worked best for the note 5, is this true or does it matter? I have most of them. Haha

Download this odin and try it.. The auto reboot is already turned off. Just unzip it. odin-modified
Those root kernels should be posted on the root section but they aren't full root! Only adb terminal root with no write permission to /system..

TRY THIS
Firstly you will need:
About 6gb of data and a stable network
A usb data cable
Patience
After getting all that, follow these steps:
1. Download samsung smart switch and install it to your computer
2. Download samsung usb drivers and install it too
3. Make sure your device is charged and your computer is connected to the Internet (with a stable network and at least 5gb of data because a slight error in the network will send you back to the beginning and you will have to start everything all over again.)
4. Launch smart switch and when prompted to connect your device, don't connect it, just click on "more" at the top right corner
- Then click on "Emergency software recovery and initialization"
- Then click on the "device initialization " tab
- Then enter your model number (your model number is N920V)
- Then click on search
- You'll be asked to enter the S/N (serial number)
- You'll find the serial number at the back of your phone (on the glass)
- Then remaining steps are self-explanatory
*DON'T FORGET TO LET US KNOW HERE.

I was waiting as well, But I was about to chuck my Droid x against a wall. Another funny thing is right before I tried this my phone got sudden death syndrome (power button stayed compressed so every time battery is put in it automatically tuns on then off ). Luckily slamming my phone against the table wasn't a internet troll and it got fixed.

Bro I hate my Droid X. I sent my phone out today to have it JTAG to 4.3 and hours later this came out LOL. Good job bro!!!!:good:

Thanks so much!
You are a life saver. Thank you!
Good to see that some folks can resurrect their device now. A locked but working phone is certainly better than no phone at all.
Awesome work ThePagel!

I signed up just to say thank you. I decided to go for broke and take my phone into Verizon just to see what they said and they suggested I upgrade to a new phone. I'm sure they could have performed this for me, but I'm glad I did it myself. Once again, thank you.
Couple things, when you redo the OP could you make sure to detail what scenario would lead you to using this tool? Maybe make that a little clearer.
Also, we don't have a bootloader to boot directly into like say HTC devices. Samsung let's you boot into recovery or download mode. Download Mode may be an equivalent term to "bootloader" for other devices but it may be confusing to new S3 users down the road. Cheers!

@ThePagel I PMd you. I will go ahead and post a mirror for the SUA_ar.zip here. You can move this link to the OP. Once everyone wakes up they are gonna shut down your dropbox for excessive traffic.

Would this work on a phone that wasn't bricked but you wanted to just restore it to pristine stock 4.3? (a sort of "oh crap, I accidentally deleted a bunch of system APKs - how do I get those back?!" moment)

Kies should handle that. Not sure but as never used Kies but you should not need that other file. Just repair in Kies.
Will this repair a broken recovery also? After I took the OTA I rooted then tried to install a custom recovery. Now when I boot to recovery I get the error "SECURE FAIL: KERNAL" as well as the yellow triangle. The phone does work and I can get into download mode, I just want my recovery back so I can do a factor data reset if needed.

Hi - I really am in need of help. My phone which is a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (was) running latest 6.x firmware,
but custom and rooted via DarkStalker's awesome ROM. All was running fine for months. I did do one thing before my phone died,
I turned OFF developer option and forgot to turn it back ON before I i rebooted. Now the phone is bricked ( I pray it is SOFT not
hard bricked ). When I turn ON the phone it just says "FRP Lock is ON" and then shuts off.
I can enter download mode but NOT recovery. This phone is my work phone and has so much important stuff on it, I just have to fix this.
Plus my wife will shot me for paying $700 and breaking it.
Anyway ... I assume I must go back to stock some how. I can boot to download mode and connect to Odin. But I tried to flash:
1) SM-N920T_1_20160702132553_r0dr7864oe.zip
Also I tried this file ( again via Odin )
2) Noble_Kernel_Auto-Root_N920T_v0.1_Rebuid3.tar.md5
But BOTH files resulted in a FAIL on the Odin screen. ( SEE PIC BELLOW )
Now when I boot it boots to a screen that says this:

Sooooo basically I can NOT boot to the OS because the FRP lock is ON and I guess should be OFF, but when I try to Odin Flash I get a FAIL at the end of the flash. ( again see picture bellow )
PLEASE HELP I will try anything. .. My job and my wife are going to kill me soon.....
Cheers to all

Unfortunately I did the exact same thing as you one time. And unfortunately Odin wouldn't allow me to flash anything. But there was this tool we use to use all of the time for the s4 and it's called Samsung Kies. As in "keys". Basically as long as you can get in download mode it doesn't matter how you brick it.
You just soft bricked it but the bad thing is we can't flash unadulterated version of firmware with Odin. So if frp lock is on Odin is a no go. And when I say unadulterated I mean one that's not directly from Samsung not touched or changed in anyway.... which are hard to come by in many cases in my experience. When the recovery is changed it won't pass an Odin check usually if frp lock is on. Matter of a fact I don't think you can flash anything with fap lock on with Odin. Due to the fact that frp lock is basically saying bootloader locked.
When you turn off oem mode you unlock the checks put in place by the firmware and hardware during boot. Odin uses these checks also so when you try and flash it'll be a no go. Good news for you is this already happened to me and I figured why couldn't I just restore with heimdall. Well that's a no go to. So final solution was to try out kies that I had remembered using heavily with the s4.
1. Download Samsung Kies3. Link: http://www.samsung.com/pk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/#none
2: Install and open kies.
3. Go to the the tools tab and select firmware upgrade and initialization.
4. It will ask for your model name. Type SM-N900T.
5. Now it will ask for the Serial Number of your device. It is located on the back of your phone toward the bottom. Type that in and hit enter.
6. Now a message pops up and says the device can be restored etc...... Hit OK.
7. Now a message says Now initializing latest version. Hit OK.
8. Now it will Prepare software for initialization.
9. A screen will come up that says "Please follow the steps below to proceed with emergency recovery.
A. Make sure that the device is turned off.
B. Switch the device to recovery mode and reconnect the cable.
- To switch to recovery mode, turn on the device by pressing the Power button while holding down the Volume control "▼" Button and the Home button, and then press Continue (the Volume control "▲") button.
10. When it detects you are in download mode it will take care of the rest.
Try not to make the same mistake again.
I just rebooted with the developer options turned off on Friday. I was on ph1 firmware. Saw joeyv (spelling?) Deodexed stock rom with an option for an Odin installation. Did the installation through Odin and was back to stock. Odin flashed the kernel and tarp combo and was back up and running with root. No information was lost. For anyone else having this problem.

Thank you JohnMonsour for taking the time to write all that. I will save it for future use if needed. BUT ... thanks to Josezr I got it fixed.
I was able to boot into download mode like I stated, but I just needed the correct firm to flash. They all failed until I tried
N920TUVS4DPH2_N920TTMB4DPH2_TMB.zip ( Thank you Josezr ).
I just flashed that file and Odin completed and phone rebooted to OS. So ALL IS GOOD. My only question now is ... inside the developer
options section ( in settings ) I have turned Developer options back ON but ... all the options that can be set ON or OFF are in the OFF
position and I am not sure which should be turned on. Can anyone please give me a quick run down on how they should be set .. like this:
stay awake on
next ones set to,
on
off
off
off
on
off
ect............
=======================
Debugging
=======================
on
on
off
ect........
=======================
Networking
=======================
on

ect........
It would sure help me. Thanks again to all 3 of you guys for helping.

This is crazy I just ran into my phone becoming locked yesterday. T mobile sent me a update and my phone of course was set to auto update and my phone would do nothing it was a FRP LOCK. All I did was download odin and used this site to walk me through it all files are provided thanks to [ROM] [STOCK] N920TUVU3DPG1 | 6.0.1 | Deodexed | KNOX Free | 7.22.2016 by jovy23. At the bottum of the page is the download and also instruction to use odin. This was a life saver. LINK/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...rom-n920tuvu1boh4-5-1-1-deodexed-ciq-t3194270. Copy and past everything you need to do to get out of a FRP Lock situation is in this tutorial. Thanks again Jovy23.

its so much wrong with this write up its not funny...for one his model number is sm-n920t second if he is in frp lock then he cant turn his phone off, i tried this method it doesnt work period
you can't turn your phone off?
Yeah actually you can hard reset it and then enter download mode....
Hold volume down the home button and power for like 10 seconds then when the screen turns black you quickly hold volume down, home, and power......
You might not be able to turn it off but you can still enter recovery and download mode.
You might not be able to get into recovery depending on how screwed up your phone is.
And kies3 version was the only one that would work with the above method, now kies has checks in place that checks your knox status and if you've tripped knox it won't work. I can rewrite the guide and link the proper kies if it's really necessary. But this is from 2016 so I am sure that I don't need a proper rewrite.
And at this point I'm pretty sure it might not even matter what version of kies is used it probably does all checks server-side. So this method is obsolete for an almost obsolete phone.
Sorry I didn't help you.

S7 won't boot (Stays at the pulsating samsung logo)

Hello XDA friends,
I hope to find a solution for my problem with my Galaxy S7.
I've flashed the newest Version of Android with Smart Switch, but it won't boot to Android. It just starts "Samsung, Powered by Android" then switches to just the Samsung Logo then gets hot and after 5-6 Minutes it vibrates 2 times but nothing is showing on the screen except the Samsung logo.
I tried everything, rebooting it several times, multiple tries with factory reset. Nothing helps.
Hopefully you guys can understand my broken german english.
This is what the Download Mode currently says:
ODIN MODE
DOWNLOAD SPEED: FAST
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G930F
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Samsung Official
FRP LOCK: ON
Secure Download: Enabled
WARRANTY VOID: 0
RP SWREV: B:1 K:0 S:0
I have a similar issue to this, no fix found yet though.
Flash stock with ODIN 3.12.3
^^^^ Flash stock OS with Odin, if Odin returns with FAIL straight away go into TWRP and format System and Data then flash stock OS
I already tried 7 different stock roms, all have the same problem.
And I cant flash TWRP because the FRP Lock is on. And because I cant boot into Android I am not able to switch it off.
So far, i've tried these firmwares:
Smart Switch - Nope
SM-G930F_1_20170203142713_MOB_fac - nope
SM-G930F_1_20170210110639_6j1nt9xw0b_fac - nope
SM-G930F_1_20170418223200_pf0e8ktcz8_fac - nope
G930FXXU1APB4_G930FVFG1APB2_MOB - nope
SM-G930F_1_20170329175552_qghvj8op9t_fac - nope
SM-G930F_1_20170317121226_ipt5jsw6zo_fac - nope
And on every firmware there is the same problem. Pulsating logo, but nothing happens except the phone gets warm for some time and then cools back down.

I see all the firmwares you have tried have been from 2017, so I assume are all Nougat?
Tried an older Marshmallow firmware?
This one is BTU Unbranded United Kingdom MM for G930F
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=2877DF1921A611E6949E0CC47A44B7B2
Also have you tried using CSC rather than CSC_HOME?
Are you using the correct CSC for your device?
Have you tried checking Repartition in PIT section of ODIN?
Finally are you using ODIN 3.12.3 minimum version?
Tried an older Marshmallow firmware? Yes (Stays on the "Samsung powered by Android" logo)
Also have you tried using CSC rather than CSC_HOME? Yes
Are you using the correct CSC for your device? Yes
Have you tried checking Repartition in PIT section of ODIN? Yes
Finally are you using ODIN 3.12.3 minimum version? Yes
So far, no success
Have you got access to a different PC to flash from?
And a different USB cable to flash with?
If not a different PC, try a different USB port, if using 3.0, try 2.0 and vice versa
Tried it on a different pc and on different usb ports, I even tried multiple versions of the rom on multiple ports.
Still no luck
Sounds like it might be time to RMA unfortunately

I can't send it back, since I got it from a friend and he had a screen repair from a non-samsung partnered shop.
So the warranty is void :/
I have had this problem in the past.
You need to download Samsung KIES 3
(Version 3.2.16084-2)
Select Firmware Upgrade & Initialization from TOOLS at top of APP.
MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT AND DISCONNECT WHEN KIES TELLS YOU TO.
Make sure you have your exact model (example: my model is SM-G930FD)
Make sure you have your Samsung Serial Number (example: NOT ACTUAL S59K432SLQF).
IF YOU DON'T HAVE SAMSUNG SERIAL NUMBER, YOU MIGHT HAVE IT ON YOUR RECEIPT OR BOX.
IF NOT, PERHAPS YOUR CARRIER CAN GIVE IT TO YOU.
DON'T WORRY ABOUT ANY SMALL SCREENS THAT POPUP AND SAY ANYTHING ABOUT NOT BEING SUPPORTED -OR-
THAT SMART SWITCH IS FASTER.
Eventually you will get to a screen that says
"The device can be initialized to its original settings.
All settings and data will be deleted, and the latest software verison will be installed.
Do you want to proceed with the firmware upgrade and initializastion? (OK CANCEL)
The app will download the firmware and then apply it to your phone.
Do not touch the cable or the phone while the process takes place.
When done, your phone will reboot as a new phone.

I did everything as You and Kies explained, sadly tho this also does not work for me....
This is so weird why is it constantly trying to boot and get stuck at the logo? :/
When you are in download mode, press and hold down volume, Home button, & Power key. When phone goes dark, switch from volume down to volume up, & keep holding power & home. This might get you into stock recovery.

You may be able to find a local repair shop by searching through Google. OR-you can try searching for craigslist. Org and your city. Then lookup repair of your phone.

Have you tried flashing each section of the ROM one by one and attempt a boot after each?
Can't really think of anything else, it sounds as if the internal storage is having problems, as mentioned above, a repair shop could be your only hope now, but I already know they'll tell you the motherboard is faulty (even if it is not) unless you know of a reputable shop that doesn't BS customers for £
Try calling Samsung and ask them how much to reflash out of warranty.
It shouldn't be that much....

Note5 stuck on "Downloading..." or "System Update Failed" page

I'm new to this all and mostly have been exposed to it as I've been trying to figure out what is wrong with my phone. During a Samsung update my phone died and ever since it has been stuck on the two pages I've mentioned. I have downloaded Odin but have no idea where to even start. I can't turn the phone off and it doesn't go into the OS at all. Please HELP!
have u tried holding both power and either the volume up or down buttons for a while? when mine has frozen one of those combinations works

You need to download the firmware update that was trying to flash or at least get the one before that and after you're done downloading it, let the phone boot to the update failed screen and while it's there open Odin and then connect your phone to the pc and in Odin you should see it say connected after that tap the AP slot and select the firmware update that you downloaded and give Odin a few to scan the file it might even say it's not responding but ignore it because it always does that and after the file check is done just tap start and let it do what it has to and the phone will reboot when it's done.

Thanks for the response. I tried to do that with N920VVRS3CQI3 but it didn't work. It gets to recovery.img and then fails and on my Note 5 it says System Check Fail: (BOOT). I'm at a loss of what to do.

can't flash Note 9 (SM-N960U) via Odin keeps failing

can't flash Note 9 (SM-N960U) via Odin keeps failing at initializtion and setup connection everytime , I am trying to flash from Note 9 (SM-N960U) [ATT] [ANDROID 8.1.0] to the latest T-Mobile SM-N960U Android 10 update, I even tried the USC version but I still get the same error of initializition and setup connection in odin I will attach a screenshot in the bottom of the odin logs below as an attachment.
when i boot to download mode i get the following on my screen
RPMB fuse blown
RPMB PROVISIONED
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official

FRP LOCK: OFF
WARRANTY VOID: 0X0
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT : ENABLE [IN YELLOW]

I tried almost all the different programs of Odin patched even normal Odin, latest and oldest, tried almost all of them.
I tried on a different computer different USB cable different USB slot plugged it at the back in the motherboard and the front, tried going into download mode twice, tried going into download mode then not continuing (not pressing volume up) until all odin files are loaded, tried going into download mode then put all the files in odin nothing worked.
Any help would be appreciated
Check the cable you are using. Last time I had problems with Odin was a faulty cable. Check also the port in the phone is clean.

Odin/ the computer needs a little time to recognize that the phone is plugged into the usb...how can you press continue(up) immediately if first you need to wait and then click start?
